We were the only customers around 3:30pm on a Thursday.

Took the kids here from the kids museum (just a block away). Service was great. The Sicilian mule was excellent. The food was below par though. My beef tagiata was very dry but the salad was great. The kids spaghetti was undercooked, the risotto balls weren't bad, the bruschetta were ok, and the garlic bread was ok but a bit oily.

We came for dinner around 8pm Saturday night. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of things like gnocchi and chicken parm, and it took a while to get our food after ordering. We got the carbonara, vodka ravioli, scallop risotto, margarita pizza and chicken cacciatore. The carbonara and ravioli were good, the chicken cacciatore and scallop risotto were ok. I wasn't a fan of the margarita pizza, but the tiramisu was really good and probably my favorite item out of everything.

What a dreamy experience! I took my very Italian stepmother to test the quality and got approval! We ordered the Cesar salad with salmon, calamari, vodka ravioli (with blacked shrimp - I wouldn't add this again), bolognese, tiramisu. My stepmother RAVED about the bolognese, meatball quality, and gravy. We sat outside which was serene. It's a fully enclosed patio with fans and umbrellas. But it was stunning, no direct baking sun, and no bugs. We also loved our server, Hippy! Very attentive and spot on recommendations! We will definitely return!

Chicken Parmigiana

Decided to give this place a try because my husband and I love Italian food. We were very disappointed and should have taken a clue based on the how empty the restaurant was on a Friday night. I ordered the scallops (overcooked) with risotto (swimming in sauce). My husband didn't like his chicken parmigiana either. The location is nice (downtown) and the ambience is nice! Service was also good.

I will 100% recommend to any and everyone..

Absolutely amazing and worth every single penny.. I will 100% recommend to any and everyone.. this is authentic Italian food . I've been to many Italian restaurants. This is the first Italian restaurant that I could genuinely tell that they don't use frozen food. Every other Italian restaurant does not gravy. The noodles were homemade and delicious tiramisu I will be going back for that every week now. I wish I got photos of our entrées. I got the chicken Parmesan 10 out of 10 all across the board. Also super cheap for how delicious and good this food was. Bathrooms are very clean. Staff and waiter were amazing. Great service. It's my new favorite place. I don't think I've been to a restaurant that checks off all my boxes like this one does. You're looking for somewhere to eat. Look no further.. This is the place.

Great experience on an early Sunday afternoon. Close to a free parking garage on the weekends. Staff was very attentive. Eggplant Parmesan was flavorful with delicious sauce. Housemade pasta was a plus especially with the warm garlic rolls. Very comfortable and clean restaurant with patio dining available.

I don't usually give the highest rating but I am thoroughly impressed. We did the prix fixe menu for restaurant week and every single item on that menu we ate and enjoyed to the fullest. We will be back for regular menu.

Gnocchi

I was told by numerous people to check out Gravy as the food was amazing. Amazing was a stretch as the gnocchi that was recommended as well was super rich, thick, and heavy. There was a lack of flavor, but heavy on the sauce and cream. I think due to this, the flavor of the peppers and other seasonings were drowned out. Three stars overall for the service and the people. My server was very kind and helpful. When she asked if I liked the gnocchi and I was honest with her, she quickly asked me what else I wanted, asked no questions, and got me something else. I decided to order the salada sandwich, which was a grilled mushroom pattie topped with grilled tomatoes and spinach. It lacked a lot of flavor, but adding the Caesar dressing and parmessian cheese helped. The food does not live up to its name or reputation, and that is why I won't return. Continue to have amazing service while improving the food!

