Palmers rocks. Best spot in Andover for live music. Food is solid. Atmosphere is different in a great way.

Ask the Community - Palmers Restaurant & Tavern

Anyone have more opinions on the live music weekends? What kind of crowd/age range would show up on a typical Friday night?

They get good bands so all ages usually check it out. I noticed that the younger only stay if the place is crowded but everyone else stays for the music.

She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced without ever rushing us. The drinks were well-crafted and delicious. We loved the crab cakes and wings as appetizers -- the crab cakes were so generous they could easily be a full meal. For dinner, we both had the Brix Burger, cooked perfectly with a great char and tons of flavor. I love the cozy vibe while still being able to watch the game. Even when it gets busy, the service stays excellent. The whole staff is friendly and attentive. We can't recommend Brix Grill enough -- and if you go, ask for Evelyn!

Reasonably okay lunch spot but dinner wasn't great. I will give them credit, they are trying... but…read morethe cocktails with a burnt piece of rosemary for a "smoked" flavor were absolutely terrible (first time in my life I didnt finish a cocktail). It was like drinking liquid used to extinguish a burning christmas tree. (also this was paired with a fruity pink drink....not really a great combo) Dinner was overall fine but nothing really to right home about, crab cakes were great but the fried calamari had zero salt on it and was a bit chewy. The chicken florentine wasn't bad but it was not a thinly pounded or sliced piece of chicken that was pan fried....it was a whole breaded chicken breast that was deep fried. The service was good but it didnt make up for the food being just okay.

She gave us all the time we needed to have our cocktail catch up with each other and brought us a delicious lunch. We both had the crab pie with the baked stuffed shrimp...Sooo good.... Grassfields reminded me, in a nostalgic way, of a restaurant at which I worked in my college years…read more The decor, the ambiance, the wine list, the service, and the menu items, all contributed toward that. I suppose "rustic" would be a good term to describe the interior. The menu offers steaks at prices you'd have a difficult time finding elsewhere in the area, plus chicken, lamb, veal, and interesting specials. Our large group was seated over two tables, which worked well for us in terms of quality conversation among interested folks. Service was quick, friendly, and professional, and all our dinners came out at the same time. We ordered a few appetizers. They were good but a little inconsistent. The mozzarella sticks, homemade, were a little unconventional, with a panko-mozzarella crust. Better, in my opinion, were the buffalo chicken tenders. I mis-read the description of my Argentine Bowl, thinking it was more of a salad. It was steak tips, avocado, tomatoes, and black beans over rice, quite tasty. The person sitting next to me ordered a dinner special the lamb shank osso bucco. While the meat was delicious and tender, it could have had even more seasoning on it, and there was an unexpected amount of fat on the shank. Parking is a little awkward given the shape of the shopping center, and the location of the restaurant. It was nice to see signs designating spaces closest to the restaurant reserved for their customers. This restaurant was the go-to restaurant for the family hosting the dinner event. I can understand why, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Tavern on High is definitely a favorite place of ours these days. My go to is the Asian Quinoa…read morePower Bowl with chicken. Somehow they manage to make it feel both healthy and a little decadent. We also love the flatbreads and deserts, and the chicken sandwich and burgers have been great as well - really can't miss. The only thing really missing is a few more solid vegetarian protein options - it would be wonderful to be able to get a grilled tofu steak on that Asian Quinoa Salad. Service is fantastic - you enter from the patio side (steps up front and ramp along back of the patio). These guys are well and professionally staffed and we've always been met and seated quickly. All of our servers have been knowledgeable and helpful in making selections. They have regular tables, high tops, bar seating and outdoor tables. There are dedicated water bowls for anyone who brings a pup (outdoors only) and the dogs I've seen have been well behaved and adorable. We've never brought our dog, but he's still greeted and admired by staff as we pass by on a walk. That really says all you need to know about the wonderful people. Parking is in the lot right out front surrounding the small High Street courtyard or on the street. The dining patio overlooks that same courtyard. All in all a great combination of good food and a nice but casual atmosphere.

I got their hot chocolate. They also have private rooms for large parties.
