The food was meh at best. Maybe it's because I went with their weekly lunch menu? My first thought was this is what over priced, pretentious food tastes like. The ambiance was quiet and had a clean upscale farmhouse vibe, which I actually liked. Service was good, attentive enough, but definitely a distant second to La Degustation (the other Michelin spot in Prague). Maybe an unfair comparison b/c I had a full on dinner at La Degustation and they were just too good in every aspect.
This was an excellent 1 star Michelin restaurant! Came with a reservation and service was fantastic. Timing of dishes were 9/10 with only 2 times it was a tad too slow or fast. Restaurant is not too big but not small either. There were plenty of waiters to keep the flow going and it was a pleasure watching them work and work hard. I will attach a few pictures (not all of them as I took too many) and not name them as it is more about the taste and senses. Each dish has unique ingredients and especially how they mix and interplay. I had the 10 dish degustation menu which I highly recommend. There were other reviews that said that all the dishes were too salty but this was not my experience. Overall, I highly recommend this experience if cost is not an issue (total with tip was about USD $270 for myself, 10 course menu, 2 glasses of wine) and you are looking for a Michelin restaurant.
The food was some of the best I've ever had. If you're a foodie who wants the experience and the flavor, this is a good place to visit. It's is a Michelin starred restaurant (one of two in Prague), so expect a high price, but you are getting what you pay for. Though I was very full when I left, if you are looking for a large hearty "meat and potatoes or pasta" type of meal, this might not be the place for you. The service was also great. Lots of explanation of the food and wines served which helped to enhance the experiences
This review is only for the front desk - Maitre D' and their reservation system. Freshly off the plane , I googled restaurants in Prague. Field and La Degastation showed up. The later is being more prestigious but we chose Field because they open an extra hour for lunch than La Degastation, which we could make. The chance to dine at a Michelin star restaurant without a reservation might be slim. But Cafe China New York seats you no master what, for example. And it was a little pasted lunch time. We might have a good chance. Worst of all, we can just have a drink there. So we went. The deco is simple. Window decor is silly. The noise level is low, or might be they're listening to our conversation. There are empty tables. The smiling Maitre D' asked for reservation upon seeing us. "Oh we don't have." Oh I can't seat you. We're fully booked. "How about other time?" She looked at her book briefly, "we're fully booked tomorrow and Sunday." Note: I didn't give her a time frame. She went on to say "can't put you on the waiting list because it's already so long." "Can we sit at the bar have a drink?" "No you can't." "That's fully booked too?" I asked. The bar is totally empty. For some reason, I thought about another New York restaurant Da Dong, which made its name in Beijing and elsewhere in China for serving decent Beijing Ducks. They opened to a much anticipation but folded within a year or two. I wrote a long review ... It was three months out for reservation but when I went, the entire 2nd floor had only two tables with total four dinners that included us. Their bars were always first come first serve, and lively. ... Ultimately, the meal we've at a peasant eatery Lokal literally one step away from La Degastation, two blocks away was satisfying. Ultimately, this sour grape made a reservation easily at La Degustation for Sunday without any effort. Ultimately, we've a great lunch at La Degustation that Sunday - check out my review there. ... Ultimately ... we also dined at Mikla @ Istanbul, watching the sunset and savoring a great meal with wonderful wines - as walk ins. La Degastation said 70% costumers are foreigners - my gut feeling: the % is higher. Thanks Field for the experience!
Michelin Star Review Overall Score 4.0 out of 5 I got the 10-course menu with the caviar. Over everything was good but nothing blew my socks off. The last 3 things they served was a bunch a sweats which I literally declined the last one. Just for $300.00 i would've expected more flavor. This is a wow meal and well worth the price. Food, wine and service all impeccable. Right up there with top restaurants in NY.
In this one Michelin star restaurant we have the 6 course menu and the food was amazing. The playing was great,the taste was even better however nothing beats the service there. The waiter that we had was so kind funny and honest. The atmosphere was chatty but not loud. In all this was a great experience and I would recommend.