Spaghetti and Meatballs Classic solid dish

Sat at the bar last night and had a lovely evening. Ashley the bartender was so personable and friendly. We loved chatting with her and she was helpful in picking our drinks and food order. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was a solid, flavorful plate. But my husband won the night. His Chicken Parmesan was delish. The chicken with crispy and juicy and sat on a full bed of pasta. We also had the garlic bread and which was warm, chewy, garlicky and had a nice crunch. It was busy but not too noisy which made the space feel lively and fun. Will definitely be back

The gnocchi here is exceptional. If there's anything I come back for it'll be the gnocchi every time. Gravy is a cute Italian restaurant in downtown Raleigh. You will need to find street parking or a parking deck. We walked in on a Tuesday night and it was busy so I assume you'll need reservations on the weekends. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful so 5 stars for the service. I saw people rave about the free garlic knots they bring to the table but ours were small and rock hard. We told our waitress and she brought back a softer plate of them but they were still overdone and not how I saw them in other pictures on yelp. For appetizers we got the risotto balls and they were decent. The marinara could've been more flavorful. For entrees we got the gnocchi and shrimp alfredo. The alfredo is part of the lunch menu but you are able to request it for dinner with a protein. The gnocchi was a 10/10. The flavors, textures, peppers, mushrooms, and everything else in there just worked so nicely together. I already see myself coming back often just to get this specific dish because it was that good. The shrimp alfredo was iffy. The alfredo sauce is really seasoned and delicious and they give a great amount of it which make the dish creamy unlike other places who serve noodles with barely enough sauce. However- the noodles were overcooked. The first time it came out the noodles were so hard and dry and no amount of sauce could've covered it up. We had to send it back. Our waitress had them remake it and the noodles were softer but still quite thick and dry. I think if the noodles were different and softer it would've been a perfect dish because the alfredo was really good so that was unfortunate. Not sure if it was just a bad day. Our server gave us dessert to go for the inconvenience and we chose cheesecake that I gave to my mom later who said it was soooooo good.

Panna cotta with fig honey

The chicken parm was crispy and cheesy the noodles were al dente so definitely a preference there. The bartenders were friendly and very attentive. The location is convenient right in downtown Raleigh, small so make sure you make reservations especially on the weekends!

I dropped in one evening while in the area. No real plans to come here, just famished. The service here is great. My waiter was Nate. Nate did a great job checking in often and keeping me hydrated anytime my glass of water was low. The restaurant is clean. Very comfortable seating here. The food was okay. I feel the best thing was the garlic knots and fettucini alfredo. My all-time favorite and go-to Italian - American style entree order is the chicken parmesan & fettuccini alfredo. I love the white and red sauce together. I guess this wasn't understood and the chicken parm wasn't marinated properly. I had to do the work of getting the red sauce over my chicken by asking for extra gravy. The chicken parmesan was flavored well. Overall: The calamari appetizer had a great flavor but the batter was not coated well and it fell off. I do feel calamari and the chicken was perhaps cooked too fast. I felt the inside of the chicken texture was weird for me which came from cooking too fast. The same for the risotto ball appetizer- - cooked too fast! These were Fried Arborio rice stuffed with fontina served over gravy (tomato sauce). The flavor was everything and I enjoyed that part but everything seemed to be cooked too fast. The rice stuffed in the balls wasn't piping hot like the external. Gravy didn't win my heart this time. I guess I may need to try one of the more popular dishes. I felt it was hard to mess up Chicken Parm, but for me, it fell short here.

Is outdoor dining available when raining (made reservations for 9 for outdoor)?

Hi there! Great question. If you booked a reservation for outside and it rains, we will move your reservation to a table inside one of our other spacious dining rooms!

