Very very good, fast service and great workers. Pasta had a great texture. Pesto sauce has great flavor. read more

Grassa - Salad Near Me - Vancouver, Washington

See all

Amazingly great addition to the Vancouver Waterfront! Grassa is a superb place for superb handmade pastas, meatballs and Caesar salad! The cocktails are so fun and the garlic bread cannot be missed! Staff is very friendly and super helpful. Has become one of our weekly go to restaurants for lunch or dinner. Now we just need a Lardo's in Vancouver! read more

Service was great, the person at the checkout was friendly and had suggestions for us. I think it's odd that it feels upscale but you order at the front and seat yourself. I liked it, just wasn't what I was expecting. Calamari was great! read more

Went there for the first time and love the location across from the waterfront. Took awhile to read the menu on the wall, but they do have printed menus as well. The rigatoni was delicious and good portioned. The sauce had chunks of pork unlike some ragu with invisible ground meat. The fritto mixto was fresh, good portion, and good price. However, the agnolotti was a smaller portion and not as tasty. Would not order that again. read more

We've been here twice and really enjoyed the quick service, delicate noodles and sauces.

I got the pasta with the truffle and it was delicious! The Cesar salad and Brussels sprouts were really nice as well. Cute space on the waterfront. I took off one point because I don't like places that don't have table side service read more

Great location and ambience and incredible food for a great price. We shared spaghetti carbonara, cesar salad and fried calimari. All came quickly, steaming hot, and perfectly flavored. I am not sure why the ratings are not higher but I am definitely going back. read more

I love Grassa, always have. But Joe Lewis does not work at this location and he is the very best thing about going to Grassa. Somebody please bring him in here. Grazie. read more

Great fresh and fast Italian food made from scratch. Price is right on mark for what you get and I like the fact that do counter service. The vibe is really nice with large windows that can open when the weather is nice, they also have plenty of patio seating. My go to dish is the rigatoni with some garlic bread. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and not only are the prices good but the food is delicious! You definitely have to try the Brussels sprouts! More of a casual environment than fine dining. read more

We arrived late to Portland/Vancouver after a day at the beach today and this Grassa staff was amazing. They helped us order and made us feel welcome at all times. We tipped them a THANK YOU and cannot endorse this space enough! read more

We ( my husband, grandson and I ) had lunch here today. You order the food at the counter and they give you a number to take for your table. They bring the food for you. Our grandson is on gluten free diet and they were very helpful pointing out what type of pasta they will make GF. We ordered a Caesar salad for me as an appetizer . It came pretty fast and had an anchovy , which I really like in traditional Caesar salad. On top of the salad was preserved lemon, which was a refreshing addition! My husband had Grassa meatballs, which I found pretty spicy, but good. He also ordered the Wild mushroom Alfredo which he was super happy with! My grandson and I shared GF Carbonara that came with pancetta, pecorino and a fried egg. It was very filling! My husband and I also had garlic bread. --- Overall an excellent lunch! read more

I love this style of eating where you don't have a server waiting on you. You order and sit. The food was surprisingly yummy, had a clean, & nice ambiance! The big rig was good with a strong garlic flavor, the wild mushroom pasta was delicious with a delicious hint of lemon.... But the big hit we loved was the butternut squash pasta. I would've loved the browned butter to be drizzled and not soaked, but the flavors were amazing! read more

Waited weeks and well worth it. Started with the Iceberg Wedge which isn't your typical wedge. The kick with the chiles, crunch of breadcrumbs and crème fraiche were delish. For the finale, had to go with the Big Rig with the white bolognese and porcini. WILL BE BACK!! read more

I'm not a fan of the setup. It's pretty casual with ordering at the counter. I had the tomato pomodoro. It lacked flavor and was oily. No plans to return. read more

We had the roasted beets, Carbonara and garlic bread. All of the food we had was very good. The pasta was made fresh.

Not sure how this place has so many good reviews. The plates were dirty, water cups smelled of bleach, and food was just okay. We paid almost $80 for a bowl of pasta, Caesar salad, and two drinks. The pasta was okay, Caesar salad could have been better and drinks were not good. Wine was served in a cup and cocktail was not prepared correctly. For the price, I would expect for this to be a sit down restaurant but instead you're made to stand in line to order. I'd skip the Vancouver location and maybe just go to the PDX one if you are dying to try grassa. read more

I came here for lunch today and ordered carbonara. It was not good at all. Tasted bland and like a macaroni and cheese canned sauce with extra butter. It was 70.00 for lunch for 3 of us. They were out of garlic bread and had unsweet tea with no sweetener. I will not be going back. I see some that liked and it and some that don't. I am a definitely no. I hope they can make it! read more