THE FIELD Ceiling Art: Czech Artist Matushka portrays a Garden from Life to Death. Amuse Bouche: (!) Crispy Cod! 1. (!) Trout, Cabbage, Gooseberry, Caviar (made exclusively for Field) ! 2. (!) Strawberry, Basil, Yogurt ! 4. Fois Gras, Plum, Tamari, Hazelnut - This was best spread on the Brioche. 6. (!) Main: Veal, Gran Moravia, Morel Mushroom, Lettuce (*) (!) Palate Cleanser with Apple and Grenita (Apple, Pear, Curd, Chamomile) 7. (!) Dessert Main with Wine Pairing! I had the Sous Chef when I went and he was excellent! My server, Milan, was great too!
It's absolutely amazing place, very creative chefs, great ambience and very attentive stuff. The food is also great! We loved ever bite of it!
My first 1 start Michelin. We reserved this place in advanced and tried their tasting menu. Some food were delicious and some are interesting. Presentation of the food hit the spot.
I have no words; I was blown away, not just by the food, but the attention to detail, atmosphere, and pleasant staff. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a good portion of the meal, so at times I felt as though I was being watched as I ate, drank, and spoke. The food was brought out a little too quickly for my taste; we hadn't even tasted all of the spreads for the bread before our appetizers were carried out. But, the food was more than excellent. The meal started out with a glass of Prosecco, followed by freshly baked bread. Each dish was presented gracefully. The pikeperch appetizer played with taste and texture, offering a sweet and slightly sour taste which complimented the cool, smooth texture of the fish. The guinea fowl was cooked to perfection, resting in a light, flavorful sauce accompanied by a silky eggplant purée topped with mushrooms. The dessert was the perfect balance of sweetness; the cheese was mild and worked beautifully with the ice cream. I couldn't have chosen a better restaurant and am already hungry for more.
Went to Field this past weekend with one person. We were visiting Prague and had heard amazing things about this restaurant. I was very excited to try it out. The restaurant is very beautiful, with high ceilings, light wood, and a very open and airy environment. There were interesting design features around the restaurant, including an axe hanging in the window and somewhat surrealist depictions of nature projected onto the ceiling. The service was excellent. Our servers were incredibly attentive, polite, and had ample suggestions. The restaurant offers a tasting with alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairings, which I thought was really interesting. Because we both do not eat red meat or poultry, we opted for a la carte. The meal started off with three separate amuse bouches, which was unexpected and very wonderful. I tried the following dishes: Amuse bouche 1 (pastry crust with goat cheese, carrot gel, pickled spring vegetable served with a shot of anise, celery, and plum) (4/5): Absolutely wonderful. The pastry crust was thick but not tough or stale, and the carrot gel added a little sweetness to the overall savory flavor of the dish. Amuse bouche 2 (trout with caviar and dill) (4.5/5): Came in a pastry dough cone. Very good, fresh trout with caviar on top. The caviar was very light, not too salty, and the trout was excellent. Amuse bouche 3 (tofu butter with a cherry glaze) (3.5/5): My least favorite of all of the dishes, but still good. The tofu was very creamy, in a paste-like consistency, and surrounded by a sweet and light cherry jelly. Homemade cheese, radish, hazelnut, ash (4/5): Amazing. The presentation was so interesting, as they poured hazelnut essence combined with dried ice over the dish (see picture). The cheese was very fresh and had a delicate flavor that paired well with the hazelnut. Snail, caviar, leek, truffle (paired with cabbage, parsley non-alcoholic drink) (5/5): This dish was absolutely perfect. The snails were cooked perfectly, not tough at all, and had a wonderful savory flavor. The drink enhanced all of the flavors of the dish so well. I loved this dish. Potato, curd, egg yolk, radish (paired with celery, dill, fennel, hazelnut non-alcoholic drink) (5/5): Another winner. The potato was soft, very umami, and its flavor was very well-enhanced by the drink. Pike-perch, cod tongue, savoy cabbage, broccoli (4/5): The pike-perch was soft and buttery, very minimally cooked. The cod tongue added a salty and chewy aspect to the dish. The cabbage and broccoli were overlaid with a creamy sauce and mixed well with the fish. Aubergine ravioli (4.5/5): A special option for vegetarians / non-meat eaters. The ravioli was fresh, cooked very well, and was accompanied by a dill sauce and garlic. This was very tasty. Rhubarb, sheep cheese, fennel (5/5): For dessert, rhubarb sorbet with cheese. This was a truly amazing dessert that I would love to have again. My experience at Field was amazing: food was excellent, service was excellent, and environment was beautiful. I would absolutely, 100% return again on my next trip to Prague.
