We had one of the best meals of our entire European trip at Zdenek's. This was perhaps helped by the fact that we love seafood and especially oysters. This is a very nice classy place (I honestly felt slightly underdressed in my touristy best). But they welcomed us openly and seated us immediately. We found the staff to be super helpful, taking our coats, answering our questions and pouring us countless glasses of water (we were super thirsty). We started with oysters, which are shucked immediately and perfectly prepared. I mean like expert shucking here. And the oysters themselves were from all areas around the Mediterranean and were both larger than the ones we typically get here in the states and really complex in flavor. We were basically in oyster heaven. We took the suggestion of our server and ordered a kind of sampler to start, then we ordered a few more of our favorites. The oysters were perfectly presented with a trio of sauces. We don't know what was in the green one but we really REALLY liked it. We also kind of sort of accidentally ordered this huge lobster grill platter. Our waiter, who was great, didn't speak super English. I was asking him which platter he liked the best and he said the lobster. My husband wanted the shrimp and I thought we ordered the shrimp. I then watched the chef make this incredible lobster platter on ice and was just really admiring the attention to detail... and then they brought it to our table! Whoops. Well I wasn't going to send it back. We ate it and did not regret it at all. Also, can I just pause for a second to talk about the bread and butter that is served here? There are two oyster shell halves cleaned out and filled with butter and one of them is full of butter laced with black caviar. Just shut up. I ate all of the bread so I could eat all of the caviar. Man. So great. And in the end the bill was quite reasonable, especially when compared to what we'd pay for a similar feast at home. It was so good we seriously considered going back a second time but we ran out of time. Next time we're in Prague, though, this will be very high on the list for a re-visit. read more

Best meal in Prague hands down. Ladya and Georgies were excellent servers. Went here twice. They know everything and will describe items in detail if you let them. Ordered Cristal and Caviar as my wife and I were celebrating buying our first house. My wife had the king crab and got it as a Thai, Italian, and American trio. I had the oysters, pretty much 1 of every kind (between both times going), they're all good. Highly recommend if you're an oyster and bubbles person! read more

Needing a break from meat, Zdenek's was perfect. To start, some amazing bread and butter with caviar to salt it- brilliant! They launched a new grill menu and we splurged on the Royal Grill for two which came with lobster, prawns, shrimp, two large piece of octopus, mussels, clams and garlic baguette. They also brought us out an salmon tartare amuse and some bonbons for dessert. Sitting outside enjoying this decadent platter with some local white wine was a major #treatyoself moment read more

I can't say enough positive things about this place. It is world class Michelin-star-worthy cuisine and I think it's a goddamn shame they weren't given a star yet. We have been to several starred places in the guide on our Poland/Czech Republic tour and this oyster bar truly stood out as exceptional. The decor is stylish and modern and befitting of a place specializing in oysters and champagne. The servers were friendly and informed, and the wine list was extensive. But the food definitely stole the show. From the tuna tartar amuse bouche, thru to the chocolate dessert nestled in a candy floss cloud, this was the best meal we've had in a very long time. Needed my Oyster fix and ended up at Zdeneks. OK so..... Zdeneks is located "In the cut" on Mala Stupartska and Jakubska. For those who are unfamiliar with "in the cut" is means, hidden, sketchy-ish, hard to find. The restaurant is in what seems like a very European alley. We originally sat outside, but then it started to rain. So we ever-so quickly sat inside. For dinner, the lighting takes "dim" to a whole new level. Baby it was DARK. I had to use my cell phone to see. But it was nice dont get me wrong. CON: So, we ordered a bottle of wine from 1983. If you know much about wine, old wine is expensive. This bottle was a big let down. First, it took almost 20 minutes to get the cork out. Then they had to strain it a few times because there were pieces of the cork trying to mingle in my grape goodness. Honestly the wine wasnt that good. It had turned. So, was pretty let down. PRO: Oysters. Now, the food was super delicious. We ordered a plethora of Seafood Succulents. Oysters, lobster, Octopus, prawns. You name it, we ate it. It was all delicious. European oyster are very fresh and meaty. One thing you must try are their fusion oysters. Especially the one with Ponzu and Garlic Butter. WARNING: ITS EXPENSIVE. So be prepared. read more

