Fried Pimento Cheeseballs
Cody D.

Came here for lunch with some friends after doing some shopping and walking around Franklin. First thing I noticed was the fried pimento cheeseballs. They are absolutely amazing. They sit on a spread of pepper jelly that adds just the right amount of sweetness and a bit of spice to the richness of the pimento cheese. We saw probably a dozen or more orders going to tables while we sat there and ate. They had live music and the place is just a cool venue for a restaurant. We highly recommend this place.

Very cool spot with lots of history. The food service missed a little but the staff acknowledged it and made it right. They seemed to be working out the kinks of new system or staffing but were super cool about it. A+ The food was good but the drinks were amazing. I ordered their Gray's Famous Anthym Spirit and I highly recommend.

I was visiting from out of town with some work colleagues. We got the dates wrapped in bacon and pimento cheese balls as starters. They were both delicious. I got the fried chicken meal. It was the best fried chicken meal I've ever had. Lighting is very dim, which seemed to be the norm for this area of Tennessee. Seemed like every restaurant I went to it was dark. Not a fan of that. But that didn't sway my review. The only thing that is keeping this review from 5 stars is our service. To me it was disappointing. We had 7 people in our group. Most of us got water, while a few others chose alcohol. Our server couldn't even keep our water cups 1/4 of the way filled. We sat empty for a while and we never seen our waiter. We were there for about 2.5 hours and my glass was filled twice. I would much rather preferred him leave a pitcher for us than to not check and see if we wanted more.

Amazing fries, hilarious staff and amazing food. Just go. Favorite fries in Franklin. Awesome dive bar vibe with elevated food on the menu. Great for guys to sit at while others are shopping Ask for the peanut tequila shot... lol Did I say I liked the fries? Like curly fries but not curly.

A+ for the classic old school decor and old time feel. Drove down to Franklin to get away from Broadway for a night and check out the old school charm and vibe. Think old architecture classic buildings. We popped into Grays for a drink and immediately fell in love with the decor and old school vibe. The bartender was a true mixologist. Both cocktails we tried, the Grays and the Giant Peach and also the Anthym Spirit were delicious. The bartender was friendly and informative on the area and also the bar itself. He knew his craft for certain. We don't go upstairs for the live music as we were heading somewhere else after this stop, but this is a must stop if you're in the area. Cool old town feel on the main drag through town and a lot of rich history in this place. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Gray's is regarded as a Franklin date-night staple and after our Friday evening of eats & drinks, I am glad to say its reputation holds up. Seated by the window at table for two, we watched Main Street buzz while we chased our own, me with the "Main Street Squeeze" (tasted like a liquid creamsicle) and he with Some Sorta Bourbon Pour (the particulars of which are unbeknownst to me). As a starter, we chose the bacon wrapped figs and agreed we could've eaten about an entire popcorn bucket full of them... They hit all the right sweet / salty / smokey notes that keep a person wanting juuuust oooone more. My red blooded American date went with the New York Strip for his entree, while I opted for the Heritage Fried Chicken per our server's ringing endorsement. We had not a single complaint as we smiled and ate and stole bites off each other's plates. I can't think of a single way that our Gray's outing could have been improved and I will look back on the whole experience fondly.

Bacon-Wrapped Figs

Really tasty food. Definitely recommend to start with the Bacon Wrapped Figs and Crispy Smashed Potatoes...super yummy. The Rose Cocktail is delicious and quite beautiful and is similar to a Cosmo. The Looking Glass is a strong gin drink that mimics an Old Fashioned with the block ice but nice if you love gin. For dinner I would absolutely recommend the Fried Chicken...SO good. The Shrimp and Grits were yummy but you have to understand they are not your typical grits. Uniquely enough, they add popcorn to the grits as they are made to create a thicker consistency. Personally, I would stick with the beautiful recipe of the shrimp with okra and sausage but keep a more traditional grits recipe. We tried to order coffee and dessert but oddly they were "Out of coffee." Great service with ample parking as it is downtown Franklin. A definite must for a casual evening out. @YelpNashville

yes yes yes we loved our time here! definitely make a reservation on bust weekend nights! it's super easy through the website, but they will charge you $25 per person if you cancel your reservation last minute on them (which is fair they're a busy restaurant!!) please note: they do change their menu so if you like something now it might not be around next time you go back! we loved our food! we had the shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and seafood alfredo. Everything was wonderfully seasoned and was full of flavor. everyone loved their meals and we can't wait to go back and try more things from there! definitely recommend coming here! it's a super cute restaurant with friendly staff! it's perfect for a date night, or a family dinner!

