For context, I often find myself driving between San Francisco and Fresno. On one articular trip,…read moreI was craving prime rib (which happens every two weeks or so). I asked my favorite llm where I should stop by for prime rib going from Fresno to SF. It at first suggested I make a bee like for house of prime rib in sf, which I like but have been to many times. It then suggested house of beef and I'm so glad it did (cattleman's in Livermore was also a 3rd choice but I've been there several times too). Thankfully it was Fri eve and they had prime rib. I like mine rare and it was perfectly cooked, very marbled, huge, well seasoned and delicious. I pared it wth au jus and mashed with gravy. Then, what reminded me to write this review, was the tri tip from the meat counter and took to go. They were nice enough to pack it in ice for my 2 hour drive. I just cooked it on my grill in the rain and this is seriously one of the best tri tips I've ever grilled up. The meat tenderness/marbling/quality is on par with any prime grade/American wagyu I've bought and the seasoning is just super on point. Looking forward to smoking the baby back ribs I picked up as well in the next couple of days but I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. Seems like other reviews had issue with service but the staff were exceptionally attentive when I was there. Seriously the only thing that wasn't top notch about my experience was the cocktails(mine was totally fine but I'm a bit spoiled when I'm in SF) but for my purposes passing through I just wanted the prime rib and meats to go to be delicious and house of beef certainly lived up to its name!

Service is fast and attentive, staff is apologetic about the wait, but the waiting time was not too late or rushed. Our server 10/10 service, even gave us extra bread to take home. Salad and soup bar were excellent and everything tasted fresh. We loved the tomato soup, but didn't like the french onion dip soup. The bread was amazing, and even tasted great as reheated leftovers. The prime rib and ribeye steak were cooked perfectly to our order, but couldnt finish eating dud to being full from the unlimited bread, salad and soup bar. Garlic fries were amazing and crispy, even after reheated for leftovers. Only a few things I didn't like was when we went to get our soup and salad, they cleared the whole table. I was warming up the butter in my hands for the bread to spread on faster, but they took it away like trash when we went to grab our salad and soups. They resetted the paper towel rolls to the side of the table when we moved it to the center, and they almost took away my husband's alcoholic drink, and then realized we were still dining. The lighting was definitely way too dark. I could see elderly people slipping if there was were liquids or food filled on the floor. The space is interestingly very small for a steak restaurant, but they seem to make everything flow well. Definitely would come again, enjoy the soup and salad bar, and then maybe share a steak instead of ordering two.

There's a café and a good sit-down restaurant on site, plus an arcade and bowling alley on the lower level, which is a fun bonus. If you enjoy gambling, definitely sign up for a players card. They're pretty generous with coupons and free night offers. For those traveling with a camping trailer, the RV park is very nice and conveniently located within walking distance of the casino. There's also a shuttle that runs regularly to and from the casino. Overall, it's a solid destination and an easy getaway, especially if you're in the Central Valley. I was expecting music performances and other acts, coupons, all sorts of gaming, and many places to eat (and drink). I saw a parking garage with all of the handicap spots filled. If they had them on other levels, I didn't see those. I saw many, many slot machines, poker, and blackjack. I saw a drink fountain with around 6 brands of soda, one of which wasn't working. The coffee had one not working. No one seemed to be carrying drinks around the floor. There were no musical performances. The cafe was re-worked, according to the person with me, and not for the better. Apparently, there was a buffet. The choices for food were good and the portion was very good for the price. The workers seemed friendly. The gift shop was a bit over-priced but otherwise as reasonable as a hospital gift shop. I sat beside the person I drove to the casino and my machine seemed more favorable, but, it was hungry in the end. I even got ahead for a while. It was most definitely smoky but once we sat at the slot machines, it wasn't bad. Who knows if I'll return, unless someone needs me to drive them there. I usually only gamble when I go out to eat.

While we had driven past the resort a few times previously, we did not realize how large it was until we approached the building. Even though it was a Saturday, we didn't have difficulty finding a parking spot since it was early in the day. We entered the building and were surprised by how clean everything appeared. We were also so pleased that there is no smoking allowed inside the casino or restaurants. As someone who is super sensitive to smoke, this was a welcome surprise. We had lunch at the 209 sports grill and enjoyed our meals. Most of our party were in the mood to try their hands at the slot machines. My husband and I decided to explore the casino instead and ventured up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. At the Perch restaurant on the3rd floor we were astonished at the amazing panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Breathtaking! We made our way back to our friends and decided to check out the speakeasy. It was pretty small and we felt that the space could have been utilized more efficiently. There were very few seats. Despite the limited seating, we enjoyed the atmosphere and the fun libations. After dinner at the same sports bar we headed home. It was a fun-filled day and we will be back!

Everyone is seated with their own individual hot pot plate to build their own individual hot pot. (Don't worry it does not burn). You choose your basic soup broth, choose the meat you would like, and then start grabbing things off the conveyor belts! It not only is a fun concept, you can get quite creative with how you build your hot pot and choose just the things to your liking. I was amazed that they had very authentic Chinese ingredients to choose from - wood ear, enoki mushrooms, bok choy, different kinds of noodles, fish balls, Napa cabbage, octopus, and lots of different varieties of selfish, plus much much more! I chose the traditional broth and they even had Chinese red dates in it plus wolfberries (sometimes known as Goji berries) in the broth just like what I grew up with The service was just ok, since it was our first time there we had to ask a lady to show us what we were supposed to do. She was helpful, but the servers don't come around very often. That said, the plates and dishes clutter up really fast and they don't come around very often to clear the dishes, for which I would have taken a star off. But my experience there with conveyor belt hot pot was so nice that I'm leaving it at five stars. What I liked best besides the authentic ingredients, is that you can become quite creative to build your own hot pot to your own liking.

The sushi was delicious, with favorites like dragon rolls and plenty of sashimi options. The spice levels were good, and the unagi sauce was not overly sweet. I feel like I've upgraded from typical Chinese buffets with the weird gelatin cakes from that one specific bakery that distributes said cakes to all these low-level Chinese buffets. But sometimes I gotta return to the trenches! The inside is cute with a lot of booths and Japanese decorations. The center consists of a sushi bar with a functioning boat, chefs making rolls and putting jello onto the little floaties. The back has the standard Americanized Chinese fare. Bonus: there is a "Mongolian BBQ" station where a cook will stir fry your creation. Pricing is pretty decent considering there is more than just the hot trays of Chinese. The food itself was pretty OK. Sushi is basic to below average with huge 65-35 rice proportions, so get ready to be full fast. The sushi chefs also focused on saucy rolls vs nigiri. Because there is seating around the sushi boat, it was funny witnessing socially-unaware people go up behind people sitting there to grab a plate even though there was a huge space at the end of the island without seating to avoid this. Anyways, we ate a bunch to get our money's worth and could cross this off the list to never have to go again.