Prague, Czech Republic Food 4.0 Value 2.0 Service 4.0 Ambiance 4.0 As far as an oyster bar/French Bistro with a country/rustic approach with bar stool, bar table and dining room seating this place is top notch. The staff is great and on top of it. The food is pretty damn good. As in the Octopus Iron Pan and the sauce that accompanies it is AMAZING!!! The oysters are the freshest and best I've ever had. Better that the same oysters I had in Brussels. The bread basket that comes with the butter in the oyster shell is really awesome too. The traditional Czech brown bread is sublime. The crust so flavorful and perfect! If you are a "yelper" in Prague and enjoy restaurants - major points lost on your end on the fact you have not been or reviewed this spot with a 4 star or higher review. Located directly across the street from Saint James Church away form the massive crowds. The ambiance, service, and food are quite sophisticated, but definitely not stuffy and quite relaxed. The menu is not extensive, but the variety of seafood is. We started with an Amuse Bouche followed by three types of fresh bread with sea salt butter and caviar butter. We ordered 3 types of oysters which were fresh, tender and delicious. We ordered the Deluxe Grilled Seafood Platter for two: white wine and butter sauce, octopus(best I have EVER had, melt in your mouth tender), lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, prawns, toasted bread. One of the most amazing seafood dishes I have ever enjoyed. We ended with a dessert of two creams, chocolate crumple and passion fruit espuma surrounded by cotton candy. The service is impeccable, attentive, helpful, and very friendly. I really can't say enough about the food/service. It is absolutely sublime. Be prepared as this restaurant is quite expensive, but worthy every penny! read more

You're going to pay more than you're used to in Prague, but my goodness, it will ALL be worth it. We started with a bottle of the Czech white wine (delicious) and a chef's choice of a dozen oysters - each variety more tasty than the last. They also gave us a crab foamy (gratis) app with a tiny cracker, adorned with some seafood, which was amazing. You should get the lobster risotto, because the lobster itself was so perfectly cooked, I wish there was more of it. ...just when we thought our dinner could not get any better? We ordered the candy floss dessert. Which I will be dreaming about for the years to come (or, at least until I come back to visit). Heaven. Sheer perfection. To cap off our meal, we got a small fudge plate and some peanut shaped fudges that were magical. If you need a break from all the meat you've been eating, this is the right choice to make! read more

I found this restaurant searching for a seafood place and was not disappointed. My boyfriend and I shared the royale platter. We were originally going to order that and a course but the waiter informed us that it would be too much and I'm glad we listened :) they also have really good bread and two types of butters a plain one and one with seaweed. Of course we had to try the oyster and we ordered the de Luna oysters since they were more mild and they were so delicious! Highly recommend. read more

My goal was to taste oysters and that is exactly what happened. The selection here is great. Both for Champagne and oysters. So I asked the very competent staff to set up a selection of their recommended oysters for the day. I ordered seven different ones and sips of champagne to accompany them. The plate was expertly explained. The name, area of origin and characteristics of each oyster. Nameplanks indicating which was which on the large plate. Three garnishes in case you enjoy onion vinaigrettes or other on your oyster. The staff here are excited about what they serve you and the profession they have chosen. Great service. We wanted to taste oysters before moving on into the night so we chose to sit at the bar. This place has much more than oysters. It looked like a reservation would be necessary for a full sit down dinner around seven/ eight o'clock in the evening. read more

Haha, it's good food no doubt but you'll lose a fingernail in the process. These are some steep prices for oysters, but this is coming from someone who has been spoiled from living by the coast of California, so going from $1-3 dollars an oyster to $4-6 is quite a leap. Other dishes are pretty savage too price-wise, I ordered the seafood platter with a friend and 2 glasses of wine. The grand total for everything was ~$280 which you can say is fine because we're on vacation so why not? But I was not expecting to spend that much at a place that has 'oyster bar' in its name. With that said, this place is not really a 'bar' like in America: TVs on the screen, people dressed casually, and such. This place looks and feels like a high-end restaurant, the service is immaculate, the design ostentatious, and all of the guests are wearing nice suits and dresses, so I felt a little out of place when I walked in with a tanktop, shorts, and sandals HAHA! This was one of the first restaurants I visited in Prague, so I got to learn a lot of things here like the fact that the sales tax is ~23%, tipping is 15-25% (Versus no tip which is what you're accustomed to in other parts of Europe), and this is not a city to be in if you want to splurge on oysters. read more

