This restaurant was a true foodie experience. You just show up, sit back and be served 8 amazing courses (and several surprise additions) on their unique and ever changing menu. It is the only Bohemian cuisine Michelin starred restaurant in the Czech republic. The service was sublime making sure you always had a pristine environment for every course with knives, forks and spoons anytime the course changes. They were there when needed and gone when not. I thought every course was a unique flavor combination with complicated and intense flavors. This is definitely a special occasion restaurant but would absolutely be on my must visit when going to Prague. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. The wine pairing was a standout--not just for the quality of the wines, but for the incredible storytelling by the server. He shared the origins of each wine and set clear expectations, which really elevated the experience. The ambiance was crisp and modern, and the service was top-notch. Servers were attentive, always making sure our water glasses were full and the table spotless. One thing to note: when you get the bill, there's no option to leave a tip--even though it states that service is not included. The staff won't prompt you about it either. What a great experience!!! This place has one Michelin star and I wonder what they would need to do to get 2 or 3?!? The atmosphere is comfortable and elegant with our table having a nice view of the open kitchen. Service was impeccable. The waiters were friendly and informative and the sommelier was as well. Not snooty or pretentious. But the food was the star!! We had the tasting menu with a couple of glasses of wine chosen for us by the excellent sommelier. Every course was delicious!! Amazing experience at la degustation last night! The tasting menu is served with seasonal, high quality and nicely executed food! We opted out of wine to stay focused on the food. It worked really well. We were able to taste all the ingredients and all the them work together so well like a very well orchestrated symphony. I really like how authentic the restaurant is - having been to many multi Michelin stared restaurants where food sometime was overcomplicated - I appreciate the concept at La Degustation! Attentive yet no over bearing service is another plus. The restaurant is modernly designed with an open kitchen in case you'd like to observe how your food is made. I had never been to a Michelin star dinner before and thought my trip to Prague would be the perfect opportunity. I booked a table for two and was so excited to see that the restaurant was only two blocks from my Airbnb. We arrived just before our reservation and were seated right away at a table closest to the kitchen. My friend knew how excited I was for this dinner so she made sure that I had the open kitchen view. Seeing the process turned out to be such an amazing part of the experience. Watching the team effortlessly and also meticulously plate every dish was such a sight. The timing was impeccable and it felt like watching an episode of The Bear but without any of the chaos. I couldn't prepare a meal for myself at my house that quitely nevermind a restaurant full of eager diners. We each ordered a cocktail when we sat down to take in the ambiance and relax a bit. The decor is simply but elegant and I loved the glass chandelier which is made to look like bones of the proteins they work with. We're not huge on wine so we were going to just get a bottle for dinner, but at the last minute we decided to do the wine pairing and I'm so glad we did. If you're on the fence about this part, I have to say that it was the only time I've had a coursed pairing where I felt like the wine truly complimented each dish. It really opened up my perspective to pairings that are really done well. They also offer a juice pairing as a non-alcoholic option and they sounded so good I would love to have tried them as well. The dinner is five courses, but there are some amuse bouche and some bonus dessert bites so it feels like more. Either way, you won't be hungry afterwards. Every dish shined in it's own way but one that really stood out for uniqueness was labeled simply fish, tomato, ham... I was definitely curious. They glazed the fish with ham juice giving it this unique savory flavor you don't expect from fish, but it was amazing. I won't go into the rest of the dishes, because that's part of the experience is finding out when you ge there, but in Prague fashion, it's a meat heavy menu. As for the service, the entire team was so thoughtful. Their precision and attention to detail really made for a wonderful night at the restaurant. Any question I asked was answered in thoughtful detail and you could tell there was a sense of pride in the product the team was putting out. While this was a pricey dinner, it would have cost double in the states most likely. If you're visiting Prague and want to have an over the top meal while in town, I highly recommend La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise. read more

