    Old Fashion cocktail and water

A quick walk from the hotel Art Nouveau Palace, this neighborhood gem is unassuming and should not be missed!! Food. Ok, as a tourist we clearly had no idea how this tapas bar worked. Mike was happy to explain it to us. Each premade tapas or desert was delightfully displayed. You pick what you want and the sticks in each serving are collected in a small container back at your seat. The price is per stick- some dishes have multiple sticks. We visited for a late lunch 14.00p) Don't miss the hot foods! They're around the corner (ish). All the food and drink were very yummy and the bar service was spot on, too. Ambiance was a kewl, upscale, hipster kinda vibe. We had a high top counter/bar seat facing the street and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Prague life. In US terms...very affordable!! I had 3 small dishes, an old fashioned cocktail and a bottle of water (yup... water costs) all in $16. The only negative is on me. I wasn't sure of the exchange rates and don't think I tipped enough. Sorry Will I return? I can't wait to visit again!!

Really fun tapas experience in Prague. We managed to get a tiny window table for two without a reservation and were thrilled. We got lucky :-) The tapas are very good with veg and non-veg options, but more so it's just a super fun concept. Good beers. Mix of locals and tourists. Highly recommend.

This was a super fun place. You choose small plates from a delightfully huge array of choices. The staff are helpful and seating was comfortable. We really enjoyed this visit.

Our hotel concierge nailed it with this one! Every little bite was amazing. You get charged by the amount of sticks you're left with and it's all self-serve for the food. Trendy, comfortable atmosphere, great servers, and the food really is unique and delicious.

    Tasty tapas.

This is a fun place to enjoy small bites of delicious food. Select from an assortment of individual desserts and savory snacks. Each item has one or two skewers. You are charged by the number of skewers you collect at the end of your meal. Each skewer is 33.00 Kc ( $1.40 USD ). Cappuccino 68.00 Kc ( $2.90 USD ). Sleek and modern facilities in Old town Prague.

The restaurant name "Špejle" literally translates to skewer, and they are quite obsessed with them, using skewers on every portion of hot and cold food served. This bistro concept derives from the beloved Czech open-faced chlebíčky sandwiches, which are served in a špejle buffet where you enjoy as many skewers as you like, discard the skewers in a container on your table, and then you're charged based on the number of skewers, 29 CZK (or $1.25) each, and items range from 1 to 2 sticks depending on size/substance. This is such an awesome concept for serving beautifully thoughtful food. They also have a hand washing station near the front door, which I didn't notice until I was leaving, but still helpful since the food is consumed by hand. I selected 4 chlebíčky from the buffet, but there were other items offered too like salads, cured meats, and more. My first sampling consisted of salmon tartare and avocado purée on lettuce with caviar. It was lightly smoky, not too salty, with a creamy topper and crunchy bread beneath offering a good textural contrast and nice savory flavors. Next up I tried the beet purée on lettuce with eggplant-wrapped ricotta cheese and grated egg white. Bites encompass flavors of eggplant rollatini with slightly sweet beets to offset. It was not too beety, but just the right balance. One of my favorite selections featured cooked apple, hazelnut and ground pistachios on generously piped creamy cow's cheese. I loved this one! The combination of fruity, nutty, creamy, cheesy, and crunchy is lovely. My other favorite of the day had caramelized onion, goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, fig, and dried tomato on lettuce with balsamic drizzle. My first bite tasted like onion dip, then a hint of sweetness from the tomato and fig. This was also really well-balanced with intriguing flavors. One of the other unique offerings at Špejle is their mix-and-match gin and tonic menu. There is actually a chart you can use to select your own customized gin and tonic, with suggestions on good pairings. I used their suggestion and tried an elderflower gin and tonic, which was super refreshing and delicious!! I was seriously impressed and very pleased by my experience here. It was not crowded midday so it was perfect for an easy lunch.

    Variety of offerings

I loved the concept of this modern approach to the 'Go Fetch' cafeteria style. Modern designed restaurant with small bites ranging from cheeses, to salads, to quesadillas to wonderful desserts. You choose what you want when you want it. It's ok to have dessert first. You pay by the number of sticks you collect.

Spejle was reccomended by Vincent, a waiter at Sia, and I had seen the restaurant on YouTube. So we had to check it out. It is a nicely decorated, with great lighting, a warm atmosphere, a killer playlist and a very friendly staff. They have a wide selection of tapas, wines, spirits, beer and soft drinks. We enjoyed everything, with the exception of the soup, which was kind of greasy and a little to salty. The portions were a perfect size, which allowed us to try a variety of foods and desserts. Maxine tried 2 of the Spejle beers, an IPA that is brewed by the restaurant, though she also had the Spejle Lager. I will put this place on the must visit list of restaurants and will definitely visit again.

Fun restaurant! Nice Czech wine, good food, many different kinds of tapas, attentive staff, upbeat music. A very pleasant retreat from the street.

Well executed concept and design. The food itself is very good. Can get pricey if you are hungry and they often run out of certain items.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place while looking for a restaurant near our hotel in Prague,…read morehaving no idea what we were about to experience. We ducked through a doorway clearly not designed for anyone over six feet and were immediately greeted by the man we later learned was the owner. I'm a classic beef-and-potatoes American eater, so the small-plate menu wasn't something I'd normally gravitate toward. But I couldn't have been more wrong. We shared several dishes -- deer, prawns, eggplant, goat cheese -- all things I wouldn't usually order, and every single plate was phenomenal. Even the drinks were memorable. The owner talked me out of a Coca-Cola and into their iced tea, which turned out to be incredible. We ended the meal with cappuccinos that were just as impressive. Every part of the experience introduced us to new flavors and combinations we never expected to love. It might honestly be the best restaurant I've ever visited. The owner was welcoming, friendly, and guided us through the menu like a tour of flavor town. We visited on a Monday without a reservation and were very lucky to get a table. For about $90 USD, we enjoyed a glass of wine, an iced tea, seven different small plates, two desserts, and coffee -- a meal that would easily cost over $200 back in the States. If you're in Prague and want an exceptional meal served by people who treat you like family, Kofein is the place. Call ahead if you can -- you won't be disappointed.
