A two star Michelin gem by the river. This restaurant is close to Charles bridge and so v picturesque. The food is truly sublime. We started w an Amuse bouche of a silky smooth mousse of cucumber and mint in the most elegant shot glass shaped like a globe. Our appetizers were a beef cheek tortellini in an amazing sauce. The other app was scallops on a sea of foam and island of sugar snap peas. Mains continued to amaze w veal and sides done perfectly. Dover sole was rolled and covered in lentils and creamy potato on the bottom. Between main and dessert we had a sorbet In The requisite liquid nitrogen. Desserts were impressive w a deconstructed chocolate eclair - homemade puff pastry need I say more - and a Valrhona chocolate cake w popcorn and a dollop of ice cream. Service is as it should be - helpful, understated, informed and well timed. I can not stand to be condescended to for another meal by waitstaff who feel I should be grateful for their time. Bellevue has professional, courteous staff thank goodness. This restaurant is famous and attracts all types. Witness young girl w her grandparents wearing a t shirt and short shorts for dinner. People wearing evening clothes - a little too over the top. And finally and perhaps most egregiously, those who think dressing well includes dousing oneself in perfume - thus making it impossible to enjoy wine and food - eating and drinking are a total sensory experience. I wanted to treat myself to a fancy lunch, so I chose Bellevue. For one, their availability was open while other top spots were proving difficult to get a reservation for 2 in. This was the first plus. Location and ambience are the second plus, as it's gorgeous inside and easy to get to. The restaurant is close to the Dancing House, although I wasn't around the area for it. If you were planning to visit that spot on your visit, you could pair it with a lunch here. Not too close to Old Town, which was also nice. Classy and polished - the way to describe the decor, the staff and the overall vibe. Tasting menu - definitely go for it. We were able to make some simple substitutions without any issues, which I did appreciate as I chose two apps and no dessert. All the dishes were incredibly light and flavorful, as you might expect. Definitely a pricey lunch, but absolutely worth it - would definitely recommend and would return. read more

This is definitely on my list next time I'm visiting Prague as well! Made a lunch reservation last minute and the process was so smooth and easy! The location is perfect! I was here for lunch on Thursday and got the window seat with a nice view of the river and bridge. We tried the two course and three course menus, which I think are both great deals! The quality of the food is superb especially considering the affordable price you are paying for the lunch menus. We also checked out the dinner menu on the way out, and overall I think lunch is a pretty good representations of some of their best dishes with half of the price. My absolute favorite was the beef tartare with shallots. It melts in your mouth and the cooked shallots perfectly balance out the rawness of the beef. We got the cod fish soup as another appetizer, however it is a little too salty on its own. For the main course, we tried the guinea fowl and the drum fish. I personally loved the drum fish, which paired well with broccoli and a cream based, spinach purée. The guinea fowl itself is a little bit mediocre, but the beets and Brussels sprouts on the side with the beet purée tasted amazing. We shared the chocolate mousse and banana ice cream. If you want fine dining in Prague, look no further than Bellevue. Service: The service was top-notch with our server being extremely knowledgeable about the wine menu and each dish we ordered. Food: Was originally nervous about the menu due to the originality in offerings but went for it and was not disappointed. Everything we ordered was fresh, unique and flavorful - additionally, we received an appetizer on the house which was unlike anything I have ever eaten before. Absolutely amazing!! This place is very special. The staff is all about pleasing the diners. We felt completely comfortable. The dining room was beautiful-- lights a little too bright, but fine. We ordered the foie gras and lagustine for starters. Foie gras wins hands down. The Sauternes was paired beautifully with the dish. For supper, we had veal and sea bass. I enjoyed them both. Dinner for 2, we paid $230 including a glass of wine and tip. If you were planning to pop the question or celebrate your 25th anniversary over dinner, this would be the perfect high end location. Try to get a window seat where you can see the river and the beautifully lit up Castle atop the hill. Price Fixe menu is dainty portions, delicious, instagram friendly and sufficient. So nice not to go home stuffed to the gills. Note, the only veggie will be a small garnishe. Tip: if you are too tired to walk to/from the restaurant, take Uber, it's 35% cheaper than taxi. My usual rule of thumb for dining out is gorgeous views and great food don't always come together, so I was in for a shock when my daughter made a reservation on a whim at Bellevue. The restaurant is on the riverfront with gorgeous views of the Charles Bridge, castle and cathedral. But to my surprise the food was fantastic! Bellevue serves haute cuisine French food executed perfectly. My spouse and I ordered the tasting menu which was a bargain for the quality of the meal. We highly recommend it!! read more