A Michelin Star no question about it- This restaurant is located in a historical building, few blocks from the old town at the heart of Prague. The dining room is stylish, not too spacious, but the tables are not on top of each other in a quiet environment in whip the open kitchen is the main thing. Our tasting option was fantastic and allow us to experience over 10 Czech dishes. They have food and wine pairing which we declined, but the list of wines offers excellent options. The reservation process was somewhat difficult but it was an worth it. It was an incredible opportunity to dine at La Degustation. The staff was very gracious and the service was impeccable. Restaurant was on a medium size but not too big. There was a bunch of waiters / waitresses which helped keep the flow moving. The most beautiful part was the open preparation area of the kitchen which allowed me to watch them work. I will attach pictures and not name them as it is more about the taste and senses. Each dish has unique ingredients that worked together. Will return. When I googled Michelin star restaurants in Prague, this one and Field showed up. They close for lunch earlier than Field, which why we went to Field first; ... I left review for my bad experience at Field two days ago. I enjoyed their simply and elegant decor, the friendly staff, the food and the ease to make a reservation. They do 30 lunches and 50 dinners daily, walk ins are fine as long as a space is available. Today there are two walk ins. Visitors accounts 70% of their customers and today English was the language. Two tables round us are Americans. We're 35 minutes early but they seat us anyway. Our table is by the kitchen, and I get to watch them in action. One staff brings a low stool for backpacks or large handbag, placing it under the table. More serving staff than necessary. I didn't see the excessiveness in New York. Bathroom uses hand towels; lotion is provided. But the door could use the switch to show if it's being occupied? As with many similar restaurants, each table needs to have either tasting menu or regular. We opt regular. And the food is plentiful. One thing I picked up is, the chef (I assumed) uses a little alcohol spray to clean the plates / bowls before he puts anything into it, making sure no dishwasher residue. Years ago, at 11 Madison, a New York CFO commented that running a restaurant smoothly "isn't easy". I think I've a better understanding today , and a bit of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times - assembly line. The open kitchen we see, cooks little - either they done all cooking prior or they've a secondary kitchen that does real cooking. The food ... all are delicious... In the end, they offered us sweet surprise, which is better than the dessert that came with the regular menu. The only complain is, they should use a light color interior bowl to serve, showing off their dessert creation. read more

We decided to finish our last night in Prague with a Michelin Star. I've been lucky to dine at many a fine restaurant with 1,2, and 3 Michelin stars, as well as many others worthy of such accolades. La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise has something, I've never had before....a juice pairing. Sure I've seen non alcoholic beverage pairings before, but this is different. The care and detail put into crafting each juice to go along with each dish. Listed as a simple word on the menu below each course, but far from it.... I was curious, and my curiosity paid off ten fold. Wine you can get anywhere....but the time and trouble they were going through to create just the right beverage with each course, I couldn't help think that all other restaurants, I've eaten at....are lazy. Why have we not thought of this before? Sure you think about how a specific wine will balance each course, but better yet...create what you are looking for. Elderflower juice with the Green Peas, Broccoli, and Mint. Sweet botanical and refreshing, it was a pleasure to go back and forth. Tomato juice with the Trout, Tomato, and Radish. This seems obvious but it was my first insight that something special is happening here. The Tomato juice was clear, not red and not thick. It was like a broth with intense flavor but refined as not to get in the way of the dish. I had to ask how this was accomplished, and it sounded like mad science behind it. Steam and an espresso like drip perhaps. Whatever the technique, it was clear, the attention to detail was beyond just the simple idea of pairing juice to each course. Pear juice with Chicken, Bell Peppers, Strawberries, Pasta, was another flavor that would have been lost if added to the dish. But as a sip here and there, reset the palate between bites. Onion juice to go with Beef, Egg, Onion, Mustard. This was the most controversial at the table, but I loved it. It added a bold flavor that would have overpowered the rare beef. The Grape Soda with Cream, Apricot, Rhubarb was fun. It was aerated into our glasses at the table and almost tickled the nose as you sipped it in between bites of your dessert. I never thought I would write a review of an excellent meal that would focus more on beverage pairing, but La Degustation is doing something very different in the culinary world. These aren't beverages, but extensions of the dish that go far beyond where wine can go. If you don't order the juice pairing here, you are really missing a memorable experience. read more

