    Empanadas

This was a lovely dinner experience in Prague. It's a nice Argentinean Steakhouse. We started off with ordering 4 different empanadas for appetizers, and they all tasted good. For the entree, I got the ravioli because I wasn't hungry enough for a big steak, and it was so amazing and delicious. We had a great time here.

Perhaps the best food in Prague. Great interior, atmosphere and friendly staff. Absolutely loved tartar and grilled octopus. Wine selection is excellent.

Inside. Good for small and large groups

This place is spacious! I stopped by here during lunch and nothing stood out to me. Food took about 30 minutes to be served and service was just okay. Perhaps I should have visited during dinner to make the most out of it. I think the price is reasonable when it comes to steakhouse. However, I am not sure if I would return here given I'd probably want to try something more "local." Very clean bathroom in the back.

Delicious empanadas and starters. Great steaks. Interesting gif ravioli. Attentive service for a group of 10.

I don't know what took me so long to leave a review. I was here in Prague about the same time last year and we ate here at least 3 times during our short stay. So that should tell you how good the food is. I'm here for 10 days this trip around and I'm once again back at Gran Fierro for their awesome steaks. I always get the Ribeye since that's my favorite cut and I get it rare. Steak always come out juicy and tasty. Grilled vegetables and fries that come with the dish are tasty also. A unique characteristic of this restaurant is that they serve your steak on this food chopping block made out of wood. I think it's not only cool but makes cutting the steak so much easier. The restaurant itself is very clean and modern and the bathroom is no different. So clean you could eat off of the floor although I wouldn't try it lol Oh another thing it usually takes about 10 minutes to get my food which is awesome as I am typically famished by the time I arrive to eat. Price is very reasonable @ less than $23 USD for Ribeye steak entree unlike some places in Prague like Beef House (formerly Butcher's Grill) where everything is a la carte and the food cost more and it isn't nearly as good and neither is the atmosphere or customer service. I will always return to Gran Fierro for my steak cravings in Prague. Updated review 2/11/20: So this is my 5th or 6th dining experience here and every time I've had nothing but stellar quality tasting ribeye. However, my most recent trip here on 2/10/20 was the opposite. I don't know if they changed chef or what but the Ribeye I had was lacking in taste. The steak itself appeared to be good quality upon arrival but when I took the first bite it tasted less like ribeye which is juicy and tasty and more like a piece of card board. It was cooked properly but taste was simply lackluster. And they also got rid of the vegetables that came with the dish so now they only give you 4 little peppers which tasted fine. The fries tasted different also. I don't know what it is but the quality of the food here has declined substantially to the point where I will no longer be patronizing this place. It's quite sad because this was one of my favorite places to eat in Prague.

Ossobuca with an amazing malbec wine sauce that has nice raspberry overtones but not as sweet!

I had gone total carnivore, in the same way the guys in American Werewolf in London accept no humans were harmed in the process. Dropped off my laundry at 1500 to be picked up at 1800...so walked in, sat down, navigated the menu which reads more like a corporate organizational chart, and with the help of my lovely server Silvia ordered the Ossobuca with malbec wine sauce and mash potatoes, and a pork tapas dish and was in love by the time she said "BLUE", when I said rare for my RibEye steak! Ya gotta love her for knowing that! But then again, I am in an "Authentic" Argentinean Steak House. The Ossobuca wasn't as good as grandma's, but then to be fair, I would get it literally seconds from her oven. However, Gran Fierro did not disappoint! The meat, as with all Ossobuca should fall off the bone, as it did...and even passed the Chef Dom fork test. I ate the whole thing without a knife. Impressive! The malbec wine sauce had raspberry overtones but not as sweet, making the sauce near epic! That said, I have not had mashed potatoes as perfectly made with just the right amount of small lumps of potato making the undeniable fact of their freshness along with their creamy colleagues surrounding them just that much more enjoyable. But the pièce de résistance of this place was the bone marrow with a little salt. My doctor should not read this! The entrée of my RARE RibEye steak accompanied by a couple of green bean wrapped in bacon amuse bouche and French fried potatoes fit nicely. The beef was perfectly blue either, as I was informed by Silvia, pure Hereford Argentinean beef which has a darker red/purple color more like Certified Angus Beef than USDA Choice beef in the USA (see attached photo of Silvia with Gran Fierro's beef chart) Finished off with a Lime Cheesecake and a cool glass of cold hard cider made me roll out....no literally rolled out of Gran Fierro a happier man than I entered. So when in Prague and crave something besides Trdelník, Schnitzel or any number of wonderfully Czech cuisine, try Gran Fierro's 'Authentic' Argentinean Steak House. And do as they do... Ok if you are coming across this review... STOP IMMEDIATELY AND SECURE YOUR RESERVATIONS!! Traveling in Europe the past few weeks we were in search of a good steak dinner and came across this Argentinian steakhouse. It was within walking distance for us and was worth the trek. The decorum was original and modern making you feel comfortable from the time you walked in the door. Every person who attended and waited on us were amazingly outgoing and appropriately welcoming. Started with vino and manhattans!! Three drinks later because they were absolutely delicious and a bottle of rose vino, it was time to order! Empanadas to try Tucamana (my favorite) and Jamon with Queso were mouthwatering. BUT the show stopper was the PROVOLENTA!! An absolute got to add to your dining repertoire!!! Steaks for dinner from our group was the Ribeye and the fillet were spot on with what we wanted for steak night!! You would think this was plenty but we had to have dessert and oh yeah one more Manhattan drink ( can not tell you how smooth that was)! We had crepes, mouse and lemon pie!! An absolute wonderful ending to our excellent meal. I'm just wondering how I can get back there tomorrow for our last dinner in Prague!!! All I can say is GO you will be pleasingly satisfied!!

