I have lamb Chops but this place has the best lamb chops I've had in a long time. I ordered for pickup and it was prompt. The service was good and the food was even better. The place is a bit tricky using GPS So pay attention. It seems like a place forthe community and very busy at night there is ample parking all around the building. I have been going her for over 30 years so I love the food and Kerri is best waitress you have. Well today I went for lunch was waiting 25 minutes for my waitress to greet me. The customer next door got up to let them know I was waiting. then her waitress waited on me. not very good service. I then told her it wasn't because of her but I wanted a manager because of long wait. Then I asked waitress for $1 back for my change. she threw all of my change and was very rude telling me to have a good day! I left no tip after this. I then told manager about this. Grassfields is an institution. Has a loyal following and a huge amount of regular customers. There is a large bar, booths and large tables available. They do not take reservations for less than 5 people....so be prepared for a wait if you have a smaller group on a peak night. Drinks: good pricing, strong pours, small selection Food: large portions, meat, seafood menu. The food is decent-but not great. It's exactly the quality you'd expect for the price point. So that being said.....this is exactly the place to bring the over 65 crowd. Picky eaters, don't want to spend much....perfect restaurant. Also....not a bad place to watch the game. The place used to be wonderful. I have been there with my family and recommended to my friends. Today I decided to go with my wife ,what deception the price is up a lot and the quality decrease 80% My wife could not be able to eat the tips, very bad meat and the rice horrible.Cheap grain very dry nothing like before . I decided to give a feed back to a manager and she only was worry that I was asking for free food and when I said it was just a feedback she says ok and left it is all she was worried about. Service was on point! We were hungry travelers and arrived at 8:15 (closes at 9). Seated immediately. Friendly waitress. Quick with drinks, bread and butter. My husband got the scrod-Cajun with vegetables (zucchini, carrots, yellow squash and peppers) pretty bland. I got the Mediterranean salad with shrimp added. This was a good,filling salad. What a gem in North Andover. You can tell that Grassfields is a local favorite as the restaurant was packed at 5PM on a Tuesday. Once you sit down, they give you a mini loaf of bread and butter! I had the marinated steak tips, rice pilaf, and scallops, all for about $20! What a deal!! The meat was a perfect rare-medium rare, flavorful, and the rice pilaf is one of my favorites I've ever had. I'm afraid Grassfields has too many issues, so much so that they seem to have a policy of giving you a free appetizer for every mistake. This evening we were given two appetizers - one for a mistake in being seated when we did, and one for cooking my steak tips very well done rather than the medium rare I requested. I came up to the Andover for work and couldn't leave without getting some tasty food from the area. I throw on the Yelp and found this gem not too far from my Hotel. I came her solo on a Thursday night and took a seat at the bar. The waitress was awesome and super helpful. I was torn between the lobster roll (naturally) and the lobster pie. Once I navigated trough one of the hardest decisions in my life and I landed on the lobster pie and I couldn't be more happy. Let's start with the steak tips, I normally asked for them to be cooked medium well, and they came out cooked to perfection and nicely seasoning. The lobster pie was simply incredible. Showed up for very early dinner and the place was happening. Very clean, nice and casual inside the restaurant. All the staff was helpful and pleasant. Nice variation of steak, seafood and some pasta dishes. I am enjoying Maryland crab casserole and is very full of nice sweet crabmeat. Also comes with a nice side of rice pilaf. Have a friend in from out of town and we decided on Grassfields last night for dinner. I have never been there so wasn't sure what to expect. When we arrived, they said wait would be 20-25 minutes but it only ended up being a little over 10. We started with the Mexican egg rolls and they were very good. I had the crab pie and it was excellent. The rice with spinach was also very tasty. Service from Lauren was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and seemed to work well together. Very disappointed in the service at the bar. The bartender took our order and forgot about us. After 10-15 minutes, I spoke up and asked another server if she could ask the bartender to get our drinks. My husband and I went for lunch one afternoon. The food was just all right, nothing special. I was quite disappointed that my scallops still had the tough muscle tag left on them. When my husband mentioned it to the waitress she said she would talk to the chef. She came back and told us the chef said he is too busy to remove that from the scallops!.... I mean really??! obviously he's more lazy than busy. I have eaten A LOT of scallops in my lifetime... and at truly busy places like Cape Cod and Maine during the Summer and have never had the tags left on. So we ordered the lamb Rack of Lamb: Lamb was very lamb-y for someone who loveee lamb my husband loves lamb he never complains about lamb I do that is why I don't eat one. But he doesn't like this lamb he said this lamb too lamb-y but the cook is done well. The seasoning is fine too. Veggie though ehm hum.... I volunteer at soup kitchen I know how frozen veggies look like and taste like. So I leave it there. Crispy chicken piccata: chicken were cooked-to death- super crispy with panko crumbs. Pasta cook fine. On the menu said It will be served with linguini(small flat noodles) I got spaghetti (medium round noodles) -that's not super big deal just false advertising- the most thing that bothers me, the piccata sauce. I am no cook nor italian, but I know and love piccata, it's so thick and floury. When I asked the waitress if it comes with alot of capers she said oh yeah it's in the sauce. Oh awesome can I have extra capers? She comes back with extra blob sauce that has total 8 capers in it. So it's a premade piccata sauce? Got the crabmeat pie; I was excited by the description but not impressed. Too buttery, couldn't really taste the crab. The magarita was good sized tasted good. Service was way off their game. Nice enough, but on a Saturday night we sat there a good 45 minutes waiting for the server to come acknowledge us. We had to flag him down to get the bill. Grassfields in Andover used to be the go to restaurant in the Merrimack Valley. They have gone down hill since the original owners sold it. Chicken is tough, baked potato's look like they have been hanging around for a week and are never hot. The butter won't even melt on the potato. If you want bread you have to ask for it or you won't get any. Most of the servers have a lousy attitude. If you don't order alcoholic drinks you don't get good service. One of the most delicious meals aka Lobster Pie I've ever eaten. Other meals there are cooked to perfection & presented beautifully. Bar drinks are a treat! Prices are reasonable for what you get.
