Loved this place. The ambience and cocktails are good. Not expensive for the location and the great service. They don't let you take pictures, but the rest is good!

OMG. We fell in love with this bar! One of the drinks here is the BEST cocktail I ever had. EVER. And I'm not too much of a cocktail drinker but this one cocktail blew my mind away. "From dust to foam" is the drink name. The concoctions are gin, grapefruit, aperol with a egg white foam infused with elderberry and some grapefruit rinds. I'm not much of a gin drinker, but this was amazing! They make it so right!! We tried to replicate this drink with many other cocktail bars in Prague and Budapest... and Blacks Angel for the win!! *Side note: place is a bit strict, no pictures (managed to snap a few before I was told not to), dress code, but once overcome snobbiness, staff and bartenders really do cater to what you're looking for in a drink. I can see why they act the way they do! Certainly the best cocktails and really cheap! (For California standards- about $8)

This is probably the 2nd best bar I have ever visited (the first was a speakeasy called "Please Don't Tell" in NYC). If you are in Prague, DO NOT MISS YOUR CHANCE TO VISIT THIS BAR! Unfortunately they don't allow you to take pictures inside because the drinks were beautiful and it absolutely pained me not to take a picture of them. The "Dust to Foam" was so yummy and I don't care for gin! My husband drank 2 of those drinks and he hates gin! Trust me, order this drink - you will be glad you tried it! I had the Knickerbocker which was good. I also had the Jeremy's Swizel Stick (served with an ice penis swizel stick) and it was good too. Pavel was our bartender (and inventor of the Dust to Foam concoction) and he was superb! We enjoyed talking with him and tasting several different types of cocktails.

The best cocktail in all of the land is from this dark cave below the streets of Praha. "From Dust Till Foam" was a perfectly made concoction of gin, grapefruit, egg white foam and bitters. They brilliantly seasoned the foam with what I'm told was elderflower and grapefruit zest. I'm positive there were some other ingredients because it tasted like something I've never had before. It was insanely delicious and super interesting. I cannot begin to describe the precision, the sophistication and the level of expertise behind the cocktails at this place. I highly recommend a visit. Accepts credit card English menu No hats allowed No pictures (found this out the hard way) A few other weird rules, but worth it.

This historic underground bar is a must-visit when in Old Town Prague. I say this in high regard to the attractiveness to tourists, their magnificent concoctions, and the historical background of the cellar and bartending legend -Alois Krcha. With exposed brick and gothic architecture, a display of rare whiskeys, live piano playing, the bar rules, and the intriguing diary and notes of Alois from way back when ...I truly felt like I was at some museum/amusement park for adults. And what a ride it was! The drink menu is inspired by the stories/travels of Alois. There's practically a story behind each drink, and all were fascinating! I ended up ordering the Bohemian Manhattan. It was quite a spectacle with the foggy effect, the chilled flask, and the small piece of toast with spread on a wooden paddle serving board. Like the regular Manhattan cocktail, but made with Czech single-malt whiskey. This drink was on the strong side and somewhat rough with heavy bitters. Three thumbs up for the extra flask refill! Another drink that got us "balling" was Jeremy's Swizzle Stick. Inspired by "titillating films and Ron de Jeremy," this drink was all across the board from being sweet and spicy. Refreshingly satisfying! Photography is not allowed at this bar. Sorry, I couldn't resist! I think it's obvious that I enjoyed our visit. Wish I came back for more. Until next time!

Vesper -- very cold and very dangerous. Just the way I like it.

With beer freely flowing like the Vtlava river, it didn't even occur to me about having proper cocktails in Prague. Until Black Angel's Bar. The location is touristy as heck, but the crowd is very international. Down in the rock-cave basement of Hotel U Prince, this bar is sexy, sexy, sexy! The ingredients are all top notch: fresh squeezed juices, home made bitters and high quality booze. Since we're in Prague, I can live like a queen here. About $6 for a cocktail which I would normally pay $12 in San Francisco? game on, liver! We were able to sample all the sections of the menu: newly minted in English in a handsome leather bound book. In the mood for cognac? the East India cocktail is the perfect opener, then follow it up with a sidecar, which of course, comes with a sidecar. (don't you love getting 2 drinks for the price of one?) Whiskey lovers wil feel luxurious holding an exquisite crystal glass. The sazerac is a MUST order. It comes with an absinthe ice ball that changes the taste of the cocktail while it melts. I mean, how ingenious is that? Do I also need to mention the phenomenal piano player who was playing old school rock and even some Elvis tunes? Everyone recognized "Don't Stop Believin" while he was tapping away at those slim white piano keys. Bravo maestro! Thank you Black Angels for resurrecting the cocktailian in me. Vesper actually had a Vesper in Prague! Well, how was it? very heavenly! ;-)