Phenomenal meal and service. Arrived to the restaurant on quite a cold day and was immediately greeted by staff ready to take our coats. We were brought a delicious set of vegetables and dipping sauce as a pre-starter and each given a glass of champagne. One of our guests can't drink champagne, so the sommelier was brought over to help her choose a wine to pair. We chose the 5-course meal with the wine pairings and absolutely loved every course. Beautiful plating all around and delicious flavors. The sauces were my favorite--they really made each dish impeccable. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Prague. Worthy of the star. Food is on par with some of the best started experiences we have had. I agree with several reviewers that they shine with food, service and atmosphere... And the wind pairing just isn't as great. Their menu is truly art - the selections made for each course and combinations within each course like the cucumber foam on the first course with tomato. It felt little summer and tasted like heaven. You can tell the difference between true artistry and restaurants that just put truffle oil into everything to make it seem fancy. Every course flowed appropriately into the next with flavors that honestly had me avoiding my wine because I wanted to continue to savor what i had just eaten. The juice pairing is incredible and highly recommend it. Do not come hungry, the portions are perfect for a lighter dinner. You will leave ready to have more fun in the evening.. I was super excited for this place since it had a Michelin Star and had traditional Czech food and local ingredients. The celery root dish and the chicken were stand outs. The carrot soup and pork neck were also pretty good, along with the dessert. They had another plate of desserts, but the sorbet was the best. Ambience is good and we like the calm demeanor of the kitchen and staff. Service was pretty good for Czech standards. Minus one star for charging for still water - really? I know everyone charges but this type of place should not charge 150 kr ($7.50) per bottle of water. That was tacky and also they ask whether you want a welcome drink but that's not included. Also minus a star for the crappy wine pairing that we changed to juice in the middle. On top of that, cherry juice was especially potent as it is known to give diarrhea and stomach pains. I would skip the cherry juice. This is something that you want to try once if you're in Prague. Make sure to get reservations (email is on the website). read more

Wow- what an experience I had last night! My mouth had a new adventure of flavor flowing through it with each and every bite. If you would like a once in a lifetime meal (or perhaps more if you have all the moneys), then you have come to the right place. My husband and I dined here yesterday, and it usually takes me a while to review, but I can't stop thinking about it; I need to document my food feelings immediately. The flavors went from salty to savory to sweet through out the 8 courses we had. What came prior to our first course was some of my favorite parts of the meal. We started with a broth shot, which really sets the tone for the flavor trip you're about to embark on. I wanted a cocktail to begin with. They only have a few, but as soon as she said "cucumber martini", I said yes and didn't regret it; the martini was not too sweet or dry. I cannot eat pork or seafood, so two of my courses were close replicas of what my husband had. Same sauces when applicable, and equally as delicious, even with vegetables. Of course the servers were meticulous with their descriptions, assuring me of the ingredients with each plate. Some of my most memorable delectables were: - beef tartar: I've had a lot of tartar, and my favorite was one I ordered in Quebec. Sorry Quebec, Prague tartar has surpassed you. The crostini surrounding the tartar blended perfectly with the textures of the beef. I literally can't stop thinking about my first bite of it- and the second! - fermented potato pita: I'm a starch girl, what can I say. I need this starch in my life forever. The warmth of the pita mixing with the salty flavors were unforgettable. - deer: the cranberry dusting was just perfect. The deer was perfectly cooked and the flavors really rounded out the meal as a final main dish. I'm considered by everyone I know to be a very picky eater. I do not prefer mushrooms or onions, but can tolerate them, so I didn't list them as ingredients to avoid. After our delicious starters, I dove right into both a mushroom pasta dish and an onion rabbit dish, never looking back. Apparently I just had a very refined tasted for those veggies, because these dishes were also amazing. And the dessert? It was a blueberry and creamy yogurt dish, with some sort of sweet, thin sheeted blueberry crostini. You could feel the dissolving sugar crystals on your tongue with every bite. Better than pop rocks, that's for sure. And the service- it deserves 