I cannot express in words the gratitude we have for Grasso's this evening after having a curb side pick up. We are all experiencing unprecedented times and the front lines are helping us all get through it. Health care professionals are obviously first. However restaurants like Grasso's are next in line. The customer service over the phone while ordering was remarkable. Their website outlines the precautions they are taking which makes for a less stressful experience. The curb side pick up was safe and efficient. And last but not least - the food. I can't even tell you. We know good food. We only eat good food. Grasso's will be on our top 3 list from now on. We were introduced to Grasso's this week by family. We gave it a try. We'll never stop using them! We went to Grasso's for Long Island Restaurant Week and the food was great. I had a crab meat pastry as an appetizer and Susan had the salad. Both quite good. We shared the chicken and the autumn squash main courses and neither wanted to exchange plates, that's how good both dishers were. Desserts were equally as good. The only thing that could make the food better would be better coffee--it was mediocre. They had a 3 piece jazz trio playing which just added to our enjoyment. The bar was busy and we thought it would be nice to sit at the bar one night and listen to music. Overall, we really liked Grasso's and look forward to our next dining experience there. read more

Food was ok but was wayyyy overpriced for what it was. I wouldn't pay their prices for food like that when other places make way better food for the same or even cheaper. The food is the level of a local Italian/pizzeria but the prices were that of a 5 star restaurant. The ambiance was really nice though loved the live music and the location. If they improve the food or drastically lower their prices I would defiently come back. read more

We were all excited to try this place again. We live in Huntington and after going to all of the restaurants tons of times in town, we thought we'd try something a little different. Last time we were here prior to this last visit we didn't leave upset, and we also didn't leave excited about some day returning. It has so much potential but maybe the owner(s) are ok with being just ok. Food is safe but nothing great. We saw four dishes sent back for various reasons but did not hear all details (although clearly made out steaks being prepared incorrectly and wrong dishes). Not sure again how many owners there are but we saw a couple of older, heavy women who seemed more concerned with pushing staff to rush table than to see how customers were doing. It was so obvious that they would grind their teeth and stomp to get a waiters attention, and wave at staff from behind customer backs (apparently not realizing an entire restaurant other than the people beg referenced can see). As we were standing up getting ready to walk from the table, they were already giving signs behind our back to change over the table and get the next seating asap. Yes, I am a business owner and understand the business side f restaurants having worked and managed them, but have not once seen such inconsiderate and flamboyant efforts to rush customers. Maybe a thank you and give us a few steps that give out your hand signals. I felt the large woman breathing on my neck and when I looked back she threw her hands down trying to hide them (again, not realizing an entire restaurant is watching and mumbling their disbelief again). And apparently not realizing others in our party were facing that way and saw her. What a shame Guess back to the same ol in Huntington and the city where there seems to be a little more effort to please and provide great food and atmosphere. read more

My husband and I ate dinner at grasso's recently. After dinner he became very sick and had an uncontrollable case of diarrhea resulting in a mess to the bathroom and his clothing. He uses a walker and tried to leave the restaurant as quickly as he could. In the process he must have accidentally broken a bottle of wine on another table. He normally has trouble walking and in this instance had even more trouble. In the interim I paid for dinner. The manager of the restaurant was very unsympathetic and called us the next morning to tell us that she added a charge to our credit account to pay for the broken bottle of wine as well as the cleanup. We never authorized the extra charge. Her action was in bad taste and illegal. We were treated horribly. My husband getting was unintentional and the cost of cleaning up is considered part of the cost of doing business. read more

We went with another couple to Grasso's on a Friday night. The food was tastefully presented and delicious! This bistro has a wonderful atmosphere and on that day even had live entertainment. I recommend this restaurant for small groups that just want a night out. read more

Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Staff unfriendly, food ok, drinks outrageous prices. They must think they are located in Manhattan. A rum and Coke was $11.00 and a house wine was $14.00. Last first and last trip there. read more

I have visited Grasso many times over the years and recently had an unpleasant Experience there. Although the food and waiter service were excellent, the manager, Janet Was awful. She yelled at the bar tender in full view of all the guests and had an awful disposition which was evident to every diner. She also began to push my party of four up from Our table when we were seated for about 90 minutes and still enjoying our dessert. She told us she needed the table for another reservation and when we told her we would like to finish our dessert first, she stood near the table and stared at us with a very unpleasant look on her face. She then asked us to move to the bar for a free after dinner drink and we declined and told her we would rather leave and not ever return. Certainly Gail Grasso deserves better from her staff. Apparently, this is a common problem at what would otherwise be a fabulous dining experience. Get rid of Janet, she degrades a fine restaurant. Michael C Northport NY read more

