wow! One of the best burgers I've ever had! We continued to hear about Humble Cheeseburger from both social media and local friends and I'm more upset that we didn't come sooner. The staff is super friendly and answered any and all questions! I do really like that they don't offer modifications/additions. The service is quick and efficient. They're set up at the Corte Madera town park and there are picnic tables, large field of grass, and the entire park to enjoy your meal. We've been back twice in a week and I'm sure this will be a frequent stop for us moving forward. Hopeful they continue to do great locally! Today I tried Humble Cheeseburger for the first time. Mr B had graded it a 6.5 out of 10, so it sounded somewhat promising. There was only one parking space left in the entire lot where the food truck is located. I felt lucky, and ordered my cheeseburger ($10) and fries. ($4). The male and female working were pleasant. My food arrived quickly and I found a nice shaded seat in the Menke Park gazebo. Cheeseburger = B- It was good, nice smash burger like crust, but not flavorful enough. Superb smash burger with fair prices ($12 for a double). Bun holds up well, nice char on patty, excellent burger to bun ratio, and the other ingredients complement instead of overwhelm. These guys make one of the best burgers in Marin. I like their philosophy of well-executed simplicity. Too many burgers try to stand out by piling on the extras - bacon, fried egg, avocado, this and that. All those bells & whistles can be tasty, but also disguise what the core experience is supposed to be, you know? Lots of added elements often overcompensate for mediocrity... conversely, when you put the focus on the meat & cheese as the main attraction, there's nowhere to hide. My favorite restaurant burger of all time was shockingly simple - meat, bread, cheese, aioli, ketchup (not even onions, which are usually a must for me). But the grass-fed meat was beautifully seared, perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked just how I asked. The ketchup was a house-made marvel with just the right balance of sweetness and acid tang. The roll was baked from scratch, with a mix of textures - buttered and crisp in some parts, soft and fluffy in others. The aged cheddar had a lovely sharpness to it. The whole thing just dissolved into magical sensation. Humble Cheeseburger is more casual by comparison but broadly follows the same "uncluttered" ethos and nails the basics with real skill. They make that central combination of meat-bread-cheese sing, with just a few added ingredients to complement the burger instead of overshadowing it. I'm not sure how they make the beef in their smashburgers so comically flat, to the point where they extend quite a bit past the bun, without drying them out, but they do. There's a lovely mix of textured crust and juiciness. I often complain about burgers not being well seasoned, but Humble Cheeseburger hits the bullseye in this regard as well. In other words, they deliver finely-calibrated simplicity. I had the house cheeseburger, but am excited to try the classic cheeseburger and experience the nuances between them. The people were super kind as well, which makes you want to support them. A common issue with food trucks is not knowing where to find them, but these guys seem to be pretty good at posting their schedule on Instagram. And the prices are reasonable - I paid $12 for a burger with two patties, which is fair given current food costs and the value involved. I may pay for an additional patty next time, for a total of 3 - since the patties are smashed, and therefore elongated and skinny, I suspect that ratio might hit the spot even better! My sole constructive criticism, if I were to be nitpicky, is I think their burger sauce could benefit from a touch of 'tang', the kind you get from a little white vinegar or mirin, but that's subjective. I'm fussy about my burgers, so I'm glad to report that this local business is a gem and they make a wonderful cheeseburger! P.S. I know that food involves subjectivity, but some opinions are just plain wrong, so ignore the person below who gave the burger a B- because they "prefer meat to be more rare". I usually prefer my beef medium-rare too, but you're eating a smashburger, you halfwit - this is how it's supposed to be. Smashburgers cannot realistically be any degree of rare because the thin patty cooks too quickly at high heat. The entire concept is a crispy crust with a juicy interior, so applying a whole other standard is obtuse. The #1 rule of culinary criticism is that you don't judge food by something it never aspired to be and cannot be by definition. What's next? "This burger wasn't what I hoped for because I prefer fish & chips - it just wasn't fishy enough"? I don't think Humble Cheeseburger is beyond fair criticism, but it rubs me the wrong way when people on Yelp dock stars because a business served them exactly what they ordered. read more

Had lunch today at Humble Cheeseburger, a food truck parked in Menke Park in Corte Madera, CA. Parking is extremely limited here. I think a better location is the larger Cote Madera Town park, which has much more parking and picnic tables. Maybe next time I go I will take food there to eat. I had a Double Humble Burger which comes on a potato bun with dill pickles and Humble Sauce. This is the first burger I've had that was grilled in mustard. It's really yummy and now I see why some folks rave about this. But the essence the smash burger is the crispy brown edges. They were perfect and, although I was alone, I was making happy eating noises. It was a little too salty for my low-salt taste, so I will ask for less next time I go. The beef is very flavorful and Halal. I didn't try the fries this visit. A double burger filled me up. I might try a single next time. Service was by two nice ladies who were probably sisters.