I'm a regular at Michelin star restaurants, so I had to try one in Prague. It's a very posh restaurant so the whole setup is classy. Be aware that this is a Michelin star restaurant and it's fine dining, so reservations are a must. Don't expect to just walk in. And to experience the food, I always order the full tasting menu. Any shortened version is just not enough, in my opinion. In addition to the full degustation menu, we also ordered a full non-alcoholic pairing. Every dish was like a work of art. It's hard to pick just one dish. However, the best was probably the deer. One of the chefs even prepares it in front of you. read more

I've never been to a Michelin star restaurant, as I really have limited interest in food and rarely drink alcohol. I truly could live happily on toast, boiled potatoes, fruit, and Diet Coke. I'm also both a vegetarian and someone with a fairly limited palate, so I didn't think Field would be a hit for me. WOW was this an amazing experience! First: gorgeous space. Comfy tables, set far enough apart so we didn't feel crowded, and it didn't get loud. Beautiful artwork on the ceiling. Bright. Cheery. We loved it. We are visiting our son who lives a few hours south of Prague. My husband and son are fabulously adventurous eaters and they gifted me with this outing to Field, a Friday lunch reservation at 1:30 pm. Lunch seems the perfect time to come as the restaurant was not totally booked and we had so much attention from staff, including the front desk, wait staff, sommelier, and bartender. But I'm guessing dinner would be a blast, too. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Our lead waitress was Michaela, and she was the most polished and professional server I've ever met!! We felt so well cared for. In our 3 person party we had me: a vegetarian, and our son who has severe food allergies, to peanuts, pine nuts, and most nuts. 2 of the 3 don't drink any alcohol. Amazingly, it was not a problem at all. In fact, they were prepared!! There was a vegetarian prix fixe menu, with both a large and a smaller option, plus we could order the 'non-alcoholic' version of the wine pairings. So we did. My son had phoned ahead to inform them about his food allergies, and Michaela and the bartender confirmed them when we were seated. The staff was so welcoming and completely knowledgeable about ingredients. They did a fantastic job keeping my son safe, like bringing out his dessert first so it would come close to the 5 other pastries that included nuts. The bartender made him a special cocktail that was hazelnut-free. The 'pesto' was made with pumpkin seeds instead of pine nuts. The staff told us the ingredients of every single dish and cocktail!! And literally showed us! Our waitress brought over a tray that included things like snails, crawfish, and artichokes, and then she told us where they'd sourced them in Czechia! Except the crawfish, as we learned they are a protected animal in Czechia, so they are brought in from Germany. We loved that part, hearing where all of these beautiful ingredients came from. I'll include a few photos from both my vegetarian and their regular prix fixe adventures. The pea soup was my favorite! My son said the deer main dish was the 'best thing I've ever eaten, in my entire life'. I didn't take photos of the non-alcoholic cocktails, but those were lovely. Good to great. Food came quick, almost a tad too quick. Service was attentive. The wine pairing worked well with the courses - I chose pairing B and it worked fine. If there is another chance will try with pairing A to see if it's worth the jump. The dishes are unique and memorable. Beautiful decor, interesting farm to table theme with garden equipment tastefully displayed in windows and on walls. Ceiling is lit up in whimsical designs. The food was very different from what we are accustomed to (not used to having veal or rabbit for example) but each dish was well crafted with deep complimentary flavors and meticulous design. The staff were attentive and friendly. Very unique experience for not a lot of $ (by New York standards). This meal was the highlight of our short time in Prague, highly recommended! read more

Had the most impeccable meal here. We didn't have time to try the tasting menu, but we ordered a la carte and still had an amazing time. This place is definitely a forward thinking and every dish looked so beautiful and inventive. For those ordering a la carte, they recommend one dish from each of the four menu sections, so it ends up kind of being a DIY tasting. We started off with delicious bread served with a literal palette of dips and toppings, like smoked butter and herb salt. Then came not just one but three amuse bouches! Each had the most unique flavor and presentation, mixing sweet and savory, as well as textures. There was a corn tart, a crawfish tart, and foie gras in the shape of a pebble. For my cold dish I ordered their goose liver pate and it was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was served in a jar made up like a terrarium, alongside a soda and the butteriest brioche! My warm dish had trout, rabbit, and tomato. If you like those flavors and textures I'd highly recommend it. The trout was extremely tender and paired well with the tomato. Onto the main dish. I ordered the pigeon which had both breast and sausage, topped with a thin slice of lardo. Beautiful presentation again and perfectly tender. It was also a pretty good portion size for me. Finally we finished with dessert. We ordered one of each dessert and again they didn't disappoint. The most inventive had artichoke and truffle, but each dessert was beautiful and tasty. Our server was also really great. She was funny and made recommendations when we needed them. Plus despite the one Michelin star they have, we never felt like the servers were rude or standoffish. It was a really pleasant experience and we were one of the last patrons for the night. Would definitely revisit in the future! read more

Hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in Prague and I made this reservation a couple of months ahead. Field is a 1 Michelin star restaurant and I believe that this one star is awarded purely for their food, because the service was very mechanical and things were moving too fast. Also I asked one of the servers to write down some details of their #amusebouche for me, and she said she's busy and she'll do it later but then she never did. Even though service was mechanical, it was efficient enough and far better than many Czech establishments. What we ate: They had excellent bread service! Amuse bouche: razor clam & nettle, mayonnaise from fermented lentils. Razor clam was tempura battered and fried to perfection! Amuse bouche: Two morsels of "Duck cherry" sit atop warm pebble stones. These delicious morsels are made of duck foie. Course 1: Crayfish with nettle, pepper, and sour cream. Crayfish was sweet and firm as it should be. Course 2: Pattypan squash, modrenín, pear, leaven. Course 3: Squid, duck livers, spruce, hemp seeds. Course 4: Lamb, mushroom, pine, blackberry. The lamb dish came out and they poured water to activate the dry ice. This activated the pine smell and the aroma invoked the smell of Christmas! Course 5: Heifer, kohlrabi, shallot, mustard. The most tender morsel of meat! Btowh in a "tea bag" was brewing at the table for a while then poured into the dish when served. Course 6: "Picnic box" had drawers containing ravelin, horsky cheese, mulberry, redcurrant liquor. Came with cute little wooden utensils and pretzel bread sticks! Course 7: Forest honey, bergamot, ginger, birchwater. Bite sized dessert was perfect after all the food! Field Restaurant is a modern European restaurant using local Czech ingredients and serving Czech inspired cuisine. They have several different prefixed tasting menus, with various tiered wine pairings, and a juice pairing. Service is at a 1-star level. The price point is high for a 1-star, but I felt the courses were tasty and highly decorative, ingredient quality seemed high, and the experience was at times theatrical; so the price is possibly justified. All in all a very enjoyable experience. Highlights: A large assortment of bread and spread "Crawfish" langos with crystal sugar - "surprised" unscripted appetizer. Great sweet texture with a mix of savory crawfish, fried dough, and sourcream Trout + Rabbit - Peasant's surf and turf. Do not miss this meal. Amazing restaurant. High end in Prague but still affordable. Coming from New York City, Field blows any restaurant there away. The service is amazing, but the food is even better. The menu changes which is really fun but all amazing. Make a reservation and have this be your one nice meal in Prague. We had before coming to Prague read great reviews and recommendations for this place, and we was definitely satisfied! The restaurant has 1 star in the Michelin guide in 2017 which is in our opinion well deserved! We had the 11 course tasting menu which is a wonderful tasting adventure! read more

Absolutely excellent. Likely my favorite restaurant out of the many we tried on our European excursion. We came here after driving from Munich and dropping our things at our Airbnb nearby. We weren't quite sure of what to expect from our first meal in Prague, but this was certainly one of the more delicious experiences in life. First off, I have to say, Field's bread game is unbelievable. The assortment was great, the textures were great, and the variety of spreads was on point. It's crazy that something as simple as bread can lift your mood, but it really set a nice tone to the meal. We decided to forgo the prix fixe and go a la carte, which I would highly recommend. You might get less courses, but you can order from each of the different sections and still spend less than the 2600 CZK for the prix fixe. I got the goose liver with cherry and pistachio, and this was absolutely amazing. It came in a spherical half-glass, which was pretty cool to begin with, and the flavors were unreal, and exceptionally balanced. I could have eaten spheres and spheres of that stuff. Hoo-wee. I got the rabbit with mustard, turnip, and beans as my entree, and the rabbit really went well with everything on the plate, and the flavors were just very simple and balanced. We finished off with two desserts, the pear and the nougat, after the waiter unknowingly served us the incorrect dish, but it was fine because he quickly brought out the second one, and we thoroughly enjoyed both. Service was very attentive and friendly, and we got some really great recommendations. Our server didn't speak the best English, but he had a very cheerful attitude, which really helped overcome the language barrier. Prices are definitely on the expensive side for Prague in general, but in the realm of fine dining in the city, this was actually one of the cheapest nice meals we had, at about 1300 CZK (~$50USD) per person, which included drinks and gratuity. Must-visit if you're in Prague. The focus on simple, yet modern presentation and flavors was something I really enjoyed, and will definitely come back on my next trip to Prague. read more