Extremely disappointing experience. We made reservations and were really looking forward to eating seafood. We sat down and were served water and ordered a bottle of red wine. At least 15 minutes passed before a server returned to let us know the bottle we ordered was not available so we chose another. She then disappeared. No one working there checked on our table of four. People who arrived 10 minutes after us were immediately taken care of and had their wine poured and orders taken. Was on a trip to Prague and got a night to myself to do some exploring. Wasn't really interested in eating a side of beef like so many of the other restaurants advertise and Zdenek's hit the spot. The service was pleasant and offered me a seat outside which allowed me to enjoy the great weather and do some people watching. The kitchen offered an amuse bouche of a clam soup/reduction, tempura seaweed, and a seaweed broth. It was very tasty and in a larger quantity could have been a great appetizer. I had the "Simple" seafood combination as my entree along with two glasses of Cava. The combination consisted of three oysters, three prawns, a few razor clams, 10-12 mussels, and like 15 sea snails. Everything tasted fresh as one could expect from a land locked country. The meal was served with nearly nine different sauces and garnishes such as vinegar and onions, a few different aioli, fresh horseradish, and some kind of spicy sauce. After trying a little of each sauce, I opted to keep it simple and squeeze lemon juice on everything and enjoy the seafood as is. I was going to do a dessert, but decided to walk around. Thankfully I did that because the kitchen sent out another amuse bouche dessert of some housemade candy. Two were gummies with a citrus/passion fruit flavor that I couldn't quite get into. There was also two "peanuts" that were chocolate and peanut butter and that was really tasty. My final bill came out to 2150czk (~$90) which includes a service fee, but then tip (10-15%) is expected on top of that. So be aware that the bill will be a touch higher than simply adding up the menu prices. Overall, the meal was satisfying but the value could have been a little stronger. On vacation in Europe right now. Staying in Prague right now. Many wines, friendly staff and ambient atmosphere is another plus. Highly recommended! The "ZDENEK'S OYSTER BAR RESTAURANT" Recommended was near our hotel and was easy to locate? "Same Restaurant with two names" This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Prague. From the moment we entered we were made to feel welcome and professionally served. Friendly staff and ambient atmosphere is another plus. Our waiter { Tronda } was very friendly. The menu is seafood with an emphasis on oysters from specific french regions. Their main offer is many kinds of fresh oysters, but also their sea food (crabs, fishes, lobster, etc) is excellent hey were spectacular and as fresh as is humanly possible. As for oysters and seafood, in my opinion there isn't better place in Prague. When combined with a grower champagne and a range of lovely crusty bread, well we were in heaven! The waiter recommended an old rum at the end of our dinner, but there was know need for me to have a glass of rum. I was already feeling the French wine I had with my lobster. This place is not for the budget conscious but you get the quality that you pay for. If you like oysters or a fancy lobster dinner, this is the place for you. I give this restaurant five Stars. Let me say, if there were additional spots for stars, I would give it. I promised the general manager I would leave my review, sorry it took so long. My wife, myself, and 3year old daughter stopped by in spring of 2016. It was hard to find, google map was going crazy and the locals didn't know much of it because of the $$$$. We started with oysters and bottle of champagne. It was perfect.....we then ordered 2 main entrees. They didn't have much for a 3 year old. So the general manager had the chef whip up a kids meal. Amazing service. After the main entrees, We kept asking for more recommendations and each dish was simply the best we have ever had in Europe. The night didn't end, daughter fell asleep so we kept ordering more dishes and bottles. At the end wife and I had some predictions of the bill and thought even though it will be extremely high, it will be worth it... total was around 280. We can't believe for the amount of dishes that we had it was only 280. 2 bottles, 3 entrees, 1 kids meal, and half of the appetizers. If this was in New York it would have been double. We have recommended this place to so many friends. Next time we visit Prague, I doubt we need to cross the bridge, we have to stop by and enjoy the rest of the dishes with fresh oysters. read more
