Sink Replacement

Very satisfied with the service provided by this company. My granite countertop had a crack that had spread overtime and they were able to cut the counter enough to remove the crack from continuing to spread, yet perfectly fit the oversize farmhouse sink I wanted installed. Prior to purchasing the sink, Lionel was always available to answer questions to ensure I would order the correct one and eliminate the hassle of having to make returns. I also like that they already have a plumber that they work with and can refer in case you do not have one. On the day of the sink installation, they coordinated with the plumber, very organized and right on schedule. Additionally, they made sure to leave the sink (stainless steel) very clean and spotless. It's been a few weeks now and no issues at all. Overall, Lionel and his team did an amazing job from start to finish. I highly recommend them!

The before picture......

Let me start by saying that you will not go wrong with Granite Doctor AZ! Lionel and his crew know their stuff. In Dec 2009, Stone City (a sister company) installed our kitchen granite and sink and in January, 2010 they did our bathroom counters and sink. We were very happy with this experience. Flash forward to January, 2020 and I noticed a crack in our bathroom vanity. It was cracked enough that a slight leak was starting to occur. Boy was I surprised when I called the number for Lionel in my phone. Within days he came out and said that they could remove the sink and replace with little problem. While he was at the house, I had him take a look at the kitchen sink (a Blanco SILGRANIT sink). While it was beautiful at first install, after a few months, it was starting to chip and show extreme wear. Now, 10 years later, it really looked bad. Lionel mentioned that Blanco had added a lifetime warranty to their sinks and that ours may be covered. He sent me the information and I contacted the company. I contacted Blanco and after sending them pictures of the sink, I was told that they would check into things. Minutes later I received an email from Blanco stating that my warranty was being processed! Within about a week I had a new sink sitting at my front door......with no cost to me!!! Lionel was spot on with this program. I then placed a call back to Lionel and we arranged for an install. On the day of install, his crew - Chris and Sam - arrived EARLY and were able to remove and replace both sinks in ABOUT 1 HOUR!! Better yet, while I had warned by wife that this might be a messy process, the crew created very little mess and what they did create, they cleaned up completely. I will definitely recommend Granite Doctor AZ (and Stone City) to ANY of my friends that are looking for Granite installs and/or repairs. These guys are great and Lionel is fantastic to work with!! (please see the before and after pictures)

After (Left Side View)

We second the comments of Robert S. Our old sink (15 years old since new build) literally became detached from underneath the granite countertop (It had been held on only with epoxy that dried out) and as a stop-gap, we used a 2x4 to keep it in place until calling the Granite Doctor. We had decided against simply replacing the double sink, but the granite countertop had a bridge over the divide between the basins that would have to be removed to allow a single sink. We tried to work with the original granite countertop firm of the builder to see if they could do it, but they said that for liability reasons they wouldn't touch it. We thought about just replacing the entire countertop, but didn't want to spend $5-10K to do that (and we like our existing granite which is in great shape). We saw the advertisement for the Granite Doctor showing exactly what we were looking for. The Granite Doctor Team (Lionel, Chris and Sam) came to the rescue, and (in a little over a week later) in just a bit over two hours they finished cutting the granite in place... perfectly, and installed our new (larger overall) sink, which has really updated the whole kitchen. They also polished out an unfinished rough spot elsewhere on the countertop at no extra charge for us too. We were very pleased with their professionalism and cleanliness throughout the whole process. Yes, they do charge a $50 fee to come out to see the issue (whether you use their services or not), but that eliminates non-serious folks. The $50 is credited if you do use their services anyway, so it is not a big deal if you need the work done like we did. Maybe someone will promise to do it cheaper...I don't know, but I do know that the work done by the Granite Doctor was flawless and worth what I paid, particularly considering our alternatives that would have involved removal offsite (that might have damaged the countertop in the process) or full replacement of the countertop.