Oh my god. I literally cannot say enough about this place. It is an absolute MUST TRY. This is the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life. So creative, so inventive, so unique! I've never had anything like it and I don't think I ever will again (unfortunately). Every dish outdid the last. I was constantly surprised by what they came up with. We did the 12 course tasting menu. My boyfriend did the wine pairing and I did the non-alcoholic juice pairing. Definitely recommend the non-alcoholic pairing! It was so fun trying all the different flavors and sampling everything. It was a LOT to eat and drink, so you will not leave hungry. But, just indulge! That's what you're here for, right? The service was phenomenal. The waiters were so attentive and friendly. We joked with them and had a great time. The food was stunningly gorgeous, but everything tasted amazing! It's been months since we went and I can STILL taste all the courses in my head. I can't even do that with something I ate yesterday! That's how much of an impact this meal had on me. RECOMMENDED: Only One Star? Tasting Menu: CZK 2800 (~U$115) pp + 10% Requested Tip Friday Dinner Reservations recommended In summary, I think this place is underrated. There were some elements to the food and service which I saw to be more consistent with three star restaurants I've visited (The Fat Duck in the UK and Le Bernardin in NYC.) I find Michelin's One Star category to be very broad and at the very least, I feel like Field is on the higher end of the One Star category. While Field's philosophy of maintaining its raw, non-beautified form probably prohibits molecular gastronomy, there were many elements of the food preparation which would give it's higher rated peers a run for their money. My wife recommended Field as it had excellent reviews and achieved One Michelin star. Due to the price point of the restaurant, the clientele was generally older and composed of true diners and gourmands (no rookie foodies). However, the atmosphere was still very casual with a mix of suits and more casually dressed visitors. The walls are adorned with farming knick knacks planted in the windows and on the walls. I found the staff to be very polite and precise. Wine pairings with the tasting menu had option A for CZK 1500 or option B for CZK 4500. We opted for a bottle of Czech wine for CZK ~1000 which was consistent with their other wine menu offerings. To avoid spoilers (and an endless review) I will say that each course was expertly presented. The flavours and presentation allow me to comfortably categorize the meal more of an experience than just "getting dinner". Yes, each individual entree in the tasting menu was small, but between those items and items the restaurant provided "gratis", it was an incredibly filling meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant as it is certainly "worth a detour". read more

On our honeymoon 5 days in w 7 to go and this has been our best meal by far! Came to Prague and looked up Michelin star restaurants and was impressed on the a la Carte option. Showed up on a Wednesday at 2pm knowing they close at 230 to set a dinner reservation for that evening or the next. Unfortunately they were all booked up through the week for dinner, but the host offered to take us in for lunch on the spot even though they were closing! Servers were friendly and informative, made great recommendations, and the place was a very nice clean space. The food? Not just aesthetically pleasing but made my palate dance w delight! Btw it was super reasonably priced in comparison to the crap you might eat around the tourist traps for almost the same money! Go here if your in Prague! read more

I have to say, I went with a very very high expectation of this restaurant and it totally disappointed me. While their concept is interesting, they harvest and use only local produce and meats the flavor of the food is extremely salty and with too much sauces in their dishes, so you cannot really distinguish the taste of the food. We did it with s wine paring, but even with the pairing the taste was just not up to par with the food. Don't just base your selection because of the reviews. I really couldn't give this restaurant a 4 or 5 star. The picture of the quail dish in my review, while a great presentation, it lacked in taste and exceeded in salt flavor. Reason for a 3 is they do try very hard in presentation. Very small restaurant, so make sure you have a reservation or you will be sent away, as I observed it to be done to a few who requested a table without one. read more