5 stars itself. Each time my glass was half empty, they asked if I'd like more. And if we were getting close to finishing our bottle, we were asked if we would like to purchase another. As soon as I stood up for the restroom, the staff guided me politely to the correct door. And the restroom itself? Gorgeous. We had a 9pm dinner, and were sat next to the kitchen, so I couldn't have had a more lovely view of the plating. It was amazing to see their meticulous dedication to the plating process, and once the night was complete, we got to watch as the staff did their nightly recap. The chefs came together to recap the service, and getting to thank them all as we left was a highlight of my day. Lastly, the decor of the restaurant mirrors the thought put into every dish. The custom tiles and wood flooring were absolutely stunning, and they carried the thematic onto the windows and menus. The chandeliers beg for your attention as well, with their glass bone theme extending to the doorway as well. I will only address the price since some other reviewers are not custom to fine dining experience pricing. After a 20% tip (more than custom for the country, yes), the meal was about $400. We had 3 bottles of sparkling water, a cocktail, glass of wine, and a whiskey neat, plus two meals. We will never, ever, ever be able to replicate even one of the things I tasted in the meal- nor find another chef who can- making it a unique experience to Prague and my memory book. If you're going to set aside budget for a meal, do it for La Degustation. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was hands down the most exciting dining experience I've ever had. It was everything I thought it'd be... plus more. I've been drooling over their menu, and anticipating our reservation for months, and it's worth the wait and every dollar, trust me. From the presentation, service and ambiance- La Degustation is nothing but flawless. The chef even came to our table to discuss every detail with a few of the courses, and it made the experience more special. You really savor each bite rather than dig in and forget. If you want large dishes, and typical czechia prices- this is not your place. If you want to have a dining experience with Czech's finest, and most respected local ingredients than take the plunge, and reserve your seat in advance. The venison with juniper berries, and duck plate were my favorite, and they even added some local, fresh berries and cream and another plate that was not on the menu which was appreciated. Everything, and I mean everything from beginning to end was near perfect. This is why it's a 3 Michelin star restaurant. We went with the 11 course tasting menu, of course with the wine pairing. Each dish was carefully thought out and it definitely showed. What was the most amazing was the wine pairing. The wine pairing really stole the show and really enhanced every single dish. I was even more amazed by the wine pairings for every dish. With 11 courses and 11 pairings, you will be pretty full by the end and perhaps a little buzzed with the generous pours. My wife suggested this is Pragues version of the French Laundry. The analogy pertained to the price, number of courses (8 plus "snacks") and richness of food. However, she gave the experience a 3 star rating due to some of the textures of the dishes. I think it ranks 4 stars for following reasons: The chefs created many of the dishes using traditional Czech ingredients but reimagined them into dishes that used the latest techniques. Some of the chances were hits, (sous vide chicken with truffles, rabbit and dumplings) and some were misses (beet root, tongue). We made a reservation here before our flight and were very excited to try out this Michelin starred establishment. During our first visit, we made a subsequent reservation for two nights later - that's how good it was. The service both nights was impeccable - attentive yet not annoying, knowledgeable yet not oppressive. We mentioned a Czech wine we knew and liked at home, and one of our servers presented us with half a bottle from the same vineyard with a nice explanation. The space is quiet and immaculate, clean and minimalist but not cold. The food? 5 perfectly timed and sized portions of exquisitely plated gems. To start, an amuse-bouche of beef tartare and potato crisps. The pork-fat poached catfish was a highlight. The local cheese covered in shaved black Perigord truffle and truffle mayonnaise was a delight. The fallow deer was cooked to a perfect medium and melted in the mouth. We did the wine pairing both nights and highly recommend it as the staff loves to talk about their wine and answer any questions. 10/10 will do again when next in Prague. read more

