I was apprehensive when I saw the reviews, but am now convinced that people are just too entitled. This is a good budget restaurant. The food was better than expected. I got the southwest chicken with slaw and baked beans. The chicken and rice were very good, the beans excellent and the slaw was ok. My wife got turkey and dressing with fried okra and green beans. Only complaints were that she didn't get much dressing, and the gravy was a little salty. The dinner rolls and cinnamon roll we got were excellent. And the price was great. The service was friendly and fast. They brought our food out "cooked to order" in less than 5 minutes. The restaurant was clean, but pretty bland looking. But nothing bad. Went to grandy on 07_12_2026 around 5:00 pm. Order 2. Steak dinner when I got home it was a captain d's . Dinner up undergrads dinner. Someone had ate out of the capital d. Dinner the top of the store off 2 pieces of white bread was in it. In a pack of tarts sauce was in the food. The African American girl looked surprised when we pull up at the windows. They told us 3 come back they would refund our money back. So when we went back we was trying to explain to them what happen. They didn't give us no receipt. It was poor custom services I was their 4 day's ago buying food. The lady had to hold the baferican American girl back. Cause someone their keep our grandys dinner. My wife stopped at this one near Jim Miller Rd last night. The female staff, to include the manager (female), who the manager has been there for a long time (years) immediately had an attitude with my wife. They were rude to my wife when she used the restroom by saying, "Restroom is not for the public." My wife responded that she was going to buy something but had to use the restroom first. Then she was standing waiting for her food, and they said, "You can have a seat." She told them she had been traveling and needed to stretch. Staff and manager commented that standing around isn't going to make the food come out faster. One staff member commented that, "Standing around makes me nervous!" We tried to order 15 piece fried chicken. Response, "We don't have that and it will take 25 minutes to make." This was at 6pm. It was clear they just didn't want to do their job. Worst still, another customer came in, very happy and nice, and they started acting rude towards him. Eventually that customer got upset and said, "I REBUKE YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS!" The staff member replied back, "THAT'S WHY YOU FAT!" After all of this, we got chicken strips, got all the way home, and they forgot to put in our gravy for the mashed potatoes. If this location's staff would focus on customer service, doing their actual job, stop being lazy, and overall stop their crappiness, perhaps they could focus on getting the order right. I have loved Grandy's breakfast deluxe biscuit for as long as I can remember. It's delish, cost efficient & filing. I always order the breakfast steak w/ scrambled eggs and cheese. Depending on the location the price varies (which is ridiculous) if you ask me. Because it's the exact same menu item, but I've noticed it's more expensive in remote towns such as Greenvile & Hurst, Texas. Grandy's in the DFW Area charge the same price. Do not go to this Grandy's the coleslaw tasted horrible sour like been there for days. The mash potatoes were burned and brown tasted like burned potatoes . I wrote an email to Grandy's headquarters concerning a visit at this location: I wanted to email concerning something I witnessed this morning from the drive through window. I visited store #726 (8228 East RL Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75228) this morning (7/23/10) at 6:32am. The lady who helped me was very friendly, and that was enough to make up for the lack of speedy service, but her coworker was the real issue. As I was waiting for my food at the window, I watched as the coworker scraped out a large jar of a think white icing/mayo consistency "goo" with a spoon into a "mustard" type narrow tipped bottle. As she did so, she was running the bowl of the spoon over the mouth of the bottle and the used her FINGER to wipe off the thread of the bottle and scrape it into the mouth as well. I am 100% sure that is not allowed by any health standards oh Dallas, and it shouldn't be allowed by yours either. I got this reply from Grandy's witnin about an hour: Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear about this experience. The Franchise Business Consultant spent the afternoon at this restaurant today and he is going to address this issue and we will rectify it. You have provided very specific information to help us to correct this poor behavior. You are absolutely correct this is not acceptable. This unit is under new ownership as you probably noticed the new paint and lighting. We will not take this lightly and we will get it corrected. Thank you for taking time to let us know. I do not want to insult you asking by asking you to accept 2 VIP Cards to use at this or another Grandys but I would really would appreciate it if you would accept them as our way of saying Thank you for letting us know about this important issue. I had a dream that told to eat at grandy's, so i decided to eat there for breakfast. My real life fairytale quickly took a sharp turn into a disatrous nightmare. Greeted by the stench of body odor and fryer grease, i relectuctantly ordered myself a sausage bacon and egg breakfast after deciding to pass on the abysmal excuse for a buffet abrubptly after glancing at its miserable existence in a poorly lit dusty corner in the entryway of the antiquated and rundown building. Although i wanted to sprint for the door, my card had already been swiped. As i wiped the foul smelling finger grease of the cashier off my credit card, i looked for a place to sit in wait for my food, finally settling on the least dirty table i could find. Because the food took 40 minutes to come to the table, i decided to use to the bathroom only to be greeted by a homeless couple showering in the sink, needles present. When my food arrived, the plate came half empty, and the waitress sneered at my request for gravy to go alongside my biscuits, (even though i side ordered biscuits and gravy). Nonetheless, every inch of my food was covered in the sludge which rests at the bottom of an unclean fryer, rendering my entire meal inedible. I decided to cut my losses and leave this miserable establishment, but not before being heckled by the homeless couple before i could get out of the front door. Was skeptical after reading the other reviews but came here to see for myself. My family and I dined in and enjoyed. The food was hot and fresh. My picky toddler enjoyed the food as well. We ordered the chicken fried steak dinner and chicken dinners. Definitely would recommend this location , as it was clean inside the dinning area and friendly staff. read more