Modern interior, nice people, great steaks! Happened to sneak in quite early when the restaurant was not yet busy and had a great time! Meat was delicious, chimicurry absolutely great! Try the napkins that need to be soaked in water to come into full effect! I can recommend this place. Enjoy your food!

As a meat lover I would suggest this place to everyone, the staff is very friendly, the place looks actually amazing and best of all this has been one of the best steak I've ever eaten (I took the Ribeye steak) . Will definetly come back in the future to try the other dishes offered. Grand bravo to the chef!

Very good and hip! Excellent steaks and nice wines for an excellent (not expensive) price. While we were eating they started playing tangos and people started to dance. We only took a main course but plenty of choices for starters. Also the asparagus were very nice prepared. And compliments for the waitress with good recommendations! Recommended this place. Not for veggies though..

    Amazing empanadas :)

Not only does Absintherie serve as a beautiful absinthe bar, it's also a small absinthe museum! They have displays with fascinating information about the history of absinthe, and items related to the making of absinthe. Since it's a Prague specialty, I chose to drink macerated absinthe. It was so fun to watch the bartender expertly handle the drink and the flames. Once my drink was made, I wandered around Absintherie while enjoying my drink and enjoying the displays and learning omre about absinthe. They used to sell absinthe ice cream here, according to a blog I read back in the early 2010s. Unfortunately, due to regulations in Prague, absinthe ice cream is no longer offered. However, the bartender who served me quickly whipped up a small bowl for me. When I asked him how much I owe him, he said don't worry about it, they only give it to nice people. That was so sweet and nice of him!!! 5 stars for sure!!!!! Thank you Absintherie for being such a memorable absinthe bar in Prague!

Reservations were booked…read moreweeks in advance but we decided to test our luck as it opened and got lucky with a walk in. This is a speakeasy where you spend 1.5-2 hours choosing drinks solely from illustrations that fit into a story. You truly don't know what the drink will be aside from the types of alcohol and a few words to describe the flavor profile. There were about 6 sections for 3-4 guests in a party, which is why reservations were highly recommended. The server then comes over with the cards and describes the concept. He does ask if there were any alcohols we didn't like, then gave us the cards to choose from. A few minutes later he came back and took them to get our drinks prepared. The drinks did take a little while to prepare. The server, who was now masked, delivered our drinks. They were served with different decorations or props to enhance the story telling. Each drink was quite different and were definitely well crafted. We ended up each having two rounds but there were probably 10 drinks to choose from. Pros -This concept is quite unique, and stood out over other speakeasies in Prague. -It's intimate and classy, and the ambiance offers an elevated experience. -The story telling element added another layer of experience, you would likely order more drinks to figure out the story. How they presented each cocktail was also very photo friendly. Opportunities -You could see your neighbors experience in front of you, which took away that surprise element that they were going for. You'd see their drinks roll by and would see what's coming. We also saw their reactions to their drinks so we knew what not to order. I wish there were curtains separating each party so it was really a surprise. -I wish the staff were in masks the entire time, it would be more spooky and true to how social media presents this place. They only wore them to bring drinks over. -Drinks were upscale but definitely an acquired taste. We liked some more than others. Overall this place is unique, and with a few tweaks on tiny details, I think would be phenomenal.

I had bookmarked Tynska recently and noticed it was only a few blocks away, so we walked over. In a city that confuses me every single time I round a corner, Tynska was actually easy to locate. About time that happened! It's not too far from Old Town Square, for context. When we arrived, the door was locked in speakeasy fashion. Turns out you need to ring the bell to be allowed in. Cool way to control crowds! I'm not sure if there was a dress code or not. My roommate and I were dressed normally for the season and were permitted inside without a reservation. Perhaps they're more strict later in the night or if there's limited seating. I checked in on Yelp and an ad popped up for a free snack plate. My server didn't know about it but asked the bartender, who accepted the coupon. What arrived was seriously beautiful: a tray of delicious cheeses (four different kinds, I believe), crackers, and a semi-sweet jam. We were also given a cup of popcorn mixed with potato chips and a separate bowl of green and black olives. So good!! For drinks, my roommate ordered a red wine, which she deemed "awesome." I chose the Life is Beautiful cocktail -- made with aperol, elderflower liquer, fresh lime, and topped with Laurent Petrier Champagne. At 295 crowns ($12), it was a splurge but totally worth it considering it was likely the best cocktail I've had in months. The decor here was dim, cool and ritzy. Think Mad Men styling. Perfect for a night out with a few close friends, a date, or to enjoy solo seating at the bar. Better than a club night? I'd say there's no comparison.