So so delicious; we had the brussels, chop salad, and two different pastas. The drinks were awesome and the food was generously portioned and very flavorful. We had a great time but it was hard to find seats! read more

I came here with my boyfriend and we tried three entrees. The spaghetti aglio, the carbonara, and the rigatoni. The rigatoni changed my life. It was so good and the braised pork was a delicious touch. The carbonara wasn't my favorite at all and the aglio was okay but felt like it was missing something. I think adding chicken or shrimp would be a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice date night. read more

Dinner party of 8 on a Friday night. The restaurant was not busy so food came out quickly. Our orders consisted of Brussels, salads, 3 types of pasta, meatballs, and garlic bread. Salads were full of flavor and fresh. Brussels sprouts were also a favorite of the night. The pastas were a total let down. One pasta dish with mushrooms was raved about but all other dishes completely lacked flavor. I'm don't typically salt my food but I could of used a shaker. The Mac n Cheese was light and not overly saucy but definitely lacked any flavor. My teenagers stated it was not very good and barely ate it. 6 of 8 found the food bland. There were a lot of possible leftovers that no one chose to take home. read more

We had a great experience at Grassa - Vancouver. The food was great and the employees were very friendly. It is a fun, casual experience that is relaxing. read more

As far as the food I would give it a 5, but there is no service, it is self serve where you have to order from the counter and they bring it to your table. Very well decorated and bright, upbeat setting, but you have to tolerate LOUD rap and/or heavy metal rock. I will be doing takeout in the future because the music gave me a migraine. read more

We ate at Grassa on a Saturday night. The parking was difficult, but the line at the restaurant was not long, easy to find a table. The waiters were very friendly, but service was very slow - it was 45 minutes before we received our pasta (and we felt it was a basically fast food pasta restaurant). The wedge salad was a disappointment - maybe our fault as we assumed it would be a blue cheese dressing, but was a spicy lemon creamy dressing The fusilli alla vodka pasta was spicy and yummy (which I like, but maybe too spicy for the average person). Garlic bread was good, thankfully it was delivered before the main course as we were starving. Our biggest frustration was the "heavy metal music" - number one reason we would not return!! Play some subtle soft rock or soft country so the patrons can talk. read more

Everything was perfect, staff were friendly and the food absolutely delicious!!! Would definitely recommend!!!

Very unfortunate for the group/individual that owns this establishment!! It's not the food or the location; and hell, not even the servers that are the problem here... it's management and the person handling the takeout orders ... both worked on the afternoon on 5/27/23. read more

Very disappointing! Food average. Employees not friendly. Sterile environment. Wine not so good.

Overall our experience was lack luster. With the prices the way they are I don't like that we have to wait in line to order our food at the front and seat ourselves. It wasn't clear if we should bus our own table afterwards. The overall ambiance was cold and industrial. Pasta was pretty bland and tasteless and the Cesar salad that I got was inedible. I thought getting a cocktail would take the edge off a bit but I think the person making it might have been new and mixed my drink up with another one on the menu so it wasn't what I wanted. I would have gone up to the counter to rectify my experience but there was a line with people ordering their food so I didn't want to be a bother. I hear the one in Portland is good, so I don't know if this is a one off. Either way I don't think I'll be going back to this location. read more

I'm leaving a review bc of the fact I've contacted Grassa with my complaint and they have not bothered to respond. I agree with other complaints on this feed that their pasta is undercooked and undersalted. The food needs more options as well. We came into the restaurant to celebrate my brothers graduation from pharmacy school. He graduated as a doctor. There were a total of 4 doctors dining that evening with us. I had my 10 lb service dog who is ARTICULATELY TRAINED for my two disabilities with me. My husband was asked at the front while ordering if he was a service dog and we responded yes. (He was clearly marked with his red service jacket on). We proceeded to sit at their padded benches, as we had a larger party. Bc of my disability, my small dog sits directly next to my lap, on the bench. This is permitable under the ADA law. Service Dogs need to be viewed as medical equipment. I noticed the front register staff whispering and talking as they looked in my directionx. The register gentleman came over and again addressed us, stating 'we don't allow dogs on the benches. Your dog must be placed on the floor.' I then placed my dog directly on my lap so my dog could continue to do his work. (Not all service dogs are the same, and should be understood to be working in a number of different capacities). Again, I was approached a third time by the manager this time after the staff did much more scoffing at me. She stated, 'we do not allow your dog to be on our benches here at all. He must be on the floor.' My husband then told her he was working, bc he was, and that she was disrupting him from doing his work. I also handed her a card with the ADA law on it which states restaurants are to allow access to the dogs wherever they would give access to the handler. She angrily walked away. I was so disturbed by this point, I could not eat! My dog is highly trained and I was shocked to see the mocking attitude of the three staff members. I did write to the restaurant, explaining exactly why my service dog does not belong on the floor and how he services me. I received no response. What I do know is, if they continue to make unrealistic demands to disabled people, they will be facing fines or an ADA lawsuit. I continue to await their response. read more

