After several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to visit my local Ace Hardware store, which is conveniently close to my home. When I arrived, I explained the situation to the supervisor, Craig. From that moment on, he went above and beyond to help. He first tried assisting me with placing the delivery order directly from my phone, but the system continued to have issues. Rather than giving up, he spent a considerable amount of time working through options with me and ultimately suggested that I place the order for pickup. He then personally assured me that he would make sure the grill was delivered. Since it was Thursday and I needed the grill by Saturday, I was hopeful but not entirely sure it would happen. To my surprise, I received a personal phone call from Craig on Friday letting me know that his driver was on the way with my grill. This level of customer service is exceptional and not something you typically experience at a large box store. Craig took complete ownership of the situation, followed through on his promise, and exceeded my expectations every step of the way. A huge thank you to Craig for going above and beyond. The checkout employees took an unusually long time to process our order and provided inaccurate information. We were told that the fountain would be delivered and assembled, and we specifically emphasized that we needed it as soon as possible because we had an event scheduled for Saturday. We were also told that someone would call us with a delivery date. By Sunday, we still had not heard anything, so I called to check on the status of the order. I was placed on hold and never transferred. When I called again on Monday, I was told that a forklift had broken down and deliveries could not be made. I also learned that the notes on my order incorrectly stated that I wanted the fountain delivered by Saturday, when in reality I had clearly explained that I needed it delivered before Saturday. From that point on, I had to follow up daily through Wednesday just to get updates on my delivery. When the fountain was finally dropped off, I discovered that it would not be assembled as originally promised. To make matters worse, despite the delay, the display fountain had not even been cleaned before delivery. I understand that it was the last one available, but I would have expected it to be cleaned and presented in acceptable condition. Instead, I paid full price for a fountain that looks like something purchased secondhand on Facebook Marketplace--and honestly, I've seen items there in much better condition. Overall, the lack of communication, inaccurate information, repeated follow-up required on my part, and poor condition of the product made this a very disappointing experience.

I had a question about some drawer slides. I asked a man walking by, he was carrying something, and I said, Are you busy? He said, What does it look like to you? I said, Yes? He said, Well, There's your answer, and walked away. Now this exchange was absolutely unkind. It wasn't angry, but it was not helpful, unkind, and disrespectful. I couldn't tell you what was wrong with these guys. But as a woman, I absolutely felt minimized and disrespected. My brother heard that and said, Let's go. I said, Yep. No need to spend my money here. I think another worker heard and he tried to come over and see if he could help. But, it only takes one. I don't care how many items they have, or selection of woodworking goods, no business or person should be disrespectful to a customer for asking if they're busy. I can't know what was behind his response, but standing there as a woman among older white men, I couldn't help wondering whether that played a part. It came across as rude and unprofessional. After that, I waited another 15-20 minutes before making a fourth attempt to get help. I was told, "If you can't find it, we probably don't have it." No one offered to check the inventory, look up the item, or help me locate it. After spending well over an hour trying to get assistance, I left feeling ignored and frustrated. This was some of the worst customer service I've experienced. I expect much better from Home Depot.
