As much as I enjoy the food and the ambience at Gott's in Kentfield, they are still (many months later) working out the kinks. The service is SUPER nice and they'll give you anything you ask for...and with a smile BUT the wait is eternal and is usually comes with issues; something is missing, something was wrong, not cooked to order etc. That being said, this Gotts location (unlike the one in Napa) is HUGE...and perfect for large gatherings. It's also located in a very nice shopping plaza with ample parking, a kiddie playground and a froyo shop next door. Tip: if you hate their ketchup, they offer Heinz...just ask for it. read more

Boy has this place really slid downhill from Taylor's refresher. Burger had that brutal taste of creosote which is a sign of a filthy grill. Fries were cold and greasy. My kids didn't even finish their burgers or fries. For a 17 dollar burger. Hard pass. read more

This is for a Sept 30 visit. I've waffled for a long while, but feel this is important to share. Buckle up, here it comes...... 1 Star for the long history of eating at Gotts Roadside, at every location...multiple times. I mean like 35 or 40 visits between all properties. 1 Star for the guy who helped at the front counter taking our order. That's it. This was the worst failure of customer service, operations and follow up I've experienced in a long time. I gear my reviews to always try to be constructive. I will continue that effort here. We (my son and I) arrived at 7ish, hopped in line. I was on the phone so not sure what time exactly I arrived but phone call started at 6:55 in my car and ended at 7:05 in line. Important to note because we finally ordered at 7:24. Two specialty burgers, brussel sprouts, onion rings and two ice teas ....with the 20% tip 51.00 ish $ After getting our iced teas, we sat .... My pager went off about 7:46. Not bad, 20 minutes! Then went to pick up my food! A line with 8 people in it, plus another line with 4 people.... . I watched 1 person serving both lines. I watched two women move at snails pace behind the scenes, walking around maybe bringing food from the kitchen to t2he holding area. But not helping the poor guy serving both lines. When I neared the front of the 8 people line the was a sign that said online orders. When I peered at the other line it said pager pickup. So I moved to that line. At that point I got to the front and it was 8:03 My food was cold, and the guy was unhelpful and overwhelmed. I asked for a manager to meet me at my table. We poked at the food to see if it was edible. No manager. I went in the front and asked that a manager come talk to me for the second time. She came out, now 8:08 ish. She was obviously working hard, probably in the kitchen as she looked as if she had food on her. She listened and said that the kitchen was closed but she could turn the burners back on and redo the food. I said I don't want to wait- please just refund our money. I was angry, showed my frustration and said she would give give me a refund. She disappeared for a while and I had to go in again to find her and the same cashier who took my money, again politely informed me she was in the back refunding my money. I said we are not waiting any longer, just make sure she voids the transaction. We left..... as we were sitting in the car deciding where to go. My phone rings, it is the manager saying my order was ready. I said we had already received a cold order and left. She then said she had turned the kitchen back on and redid our order. I said we were told you were refunding our money..... She said sorry and the order was here no charge. We went back to claim the food this time clearly warmer. BUT- Sadly the food was overcooked and not good. I am In the hospitality industry and know the difficulty of operating with short staffed shifts and less experienced managers. But at some point your people need to step up. I haven't been back, but will try a different location again as I trust this was a one off issue. Would love to hear from a Manager. read more

Quality meat but small patty size for the burger that is packaged within a fair brioche bun with fresh ingredients but it's pretty pedestrian stuff for the price point they seem to get away with charging customers. Super busy snd usually crowded with pagers to keep you posted when your food is ready to pick up. With many other local options for more qualty burgers at similar prices or better I would probably pass next time I'm passing by. read more

You're only as good as your last meal! After an initial favorable impression and several menu favorites, my lady and I both experienced a terrible case of FOOD POISONING on September 9th thanks to Gott's Roadside in the Bon Air Shopping Center in Greenbrae, CA. Curiously, we had not eaten before or after our meal of two Vietnamese Chicken Salads that we had grown to enjoy. Within about about fifteen hours of fasting, we began to experience extreme diarrahea, nausea, and vomiting. Over the next two days, our rushed trips to the toilet exceeded fifty, we continued to experience pain and nausea, and we both experienced bouts of vomiting. It is now Wednesday, and we are still not quite back to normal, but maybe we were lucky. It could have been worse. And suffice it to say, we are both two of the luckiest people heath-wise with me never missing a day of work in my entire life. If I were still working, Gott's Roadside would have stopped that streak! As much as we enjoy the location and service, we both can't quite see ourselves returning to Gott's Roadside. Hopefully their sanitation/quality controls won't have you vomiting or running to a toilet! P.S. Nine days after the incident, neither of our stomachs are quite yet fully back to normal. I'm still scratching my head to figure out why I just spent $18 (after tax + tip) for two bland fish tacos. Sorry, Gott's - but I feel a bit gipped. Let me first start with the positive... - Friendly cashier lady. - Plenty of seating. - Family friendly - Wine + beer - Good spot to watch sporting events (today it was rugby). Not so positive... - The place was pretty much empty today (11:30am), and it still took over 15 minutes to get my two fish tacos. - The tacos were fine (not great). They def needed some extra flavor (thankfully, the dish came with lime wedges and there was hot sauce on the table). - The restaurant is pretty devoid of personality. It's just a large cavernous space - almost feels like a cafeteria. This Gott's definitely doesn't has the same fun/family vibe of their St. Helena location. All in all, I'm glad that I finally paid a visit to this restaurant. However, I don't think I'll be racing back to dine here again. $18 for two measly fish tacos? Seriously? read more

