A friend picked this place for a lunch meeting. She suggested sharing some stuff so I just let her make the call and went to order. We ended up with the bibimbob and some sort of potato pancakes. Personally I was eyeballing the seafood soup, but when invited to lunch you go with the host wants to do. The food was tasty enough but I felt like there wasn't that much meat in the dish, and a lot of the flavors were kind of muted. We relied heavily on the spicy paste and the sauce that came with the pancakes to give the food flavor. The menu also seemed to be missing some pages as compared to what I saw on their website after the fact.

Great service and fun music, plenty of seating. However, my seafood kalguksu wasn't to my preference. Used frozen seafood such as calamari and fish balls as opposed to what I expected with clams and mussels - there was 1 mussel. interesting side dishes. Seafood pancake was a little thick too but portion was generous. Fair price. Sorry grandma!

Looooved my experience at Grandma noodle. Everything was so good and the lovely woman who served us was so hospitable and funny!!! We got Vietnamese iced coffees (to die for so good), and a big kimchi pancake (also incredible one of the best I've had) to start. My friend got bibimbap which she loved. I got jajangmyeon which was super good and warm. Our server brought us samples of their taro coconut sticky rice. !!! They only make it on weekdays when they're less busy!!!! It was seriously so yummy and warm. Please try it when you visit!! I can't wait to come back and try way more things!!

Grandma's Noodle is a hole in wall restaurant; while driving at night, I nearly missed it because of how unassuming the sign outside the restaurant was. Additionally, I was a confused, because I assumed Grandma's Noodle would be a strictly Korean restaurant, yet, I saw photos of Banh Mi and "Vietnamese" which made me wonder if I was at the wrong spot. Upon entering with my friend, I hear Vietnamese karaoke playing in the background and our waitress greeted us in Vietnamese, which was a shocker to say these least! Needless to say, our waitress was incredibly sweet and made sure to check on us often. :-) My friend and I figured that the place was managed by Vietnamese workers now, since our menu had both Korean and Vietnamese dishes. We ordered the black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodle soup which came out quickly! They even provided my friend and I small bowls to share our meals which I thought was convenient. However, I was a bit underwhelmed by our side dishes since neither of us really touched it aside from one or 2 of them. While our meal was cheap, the portions were HUGE which made me feel like the food was worth it! I will give our meal a 4/5 since it was tasty, but nothing different from what I've tried at other Korean spots; nonetheless, the food was very hearty and satisfying.

Grandma noodle is a cute hole in the wall mom and pop restaurant that's such a hidden gem in Houston. It's run by Vietnamese owners, which was a pleasant surprise, but I was still under the impression that this was an authentically Korean place. They serve both Vietnamese and Korean cuisine, and the Korean food did not disappoint and tasted authentic and delicious. We ordered black bean noodles and spicy seafood noodle soup, and they were the perfect pairing. The black bean noodles had a nice smoky, rich bean flavor and the seafood soup was fresh, spicy, and flavorful. It perfectly cut through the grease of the black bean noodles, and it felt like I could've kept eating both dishes forever. And the food came out so quick too! The lady who helped us was so sweet and helpful. We were able to converse comfortably in Vietnamese and she was giving us recommendations on what to eat and what was delicious. She also checked on us frequently to make sure we were enjoying the food! I will say it's a little hard to find if you're not looking closely, so definitely be on the lookout! And I believe they changed their menu as it was different and smaller than pictures online. However, I will for sure be back here! This was such a pleasant surprise and the owners made it more than a warm and welcoming experience.

Grandma Noodle rocks. Good ambiance, feels homey. I got some noodles that were awesome and this felt so authentic, with all the sides and pickles. Convenient location, FRIENDLY service. I was given a free dessert of taro sticky rice, which was extremely memorable, and I would pay money for now. It was delectable. I didn't have a palate for it before but do now. Thanks, Grandma Noodle!

Definitely Grandma's cooking! We were greeted by a young man who is the owner's grandson. He set up our table with a paper placemat and eating utensils. After customers leave, he would help clean the tables. (He didn't serve any food or alcohol for the Yelp Karens out there, lol.) Lunch: Hot Chicken w/ Cheese- Tastes like chicken topped with cheese. Definitely not spicy, and I'm not mad at it because I can't eat super spicy foods. Grilled Mackerel- For the price and portion, worth it. Mackerel is naturally salty and it needed some sort of sauce to help curb the saltiness. I enjoyed the balance of the banchan dishes. There was spinach, sprouts, radishes and kimchi. To end the meal, they gave complimentary Yakult drinks. This is a no frills type of place. The interior is kept clean and simply adorned with vibrant green plants. I can't wait to return and try other dishes!

This place is hard to find. The sign on the building wasn't in English and navigation wasn't good enough to give me good directions until after I passed it and had to turn into another parking lot to turn around. The service was good . The tables were sticky. It's one server but she was good. The food came out and I really didn't want to be mean to grandma but everything was flavorless. The tofu soup was the only thing that tasted goods. I liked the skin of the dumplings was great texture. It was the only disappointing meal of my birthday weekend. Maybe I ordered the wrong items, tell me what I should order for next time.

