I'd call it a speakeasy with a bartender full of personality, which I found it amusing. She asked about flavor profiles and we gave her our preference, but she kept finding contradictions. After a bit it was like not sure what else I can say. Full of contradictions, but entertaining. At the end, she made an excellent dirty martini with Mediterranean notes for me and hubby a twist on an old fashioned. I then asked for a refreshing drink and she delivered. At one point the place was full and 5 large frat boys walked in, and it's a small space. She told them there wasn't room and to come back later. Not sure what they said, but she told them sorry not here. It was funny seeing them walk out shocked and in disbelief. Same theme as everywhere else, be patient, be polite and it's reciprocated. This was a great speakeasy recommended to us by a local. I am pretty sure the "rudeness" is part of the package. Our friend who had been there before mentioned that the bartender wasn't really interested in being nice but rather in making really good drinks. You tell them about your tastes and they make a custom cocktail for you. They will act a little bit bothered but they are great at their job. It's fun! Try to have fun. Anyway, it's peak speakeasy vibes with moody lighting and old fashioned decor. The music is even straight from the 1920s. It was a great place to enjoy a couple of cocktails that were out of the ordinary and essentially once in a lifetime. And our bartender was moody and talented. I cannot say enough good things about this adorable little bar. It really is the ultimate cocktail experience. We did not know what to expect and then we met Martin are bartender and I believe the owner. There is no cocktail menu, "you are the menu" as Martin says. He wants to make you a cocktail that you would love. He asked us, "are you modernist or traditionalist?" To get a better sense of what we would like! This man tries to create an experience for every individual drinking in his establishment. He chooses a beautiful glass from his collection to cater to this experience. I found myself drinking a Rob Roy out of a gorgeous 1920's glass. With soft jazz in the background made me feel like I was in a scene from an old movie. Best bar in Prague. It's a tiny bar but was lucky to get seating the three times we came here. YES three times in three days! It does get packed around 11 so if you are an old lady like me, 9 is perfect. It's close to the square so it's accessible to many but it's hidden in a downstairs location so it feels very secretive. Very much like the speak easy bars that are popping around everywhere. What I loved about this place is there is one bartender who not only mixes the drinks but also serves the tables and takes the tab. Poor guy does it all! What really impressed my husband and I is that they have NO set menu. Jakob will ask you what you usually drink and he will then recommend a drink you might enjoy. Every drink was a hit. A hidden gem in Prague which I found thanks to Yelp. Very authentic cocktail bar without a menu. You tell them what kind of cocktails and/ or flavors you like and they make drinks for you. You give feedback and they make the next one and so on as long as you want to go on. There are just two people working, one taking the orders and giving you the check and the one making the drinks and probably the owner. There is just a large sticker (no sign) on the door and you go down the stairs, so it is hard for passers by to just walk in. They have more than a hundred bottles at the bar and they take out flavors from the fridge to mix as well. The glasses are almost all vintage. We sat at the bar and watched the drinks get prepared which was great. It is amazing that the barman almost never stopped to think, it looked like he was on autopilot. I saw him stop and think twice while I was there for 2.5 hours, once for an ingredient and once to select a glass. I had three drinks and for the last one I asked for "something from the tropics, with coconut and pineapple flavors, something warm". When the person taking the order was telling my order in Czech to the person mixing the drinks, he loudly repeated a word, in astonishment, it seemed. I could not figure out why then, but once the mix was done, he started to heat the mix. Then I understood that "warm" was taken literally. I told him that I had meant it figuratively, but dis not want to constrain his creativity. There it was, a hot cocktail served in a stylish mug. Amazing, highly recommended. read more

This bar is AMAZING. And let me tell you we didn't think so at first. We were recommended this bar by a couple giving a food tour and decided to check it out that evening. Our initial impressions were very off-putting. The entrance is 5 ft tall on a quiet side street with little signage indicating that this is the place you're looking for. We took the chance and pushed the door forward and thought we had entered a closed bar (it was not). We took a seat and were given a swift "No" as a response to "do you have a menu?" We were all confused and didn't know if we even wanted to stay, but thank god we did. The bartender told us that he would custom make our drinks we just had to describe what we liked (hence no menu). I've never had a cocktail like it since. Fresh ingredients, CUSTOM MADE, and in antique glasses from the 1900s. In the end, the bartender warmed up to us and we enjoyed his drinks, his company, and pictures of his dog. OH and I forgot to mention the drinks are CHEAP!!!! $36 USD for 6 drinks!!! Would never have found this place without sweet, sweet Google Maps. I'm a huge fan of bars where bartenders will make a mystery drink based on what flavors you're craving, so Parlour was perfect. The entrance is really small, but if you know where to look, you'll see the sign and a set of steps leading down. It's a cozy bar with couches you could fall asleep in and nice music. There wasn't anyone when we went at 11pm on Tuesday, which isn't surprising. I asked for something fruity, my bartender asked if I liked raspberries, and that was it. They ask a series of questions to get a sense of what you like and then make you something unique and in my opinion super delicious. We made a reservation via email and I suggest you do that if you have a group larger than 2 on the weekends. The service was outstanding and our soft spoken waiter/bartender was phenomenal. We were able to enjoy our conversation and our drinks without feeling rushed and felt that the price was definitely reasonable (though to be fair I'm used to New York prices). Few times in my life have I been to a bar that offered a perfect combination of attentive yet discreet service, skilled bartending, beautiful and unique ambience, and great prices. I loved this place. They had a great selection of liquors (even Bulleit bourbon from Kentucky) and the bartenders asked for pointers and just whipped up whatever they thought would suit you - and they never failed. Its Unique. One of the few hidden gems in Prague that is worth always recommending to others with out reservations. That being said it is a bit pompous, albeit unintentionally. The one thing that is truly special is that it puts the "what your are drinking" back into focus. Bars are usually all about drinking and not about the drink. Order whatever you like or can stomach. And where there is an elaborate cocktail menu its usually a list of curated flavor and some gimmicks. Here the custom tailor the drink to you. So what would you rather have: a gimmick or something custom tailored to you? Which bring me to my next point. You should come with the mind set to have 2 to 3 drinks at least. Listen, I travel a lot and my hobby is to visit dive bars and bars with great ambience wherever I go....and I'm serious about my hobby, and I travel a lot...Parlour ranks very high with me. This little place is a mix of small speakeasy and a high end bespoke suit tailor, just with drinks. Small as it is it reminded me of the classiest if the Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans.