I really wanted to like this place, as it was recommended by a friend. The self serve concept didn't work at all and took away from any dinner experience. There's virtually no service, it was disorganized and staff couldn't be bothered to bring even red Chile flakes. Instead I was directed where they were, and had to leave my food and things behind or gather them all up to walk to the other side of the restaurant to get myself. Also, if you forget to order something (garlic bread for me) I had to go back in line while my food sat getting cold. Personally, I think most people go out to eat because they want to be waited on, breakfast and lunch this concept may work ok but in a dinner atmosphere when you're spending over $20 (garlic bread not included) on a plate of pasta you expect to be serviced. Not to mention, you're still asked to leave a tip for them doing the bear minimum, and nothing more. I wouldn't recommend this place, food was subpar, and no with no service you'd be better off staying home and cook yourself. read more

The pasta is outstanding here. If I could be here everyday I would. Affordable, good atmosphere, and it honeslty fits at the waterfront perfectly. read more

Wonderful house made fresh pasta, the best Caesar salad we've ever had that we didn't have to make and a nice, covid safe environment, what more could you ask for? How about a friendly drink made in front of you? Done! Check it out! read more

Attempted another dinner here and the jazz music in background was so loud my group couldn't gave a nice relaxing conversation ~. Back to driving to the Portland location. read more

Excellent homemade, fresh pasta. The bucatini carbonara was excellent! Menu consists of pasta, a few salads and garlic bread (which was also amazing). read more

The food here is great. I really wish it was a full sit down restaurant but I'll take what I can get. Only minor things I had a little problem with was the really dirty windows. Several had food smeared all over them. But overall is a good experience. Come here for good food. Not necessarily to relax. read more

Simple, tasty and elegant pasta dishes. Cocktails are delicious. My only negative comment is that more must be done to eliminate the flies problem inside. Other than that our new favorite spot for some fresh and very good pasta. Carbonara was my favorite. read more

So disappointed in our dinner last night. It was our first Grassa experience and we won't be returning. Staff was indifferent and not helpful. We asked for a wedge salad with no peppers. It came to the table full of peppers. 3 of the 4 meals we ordered arrived together. We asked no fewer than THREE TIMES for the 4th entree. It finally arrived AFTER our other meals were eaten. There was no apology. Two of the bowls of pasta were cold when served, like they had been sitting a long while. And the actual bowls were cold. Be sure to order everything you want the first time you are at the counter, otherwise you need to stand in the long line again. Drink options are limited to the actual mixed cocktails on the menu. No martinis or custom drinks. Limited wine selection. Pasta was under cooked. We enjoy al dente pasta, but this needed a good three more minutes to be edible. The kid's marinara and meatball was by far the best entree we had. The rigatoni had good flavor despite being under cooked and cold. Atmosphere is industrial and loud. The concept is interesting (order and pay at the counter, find your own seat, no one checks on your experience). I read reviews from other locations about the piping hot pasta and sauce, the friendly staff and the great service. The Vancouver Grassa has none of that. read more

underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. I had been encouraged to try this by friends and I am a huge Italian cuisine fan so I obliged. Went with friends at a busy time so I didn't have high expectations for quick service or anything like that. It was an ok environment, I quickly learned that for dinner a "cafeteria" style environment was not my vibe. I applaud the staff for trying their best in this busy time. I got a drink in a can so it would come un-opened, I don't like to order open drinks in a cafeteria style restaurant especially one that's so unorganized... it came opened. I did not feel comfortable drinking it and did not want to wait in a 30 minute line for another one. Also, this isn't an establishment in which the drink should come opened anyways! If i get a drink in a can i should be the only one opening it, or a server who's opening it right in front of me. I got the carbonara which i was super excited about until i tasted it. Literally the most disappointing part ever. They must have ran out of pancetta because it was served with pork belly, and the sauce was 90% pasta water and 10% sauce. I could not bring myself to eat it... just gross. My sweet friend ended up sharing her cacio e pepe with me which was alright, but greasy. We both left unsatisfied and in need of a good italian meal, which we found at La Botegga after we left. Overall, a waste of money, a loud and crass environment, and less than marginal food. read more
