After traveling through Europe for almost three weeks and spending a few more days in Prague, my hubby was ready to kill somebody for a meat sandwich of any type. When he saw the sign for a pastrami sandwich in the window of Beef Bar, he nearly knocked passerby down to race inside. It was very late so this adorable little butcher shop / restaurant was no longer taking customers for seatings, but the friendly woman at the counter said she'd be happy to prepare a takeaway order for us. I really appreciated that the menu board had English translations, something that was quite rare in the Czech Republic, believe it or not. I had already gorged on a gingerbread cookie so I didn't order anything to eat here. Hubby got the pastrami sandwich to take back to the hotel. Since this is a butcher shop, the meat on display was gorgeous. The fancy pants steaks (some even originating for Uruguay) were for sale to take back home to cook yourself or, it appeared, for eating in the restaurant. The pastrami sandwich was the easy takeaway option. The sandwich looked pretty and gourmet, piled high with pastrami, pickles and mustard. It passed the tummy test and the taste test (although it didn't come close to American pastrami sandwiches). Nobody expected it to be good as something you could get at a deli in Philly or New York, but it was a nice taste of home while in Eastern Europe. read more

"Pastrami" was the keyword that widened my husband's eyes and made him want to walk in for a deli sandwich lunch. I wasn't too hungry, so I just wanted sides of a salad and hand cut chips. I did get to sample the meats and pastrami though- and it was legit as an NYC deli. We sat right next to the kitchen counter in the back and had a lovely chat with the chef about his travels and adventures in finding the meats for the restaurant. He's passionate about the meat he curates for customers and it shows in the food. If you're a vegetarian- there are actually some options for you too if you need to join some meat eating friends- but not too many options- after all, it is called Beef Bar. read more

My favorite restaurant in Prague...possibly my favorite restaurant on Earth. I've been here a lot, and I usually order the same things. Grilled Provolone - seriously so good. I even bought the necessary items to make this at home! The beef tartare is the best I've had - served traditionally with toast, raw garlic, and caper berries. Beef carpaccio - absolutely perfect. Pair with a delicious South American wine, which they offer many of by the glass! This place is perfect. read more

We walked by this place on our way home and read the menus and decided to come back the next night for dinner. It's a true modern Argentinian style steakhouse with empanadas, chimichurri, and great South American wines. We arrived close to 9:45 pm (21:45) and they were gracious enough to seat us. The steaks were excellent and if you pair it with a great Malbec, you are on the path of a wonderful dinner. It's a casual and modern well appointed place a block away from the famous Cafe Louvre, by all the hiking type stores for climbing gear. There's an upstairs area with a mustard yellow booth and downstairs has a great bar with barrels, a butcher display of the meat, and an espresso bar. Service was very friendly and it felt like a family run business, yet the design and style of the space and menu were highly professional and well appointed. Quick tips: 1. Get the ribeye with grilled corn 2. Order a Malbec 3. Get the flan - It had citrus notes On my next visit, I think I'd try the pastrami. This was a great place for our family to celebrate a birthday dinner. They will accept credit cards in the future. We had to pay cash tonight. read more

Excellent restaurant! Wine list is really interesting (wines from Argentina and Uruguay). Beef was amazing and above all: cooked as we asked! Portions are rather big so we didn't take desert. We visited this place for a late night dinner. The only good thing they served was the draft beer. The waitress took our order of appetizer beef carpaccio (+6), burger ( more like a slider, +4), pastrami (+3 at best), and a garden salad side (+4). She braught me a large salad with a steak on top of it. When I made her take it back, she was not happy that I didn't take the bait on more expensive dish instead of the side garden salad. When she brought the rest of the order she practically threw them on the table. And she brought the appetizer last, go figure. When it came time to pay, she said the credit card machine is broken and couldn't take Euro instead. I didn't have enough Kroun on me, and I asked to speak with manager. Finally the manager took €40 for a €33 meal and refused to make change even in Kroun. This place does not deserve the good ratings that it has recieved for any measure. read more

My boyfriend and I accidentally came across this restaurant while walking through the city, and it was actually quite funny how excited my boyfriend got over his food. He ordered the steak and he said it was literally cooked to perfection- one of the best steaks he's had. I got the burger which was just as good and really flavorful but overall we recommend to get the veggggieeees yum they're so tasty! Price was great considering what we got we were pleasantly surprised. read more