I was excited to see a new Gott's location at Greenbrae, perfect for a bite before heading into Point Reyes. With the poke tacos being such a hit for us at their Oxbow location, we both ordered it so we didn't have to share. Despite it being the same chain, these underwhelmed on two levels. The poke did not seem as marinated as the Napa ones and there was way too much cabbage therefore shorting the amount of poke (very obvious in the pic of the middle taco) where there were certain bites especially at the ends that were cabbage only. I am hoping this is just a training issue in terms of consistency but I guess I will have to stick to the Oxbow location from now on. read more

Roadside diner updated to high California food standards. The Ahi Tuna Sandwich can't be beat for taste and value, with its lovely Asian slaw and soft bun. Fish tacos really wonderful, too. It was amazing and super tasty. I honestly wouldn't have known it wasn't meat. Also had it with a side of sweet potatoes fries. So good that I went back a few days later to have another one. Ok so I just tried the ahi burger and it was delicious. If you come here I definitely recommend you give it a whirl. Unfortunately, the price to portion size is still off. With the burger being a whopping $16 for no side component, it is a bit hard to justify the price tag. But the burger is really good- so I'm torn on the price and the deliciousness. read more

When I heard Gott's was coming to Marin, I was really excited that it would be great addition to the food scene. I have eaten at their San Francisco Ferry Building, and gave their famous Ahi Tuna Burger 4 stars. Today I stopped by after the lunch rush and was surprised to see a line out the door; and there were only 2 groups ahead of me and one ordering. So, I was number 4. On a hot day, seeing how much space they rope off at the entrance so you don't stand on the big ENJOY, I don't get why they don't just snake the line to the right and double back to the left to order so people don't have to stand outside for so long. I decided to try the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips for $16.99. It's beer battered and comes with fries, tarter sauce, and American Slaw. Since I was by myself, and curious, I just stood near the area where you pick up your food and watched what was going on... They have a lot of people working there; but, when I came in only 1 person at the register. Given how hot it was, they could also have kept people from standing outside on a hot day by opening up another register. The most shocking thing I saw, and I have never seen this anywhere, and it really concerned me was that one guy wearing latex gloves had the job of going to each of the several waste bins in the cooking line, and pushing down the garbage with his hand! He seemed to be doing a good job, and probably exactly in the way he was trained; but, I kept hoping he wasn't going to touch any other surface or food with his hands. Fortunately, it looked like he never did; but, I couldn't image that he's the guy that gets that job! There are other ways to push down garbage in a waste bin without having to use thin latex gloves in a kitchen! Interestingly, no one else I saw working there was wearing gloves except the guy with the garbage job. Personally, I don't mind that kitchen staff don't wear gloves as long as they wash their hands (which I saw people doing). As for the Mahi Mahi Fish & Chips, as the photo shows, the 5 pieces looked good, and the batter had a pretty good crunch; but, I couldn't believe how soft the fish was and how plain and unseasoned it tasted. The only cause of the softness I could think of was that it wasn't as fresh and firm as it could be. Over all it was a disappointment, hence the 2 star review. As for the fries, they were just so-so, and the American Slaw is basically shredded vegetables without any sauce. It really added nothing to the dish other than bright colors. If it were me, I would had some Ahi Tuna Burger sauce to it. Another tip I would give them is to figure out a way to hand out the plastic eating utensils, and salt and pepper when the food is ready. While I was waiting, several people would get their food, walk over to where the condiments, water and napkins are around the corner, realize that there are no eating utensils or salt and pepper at that counter, and then wander back to where they picked up their food to ask where they could find them. At a minimum the person handing out the food, could point out the items that are only available at that counter. If I go back to try more things, I can update my overall review rating. Gotts has some great qualities. The ambiance is ideal for families and groups, it's casual but nice. The menu is probably 50% awesome, the rest is whatever. They have a more than decent drink menu, kids items, etc. There's nothing wrong with the service, maybe it takes a little long but as long as they serve quality food, a little bit of a wait is within reason. My go-to is the falafel salad and a beer. Leaving this review because I'm surprised they only get 3 stars. read more

