After my second visit to Salmon's today I've noticed an audible hiss from my tire. Upon closer inspection, there is a crew embedded in the tire. Considering that this hiss developed after the inspection due to the fact that I hadn't noticed before and the center didn't notice it, the screw is mostly likely a result of something that happened while they were test drive the car for the inspection. read more

These guys are life savers! Last week when my Audi Q5 began overheating, I was surprised to learn how difficult it is to take your car in for repairs during an emergency situation. The Audi dealerships were over a month out! What is a person to do when your car is not drivable?!?! Not only did Salmon Service Center find time in their busy schedule to take my car in to diagnose the issue, they also helped me by facilitating a rental car. Thank goodness they did because the root of the issue was bigger than first thought. Car emergencies are always stressful but Alex was so kind and communicative throughout the whole process. I so appreciated his honesty and transparency. You can feel that they genuinely care about their customers here. Super nice neighborhood shop! Great folks work here - literally everyone I spoke with on the phone and in person was personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. I called to ask questions one day and was able to drop off the vehicle the next day. I spoke with two different people who worked here and I was impressed with them both. Work was done in a timely manner and ready when promised! Highly recommend them. If you can't pick up your vehicle by the time they close by 5 you can checkout and get your keys from the attendant for the Chevron until 10pm. Had undercladding trouble on 520 this morning after a bad experience with an agressive speed bump. I was able to make it to Salmon's at 65th in the hopes that they could take a look and ensure that the car was safe to drive. Francisco was able to get my car on the lift right away secure the undercladding which had been torn away and verify that no wiring or brake lines had been damaged much faster than I expected. Absolutely disgusted with the lack of interest in customer care and service. I called for an estimate to have my transmission fluid filled on my Audi due to a leak. I was told that if I wouldn't let him fix the leak he "wasn't interested in filling the fluid". The LAST person I want working on my vehicle is someone who's bottom line is their bank account and not a single care twords the safety or interests of the customer. And just in general, if you're not interested in doing the work I NEED for $20, No way I'm going to let YOU do the work you WANT to do for $2ooo. Just finished having a head gasket replacement and power-steering rebuild on my 2005 Subaru wagon at Salmon's in Ravenna. Alex was in charge. He is a great guy to work with, and carefully explained all the work to be done and what it would cost, about $5,000. He also replaced the timing belt, and a variety of hoses and wire sets. Car came in at budget, and on time. The steering is very tight now, and the car drives like a sports car. Salmon is also very careful about the Covid, Alex explained the precautions, and there is a plexiglas-shield in the office to minimize chance of infection. I needed some basic car services after a long drive from California, and called Salmon's. Their phone system was a bit of a mess, and the location I called was not the same location that answered. I asked if I needed an appointment, and the receptionist said no, they're not busy, just come on by anytime. When I arrived, first thing the next morning, the mechanic on duty said they were already booked until afternoon. This first impression was slightly annoying, but I get it -- small business, Covid era -- and everyone I spoke to was very friendly and professional. Not long after I left, Phil Salmon (presumably the owner, and great PNW name btw), contacted me directly and apologized for the mixup. When I returned in the afternoon, the same mechanic -- sorry, I forgot his name -- took care of my car quickly and professionally. I stopped in to Salmon's today because I was looking for a gas station with good service in my mother's neighborhood that she could go to. She has encountered rudeness at other stations a couple of times lately and it has been stressful for her. Boy, did Salmon's pass the test! I went in to pay so I could interact. An employee had just walked out the door. HE TURNED AROUND AND OPENED THE DOOR FOR ME. At a gas station! I thanked him and he said, If you need anything, I'll be over here. (At the service bay.) I had to scrap my transmission and replace it - neither one of us was happy with this news but he made it such an easy process for me and called periodically to keep me updated. They repaired my water pump, identified a problem with the intake manifold, and also identified that my car had been in a unreported accident. Compared to the dealers, they are a dream to work with. Im a brain cancer survivor and the part of my brain that is most damaged since treatment is the spatial awareness area. Normally I'm fine, but some days I have a harder time than others, especially in judging the distance between small spaces. I stupidly miscalculated today and hit my mirror against something, popping off the top of the plastic part. I was feeling really ashamed and worried and called this shop to see if they could help. They told me to come in right away and they'd take a look at it. They were able to fully fix it within seconds and didn't charge me for the repair. A few weeks ago, I pulled into Salmon's because my tire pressure light was on and I had a long