Stopped here for breakfast and it was awful. All of the food was cold, they didn't include syrup with my daughters french toast sticks and the biscuits and cinnamon rolls were at least a few days old as they were dry and hard. I'm shocked that this place is still in business. read more

I went here yesterday I have been here a few times before the food has always been marginal. The person at the window was nice. I ordered nuggets but got tenders okra and mac & cheese with extra rolls, the best part of the meal was the rolls. The tenders look like someone ran down to Walmart & purchased a $2.99 bag of frozen breaded 10% chicken and fried it, tenders were also way over cooked and the bottom of this container had holes all in it from throwing these tenders straight out the grease to a styrofoam container. Okra was burnt I ate 2 & threw the rest away. The mac & cheese even looked overdone if that is possible and just sloppily threw in the container with cheese hanging of the side of the container. I have arthritis and just didn't feel like driving all the way back to return it so I ate it and tossed & turned all night. I will not ever return to this location, it just doesn't make sense to pay nearly $8 for some $2 frozen tenders, $1 bag of equate okra and .50 box of mac & cheese. The owners should be ashamed to even claim this place. Came in for lunch on Sunday, place was pretty much empty. Staff was friendly, cashier gave me a cup for water and she stated "you can put water or whatever you want". I ordered the single country fried steak meal and it was decent. The fried okra was a little on the burnt side but was actually good. Then we come to the cleanliness, its 12 PM and I find it hard to beleive that no one cleaned up the dirty tables and floors that were seen scattered throughout. This restaurant has been reopened under new management. Really enjoy the home style cooking! BET (Bacon, Egg & Tomato) Sandwich is one of my favorites. Breakfast bar looked great too. The employees were all friendly and the food was fresh and hot. read more

I don't like the food here. I've had way, way better even at the same price. I only come here for Dinner Rolls. Thanksgiving or special Dinner plans. However, the employees have always been super sweet to me. The lobby is kept up pretty good. read more

This employees here REALLY don't care about customer service. I ordered chicken nuggets in the drive thru. Easy order. 12 minutes after I had ordered them, I was still waiting at the window. After I asked how long they take to make, they replied "6 minutes." They did not seem bothered that I had been waiting so long. I asked for a refund, and the girl at the window rolled her eyes. She got someone to refund my money. I asked how long it takes to make nuggets again, and the second lady insisted that I had only been waiting a couple of minutes. This is the worst Grandy's location I have ever visited. The atmosphere is not inviting at all- it needs to be updated with some paint, new furniture, etc. Also, some of the employees at the front end are also loud and boisterous. somehow i landed at grandy's on saturday morning for breakfast. i had never been to a grandy's before so i didn't know what to expect. i'll just start this review off by saying that looks can be deceiving. whenever i ride by a grandy's location, i immediately categorize them with perkins, ihop and places like that. basic menus, catering to all appetite types..cheap but probably some homecooking on the menu....yada yada. i am NOT a fast food person. never have been. when i walked into grandy's on saturday, i felt a strong sense of disappointment. the little buffet, oh bless it's heart. it's loaded with sausage patties, bacon, old biscuits, grits, and chopped up hashbrowns that looked 3 days old the fruit looked like it had been sitting so long it could have been wine-forming at this point. disgusting. that's what i get for assuming. grandy's is fast food, made fast and sitting for days. the flies ate more of my food than i did. read more

Love the convince and the quality of the food one question I have is what happens to the awesome baked beans. Loved those beans. All else is excellent. I live closer to Houston and when I travel to the coast to Corpus Christi I always make a spot on Navarro street and enjoy Grandys.
