The oil change went fine, but they are taking no precautions for Covid 19. No masks, no hand sanitizer for either employees or customers. On 4/26/2021 at about 3:15pm I came into Grease Monkey for an oil change in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I pulled up to the garage and was greeted by a technician that asked what service I needed. I told the tech and they said to head inside and wait to get the customer information. I waited about 5 minutes and I assume the store manger was the one helping me. First, he said that I slow down when in enter the parking lot. I was so stunned I looked around to see who he was talking to. Then I asked if he was talking to me? He said he was and they almost had a child hit in the parking lot. I don't know why a child would be running around Grease Monkey parking lot? If anyone has ever pulled into the parking lot from Front Street coming from the Sonic it is a hard right turn and then another quick hard left turn to the garage. I don't know how its possible to be speeding and make those turns in a Jeep Wrangler. I have was very offended. I took my keys and went to the Goodyear store for my oil change. I will never recommend Grease Monkey to anyone and I will not return for any type of service. read more

I must tell you this only because it goes to the mind set of poor workmanship of this location. 2/12/2020 I pulled up to the first Bay and was the very first CAR at this location. I had been there before and I WILL NOT RETURN!!!!!!!!!!! Tom, took the account at the terminal. All was fine I needed and knew about my brake lights, as I was just told about them. Tom came back with this information. I needed either 2 or all four at $8.99 each. Of course needed all four, i was not show the bulbs, to prove that they were needed or not! Today, I open the trunk and what do I find, the plastic cowl that the covers the bulbs is not fastened! I call Tom and ask for $36.00 your worker could not refasten the cowl? His reply was the cowl was not fastened, I said it most certainly was when I opened the trunk just the day earlier. No it was not was the response. I can tell you this man was incorrect, how do I know, because just moving the cowl and running my hand on the thin "carpet" the fasteners were there. Went for an oil change, knowing my tires were also low on air, and that they'd fill them. I reviewed the receipt before I left, and it stated that my tires had been inflated to factory specs. My car however still was showing low PSI and blinking warnings. I drove around for a bit, and turned my car off and back on to make sure things didn't need to be reset. Still the same. I went back to the store, and told them "my tires are still showing they need air" . I was asked if the warning were blinking, and I said yes. I was told "your sensors are probably broken then, but I'll have the guys hook it up and check" .. Lo and behold, once they put air in the tires, the blinking stopped and my car showed the proper PSI reading. I don't appreciate a) having a receipt showing work was done that wasn't, and b) being told "oh your car must be broken" when obviously that wasn't the case. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. They will rip you off. I brought my truck there to have a conventional oil change and tire rotation. Nothing fancy. It normally costs me $20-30 at other places around Castle Rock. It costs about $15 to do it myself. I was in a hurry, so I thought this place looked like a quick place to stop. Wrong! I waited an hour in their waiting area. While I was in there, I heard a woman complaining because they charged her $200 just to change the oil on her Mercedes. After she complained, they magically found some areas to cut the price down a bit. So when they called me up to pay, they told me my total price. $80! And that was with a $7 off coupon. They have the prices posted on the wall as $36 for the oil change, and $15 for a tire rotation. My total should have been around $45, so I was shocked that they wanted twice that. After I got angry like the previous customer, the manager found a few spots to take money off, and I got out for $60. Better, but still twice what I normally pay. My advice is to avoid this place like the plague. They are a complete rip off. Especially if you don't complain about it when they overcharge you. read more

My mom went in the other day to get an oil change (synthetic). She was over charged $30. When we made the manager aware of this he offered $12 back. We've reported them to the Better Business Bureau and now we're letting you know. It sounds like only friends get good service and everyone else gets the shaft. Then said they didn't actually have the filter in stock but would get it from the auto parts store right up the street, I asked how long as I was in a hurry, said it would be within ten minutes if i wanted to wait so I said sure after all ten minutes is nothing. After 40 more minutes they finally got my car done and then charged me $67 for the air filter!!!!!!!! Then said oh our technic didn't know that if we have to get the part it costs more. What??!! Turned down for an oil change twice. The first time I could see them in the garage loitering about so after waiting about 5 minutes I went into the office, still no one came to assist me, I left after 10 minutes and went to the holly & county line location. The second time a guy came out and said he was the only one there and couldn't help me until someone else came in 2 hours later. There were no cars in the garage and he was doing nothing. Just tried to get an oil change there moments ago, tech was shaking his head with attitude as I pulled up perhaps as I tried to pull into their unmarked exit. Tech was a bit aggressive. After going thru prices said I couldn't pull my car into the bay and had to get out even though I had a sleeping child in car. So I left. Poor customer service. Don't. I know it's convenient if you live in Castle Rock and that a JL is either a drive to Park Meadows or the Springs, but just don't. 2008 Audi A4. Did the synthetic oil change so not cheap. Next week started noticing a small oil leak in the garage. Took it into Castle Rock Imports (HIGHLY reco'd!) for tuneup and found that the drain plug was almost backed all the way out. Clear it had not been torqued down. My wife drives this car 80 miles round trip every day. This was days away from either a catastrophic failure or a major break down (potentially in the middle of near nowhere). So just don't. I know I won't with any of my three cars. Better to go somewhere that they can manage to execute the entire 5 steps flawlessly (remove drain, remove filter, install filter, install drain, add oil). read more

