    Cake Donuts

As an update to my last review, I came back to this location today to try another mix of donuts. I saw the fruity peebles donuts on my last visit, but didn't purchase any. This time, I took the plunge and decided to purchase these cereal adorned donuts. These donuts are made using a classic, basic fried yeasted donut recipe with a fruity pebble milk glaze. The glaze is made by soaking fruity pebbles in milk overnight to really capture the flavor, before topping off the donuts with fruity pebbles! The crunch from the pebbles provide a nice disposition to the donut for those of us who like foods with a little something extra. In addition, the pebbles evaluate the sweetness of the glaze without being overly sweet.

One of a few donut places we go to. Friendly staff and prices comparable to competitors. Today we scored some baked cinnamon rolls (vs fried). They are huge and not drowning in icing. Plain cake are one of the basics and those are good - not greasy. Yeast stand up to the toppings and have consistency.

This neighborhood breakfast spot has been a consistent weekend treat. Breakfast tacos, kolaches, donuts, iced coffee all delicious here. Staff always friendly and make a point to make you feel welcome. Highly recommend!

My husband, who is also the donut connoisseur of our castle has chosen Grand Donuts in Leander (the Ronald Reagan location) as our doughnut of choice!!! His dad used to always go out and get his mom donuts every Sunday so my hubby took up that tradition. Yes- donuts are his breakfast of choice.....and yes, it's been going on for years ....literally through thick and thin!! We've been patrons of this location ever since it opened. It's got great team members, excellent customer service and delicious products... Donuts and otherwise! !We've tried many many of their delicious offerings! The fritters are great, the cake donuts are superb and come in multiple flavors with multiple toppings. Of course there's the usual suspects breakfast tacos and kolache's (regular & jumbo size) they are made in all manners of breakfast food combinations. Then there's the fritters, eclairs, cinnamon twists, cinnamon rolls, and on and on and on. Check it out and I'm sure you'll see why it's our go to!

Love their donuts and their drive-thru makes getting donuts such a breeze. Friendly customer service too!

They started out as Super Donuts, but then changed the name to Grand Donuts, which both names certainly are applicable. This is a great place for donuts and kolaches. They offer a good variety of each along with other pastries, and beverages. The place is always clean, and the staff is always nice. My favorite is the spicy boudin kolache. It's a must try, and yes, it is Slap Yo Momma Good !!!

A little bit of everything. We might have gotten too much

Only been here a couple of times and only on the weekend for breakfast. Both the doughnuts and the kolaches have always been good and fresh. I do agree with fellow reviewers that the kolaches bag does seem butter soaked by the time we get home. They are close and convenient and hence our go to place for a doughnut fix.

I never knew you could eat a glazed fluffy cloud, but I just did! Seriously, I think I just ate the best glazed donut EVER. The donut was warm, soft, and glazed with a delightfully sweet glaze that made it the perfect donut. While there on this visit, my daughter had the pink donut with shaved coconut which she loved it. The hubs went with a maple glazed donut and was also impressed. This is a brand new donut shop in the new Cold Springs shopping center. The strip mall is only partially open at the moment, but it really is open! It's worth a drive out to grab some donuts if you are in the area! The shop also has a drive through window so you don't even have to get out of your car for your sugar fix. The menu is pretty big for a donut shop. I've only tried the donuts so far, but they also have breakfast tacos, kolaches, croissants, muffins, and cinnamon rolls. I can't wait to try the other stuff because they were all beautiful. I will probably quickly become the Duchess here because I'm already addicted. I better start putting more time in on the treadmill. :)

We love Grand Donuts, this location specifically. Best apple fitters, warm and crispy. We also really like their glazed old fashioned and any of their cake donuts. Breakfast sandwiches and breakfast tacos really good too; nicely filled with a good quantity of eggs. We have lived in this part of town for 4 years and this IS the donut shop to go to when you want good morning yums!

Too much butter on the Kolache.