Working with Lionel was great. I had no trouble getting in touch with him for an appt and I had my granite cut and sink replaced within a week of when he came to give me my estimate. He did an amazing job at helping me assess my tiny kitchen situation and installing the new sink. I can highly recommend him if you're looking for a similar service. He does charge $50 to come see what he's working with and what needs to be done, but as a person in the service industry, this makes total sense to me. He drove all the way to my house, and has to make sure that his time and gas mileage isn't being wasted, plus it goes towards the cost of the service if you do choose to use his company. Definitely recommend

All elements of our experience (slab selection, scheduling, measuring, installation & followup) were accomplished in a timely manner and done to our satisfaction. This company came out to drill a hole in our granite for an RO system. The owner, Joshua, was able…read moreto get an installer out within minutes, which was amazing! Unfortunately, the gentleman Frank drilled the hole the wrong size--too big. Now, our RO faucet does not sit properly on the counter, and we will have to rig it up, ruining the aesthetics. We told him BEFORE he started drilling that the bit looked too big, but he insisted it was fine. He didn't measure the bit up to the sizing diagram we provided him. We contacted Joshua, who proceeded to curse and threaten us with lawyers if we didn't pay him. Joshua stated that the services were rendered and that if we didn't pay, he would put a lien on our home (over $250 ). Joshua was screaming that he would show up to our home with lawyers and his crew and that "they don't make 1 inch diamond drill bits for granite (lol)" I mean really, it's a hole. It's too big. The guy didn't measure twice cut once. Calm down Joshua, no need to scream at people. No wonder your employee told us to contact him directly if there were any issues. We are not going to be bullied into paying for services that we didn't request- which is a hole too big for our faucet that we now have to fix. Please look elsewhere unless you like dealing with hotheads. Edit: If the owner thinks this install is acceptable- a wobbly install, not seated on the counter, with a gap visible from across the room, then he really is as delusional as he sounded when he cursed out my husband and threatened to show up at my house with 'his lawyer' if we didn't pay him. If this is the type of work the public wants from a company, and an owner that resorts to immediately screaming and threatening the customer over his employees mistake, then please hire Surprise Granite and good luck with that.

Quality and thoroughness needs to be shown in a higher regard. There was the language barrier, but…read moreI feel like they didn't even ask me what kind of fabricating I needed. It was just the general, nonspecified, generic cuts at the length I had previously requested via text, but some things that they could've /should've asked me would've included finding out if the sink in the bathroom slab should be centered or remain where it was in the old slab. And if they would've had any trouble changing out sinks to have the new sink faucet working they should definitely inform the homeowner that there will be nothing hooked up underneath at all and that's how they left the kitchen and my bathroom! Worse off, in the guest bathroom, he even took it an extra step and noticed that there was a water leak, even though the water was shut off and instead of trying to get to the origin of the problem, he literally just didn't mention the leak until I NOTICED IT, after he was able to hightail it out of there and just left it all leaking underneath my sink and onto the floor. I didn't notice until there's a big puddle of water accumulating within 10 minutes. And now that I think about it, every time I walked past the guest bathroom he was using a towel to mop up the floor, but I didn't know why and now I know why! It was about 10 minutes after they left that was flooding out from underneath my sink, adding all sorts of water damage to my cabinets. So then I had to get someone in there to help me reconfigure underneath my kitchen sink that was a soft water system and make sure that was all correct and somebody else to help me out with the bathroom sinks and laying all new plumbing with new Ptraps and hoses for under each one of those with installation.... But wait, there's more..... My son had offered them his expensive tub and tile caulk if they wanted to use it and they said 'no no we we have a good good caulk' and so we kind of shrugged it off until after they left ... and they left their bucket here on accident filled with water with their caulk and caulking guns still tossed in the water. Every single one of the three caulks they had used for fitting in my 3 sinks was a cheap-o window and door trim caulk!!!!! And not only did they turn my son down to use his good supplies for free, but they in turn, went and used the diametrically wrong stuff for the wrong application!!! And I had to dig out all of the wrong caulk from each one of my three sinks, just to re-caulk each one of them MYSELF (with 100% waterproof bathroom-rated appropriate caulk). I have also enclosed pictures of what I had discovered when I was bending over and mopping up the flood that had become my guest bathroom after they left. I happened to gaze my head upwards while crouching down and noticed that I could see under an into my cabinets, even though the cabinet doors were closed. They just put giant slabs of porcelain that I had picked out on top of little witches that were about 2 inches wide that help the counter remain on top and float. But between these wedges, it's a space that I could quite easily slip my finger or even part of my hand through so I could essentially be outside of the cabinet get inside and under the cabinet at the same time without opening the cabinets. That seemed way off and ugly, so I'm gonna have to find little pieces of wood and wedge it out around so I can close that space out like if they had more of those wedges and put them closer together than they could literally just fill it full of caulk or mortar or something to create a seal. The craziest thing is that these people came highly rated by yelp and were even backed by yelps insurance program, which I am now get to rate and see if I will have to Yelp on Yelp. Because this was unacceptable! Plus, there's like 2 mini stains that there's no way I can get them out of my white, fabricated, quartz countertops! They look like cigarette burns on the side that I noticed when the guys left and I'm not sure what that's from. When they were all done and left, I noticed I now had huge amounts of whitish chalk dust all over my driveway and common sidewalk area. I know that cutting the slabs creates dust but I mean ask for a broom if you don't have one to sweep up the remainder before you leave maybe? Just the work that I had to have done after they left because of what they did or didn't do, and the re-caulking of the sinks after I had to literally dig out the other caulk was just horrible and time wasting and I wouldn't recommend them. They did have a good price and if they wouldn't have been yelp back, I wouldn't have picked them, but seeing as this has taken a long time to write up, I'm not sure if I will get reverse any money from Yelp for this.

