    We went here a couple months back and had an awesome dining experience! The food was great and well priced for the quality and city-center location :) not to mention the excellent service too! The restaurant's ambience and decor is simply stunning, high-end dining in a homey atmosphere. We had a great time here and would definitely visit again next time we're in Prague! Highly recommended!! P.S. The panna cotta is a must try if you're a dessert connoisseurs (perfectly creamy and not too sweet)

    After over a week of bad food and bad service not to mention all the scamming in Czech Republic, we were in desperate need of a good restaurant. My husband and I had a reservation at the Michelin starred "Field" restaurant for another day (see my other review), but this place was bonus that we happened to discover by chance. We got to the restaurant earlier than their opening time, so when we walked in (the door was open) they were having a staff meeting and there was a photographer there there to photograph their new items or something. We didn't mind waiting outside as they were not ready to open yet. When it was time, we walked back in and they were very welcoming and they took our coats to hang. We were seated at a lovely window seat (see photo) where we can gaze out the street from below. The restaurant is seated below street level. We ordered from their Retro Menu which's comprised of "The Best of 2002 - 2017." What we ate: amuse bouche : tiny cup of carrot soup was rich, creamy, with depth of flavor. bread : excellent freshly baked, & chewy. Their mini rolls were absolutely wonderful! Seared Duck foie gras with roasted hazelnuts, brioche and sour cherry sauce. I love the sweet balance on this dish with the perfect amount of acidity. Best dish of 2005. Octopus carpaccio with celery, rucola, and olive oil. Tender and sweet octopus. Best dish of 2008 Slowly braised Veal cheeks with marsala, parsnip purée, young carrot and crunchy bacon. Melt-in-your-mouth good. Fine balance of textures dancing in my mouth! Best dish of 2012 Grilled scallops served atop risotto with truffles, black salsify, port and red wine reduction. Perfectly cooked! Best dish of 2006 Dessert: Pineapple filled with lemon parfait . Refreshing and delicious! Best dessert of 2009 This little gem of a restaurant is Michelin recommended and a must visit when in Prague! I have La Veranda to thank for erasing my unsavory memories of Czech Republic. :) Total bill was $140 including tip. Very reasonable for the quality of food, service, and included two glasses of wine.

    Absolutely stunning! From start to finish, this place was amazing. We were greeted warmly, the interior was lovely, and the food out of this world. We had the chef's 5-course tasting menu with the wine pairing. Stop what you are doing and go there RIGHT NOW and EAT!

    If you want a quiet location just outside the crowds of tourists. Creative dishes, including sea bass which was cooked to perfection.

    Definitely a place to come back, for many reasons! Food is very tasty, Thai soup, sea bass but first and foremost chocolate foundant. The interior is very homie, upper part of the restaurant. Service was also very nice and forthcoming. So why 4 stars one may say. Well, as it was almost excellent, I think there is still little space for improvement in my wide scale!

    Such a lovely and home feeling restaurant. The food was exquisite, fabulous beyond words. Serving was pleasant discreet and in lighting. The best well prepared tasting meek ever. My best recommendations.. come visit this pearl. I look forward to visit you again.

We learned about the restaurant from a group of travel bloggers we've used for trips both in the US and globally. The restaurant is located on two floors in Henry's Bell Tower, near the Powder Tower. As some have noted, the restaurant is on the pricier side. However, the food is so well prepared that if you are in the mood for a splurge in a unique location, you should go for it. My husband, stepson, and I had three different traditional Czech entrees -- the wild boar ragout, the duck breast, and the venison with dumplings -- and all three were outstanding. Combined with a traditional Czech pils, you can't go wrong. We skipped dessert in favor of a fresh chimney cake on our walk back to the hotel. The restaurant took us a little early for our reservation, which was helpful as we were tired from our day of flying and ready to get to bed. The service struck a nice balance between being attentive and not overly so. The crowd was a mix of tourists and locals enjoying a nice dinner. The vibe was casual and unstuffy. The restaurant is family-owned and we were treated to the son being a primary server for our group. Now and then dad was part of the picture too and we enjoyed the added dynamic. Pretty sure the son is on point for Americans as his English was on point. They were great hosts!

Lunch seems the perfect time to come as the restaurant was not totally booked and we had so much attention from staff, including the front desk, wait staff, sommelier, and bartender. But I'm guessing dinner would be a blast, too. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our lead waitress was Michaela, and she was the most polished and professional server I've ever met!! We felt so well cared for. In our 3 person party we had me: a vegetarian, and our son who has severe food allergies, to peanuts, pine nuts, and most nuts. 2 of the 3 don't drink any alcohol. Amazingly, it was not a problem at all. In fact, they were prepared!! There was a vegetarian prix fixe menu, with both a large and a smaller option, plus we could order the 'non-alcoholic' version of the wine pairings. So we did. My son had phoned ahead to inform them about his food allergies, and Michaela and the bartender confirmed them when we were seated. The staff was so welcoming and completely knowledgeable about ingredients. They did a fantastic job keeping my son safe, like bringing out his dessert first so it would come close to the 5 other pastries that included nuts. The bartender made him a special cocktail that was hazelnut-free. The 'pesto' was made with pumpkin seeds instead of pine nuts. The staff told us the ingredients of every single dish and cocktail!! And literally showed us! Our waitress brought over a tray that included things like snails, crawfish, and artichokes, and then she told us where they'd sourced them in Czechia! Except the crawfish, as we learned they are a protected animal in Czechia, so they are brought in from Germany. We loved that part, hearing where all of these beautiful ingredients came from. I'll include a few photos from both my vegetarian and their regular prix fixe adventures. The pea soup was my favorite! My son said the deer main dish was the 'best thing I've ever eaten, in my entire life'. I didn't take photos of the non-alcoholic cocktails, but those were lovely. Especially a super fun foamy pomegranate one!