I normally use another mechanic in town but decided to give Grease Monkey a try. They stripped my drain plug and tried to hide it by using silicone to stop the oil leak. When i returned two days later because my truck was leaking oil they denied everything and left me to pay the $600 at another place to replace my oil pan. Mistakes can happen but a reputable mechanic should be honest to keep your business. read more

And when I got it home and checked it myself, they hadn't done it. That was my last test, and their last chance. I knew they had been lying. Never again. I had accidentally left the oil cap off and oil was splattered in the car. This business proceeds to give me a lecture on how I need to "learn" and take care of my car. I work two jobs as a nurse assistant, one being in hospice where at least once a week one of my patients dies. With so much stress I may do stupid stuff like leave the cap off, but it's not Grease Monkey's place to be patronizing. While there I called Goodyear they wanted $60. When I got the bill it was $82. Finally they reduced it to $77.08. What is that. Over charge me. I'll take my business elsewhere. I have been a patron of this Grease Monkey for 10 years. In the past, I'd be in and out of there in 20 mins, even with other customers getting their oil changed too. They have in the past been super efficient and never upsold me. My experience today was sadly, different. It took 55 minutes (with only one other customer there) to get my oil changed. The technician seemed to be frustrated when he couldn't upsell me on several items. I felt like I was being taken advantage of (which is never a good feeling for a woman at a car shop of any kind). I will say, the Manager Becky, was friendly and professional. I did mention to her that it was taking WAY longer than normal, she said she trying to train a couple of new people but just the way she said it, not sure that was really it. When I looked through the lobby viewing window, 3 guys were standing around joking while Becky was doing the work. Too bad, it's a convenient location, but just not sure I'll be back. read more

It really seems like this Grease monkey takes advantage of you if you do not know much about cars. They bring dirty things out as show and tell but know full well that I don't know when things need to be changed and am wanting to take my car to people who I can trust to help me. It is so frustrating. The people that worked there were nice to me. But tried first to sell me a front differential service, before realizing that where it was located with the transmission he couldn't do it on a Subaru. And that I would have to take it to the dealership. I felt like he should have known that before he tried to get me to purchase it. So I ended up just buying the rear differential. He also did not go through the full service report. It wasn't until later when I took a closer look to see a lot of other items are "due" because of my mileage. He didn't take the time to go over any of the other items on the list. So it just feels wrong. I don't like feeling like I am being taken advantage of and this isn't the first time at grease monkey I have felt this way, so I wanted to review. Again all the people there were nice and respectful so maybe they are incentivized to up-sell items to people. It just is really really frustrating for people who don't know much about cars and want to take your car to get serviced to somewhere you trust. And you just feel played. read more

This place has poor customer service and shady practices. We were charged over $90 for a synthetic oil change (that would have cost $40 at the dealer). We were led to believe we were getting a synthetic blend which would have cost $50. The manager refused to meet us halfway and said the best she could do was give us a $10 credit for next time. They serviced both differentials and did not tighten the rear plug. Lucky, when I got home i checked each one and saw fluid on the rear. The plug was in hand tight only. Called the owner Tommy and he had a so what attitude. STAY AWAY! Very dangerous if the plug would have fallen out, followed by the oil. read more

I have been a loyal Grease Monkey customer since the purchase of my new car in July of '12. I took my car there on 8-22-13 for my maintenance oil change and tire rotation. I have never, ever been treated as disrespectfully before in my entire life, as I was by one of the managers. I will not state his name but it started with a Fr... Long story short, I tried to pay my $64.62 bill with $80 in cash. I was told they didn't have change and were not going to make a special trip to the bank to make any. The manager then tried to give me the $15.38 change owed to me, in just that, change... Quarters and a roll of dimes to be exact. He not only was rude, he offered no alternative solution to the problem and tried to make me feel as though it were my fault and problem. To top it off, the owner was more concerned with me not bad mouthing his company than good, quality customer service. Place is a joke. Treats you like your stupid. Labor costs out of this world. High wait times. Half the employees have no idea what to do. Using wrong fluids. Charging for stuff they haven't done. I wouldn't recommend them for anything. I trust Walmart to do a better job than that. Brought my truck in for a simple oil change ended up costing me over 150 dollars. They didn't have the oil I wanted in stock after telling me they did. I left and the tire light came on and started leaking oil. Took my truck to jiffy lube and had them look it over. Tire was low on pressure by 20lbs. Drain plug was stripped and rear diff plug was loose. They claim they greased the underside but no grease was found. Not to mention to vacuuming and window washing left my truck dirtier than when I came in. I will never be returning to grease monkey again employees sitting around the the lobby with dirty uniforms.