I regret choosing this contractor for my kitchen countertop installation. While their prices were…read morevery affordable (a big factor in my decision), it turned out to be a costly mistake. Initially, they were efficient and communicative, and I was optimistic. However, the quartz they installed has been a nightmare. We selected a white quartz based on pictures they provided. Within weeks of installation, the so-called "quartz" started showing major quality issues. The main reasons we chose quartz--its supposed resistance to scratches, heat, and stains--were completely absent. Stains appeared almost immediately and won't come out, even with professional polishers and cleaning solutions. Scratches occurred from something as simple as a barstool rubbing against it. To make matters worse, there's a visible line in one section of the quartz where it looks like it could break. What makes this even more frustrating is that budget was never discussed as a limitation. I could understand if we'd told them we needed to stay within a certain price range, but that wasn't the case. They came, measured, gave us a price, and then simply asked what color granite we wanted and if we preferred veins. There was no disclosure about quality differences or the option to upgrade to a higher grade of quartz. I reached out to the contractor multiple times, after trying to find my own solution for working with and on the countertop, I reached by phone and text over a month in August, trying to address the issues. After no response, I finally sent a detailed email explaining the problems and requesting a copy of our contract. The contractor eventually replied, acknowledged the issues, and claimed quartz shouldn't wear like this. She said she'd contact the supplier--but I had to follow up several more times to get any updates. When she finally responded, she gave us our contract but stated her company wasn't liable for the poor-quality quartz. She directed us to the supplier, despite admitting she had already spoken to them and was told this was "general wear and tear." Frustrated, we hired a new contractor to evaluate the quartz. They confirmed it was quartz but stated it was a very low-quality grade. Replacing it would cost us $6,000-$10,000, or we'd have to live with the subpar countertops. At no point during the process were we given options for higher-quality granite or told that what was being installed was a budget-tier material. The contractor acted as though we had personally selected and purchased the granite ourselves, when in reality, we trusted her to provide a quality product. While the installation itself was passable (aside from a visible cut line), the overall experience was incredibly disappointing. The poor communication, lack of transparency, and unwillingness to stand by the product make this contractor one I cannot recommend. If I'd known we could hire them for just the installation and shop around for better quartz ourselves, I would have. This was an expensive lesson in why "affordable" isn't always worth it. Avoid this contractor if you want quality materials and honest communication.