I really wanted to like this place- because I live nearby and have enjoyed my previous experiences at the napa location and the ferry building location. My Experience: 1) Ordered two cheeseburgers, fries and a shake 2) Received everything I ordered but--- the two burgers were raw and lukewarm. I typically like my food to be hot. The manager who was very courteous agreed that our burgers were rare-- kindy sketchy for ground beef. He took one of them back and made a new one. While this one was warmer, they had put way to much lettuce- which ruined the taste of the whole burger. Making a burger shouldn't be rocket science especially if you're charging your customers $8.99 for a burger. I have mixed feelings about going back- a little scared of getting salmonella- but I want to give it another try because of nostalgia. Actually wait no there are so many other places in the bay that I haven't tried. 3.5 stars, very close to 4 with a few tweeks. Being that Mr B and I are burger hounds, we knew we had to try the newish Gott's Roadside. There was a line to order on a Sunday at 4:30, so that could be a good sign (everyone loves this place!) or a bad sign. (slow service) I think it was a bit of both, as Gott's is still trying to get it's groove. The staff looks young and inexperienced, but enthusiastic. We ordered a hamburger ($8), Green Chile Burger ($10), onion rings ($4), and a vanilla malt. ($7.25) So, prices a bit higher than your average burger joint. After ordering the food it took 15 minutes for pick up. I thought that was a long wait, but I was also starving and impatient. Now for the food: The food all came out warm to cool. The burger meat was very well done, which is not fun for someone that enjoys rare to medium rare. The flavors of the onion rings and burgers were really good, so if they had been cooked to our liking and hot, Gott's would have nailed it. We will be back and stress when we order that we want medium rare and hot food. That would be a 4 or 5 star experience! read more

I've always wanted to try Gott's. My mother in law lives in Saint Helena and the one there is always packed. I was excited when I saw they were opening one here and couldn't wait to try it. I waited in line for at least 20 minutes, another 10-15 for my food. I ordered was the cheese burger. It looked amazing but it was just okay good. Nothing to rave about. I did get a free sample of the soft serve ice cream while waiting in line, that was delicious. If I ever pass by and there happens to be no line, I will stop by to try something new. It just didn't impress me enough to ever want to wait that long again. I will say the staff was friendly and they all seemed to be working extremely hard. read more

I went to Gott's for the first time today. Overall, I was very pleased with my visit. The staff was very nice and willing to answer all my questions, which was very much appreciated. It was an early lunch, I got there around 10:45 or so. Only one other family there at the time. My order took about 15 minutes to come out, seemed kind of slow since there weren't any other orders in front of mine. As for the food itself, it was very good. I had a double cheeseburger with bacon and fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. Very juicy, which I like. The messier, the better, I say. The fries were hot and crispy. But, they needed more salt, I like salty fries. Thankfully, the staff gave me a couple of salt packets. I did enjoy my visit and plan to return soon. read more

I've been here a few times and tried a few different things. Ahi Tuna tacos - these are a winner. Yum!! Chicken tenders - pretty good. Chili - okay. Hamburger - gross. Like dried cardboard. The fries are decent. I thought the burgers would be so much better and they were a huge disappointment. They didn't seem like fresh meat. More like a frozen patty. I've had solid experiences and food here until tonight. In an effort to support a local restaurant during COVID I had my husband place a to go order. Went to pick it up and waited over 20 plus minutes to find out it was under my husbands name. I gave them the choice of both names when I arrived. Despite waiting patiently, the nasty female cashier started bitching loud enough that I could hear it. This was after I worked a 12 hour shift in emergency services. A nice male employee told the woman, it was ok that the order was placed under another name. For this overpriced and rude experience, I received a cold meal. I could have overlooked this, if it wasn't for an employee being so disrespectful. Despite this, I still tipped for the rest of the "normal" workers. read more

We've had their hamburgers at the top of our "best" list for a while, but I'm disappointed to report that the overall taste has gone way down. We usually get the California Burger, what this review is based on. It used to be juicy and tasty, but we've noticed the past 3-4 times, the meat patty is now tasteless, hard (like overground or overhandled), and smaller (comes nowhere near the edges of the bun). I guess they're saving money or something, which always hurts quality. I'll be looking for a better burger experience elsewhere. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Gott's Roadside. I tried their teriyaki chicken burger and was quite content. Their seasonal pumpkin milkshake was quite delightful as well. Their fries were a little underwhelming, but happy with everything else. The indoor seating is quite spacious and they are really on top of their cleaning there. read more