He felt his plate leaned a bit on the greasy side, and after trying his bacon, I'd agree it was slightly undercooked for my taste. That said, the biscuits and gravy were the star of the table. Absolutely delicious and something I'd come back for. The only small downside was that it felt a little chilly inside. Back then, my husband was not happy, you could not order coffee at the table, you had to go to the other side and get coffee and then bring to to the table if you wanted breakfast. Well, a LOT has changed with this place since then. #1...they will bring you what ever coffee you want to order, and they will pick up from next door and bring it to you (husband was happy about that). #2, they now serve lunch and dinner (*we didn't try that yet, but will be back to try that later). Now, Rebecca our server was so nice! She put up with my husband's "shanigans", as he always tries to joke about with everyone! He was hungry, so got the "Big Ol' Breakfast", which had your eggs, half a ham steak, sausage, bacon (Oh, sooo good) breakfast potatoes (could have been just a little more "crisped up), and pancakes!! He cleaned his plate!! LOL! I had (and did not realize until I read my last review, I had "half" of same I ordered before), the Benedict Sampler (where you can choose TWO of benedicts). I got the "Southwest Steak" (*which is what I had last time..LOL), ohhh soo good! If you like "Spicy"...get this...the green chiles and cilantro-lime sauce make this dish! Then, the other one was the "Golden State" with tomato, bacon and avocado (*and little spice too with Siracha sauce on top), and also had the very good breakfast potatoes! Rebecca checked on us often, and we were both glad we came back to this place! We will be back again!

Unfortunately, I left feeling a little underwhelmed. I ordered the cinnamon French toast, chicken fried steak, biscuits, and a side of gravy. Overall, I thought everything was a bit underseasoned and just didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for. I was especially disappointed by the French toast because the name was a little misleading. I was expecting a classic, soft brioche-style French toast, but it was actually made with what tasted more like cinnamon rolls. It ended up being much denser and firmer than I expected, and it just wasn't the texture I look for when I order French toast. I also thought it was a little strange that they didn't include ketchup with the order since that's something I feel like most breakfast places automatically throw in, especially with a delivery order. I know Uber Eats can sometimes affect the overall experience, but I also wasn't impressed with how everything was packaged. Some of the food had spilled out by the time it arrived, which made the meal feel a little sloppy before I even started eating.

I think the reason The Toasted Yolk is so popular is because it is one of the only sit-down breakfast places in the area. In the times I've gone, I've found: 1. Service is 100% dependent on your waiter. Not a lot of consistency here. I've had excellent service and also terrible service. This can make or break the overall dining experience. 2. Expensive. This place is not cheap - the average cost of a breakfast entree (think omelette, scramble, etc.) is roughly $16 before tax and tip. For the price, they only include a side choice of english muffin or biscuit - toast is an upcharge (I've never experienced this in any breakfast restaurant before, and found it cheap of them + bizarre). 3. The food is good if you know what to order. I've made the mistake of ordering "The Toasted Yolk" signature meal, which was awful. The hashbrown casserole is also very bad and was served to me cold. However, I've also ordered the vegetarian scramble which is delicious. My husband always goes for the Brisket Tacos, which he says are consistently good. The churro donuts are fantastic as well. I don't think I'd go here nearly as much if I had more options in the area, but it is an overall decent place to grab a sit-down breakfast.

The restaurant had a small town, country, and laid-back vibe...no pretense, just warm and welcoming. As I got out of my car, I could smell the wafts of something good happening in the kitchen. Our server was friendly and immediately offered us water. She gave us adequate time to place our orders and checked on us pretty frequently. She was attentive while also giving us the right amount of space. Why do this neighborhood café have a 4.8 rating? Hands the food! My friends ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Plate (including three over easy eggs, hash browns, and of course, Texas toast) and two breakfast tacos. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Did I die and go to food heaven? The waffles were firm on the exterior and soft and flavorful inside. So, so good! My friends were pleased their meals also.
