Fantastic service and food. We ate dinner here our first night in Prague. It is quiet, nice ambience, friendly staff, and chefs that know what they are doing and show competency and care. It was our last night in Prague and wanted a decent dinner. This wasn't too far from our hotel so we decided to try it. They got seated even though we didn't have reservations. Our waiter was excellent as he was funny and had some great suggestions. He was attentive throughout the meal. Wife wanted a salad to go with her meal instead of the vegetables, and he said no problem. It has a steakhouse feel with very good food. Give it a try but I would get reservations. read more

Very nice ambiance and the staff did a good job. We had Goulash which was a new dish to us. It was like a beef stew but with what tasted like sweet bbq sauce added. The vegetables were mostly bell pepper and onions but also something that looked like sliced garlic. I picked out the garlic but I didn't actually taste the garlic in the dish. We split a Caesar salad which was huge. The dressing was a little mild but it was a bargain. The Goulash included these fried potato patties that were very good. Don't know exactly what was in them but they were very crispy and fairly greasy. We loved them. The only down side was the place was a little pricey. I would have loved to have a steak but the price was based on 100 grams which is 3.5 ounces. That's a pretty small steak. If you want 200 grams it would double the price for 7 ounces. If you want 300 grams (10.5 ounces) you'd be looking at triple the base price. The steaks looked very good but this is pretty pricey. If your OK with spending few bucks I think you'd like this place. If we come back to Prague we'll dine here again and maybe I'll fork over the bucks to have a good steak. read more

We were looking for a nice variety of options and the Beef House Grill menu looked good but we were concerned that there were no recent reviews. We were very pleased to find the restaurant is very nicely designed, upscale and inviting. The food was well prepared and delicious. Went there during easter Sunday. Brilliant service, they did not have T-bone steak and fish because it was during the holiday (yay for fresh fish!!) Reasonable quality of steaks, not over/undercooked. Sides were tasty as well. The staff member was incredibly nice, helped with the wine selection and was very attentive. Tourist friendly restaurant with an English menu. What is important to note here is that they give the price of the meat per 100g and you must order at least 250g. We ordered the NY Strip Steak and Fillet Steak both medium rare. The NY Strip Steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor to it. The Fillet Steak came rare, but it was still good because the meat was fresh. The FIT Salad was a little bland, but the goat cheese that it came with was the star. The burger was also very flavorful and came with fries with bbq sauce. Definitely get the tiramisu as it wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of cream. Went here with a group of 8 family members. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was great. The steak is priced in 100g increments, but you often have to buy at least 200g, so it can be more expensive than it looks. After trying one great steakhouse in Prague, I thought I would give another one a try. A quick find on Yelp helped me find this place, and I was not disappointed! Beef House Grill & Bar is a rather high-end restaurant with great decor. When you arrive, you will notice that there is also the Beef House Bistro right across the street. You would want to enter this one for great steaks. The menu shows all steaks by price of 100 g, but note that most steaks start at 200 g as minimum size (100 g is not going to satisfy anyone any day anyway!). Truth be told, this place's price is about 3x my first steakhouse, but the pricing is still very reasonable when you compare what you get to the US pricing standard (especially when you take into account the decor, ambiance etc. in addition to the great food). We ordered the NY Strip steak, which comes at 250 g, and the romp steak, which was 200 g. Both tasted divine and wonderful. The succulent juice with perfect blend of fat and meat. I also highly recommend you get the Pepper sauce along with the steak. For side, the small salad is a perfect complement to a great meal. Enjoy! read more

I had the medium rare fillet steak which was tasty but a little too salty. The best part about it was the chili oil sprinkled over the plate, which complimented it perfectly. My boyfriend had the t-bone steak (also medium rate) which was good as well but not quite as intense in flavour. What I really hated was the strawberry lemonade. It was so sweet I had to leave it even after adding more and more water to it. read more

Disappointed. Entered the restaurant on my own as travelling for work. Was shown to a table by the nice hostess and a waiter came along within a couple of minutes. I ordered a burger and fries. Was not asked or offered anything else - no side dishes, or even how I like my burger cooked. Waiter left. Came back within about 2 mins with my drink and plonked it down (bottle) on the table and walked away. No ice, no glass. Just a bottle. Came back a couple minutes later with my food. Food is very nice -burger is big and tasty. Fries are the same. Waiter did not check how things were at all during the meal. Other tables (of 2) were brought complimentary bread and home made pate before even ordering any food. They also had their drinks served in a glass with nice. Waiter chatted to them quite happily. Once I had finished, I pushed the plate to the side to show that I was. Waiter came along. Said 'are you finished?' Then whipped the plate away. No 'how was it?' Or 'was everything ok?'. Just took it away. After20 minutes of being ignored, I decided to get up and leave. No one had offered dessert, coffee or anything else. Went to the bar to pay. As I was paying, was asked if I wanted to leave tip on card. Said no, was asked why so replied saying I was ignored the entire evening. read more