Some of the best mixologists in Tennessee! All of the cocktails and options are top notch! Great food as well. And just met Jason Aldean in here...nice guy!

How are Covid precautions here?

The owner posted and endorsed an anti-mask rally in defiance of the mayor's mask mandate. That should tell you all you need to know.

Any gluten free options?

Yes....there are, but I don't recall the specific menu items. ?

They do get busy, but I have never had trouble finding a table. They have a nice outdoor seating area as well. The food here is tasty and healthy. I'm a fan of tasty meals that include plenty of protein and vegetables. My favorite meal here is the steak plate with red chile glazed sweet potatoes and a vegetable. Kung pao cauliflower is my favorite option, but it's seasonal. The Avocado Hummus is so good. It's creamy with a mix drizzle of olive oil and pepitas for some crunch. I've also enjoyed the Fall Salad and Forbidden Rice. I love that they rotate in seasonal items to keep things interesting. I don't love any of the desserts they offer. This would be one area I'd like to see them improve a bit. The cookie is fine, but not something I'd crave. Flower Child is a hit with my kids too. The kids salmon and macaroni and cheese are their favorites. The draft kombucha is great. Sometimes the tap is broken, but when it's working I love to get this. The curbside pick up is a big part of why I come here as often as I do. I love, love, love being able to schedule a healthy dinner pick up and not have to drag my kids in to get it. The time slots fill fast so schedule ahead! The system has been glitchy the last couple of times, but an employee said that I could call my order in if it happens again. The rewards program is great. Not only do points stack up for money off, but they occasionally load random freebies like a free dessert or drink. A free meal gets loaded for your birthday too. On their website they do occasional promotions for bonus cards with the purchase of gift cards. Check out Flower Child if you like healthy, tasty food.

Decor was minimalistic and cute inside. I could tell their products were clean and fresh! We have now ordered twice and each time our pick up order is ready promptly, even during lunch rush. The quality and the detail is still there each time! We all ordered the Mexican Street Corn Caesar two of us got chicken and one got the tamari salmon (bonus points for only being +$1 to sub for salmon or steak!) Very flavorful, the slice of lime is the perfect finishing touch! Squeeze that bad boy on and watch your world get rocked! We were all surprisingly full after the bowl, it didn't make us feel too bloated we were satisfied. It was worth every penny! (I also ordered a side of Grilled Pita and Hummus because I was thinking it wasn't going to fill me up and boy was I wrong because it did, but I was more than happy with the pita! You could taste the freshness, the pita was so soft. The hummus was smooth and creamy) Pro tip: Treat yourself and ORDER THE COOKIE. I repeat, just do it. Order that cookie. We are all HOOKED! The cookie is one of the best cookies out there at a lunch establishment! The hint of sea salt, the quality of the chocolate, the way the chocolate is THROUGHOUT the cookie (mirroring a layered cookie but still thin) is impeccable! Wait until your home and with glass of milk - perfection. Eat it as is plain - continued perfection. Make it an froyo sammy with their vanilla froyo - a perfect idea. No matter how you enjoy your cookie, it's going to be worth it. P.S. there is parking along the street, as well as a parking garage! Located tucked next to North Italia and Condado Tacos. Jenis is across the street, along with a wine bar. Perfect place for you to try next!

