Yelp really coming through!,,, last night of a week in Prague, a beautiful and extraordinarily interesting city, we again went to Yelp to find recommendations other than the local cuisine. The listing and comments revealed a jewel; a high ceiling space with wood panels and green padded seats, a chef who came to our table and discussed wines, and a simple but fresh and adventuring menu. After tastings, we chose a German white (that is a rarity), and an Austrian red. Seems there is a lot to learn! I had a grilled bass with potato and zucchini plus a light vegetable sauce. My wife had a baked and sliced chicken breast with a showering of peppers and sauce. This is the place that you hope to find when visiting a new city. read more

I am so SO glad we found this place on Yelp! We went here for dinner after a long drive and a lovely day of sightseeing in Prague and we were enchanted by the tasting menu. The 5 course tasting menu was 30 euros and worth every cent. The service was perfect, attentive but not pushy. And the food was fantastic. I absolutely loved the decor, which was low key and did not take itself too seriously (the common theme of chasing errant vegetables and poultry was light hearted and made me smile.) The menu was short, and did not go into details about what each dish entailed. And that was OK, because everything was absolutely delicious. We started with a chicken liver pate with pea greens and lovely mustard and bread. Next came a savory morsel of fish (I think trout, but not sure) with a bean salad. Then a perfectly cooked beef medallion with amazing mushroom sauce and a creamy, smooth, light mashed potato. This mashed potato was extraordinary in its simplicity, creamy texture, and great taste, redefined what a mashed potato could be. I could eat this beef forever and be content. After the beef came chicken, with a ginger/carrot salad and pureed squash. This was the most perfectly prepared chicken breast I have ever had. It was perfectly juicy and moist, no dryness at all, and a texture more like a chicken thigh than a leg. It made me realize that I have been cooking chicken wrong, and inspired me to do better. After coming home, I've revised how I cook chicken, and am much happier with my life, all due to this chicken breast at Nota Bene. After all of these courses, we finished off with a very nice piece of mango cheesecake. It was quite a bit of food, but actually not too much since we were hungry and had spent hours walking around during the day. Everything on the menu was relatively simple, but extremely fresh, well prepared, and presented. It all worked together and was the perfect mix of modern and traditional. I could see elements of traditional cooking like the pate, the bean salad, the beef with mushrooms, but it was re-imagined, lighter, fresher, not greasy. Full of colors, textures, contrasts. Modern influences from both East and West. Just, sublime. I will recommend this place to anyone I know going to Prague, and will eat here any time I'm in town. read more

This was such a cute, trendy place. When we got there, we saw a large group of well dressed locals from prague enjoying their nights. The lighting was perfect, and the decor set the mode for an intimate, chilled out night. It was such a refreshing change from the tourist-overun restaurants in the old city. We showed up there at 930, when the kitchen was closing, and they still served us. I quickly ordered the duck entree and sticky toffee dessert. Both these dishes were absolutely to die for. The duck was perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. It was Paired with thinly sliced potatoes, roasted and laid on top of each other. There was also some broccoli and a beet puree on the plate. The dessert was so rich and delicious--it was my first time getting sticky toffee and I will never forget this experience! The staff were extremely friendly and sweet. They smiled, chatted with us, and gave recommendations. I only regret that I couldn't try the tasting menu, which was only 750!! read more

Very nice little cafe tucked away on a side road. Fills up at lunch so seems to be a local favorite. They have both Czech beers and wine. They have lunch specials- I got the linguine with red sauce which had fresh made pasta and was quite good. My wife got the lamb dish which she enjoyed. This was a trendy place with a modern European twist to it located right in the I.P. Pavlova area. The decor was very nice and had plenty of seating for guests. The staff were very kind toward us. We had a group of 8 and they were able to accommodate our group right away. For drinks, I ordered a Czech Cider called 12 Prag Cider (around 70 czk). It was pretty delicious and I loved getting to try and a local cider! The also had a cute carafe for water filled with mint leaves. It was good! The menu was very limited to around 5-8 dishes, but a variety of options. It included smoked trout, salmon, chicken, duck, and pork belly. We ordered a soup which had a certain type of squash and some curry spices to it. The soup was very good! I enjoyed the combination of spices. It was around 150 czk. It also came with a basket of bread that was decent but not amazing. For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Supreme with chorizo, green beans, potatoes, a tomato purée type of sauce (all around 338 czk). It was very good! I enjoyed it a lot. I wasn't completely impressed with the tomato purée sauce, but the dish overall was really good. The chicken was seasoned well and cooked to perfection with a perfect crisp to it. It was plated beautifully! Overall, I enjoyed visiting this place. It had a great vibe to it, nice staff, and quality food! If you're ever in Prague, this place is definitely a great restaurant to try out! Also, the people in the restaurant were very awkward toward us being different. I FELT like I was different there. This restaurant was chosen by my Czech colleagues, and it was quite different from many other places I've eaten in Prague. For one thing, the menu was a simple single page, implying a focus on fresh ingredients and rotating dishes. I don't know what to call the style of cooking anything other than "modern" -- it's hard to find a common thread otherwise, but everything looked good. The other highlight was the range of interesting beer available. We went here when we couldn't get a table for 2 at Cestr down the street. Glad we did. This was one of our favorite meals in Prague, and for the price, it's really tough to beat. Small menu, but both of our dishes were the right portions and tasted great. Wife got the rabbit and I got the pork. Food was spot on. Beer list is very good, and the service was very friendly. This is by far the best food and service that we have had while on our extensive trip to Europe. The menu doesn't explain in detail what the dish involves. It sounds simple but the food had very complex and fabulous flavors. Don't be fooled by the understated menu. In addition our wait staff was very attentive and professional. Well done. Recommended by the NY Times, a group of 12 (we had a reservation) experienced this awesome restaurant! Great environment (nice lighting, large table with good seating for our group) yet a quaint / smaller restaurant. Four different types of beer on tap - the "girly beer" (per the server) was decent. More of a wheat beer, but a little too thick for my liking. I did enjoy the sauvignon. We were also able to get tap water for the table (true tap water). Our poor server had to deal with our large (American) group which was a hassle but overall, we enjoyed our experience. The food was great but the service was beyond slow (and Prague food service is already slow). However, with a large group wanting to spend time together and enjoy each other's company the wait didn't bother anyone. The menu was only in Czech but our server was fluent in English and translated everything for us. A very small menu ( a few apps, 4-5 main dishes and dessert) to choose from. LOVED the salmon - melted in your mouth. Would have preferred a less "oily" veggie but it was still a good combo. Heard good reviews about the pork sirloin (loving the sides with it, potatoes and some sort of pig fat salad). The food came prepared with a good presentation and time/effort chosen in making the dish. Very interesting small restaurant hidden in one of the small streets close to Museum, it has a new menu offer every day which includes a soup, starter, several main courses with meat and fish and a dessert. I would say that the dishes they offer in general belong to the international cuisine. Their drinks list is not big either, but they have different types of beer and a few good wines. The service is very nice, but it can take longer for food to be served. The prices are average and above average depending on the dish. Reservation is definitely recommended, because the place is often busy, especially in the evenings. read more