If you are into steaks, try the new steakhouse "Butcher's Prague", close to the Petrske namesti in the Prague downtown. For those of you who know this district, you might remember the traditional Hacienda Mexicana - yes, this is it. The same location and the same staff, but newly renovated and changed into a more trendy style of a restaurant pretty recently, in November 2013. The meat is good, we have tried the "Argentinian Rib Eye" at 375 Kc and the "Pork Ribs Barbecue" at 249 Kc, accompanied by the Coleslaw Salad, with two extra sauces (Blue Cheese, Barbecue, 49 Kc each). The recommended wine, the Chilean "Santa Ema Merlot Reserva, Maipo Valley 2010" was a nice uncomplicated choice and its prize 550 Kc seems to be quite reasonable. But be careful with the Prosecco Martini at 490 Kc! This is a trap, as it is super-sweet and not nice at all. The evening started out with a hitch and ended up being our favorite night of the entire Prague adventure!!! It was my husband's birthday and we wanted to go to a nice restaurant. We left our hotel located in Old Town and began our search. We stopped at countless restaurants and couldn't find anything that wasn't French or the like. We ended up in a completely different area than we were staying in and were about to give up and head back when we noticed Butcher's/Beef House in the distance. The place was busy, but seemed to have some open tables. We walked in and weren't sure if we could seat ourselves or wait to be seated. As soon as we went to seat ourselves we were stopped. As we didn't have reservations, we were told it would be about a hour wait. We didn't mind and asked if we could just wait at the bar. Many couples came in after us and they were told that they there behind us and that we already had a hour wait. No one else stayed. The bartender was SUPER busy and we felt hesitant to bother him. After a couple of drinks, we finally got the nerve to bother to ask him if we could order some appetizers while we waited...we were so hungry. He very kindly accommodated us. Being from Chicago, we had to try the Chicago style spinach dip. To our knowledge, Chicago is not known for spinach dip so we found it kind of hilarious. We also ordered the quesadillas. Both were good, but I won't lie...they were odd. The quesadillas had nacho cheese in them. I can honestly say I have never had a quesadilla with nacho cheese in it. At about the 1.5 hour mark, we asked our bartender if we could order dinner there. He was super nice about it. At this point, we started striking up small talk with him and learned his name was Peter/Piotr (sp???). In between his drink making, he would come over and chat with us. Our dinner arrived and it was just a strange as the appetizers. My Mexican style fajitas came wrapped like a burrito and again had nacho cheese inside. It wasn't bad, though...quite tasty actually. We ended up sitting and drinking with Peter/Piotr after we finished our meal. We had a blast sitting there with him. At the end of the evening as we were leaving, Peter/Piotr asked us to wait a bit longer. Another staff member came out with a camera and took our picture with Peter/Piotr in it. We were asked to wait a bit longer. A little while longer, a hard copy print of our pic came out. The pic was hilarious and is something we will treasure forever!!! I would highly suggest this place to anyone visiting Prague. The food is a bit odd to an American/Mexican, but very tasty. The service is spot on and super friendly!!! read more

Last night dinner for family of four could not have been better. Filet, Tres Major steak, Boccacini salad and a veggie pasta were all delicious. You can make an online reservation and select any available table. For parties of up to four highly recommend the booth. Everything was fresh and cooked to our liking. Lemonade with cucumber is a must have all over Prague. Ginger lemonade was strong and good! Filet was so good that we ordered one more midway. We found this place on yelp. The food was great. But the waiter said we 'have to' give tips, which we thought is the routine here given it was our first meal in this country. But actually later on we found out it is not a 'must' to give tips and we feel cheated. We feel that the service people preyed on us as we were new to this city. When a restaurant says they're open until a certain time, they shouldn't turn away customers 45 minutes before closing. If the staff and/or management wants to go home an hour early then they should simply list the restaurant as being closed an hour earlier. We got into Prague a bit late but saw that this place has decent reviews and within a mile walk from hour hotel. We hurried and walked over there thinking we had an hour to spare, hurrying past other open restaurants. We walked a mile because we thought the food might be worth it. Unfortunately the waiter said they're no longer accepting any more customers as the place will be closing in 45 minutes. It's not like the place was empty, as there were a few tables of diners still in the restaurant. The vibe that we got was that the waiter and kitchen staff just wants to close up early and go out drinking somewhere else. It's completely unacceptable in a service industry and/or a complete failure of management in screening their employees. They should just shut down if they don't care about customers or if they don't really have set hours of operation. read more

I had a Czech steak versus the imported US meat and it was more tender and juicy than what I would get stateside. To top things off, I had a glass of Chilean wine. Wow! This is no longer called Butcher's Grill. Name has changed to Beef House. Food was average. I ordered the Ribeye steak rare. It was cooked correctly. On the menu it says you can order a side dish and sauce with the steak dinner. I assumed that it came with it. So I ordered grilled vegetables and also fries. Later when the bill arrived I noticed that those items do not come with the entree. So it was a little pricey considering the food was average at best. If the steak wasn't good I would've given a 2 star rating. Veggies were grilled on a skewer which tasted like they were steamed actually. It needed more grilling time for sure to achieve that grilled taste. Fries arrived in a basket and quite soft/soggy. I didn't care for them but consumed it since I was famished. Like I said they did cook my steak correctly so no complaints there. At 195Kc per 100g it should come with side dishes like veggies and fries/potatoes. Gran Fiero is about the same price and their steaks include veggies and fries. And food there is much better. So I'll be returning there from now for steak. I just thought I'd try something different this time around in Prague. Oh well lesson learned. read more