You can choose from the degustation menu 5 or 4 dishes or even 3 dishes (appetizer, main dish and dessert) from the whole à la carte menu. The food was delicious and service was really good. Everything on the menu was good. I was there with my boyfriend and two friends so we all tasted pretty much everything and all the dishes we tried were cooked to perfection. Wonderful space and lovely meal. Service was a tad perfunctory, but they warmed up as the evening went on. Bit limited on Czech wines by the glass, but still a quality selection. Loved that you could choose a from 2 degustation menus, or a la carte. We throughly enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin soup to start, along with a very light goats cheese with endive. Mains were cod with caviar beurre blanc, and venison strap with pumpkin gnocchi and hazelnuts. Both were beautifully plated and impeccably prepared. Incredible meal with a view of the Prague Castle if you get the right seat like we did. 6 courses with wine pairings for 130 Euro is well well worth it. They could charge more, especially with such impeccable service. The beef tartare with truffle and sunchoke stole the show. I loved the scallop and its complex sauce drizzles and the popcorn topped dessert. The pea soup amuse and the smokey yogurt something palate cleanser were sophisticated touches. While we ate at a number of very good restaurants on a recent Danube River cruise, none of the others could even hold a candle to Bellevue. I don't know if this restaurant has any Michelin stars, but based on our meal there, all six of us agreed it certainly deserved one. First, our table had an incredible view of the Lobkowicz Castle across the Vltava River, so we were treated to a magnificent setting as the sun descended. But on to the food, which was the real star...To begin, an amuse bouche of a shrimp served in a gazpacho of pureed strawberry and a wonderful blend of spices. Then we were served our appetizers, which included a veal ragout canneloni, a 63-degree organic egg served over asparagus, a salmon and avocado salad, and the pièce de résistance, a pair of pan-fried scallops served with risotto over a puree of green peas--this last dish was truly world-class. Our entrees included an Atlantic wild cod served with saffron spaghetti and clams; a roasted fillet of veal with a puree of root vegetables, an ox-cheek potato pie and porcini sauce; and one diner had the previously-described scallops as his entree. This course was followed by a palate-cleaning sorbet provided complimentary by the restaurant. Desserts included a Valrhona chocolate cremeux; a "Painter's Palette", a selection of small scoops of ice cream and sherbets, and which is literally served on a palette-shaped plate and served with several small flavored syrups/toppings with which the diner can "paint" the dessert; and a Tahitian vanilla panna cotta. If you ever make a trip to Prague, spend a few extra dollars to dine here--make reservations ahead of time and request a table with a view. Get the wine pairings--they're excellent. Food itself would be 3 stars but here's why I'm giving it a 1: The food is really nothing to rave about. We found it lacking originality. It was like as if they recreated dishes they had in the U.S. Pouring sauce over entrees doesn't make the dish "fancy". Knocking off a star for bringing an iPad to the table asking us to review the place at the end of the meal. This we found to be not only annoying but it also made them seem really desperate for good reviews. Another star is taken off for calling a cab for us that completely ripped us off. Do not have them call this cab guy for you. He's not with any cab company, just a driver on his own. If you need a cab, ask to have them call a AAA cab. read more

The wait staff we superb in dress and knowledge of their menu and wine. We were on a semi tight timeline and their timeliness was perfect. All meals and wine were absolutely spectacular. The portions were exact and the presentation was flawless. They matched wines to our meals which were perfect in every way. The restaurant is located near Charles Bridge with a great view of the water. The food and service are both outstanding. The "homemade Snickers" desert looked beautiful enough to be considered art and tasted as good as it looked. My only complaint is that the portions were very small. One of the highlights of our 5 month trip to Europe. From start to finish, a great experience. We couldn't get a table as we tried to book at the last minute but went back to see Martine twice at the reception. Martine found a way to accommodate us not only on the night that we wanted, but at a lovely table. The food was great (Venison was the best we've ever had). The service was absolutely impeccable and better than any 3 star Michelin restaurant we've ever eaten at. Ondrej (the deputy manager) was great and knowledgeable and helpful about Czech wines which are worth a try; e.g. the Grand Cuvee Caberner. Just a great experience all around and this is coming from big time foodaholics who eat out a lot. PS. Martine was extraordinary and she has to get a second mention. Also, we really feel bad for not getting the name of our server who was just super friendly and wonderful too. it was perhaps unfortunate that the week prior we ate at tantris in munich. we all felt the food was overpriced by czech standards, inferior to other top quality restaurants and the atmosphere unappealing, except for those with a window table. service was uninspired (even haughty) and the food suffered from a chef with a heavy hand with the salt. ti was not a terrible meal by any standards, just not up to the price or promotion. billed as a top level experience, it wasn't there...or even close. read more

our german friends told us to go for the view and atmosphere and not expect much of the food. they were spot on. food is so awful as to elude description. setting, service and location can't be beat. it was a bit pretentious and stuffy but the czechs are sincere and friendly. whatever you do, don't go for the 5 course prix fixe. even the breadbasket was loaded with tasteless junk. if you must go, minimize your damage and just order an appetizer and entre. the wine pairings were as awful as the food. folks that loved it on the site haven't a clue what fine food is supposed to taste like. it's horrid, poorly seasoned and prepared(i ordered medium and my veal was raw) and the sauces are so overpowering they ruin any flavor the food might have. what's more when we didn't eat 10% of our dinners they didn't notice nor did they even offer to try again or remove it from the bill. beware, overall it's a grim experience. and it was like throwing $300 in the toilet. read more