Wow wow wow!!!!! Absolutely worthy of its Michelin Star. The ambiance, the service, the food, the attention to detail, the wines, every single element related to this restaurant is a solid 5 gold stars! PRE-VISIT: We made a reservation just days before our arrival to Prague (and we were lucky to be able to get a table). Over email they asked us if we had any food allergies or preferences. Both my husband and I are pescatarian (mostly vegetarian), so we mentioned this. AMBAINCE When we arrived at LDBB it was like love at first sight. The L-shaped restaurant was modern, chic, but also classy with dim lighting and clean design. All the tables were full of diners. Our table was the best seat in the house - facing the open, pristine and clean kitchen where the chefs worked in unison like a choreographed dance, and with the precision of surgeons performing a surgery. Our menus were given to us in sealed envelopes, it felt like we were opening a gift. The seal on the envelope matched the glass design on their windows, as well as the graphics on the back of the menu, a folded up crisp piece of paper with two degustation options: a 6 course meal and a 9 course meal. My husband and I don't eat that much in general, and last time we had a 9 course meal (at Fiskmarkadurinn in Reykjavic, Iceland) we were unable to get through it, so we chose the 6 course. Our server knew (from our reservation) that we were pescatarian so they had adapted the menu for us. We did opt for the Wine pairing - which I highly recommend and is absolutely worth the splurge. FOOD AND WINE: The six courses ended up being more like a nine course anyway; since the kitchen spoils you with delectable pre-appetizers. We started with a sampling of clean crisp vegetables and a homemade whipped hollandaise sauce, followed by pickled carrots inside two crispy parmesan crackers. This was followed by homemade bread, and only then, did our six course journey begin. Before each dish arrive, the overly friendly, funny, and completely un-pretentious sommelier came to our table to share a new wine. He would explain the qualities of the wine, the region it was from (all Czech wines), and a bit of the history of the wine/wine makers. Shortly thereafter, as if on cue in a perfectly timed theatrical production, our dish would arrive that was to be paired with each wine. Our dishes were: 1) a tomato salad with mustard ice-cream, 2) crispy cauliflower (with an amazing green sauce), 3) a smoked catfish soup (my favorite dish of the evening reminiscent of Japanese bonito flakes), 4) a home made wild mushroom pasta (that rivaled some of the best Italian pastas), 5) a main fish dish (the fish was lightly seared).....but before the 6th dish (dessert), we were given small chewable honeycombs as a palette cleanser, followed by dish number 6) an ice-cream and berry dessert, and followed by a piece of marshmallow (not vegetarian), which we followed with a coffee. Every dish had a special wine, every wine complimented the flavor elements of each dish. The whole meal was like a perfectly balanced performance. The dishes, though seemingly simple, played with textures (soft, gelatinous, crunch, solid, crispy, crackling), with flavors (mixing, sweet, sour, salt.....) but my favorite play of all, was their play on temperature -- which was the special surprise in each dish. For example the cold mustard ice-cream over the warm tomato salad; or the warm sweet smoked cat-fish soup -- all these were full of surprises in flavors and textures composed in truly innovative ways that I had never experienced before. SERVICE: The servers -- though one of the best restaurants in Prague -- were not stuck up or pretentious, everyone was super down-to earth and just seemed to really enjoy sharing this experiential experience with their diners. The flavors complimented each other similar to a story and each dish after the other flowed beautifully until the end of meal. Expect to spend $165 per person as of 9/26/17. The menu changes often based on the availability of seasonal ingredients so your experience will be different than mine but undoubtedly just as amazing. Also, the service is flawless. I had the 6-course tasting menu. It was nice to sit by the kitchen to watch how the team of chefs prepared my food. My favorite course was the pork belly wrapped in crunchy chicken skin... definitely one of the most memorable mouthgasms in my life! I hope they still have it on the menu cos it's an overdue review. I just found out it's a Michelin star restaurant. Oh yeah, they definitely deserved it! The meal wasn't cheap but the price was definitely on the lower side compared to the rest of the 3 Michelin star restaurants in my experience. Great restaurant in Prague. We went there for our anniversary and they treated us very nicely. We told them we are pescatarian's and they were very happy to accommodate us. This is a Michelin restaurant which deserves the star that is has. The service is outstanding. The staff makes your dining experience very pleasant. They bring each course to you and explain it. The food is amazing. It reminds me of The French Laundy. I don't know what I ate that night but everything had a burst of flavor. Go for the food or go for the service. But definitely try this place out. It is one of the most exciting things to do in Prague (a beautiful city). A big must do!!! Try it out! read more