Find a surface lot in front of the restaurant or the lot behind the building. Both are a short walk. There are 10 minute spots if you are grabbing a to go order. The dining room offers plenty of seating with lots of natural light. There are booths for four and cozy booths for two. Getting lunch to go is so easy with Chopt. Orders can be placed on the app and grabbed from the cubbies to the left of the registers. My food has always been ready by the promised time. An employee is always behind the cubbies in case you need to talk to someone. On my last visit an employee noticed I'd have trouble grabbing my order with my toddler on my hip. She grabbed my order and brought it right around. Ordering in line feels like yelling the same thing over and over again. I wonder if marking off options on a sheet of paper would be better for everyone. It's not too bad if you're getting one item, but it's a lot if you have multiple items. The prices are reasonable for a healthier option. I find the bowls to be plenty of food. I like that bowls usually have a couple of protein sources. The bowls for kids are also a generous portion for just under $8. The food is delicious. Everything looks and tastes fresh. There are enough topping options and dressings to mix it up. The seasonal offerings have always been tasty. The Harvest Bowl is my favorite bowl. You choose your rice base and it has sweet potatoes, kale, apples, goat cheese, almonds, and dried cranberries. The white balsamic dressing is great with the other flavors. I enjoy the small piece of bread on the side. Chopt is on my list of favorites for a quick, healthy lunch. # -- True Hospitality Reveals Itself When Things Go Wrong…read more **Culinary Dropout** 4020 Aspen Grove Drive Franklin, TN 37067 A flawless dining experience is always a pleasure. But I have long believed that the true measure of a restaurant isn't how it performs when everything goes according to plan. It's how it responds when something doesn't. After a full day of traveling, our party of four arrived at Culinary Dropout, looking forward to our first proper meal of the day and an opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company. It was my first visit, and I was immediately impressed by the restaurant's size, lively atmosphere, and inviting ambiance. We arrived just as the live music was coming to an end. Our evening began with a few minor hiccups. Our initial server, who candidly mentioned that it was her first day, managed to get virtually every drink order wrong. Shortly afterward, another server, Jayden, introduced herself and took over our table. And this is where the experience became particularly noteworthy. Rather than making excuses or minimizing the situation, the staff and management took ownership of the mistakes. There were sincere apologies, attentive service, and a remarkably generous gesture of goodwill. What could easily have become an irritating start to the evening instead turned into a memorable introduction to genuine Southern hospitality. As for the food, we ordered fish and chips, turkey pastrami sandwiches, and a burger. Everything arrived fresh, well-prepared, and flavorful. The kitchen delivered exactly what one hopes for from this style of casual American dining: satisfying, well-executed food without unnecessary pretension. All four of us have worked in the hospitality industry at one point or another, so we understand that mistakes are inevitable, particularly when new employees are finding their footing. **Our five-star rating is entirely intentional.** Not because the evening was flawless, but because Culinary Dropout demonstrated something arguably more valuable than perfection: accountability, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to hospitality. The food was certainly good, but it was the people who left the strongest impression. **A restaurant's character is rarely revealed when everything goes right. On this occasion, Culinary Dropout showed us its character when something went wrong.** And we liked what we saw.

I think it likely gets "new kid on the block" bumps on ratings, as it should not have this high of ratings. Or did I just have a bad night to come there? First, this is a chain restaurant. I don't hold that against it, but I find chains tend to lack the attention a local restaurant, where the owners are in the place, tend to be better overall in quality, service, etc. Second, this place is WAY overhyped. The concept is very neat, so give kudos, but, in the end, it comes off like most chain restaurants and lacks the soul to make this a great experience. The atmosphere is cool. It is very open, so a bit noisy, but that is usual for restaurants these days. Arrived early, so got a seat at the large bar. Tried to convince her to just sit down and enjoy the bar, but she wanted a table. Service was average. Nothing to complain about, nothing to rave about. Kept on top of things, so can't complain. The ribs are fine, but way oversold. Fall off the bone, so not my favorite, as I like a little pull. I won't fault them for that, as some people like the meat uber soft. Not really fond of the sauce on it. Again, that is a preference thing. The menu makes them far more appealing sounding. THe star on the plate was the slaw. I am so-so on slaw, but this was my favorite part of the meal. The fist & chips were overbreaded. Fries were limp. Her fish & chips was definitely the low point. High point was on the Mississippi mud pie, which was a highlight. Not enough to kick it up a star, but definitely enough to keep it above dropping to a 2. I did like the drinks, so if she ever wants to venture for cocktails and appetizers, I will certainly give it some thought. OUtside of that, I would rather hit Drake's (another chain).

Initially started as a pop-up within Fait La Force Brewing, this location is their first brick-and-mortar full service location. I primarily come here for takeout, where I order ahead online, come in and pick up a completely sandwich, and go home to eat the messy deliciousness in peace. I've tried a few different options on my various visits here but my tried and true favorites continue to be the cranberry linger, a turkey / cranberry / Alabama white slaw / cheddar potato chip-stuffed sub. OR I also really love the Californication, which adds some spicy cheese, jalapeño slaw, and pepper jam to roasted chicken in a sub. Generally speaking, anytime they put chips on a sandwich, I'm likely to get it here. I'm blown away by the amount of interesting options and how tasty everything comes together. This is not your average subway meal. Each sub is music-inspired (with a catchy name) and some fresh, flavorful combinations with a lot of slaws and things made in house. I love that when you order a sandwich with chips inside to go, they put the chips in a separate bag so they don't get soggy while traveling. The sandwiches are huge, so I tend to get a half order sandwich and that fills me up as a meal. All the small thoughtful details from the staff are on showcase when you order from this spot. They are always so helpful in giving recommendations, making sure I am able to pick up my to go order quickly and with fresh-made food, and it's an overall awesome spot for lunch. I will continue to always choose them over other sandwich options in the area for fast, easy way service and just incredibly tasty options (FAR above what the chains are doing) at a very reasonably cheap price.