commute to work ahead of me. I was in a rush and frantically looking for the air station. Although I don't know his name, one of the people who work there ran out and asked what he could do to help. I explained the situation and without hesitation he said, "I'll take care of it." He then proceeded to check the air pressure of each tire and add air as needed. When I asked what I could pay him, he waved his hand and told me to have a great day. I've been impressed with this shop ever since a neighbor referred me. The first time I went AAA had told me that I needed a new battery and had some serious issues. A mechanic was able to fix whatever mystery issue existed in under 45 minutes. They kindly welded my tail pipe on when it was coming loose and fit me in. I'm going back again next week to have them do my struts. This is a great group of hard working men who do good quality work and who are just plain nice. Highly recommend. :) read more

I had an ongoing issue with my Nissan Maxima that another shop couldn't fix/couldn't even find what the real problem was. The ONLY place I will ever take my car! Marty (the owner) is the best. Trusty, reliable, and honest with you. When my old car broke down he checked it out and straight up told me it probably wasn't worth fixing- instead of charging me $400 to replace the radiator, and didn't even charge me for looking at it. The car broke down because I got cheap on the oil change and took it to a jiffy lube and they put some leak stop stuff that Marty said made it overheat and blew the radiator. Can't say enough good things about our experience with Aaron at Salmon's Service Center. My daughter's brakes failed on a Saturday night. Called Salmon's at 8am on Sunday (yes - a service center that is OPEN on a Sunday!), Aaron not only squeezed in looking at her car on Sunday, but had the car repaired and ready by 9am on Monday morning. Maybe my experience was a total fluke, but this is how it went down. I called one morning to see if I could bring my car in for an oil change, as I work 3 blocks away. They said sure so I went and dropped it off on a break around noon. I work til 6:30, so I asked what time they were open til. The guy in the garage said the garage closed before that, but the gas station would be open til 8pm. I said great, I'll just walk down after work. Around 5pm, they called my work to say my car was ready but it needed a fair amount of work, somewhere in the $3,000 area. I said ok and I'd be down when I got out of work. At 6:30, I walked down and not only were the garage and gas station closed, but my keys were locked inside. So I had no car and had to wait for over an hour til someone could come pick me up. The next morning my roommate drove me to the garage. I went in to talk to them and expressed how frustrated and annoyed I was. The guy I talked to the day before told me that he never said the gas station was open til 8pm, which is exactly what he did tell me. I felt that I was extremely inconvenienced and deserved some sort of discount. I don't adhere to the belief that the customer is always right, in most cases we aren't, but in this case a little empathy on the part of the garage would've been nice. Especially knowing that I potentially could bring them my car that needed a few thousand dollars in repairs. Knock $5 or $10 off my bill and you'd have a loyal customer. I wasn't looking for a hand out or to not pay anything, but offering me something off would've been the classy way to go. Instead they refused to accept ANY blame for what had happened and insisted I pay the full amount because they put the time in. Apparently my time waiting around for a ride cause they locked my keys in their building was worth nothing. Good to know. I'll be going anywhere else from now on. I've had nothing but very good experiences with Salmons (the one at 65th and 25th NE) over the years. We have been taking our various vehicles here since the '80's. Marty has been a gem of a technician for years, and has kept my 2004 Honda running beyond my expectations. James was also super knowledgeable, pragmatic, fair and honest in his evaluation of my starter problem recently. I have never felt like I was pushed into something that was unnecessary. During my morning commute, right as I was about 100 yards away from Salmon's, I ran over something--perhaps a rhinoceros skull. Whatever that thing was, it left a slice in my rear-left tire as wide as my pinky finger is long. I limped my car into their garage. Within about 15 minutes, I was back on the road to work. On a otherwise gorgeous Seattle summer day, the starter on my car crapped out. After much hemming and hawing, I finally got it towed to the closest, open AAA preferred repair shop. It so happened to be Salmon's Service Center. I had already had one encounter with the service center (had an almost flat tire, and they checked it out and filled it for free when I stopped randomly to get gas one day) so I was optimistic for good results, but cautious nonetheless. They were very clear with me about when they would do an estimate and checking with me before any work was done. They were very clear about the timeframe that it would take, and because they re a gas station, pick up and paying was very simple. I dropped it off on a Saturday afternoon, and they promised to look it over and let me know by the next afternoon. (Yes...they are open on Sundays). I received a all as promised the next ay, and was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable cost of parts and labor, as well as the reasonable time frame for repairs. It has been three weeks since my work was done and I'm feeling pretty good about the entire experience. read more