We had to park across the street and it was paid parking - so that adds to your experience. We did a reservation - so it was simply walking up and checking in. We were immediately taken back to your table and service was prompt. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and what goodies we might like based on what we were looking for. Let me pause and give kudos to the ambiance of the restaurant. Walking in the courtyard with the water in the background, makes for a beautiful and relaxing start to the dining experience. Once inside, with all the tables, it still didn't feel overwhelming or cramp. The light was just right - not to dark and just right to set the mood. Very romantic. Now, for the food :) We decided on the following for the evening: Lasagna - Fresh pasta, beef and pork ragu, bechamel, reggiano, mozzarella Lamb Shank - Lamb, truffle mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables Ribeye - Cognac peppercorn cream sauce, truffle mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables Tagliere - Chef's selection of Italian meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables Tagliatelle - Bolognese: fresh pasta, beef and pork ragu, reggiano, parmigiano reggiano, San Marzano tomatoes A Caprese salad EVERYTHING was soooo good and tasty! The lamb was spoon tender, the ribeye was hearty and seasoned very well, the pasta dishes were so fresh and simply delicious. No one had a complaint for their dish at all. The veggies were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The meat and cheese board had the best pairing with the tender bread. WE will return soon!

We had a great eating experience overall at Mulino. There were 12 of us but because when we called…read morethey continually hung up the phone or the call would end (on a land line). We weren't able to make the reservation for 12 because it only goes up to 10 on OpenTable. We ended up having to make the reservation for 6 at one table and 6 at the other table. To tease us, they put the tables right across from each other and put a table of 2 right in between us. To make matters worse is that we were celebrating our wedding so it would've been nice to have us all together. The restaurant gave me and my husband champagne to try to comp this I suppose but would've been better if they could've seated us all together. We started with the crab cakes and arancini. The crab cakes were fine. The otter crust was crunchy and perfect. The arancini was stuffed with cheese, rice, and meat and it was delicious. They were also crunchy on the outside but so soft and good on the inside. I had the tagliatelle. The noodles were prepared perfectly. It was almost as if I was in Italy. Something I noticed in Italy was that the noodles were never cooked too softly. They were still more firm but edible and delicious and that's how they were prepared at this restaurant in Raleigh. The dish was excellent and very tasty. My husband had the medium rare Ribeye with peppercorn sauce over mashed potatoes with sautéed seasonal vegetables. This dish was prepared perfectly. The ribeye was delicious and mashed potatoes had a great consistency about it and seasoned well.

We parked on the second level and then took the elevator down to the street level. Walking into the Italian restaurant it feels upscale, approachable, casual, and high energy. The restaurant has high ceilings, warm lighting, and outdoor/indoor seating options. For this specific trip the event was taking place in bar. We grabbed a table in the bar and started to order some cocktails. That night I tried the Smoky Pear (mezcal, gran bassano bianco, fresh lemon juice, pear nectar, orange oleo, angostura bitters), the La Rossa Notte (reposado tequila, pomegranate syrup, fresh lemon, elderflower, fee foam), the Fico E Bourbon (buffalo trace bourbon, fig syrup, fresh lemon juice, gran bassano rosso), the Smoked Old Fashioned (buffalo trace bourbon, amarena cherry syrup, muddled orange, cucciolo bitters), and the Golden Hour (hennessy VS, amaretto, frangelico, pasubio amaro, vanilla bean syrup, chocolate and almond bitters). All of the drinks were excellent but my two favorites were the smoked old fashioned and the golden hour. The balance of flavors in the old fashioned were perfect and the drink was well made. The golden hour almost felt like a night cap/dessert drink which I'd recommend ending the evening on. For food there was a buffet setup with the Cacio E Pepe Arancini (arborio rice, black pepper, parmesan, basil aioli, fried sage), the Margherita Pizzette (San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, basil, evoo), the Diavolo Pizzette (San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, soppressata, pepperoni, aleppo, calabrian hot honey, basil), the Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Rigatoni (ricotta, parmesan, basil), the Gorgonzola & Black Garlic Alfredo Tagliatelle (parmesan, pecorino, herbs), the "sostanza style" butter chicken (lightly battered butter roasted chicken breast, side lemon arugula salad), and the Grilled New York Strip (pink peppercorn au poivre, crispy potatoes, smoked salt). By far the rigatoni & the tagliatelle were my favorites. The Diavolo Pizzette was also really good and definitely a must order. Overall I really enjoyed the experience at Cucciolo Terrazza and highly recommend checking it out if you are in the North Hills area.