We had a great experience at Grasso last night. The live entertainment and food were excellent. The service was on-and-off (friendly waitress, but the staff seamed to not have their timing down pat). I highly recommend the bananas foster dessert. They roll out a cart and make it right in front of your table. Overall, a highly enjoyable night. read more

We stopped coming a few years ago, because the woman at door was not very friendly, and when we go out of our way to dine somewhere, the last thing we want , is someone with an attitude at the door. I have been here before and haven't been disappointed with the food. In fact, I would give the food 4 stars. But the service is just awful. We spent good money on a bottle of wine, appetizer, two entrees and coffee. We definitely felt rushed. During coffee, my guest and I were talking and were rudely interrupted by a hostess telling us that we had to get up to give the table to someone else as they were very busy. $250+ on dinner, and we get kicked out. I was embarrassed, as I had recommended this place to a few friends. Will not make the recommendation again. Service is awful. read more

Going out on New Years eve is always a hit or miss possibility. This year we decided to stay locally and tried Grassos for an early dinner. We were the last one to be seated in the music room and got stuck sitting in a seat that was in the midst of high traffic. Understandably, it was high spirited and crowded because it was new years eve full of happy celebrants. We were not sitting more than a few minutes when a waiter accidentally passed by us, knocking over our drinks, on my velvet jacket, chair, floor table. The staff of the restaurant could not have been more attentive! Immediately jumped into action, cleaning us up and bringing new drinks. The owner put her arm around me and promised to make it up to us. A few minutes later, the best table in the room opened up and we were moved to a quieter more romantic table in the corner. It was New Years Eve and the Jazz music was phenominal. We were able to dance, and enjoy the music. But the highlight was the exceptional food. For appetizer, the scallops couldn't be beat anywhere, the crab cake nicely prepared and delicious, and the seared tuna and its accompaniments a pure ten! For desert, we had bread pudding... a perfect finale to what became the perfect new years eve! We are grateful to the owner and staff for helping us bring in 2014 with such elegance and class and the most enjoyable meal we had in a while. It is a difficult night for a restaurant to pull off so successfully and they certainly did! Thank you Grasso's! We will be back! read more

Enjoyed the Sunday brunch here with live jazz music. The ambiance is great and they serve complimentary mimosas, screwdrivers, or bloody mary to start if that's your thing. They serve you fresh bread with a few different jams which were excellent. Had the eggs della nonna aka "Eggs in Purgatory" which was pretty good, the combination of the poached eggs in tomato sauce with melted fontina cheese was unique. Only downside was the service, it can take quite a while to get your food and lack of staffing as only one waiter was running the tables. read more

Had dinner at Grasso's on Wednesday night with my wife and friends. Lovely setting. Dance music. What a treat. Excellent waiter, Henry. Great service. Now for the food and will only discuss my meal Had three appetizers for my meal. Began with raw Bluepoint oysters. From New England, so fussy about my oysters. Superb! Cold, soft but meaty, and tasty! Some of the best I've had in a long time. Often oysters are served room temperature and have little taste. These hit the spot. Oh, and I asked for horse radish, as I always do. My waiter brought it. 9 out of 10 times waiters fail to bring the horse radish that I ask for. I then had the figs stuffed with goat cheese . MELT IN YOUR MOUTH DELICIOUS. Slightly warm and light as air. Also ordered grilled calamari. Had an unexpected sweetness to it because of the balsamic vinegar. Perfect! Not huge portions, thank goodness. But enough to satisfy and leave you wanting to come back for more . . . Just to experience that unique taste. Dessert? I do not order dessert unless the restaurant has Italian cheese cake. Grasso'o did . . . Not too firm, not to soft. Room temperature, home made, hint of lemon and orange. THAT'S ITALIAN CHEESE CAKE! Good Italian food is NOT heavy! Honest. I tasted my wife's tagelatelli (sp.), as well as my one friend's shrimp, and her husband's cavetelli bolognese (sp.) . . . Superb. Meaty pieces of shrimp and "Little Italy" bolognese sauce (really called gravy because there is meat in it). Coffee with home made biscotti all around. Light as a feather biscotti . . . Remember, good Italian food is NOT heavy! Drinks were made perfectly and the Hess Cabernet was poured into appropriately shaped wine glasses. Yes, it makes a difference. In short . . . Well worth the price. You do get what you pay for. Can't wait to go back. P.S. In response to the comment about poor back parking . . . It wasn't a parking lot. Good food in a charming ambience of beautiful Cold Spring Harbor village. Very nice bar where you can see out to the village while you dine. Also live music at night. Outdoor tables provide charming atmosphere with pretty plantings and flowers...very enjoyable for a nice lunch! Recommend crab cakes for lunch! read more

