I can attest to that because after 4 days or so of wondering the streets for endless hours I have only come across 2 fish/seafood shops; this one and this one but in another part of town LOL. I can't judge the freshness of the seafood and raw stuff though it does look fresh. I was only able to stomach the lonely seafood soup while I was waiting for my 30 minute gourmet burger next door. The broth is noticeably clean/clear and very fishy at first sip. I can't say it's bad because it's difficult to mess up fresh seafood broth but I wouldn't say it's good or fantastic either. It's... okay, kinda, sorta seafood-ish. What it really lacks is depth and aromatics. Other than a few scantily twigs of cilantro, there wasn't much in the broth other than an unjustifiable amount of seafood. Now one would think with so much seafood alone it must be great. However, it's like getting a 16oz steak that is well-done. Sub-par broth with very very done seafood makes for an okay soup.

Tastebuds of a 10-year-old but the wallet of a CEO. He's a hard guy to impress. He'll spend 80 quid on a plate and still ask if they have chicken tenders. He says things like "complex flavor profile" then washes it down with a Diet Coke. I only managed a photo of the scallop before it disappeared into my stomach. Cooked to perfection. Sweet glaze on top. Delicate. Balanced. Honestly one of the better things I ate on the entire trip. What stood out most was the chef's style. No two plates looked the same. Each one had its own story. You could tell someone cared back there. After I cleaned my plate, the waitress came over. She had a mouth on her that would make a sailor blush, but somehow it worked. She gave my brother a hard time for not finishing his shrimp. Proper dressing down. Someone had to say it. I admired her for holding us traveling lads to a local standard. Bit pricey, sure. We had one of the best meals of our entire European trip at Zdenek's. This was perhaps helped by…read morethe fact that we love seafood and especially oysters. This is a very nice classy place (I honestly felt slightly underdressed in my touristy best). But they welcomed us openly and seated us immediately. We found the staff to be super helpful, taking our coats, answering our questions and pouring us countless glasses of water (we were super thirsty). We started with oysters, which are shucked immediately and perfectly prepared. I mean like expert shucking here. And the oysters themselves were from all areas around the Mediterranean and were both larger than the ones we typically get here in the states and really complex in flavor. We were basically in oyster heaven. We took the suggestion of our server and ordered a kind of sampler to start, then we ordered a few more of our favorites. The oysters were perfectly presented with a trio of sauces. We don't know what was in the green one but we really REALLY liked it. We also kind of sort of accidentally ordered this huge lobster grill platter. Our waiter, who was great, didn't speak super English. I was asking him which platter he liked the best and he said the lobster. My husband wanted the shrimp and I thought we ordered the shrimp. I then watched the chef make this incredible lobster platter on ice and was just really admiring the attention to detail... and then they brought it to our table! Whoops. Well I wasn't going to send it back. We ate it and did not regret it at all. Also, can I just pause for a second to talk about the bread and butter that is served here? There are two oyster shell halves cleaned out and filled with butter and one of them is full of butter laced with black caviar. Just shut up. I ate all of the bread so I could eat all of the caviar. Man. So great. And in the end the bill was quite reasonable, especially when compared to what we'd pay for a similar feast at home. It was so good we seriously considered going back a second time but we ran out of time. Next time we're in Prague, though, this will be very high on the list for a re-visit.