Go here! That simple declarative sentence could be my whole review. This place is amazing. I was here in March 2017 and had booked a reservation, when we got there, I will admit I wasn't jazzed about the menu. I like fish but am typically pretty pedestrian in my tastes, snapper, halibut, etc. That night, one course was Pike(never had it) and another was Catfish(only when fresh caught and fried-this one wasn't going to be fried). Wow! From the first bite of the first amuse bouche I was blown away. Some tasting menus( a lot) start subtle, with delicate flavors and then build to a crescendo. That is not, in and of itself a bad thing. This meal was a knockout punch followed by a knockout punch. The dishes were beautifully presented but each packed a unique and wonderful flavor punch. It was so good I regretted doing the 6 course and felt I should have gone all in for 11! PS, who knew catfish would taste like that! read more

One of the best restaurants I've been to on the european continent - and each time it is consistent. It was my fourth time there. Chef Oldřich is creative and puts delicious platings in front of the guests. The service is attentive and pleasant, without being overbearing. Sometimes it is confusing who is the head waiter for the table, but that does not matter in the greater scheme of things. Sommelier Novotný tells you some stories about the wines that are impeccably matched to the dishes from the kitchen. I highly recommend getting the wine pairing with the "Dégustation du Chef". The amuse-bouches sent out will surprise you. The ambiance is modern. It isn't stuffy and snooty. When the place is full, it may be a bit annoying when larger groups are there making noise. An additional note: some of the descriptions on the menu do not do justice to what actually is being served. Simple references like "Tomato Sauce and Mustard" will not describe what will be amazing your taste buds. The only downer that evening were the Potatoes in Ash, which were just too hot (temperature) to handle. The menu may be too pricey - but it sure pays off to save up for it. Tip: if you dine alone, try to reserve the table by the open kitchen. It serves for entertainment. If you are a doing a romantic dinner for two, and it is possible, get the table in the corner window where Hastalska and Rybna streets intersect. Every time - incredible. read more

With only a few days in Prague, I felt very lucky to get a reservation here. My boyfriend suggested it last minute and we managed to get a weekend reservation! When dining in a Michelin restaurant, why not go all out? We did the 12 course menu with wine pairings and I think we would both agree that it was a great choice. There were a few dishes that I didn't love, but were interesting and flavorful nonetheless. The wines enhanced each dish and the sommelier was friendly and knowledgable. Service was excellent and we were lucky enough to get a table next to the kitchen. Watching the chef and his team was amazing. I'd definitely agree with other reviews that it was an unpretentious dining experience and a must while in Prague, despite the price. Also, prepare for the length. If you're in it for the long haul (12 courses) expect that dinner will take nearly 4 hours. I'm definitely not complaining! My boyfriend and I have a new tradition of going out for one really fancy dinner when we go on vacation. Our trip to La Degustation was our 2nd of such dinners. Overall, we had a really beautiful time here. I was quite struck by the intensity of flavors in all of the dishes, and I didn't try anything I didn't enjoy. My two favorites were fish dishes, and my boyfriend loved the deer and a cabbage dish. If 8 courses weren't enough, we were also served some extra little surprise snacks. Menus change all the time, and we don't use our phones for these special occasion meals, but be prepared to be really delighted! read more

Definitely worthy of a Michelin star. Service and atmosphere was spot on excellent. They'd come and replace your napkin with a crisply folded one when you got up to use the restroom. They'd even replace every utensil between courses. It's what you'd expect at a place like this. The place itself is modern and features an open kitchen so it is pretty cool with just the right amount of liveliness but not overwhelming noise. The food itself was good but I wasn't blown away at every course. We did the 6-course with wine paring and left feeling full. The menu seems to change monthly if not seasonally. I think what was great was they really did try to take a modern spin on Czech cuisine and pair it with only Czech wine. It was an innovative menu no doubt. I think for the month of September, the highlights were the poultry offals and the beef tongue. The Czech fish was overpowered by the vegetable leaves that came with it. The dessert was okay not great. They did serve a lot of amuse bouches alongside the meal which was greatly appreciated -- I counted at least 3-4 different ones and maybe 6-8 bites that were free! Overall, I think it's definitely worth going to if you're in Prague and will showcase Czech food in an innovative manner. Do I think it's a fantastic value or 3-star Micheline? No. It's a fantastic 1-star Michelin with a reasonable price (maybe good value depending what currency you're converting from). I would come back again if I was in town. read more