We loved eating here and can't wait to come back! This was our first visit to Grandma Noodle, but it will definitely be a mandatory stop next time we're in Houston. Overall, it's a cozy mom-and-pop place with a very unique blend of Korean and Vietnamese cuisine that I haven't seen anywhere else (I'm Viet and from New Orleans). Seems like the kind of place you can only find in the melting pot of Houston. FOOD: 17. Jjampong (noodle with seafood in hot spicy sauce) - This noodle soup was amazing!!! Perfect level of spice and seasoning. Tons of seafood in a hearty, umami-packed broth. This was my first time having jjampong and it blew my mind. Perfect comfort food for a rainy day. Huge portion that would be easily shareable for 2 people. 14. Bibim gooksoo (noodle with vegetable with spice paste) - This cold noodle dish was really good too! The flavor is a bit milder than some other cold noodles I've had, but very refreshing. * Banchan - Yummy! I liked that they have the classics but also incorporated some Viet components, like the sweet pickled cabbage/carrots. * Nước mát (house special drink) - This is a classic Viet drink that's really good for a hot day. The name translates to "cool/refreshing drink" and it lives up to its name! It's not too sweet, which is what I like. * Cà phê sữa đá (viet iced coffee with condensed milk) - Nice strong coffee that packs a punch, good level of sweetness to balance it out. The owners of this restaurant are so sweet and friendly!! They are a Viet couple who took it over after the previous owner retired. She taught them how to cook traditional Korean food, and they are keeping her recipes alive while also adding in some Viet dishes of their own. Ms. Loan does the table service and her husband does the cooking. At the end of our meal, she brought us a sample of Bánh khoai mì (viet coconut cassava cake) that she had made and it was delicious. Her husband also came out from the kitchen to ask how the food was and see if the spice levels were to our liking. My husband and I had a wonderful time chatting with them and learning about how they went from living in Vietnam to running a Korean restaurant in Houston. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

One of the best hole in the wall (literally) places I've tried in Houston's "Koreatown". Grandma Noodle is quite hard to spot and it sits inside a somewhat run down building next to a gas station. The open light sign in the window will guide you to the right door. Once inside, prepare to experience some wonderful home cooked authentic Korean food that will leave your hearts and bellies full! On a Monday night, the place was pretty empty with only one other elderly couple dining in. We ordered spicy rice cakes, hand cut noodles with seafood, and dough flake soup with potato, which was recommended over the one with kimchi. Whatever season it may be, despite Houston's hot a muggy weather at this time of year, this is the ultimate comfort food. The seafood noodle soup was delicious and there was a generous assortment of seafood inside including shrimp, mussels, imitation crab, and mini octopus. The potato dough flake soup was amazing as well. As for the spicy rice cakes, we requested for less spicy to be kinder to our aging stomachs, which they accommodated well. The side dishes were excellent and they were very generous with them. Finally, they gave us each a complementary yakult yogurt drink to conclude a truly wonderful dining experience! Tldr; don't sleep on Grandma Noodle - it's spectacular!

This restaurant is literally run by Korean grandma's and it was honestly such an adorable experience. My partner and I came in on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but thankfully, they cleaned a table right as we walked in and we were seated pretty quickly. The Banchan (vegetable side dishes) has pickled radish, cucumbers, fishcakes, and kimchi. Out of all the side dishes, we enjoyed the kimchi the most! As for the order, we got the Haemul Sundubu Jigae (Seafood Kimchi Stew), JiaJang Myun (Noodle with Bean Sauce), Osam BulGoGi (Spicy Pork and Squid). - The Haemul Sundubu Jigae was okay. The tofu was good and there were plenty of veggies and generic seafood mixes but the soup itself was a little bland compared to what I usually get from other Korean restaurants. I personally wouldn't order this again if I were to visit - The JiaJang Myun was also just okay. This dish typically has bits and pieces of pork but this one only had mushrooms, zucchini, and onions. I personally would also skip this one too. - The Osam BulGoGi was our favorite. The flavor was great, the dish had lots of squid, pork, celery, cabbage, and other veggies. The seasoning was great and made the dish savory and delicious. It is more on the expensive side (25.99) but the portion is big and sharable. - At the end of every meal (when they give us the check), it comes with a Yakult (a classic probiotic drink) which I absolutely loved Warning: it does take a while when it gets busy so if you're in a hurry, this might not be the spot for you (our dining experience was ~1.5 hours). Overall, the dishes were okay but I appreciate the staff members for working so hard on a busy night and providing the best service they possibly can.

Beef Bulgogi and Shrimp Fried Rice

Amazing experience! This was my second time eating here and it was just as good as I remembered. The food was delicious, and the service was extremely friendly and welcoming. Will certainly be coming back here again and would recommend it in a heartbeat.

    Yukgaejang and grilled mackerel
    Chef T.

Grandma Noodle was always on my list to try for years and we managed to try it. Had the grilled mackerel which was fantastic. The kimchi was really good and the rest of the banchan tasted fine. The yukgaejang was really good, but not as spicy as I've had in the past at other locations. It's apparently under a new management, the owner is Viet and very pleasant to talk to. Definitely would return to try more dishes as they mentioned that they may be adding additional Korean menu items.

The flavors are great. 2) Jaengbanjjajang: This is my go-to and personal favorite noodle dish to get here. It is similar to their original jjangmyeon except that it is less soupy and has a bit of spice. The spiciness adds a nice kick balancing the sweet and savory flavors. There are also lots of different mix ins like squid, shrimp, beef, and vegetables! Juicy big wings with a slight crisp on the outside. The sauce is amazing. It is that sweet and spicy yangnyeom korean fried chicken sauce. 4) Tangsuyuk: I never visit Paisk without ordering their tangsuyuk. Perfectly fried with a great chew. The pork is not too porky or gamey which is nice, and the sauce is a sticky sweet and sour sauce. 4) Gunmandoo: Their panfried dumplings are quite nice too! I haven't gotten them in a while, but they were solid Overall, I don't think there was a single dish I disliked here at Paiks. Service is standard, not too fast not too slow. The ambiance is not really one for dates or anything. It's super casual with metal chairs. It can get a bit cold. There are restrooms and water dispensers.