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years and are never disappointed. We live in Huntington Village where restaurants are plentiful but few are amazing. This place is. The jazz here is excellent and the food is outstanding. We love the short ribs, the bolognese, the lobster mac and cheese, the pork tenderloin, and the salmon. Many of the appetizers are also wonderful.....one of them being a puffed pastry with an outstanding filling. I also adore the beet salad. It is by far the best I have had in my life. In terms of the staff, everyone is always very nice and accomodating. We always leave this restaurant in a great mood. Basically, it is difficult for me to drag my husband out on Friday nights after a long work week. However, if I mention going to Grassos, he usually caves. My wife and I have been enjoying this place for almost a year. The food is always delicious, well prepared and innovative. The staff is friendly and efficient. Every day there is entertainment starting at about 7:30. This includes jazz trios or singers with a duo or trio. All the groups we have encountered have been wonderful. It is an extreme pleasure to be able to eat in a place where we can enjoy wonderful american cuisine with terrific entertainment. The food was good and the price was pretty good as well. It's been a while since I was last there, but we had family friends throw private parties there as well. I too would throw parties if I lived closer. I don't totally recall what we had, but I recall the mussels being very fresh and delicious (mussels on past, maybe?). I read the reviews before going to Grasso's. With a 50/50 good and bad set of reviews we decided to try it anyway. I am sooooo happy we chose to go. Without any hesitation, I can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Just as a reference point, I eat at the Huntington upscale restaurants frequently.The second you walk in you immediately feel comfortable. The decor, lighting, and jazz sets the stage for a comfortable, upscale, and memorable experience. I glanced at my husband and he said "Good choice!" I responded with "I hope the food lives up to the ambiance." Well it more than lived up to it. The service was impeccable. Wait staff was attentive and efficient. The silverware was replaced at every course and the table was wiped free of crumbs (2 things you rarely see done anymore). We were a party of 4....all salads were delicious we got the arugala, the watermelon feta and the caesar. My salmon was cooked correctly (a little underdone in the center...perfect!!!!) which no one seems to know how to do. The pork chop was delicious. The desserts were outstanding....bread pudding, berry Napolean, and mousse cake. We stayed til closing...we truly did not want to leave. A singer joined the musicians half way through our meal which made things even better. I cannot wait to go back. This is my new favorite place. read more

Michael and the waitstaff at Grasso's helped to make my daughter's baby naming and first birthday a success! They took care of every detail to ensure that all of my guests and myself were taken care of. The staff helped with set up and clean up and even drove all of our things at the end of the party back to my house! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect! They had live music playing during the event and accommodated all of my requests involving the kids. I would highly recommend Grasso's for a regular dinner night or for a private party! This restaurant is horrible. When I arrived, I was rudely greeted by the hostess/owner. Being that it was my first time going to Grasso's, I was 20 min late for my reservation. After the owner rudely stated that she has more people coming in, suggesting I should rush through my dinner, I apologized and explained that I had tried to call and forewarn them several times but there was no answer. Mind you, when I initially made these reservations I specifically stated that I was coming for the jazz performance. The jazz band, Ernie Byrd and Friends, were scheduled to begin playing at 7:30pm. Now let's put two and two together, my reservations were for 6:45pm, the jazz band began at 7:30pm, obviously, I was planning on spending quite some time there. I was planning on staying there until at least 10pm. Now, I just want to say, I really enjoyed the jazz performance until the owner rudely came up to me and reiterated that she had people waiting. Mind you, I had ordered an appetizer, dinner and three glasses of wine by this time; obviously I was not sitting there free loading. Since I had told her I would like to stay a little longer because I was really enjoying the jazz performance, she then went over to the band and asked them to stop playing and had a waiter bring over my check. I was so disappointed. I have never been treated so poorly by any restaurant or place of business as I was treated at Grasso's. I will never go there again. Their food was nothing extravagant, bland and was over priced. I refuse to go to a place of business that treats its customers like second class citizens.