Black Angel's bar in an absolute gem located right in the heart of Prague. This bar has somewhat of an old school vibe to it that really sets it apart from the rest. As you enter through a hotel, your expectations are actually quite low but once you get inside of this beautifully decorated brick and mortar you begin to understand its appeal. The service is solid and the bartenders actually product fantastic cocktails and they do it with a substantial amount of flair. There is often a live pianist to further broaden the ambiance. Overall, this place is a fantastic bar that makes exceptional cocktails. Pros- Location Bartenders Pianist Overall ambiance Functional layout Nicely priced Stiff drinks Great selection at the bar Cons- Cigarette smoking everywhere Can get extremely loud Tough to have a conversation

Chandeliers, piano player, exposed brick everywhere

Not only does Absintherie serve as a beautiful absinthe bar, it's also a small absinthe museum! They have displays with fascinating information about the history of absinthe, and items related to the making of absinthe. Since it's a Prague specialty, I chose to drink macerated absinthe. It was so fun to watch the bartender expertly handle the drink and the flames. Once my drink was made, I wandered around Absintherie while enjoying my drink and enjoying the displays and learning omre about absinthe. They used to sell absinthe ice cream here, according to a blog I read back in the early 2010s. Unfortunately, due to regulations in Prague, absinthe ice cream is no longer offered. However, the bartender who served me quickly whipped up a small bowl for me. When I asked him how much I owe him, he said don't worry about it, they only give it to nice people. That was so sweet and nice of him!!! 5 stars for sure!!!!! Thank you Absintherie for being such a memorable absinthe bar in Prague!

Reservations were booked…read moreweeks in advance but we decided to test our luck as it opened and got lucky with a walk in. This is a speakeasy where you spend 1.5-2 hours choosing drinks solely from illustrations that fit into a story. You truly don't know what the drink will be aside from the types of alcohol and a few words to describe the flavor profile. There were about 6 sections for 3-4 guests in a party, which is why reservations were highly recommended. The server then comes over with the cards and describes the concept. He does ask if there were any alcohols we didn't like, then gave us the cards to choose from. A few minutes later he came back and took them to get our drinks prepared. The drinks did take a little while to prepare. The server, who was now masked, delivered our drinks. They were served with different decorations or props to enhance the story telling. Each drink was quite different and were definitely well crafted. We ended up each having two rounds but there were probably 10 drinks to choose from. Pros -This concept is quite unique, and stood out over other speakeasies in Prague. -It's intimate and classy, and the ambiance offers an elevated experience. -The story telling element added another layer of experience, you would likely order more drinks to figure out the story. How they presented each cocktail was also very photo friendly. Opportunities -You could see your neighbors experience in front of you, which took away that surprise element that they were going for. You'd see their drinks roll by and would see what's coming. We also saw their reactions to their drinks so we knew what not to order. I wish there were curtains separating each party so it was really a surprise. -I wish the staff were in masks the entire time, it would be more spooky and true to how social media presents this place. They only wore them to bring drinks over. -Drinks were upscale but definitely an acquired taste. We liked some more than others. Overall this place is unique, and with a few tweaks on tiny details, I think would be phenomenal.

I had bookmarked Tynska recently and noticed it was only a few blocks away, so we walked over. In a city that confuses me every single time I round a corner, Tynska was actually easy to locate. About time that happened! It's not too far from Old Town Square, for context. When we arrived, the door was locked in speakeasy fashion. Turns out you need to ring the bell to be allowed in. Cool way to control crowds! I'm not sure if there was a dress code or not. My roommate and I were dressed normally for the season and were permitted inside without a reservation. Perhaps they're more strict later in the night or if there's limited seating. I checked in on Yelp and an ad popped up for a free snack plate. My server didn't know about it but asked the bartender, who accepted the coupon. What arrived was seriously beautiful: a tray of delicious cheeses (four different kinds, I believe), crackers, and a semi-sweet jam. We were also given a cup of popcorn mixed with potato chips and a separate bowl of green and black olives. So good!! For drinks, my roommate ordered a red wine, which she deemed "awesome." I chose the Life is Beautiful cocktail -- made with aperol, elderflower liquer, fresh lime, and topped with Laurent Petrier Champagne. At 295 crowns ($12), it was a splurge but totally worth it considering it was likely the best cocktail I've had in months. The decor here was dim, cool and ritzy. Think Mad Men styling. Perfect for a night out with a few close friends, a date, or to enjoy solo seating at the bar. Better than a club night? I'd say there's no comparison.
