This is my second time using Got 2 Move within San Francisco Proper - And its always a breeze on moving day. The best investment for any city move. David and his brother literally walk into your home, ask what is going/staying/needing to be packed/etc & then straight into their business. After arriving to my storage unit was even approached by another woman asking for my movers info (after hiring two men who were more work managing) than being handy. This stranger mentioned that the Got 2 Move team was hustling back & forth - following sprints back to the truck after loading it into the storage building elevator. (Seriously??!!! We had mixed feelings about Got2Move during the actual move but the way the move ended, we were left with a very bitter taste. We engaged them for a move from Davis to Sunnyvale, primarily because we have a 4 month old and could not have managed moving on our own (we have moved 3 times prior within California and have managed it well without any help from movers). Moreover we got a fixed cost quote from them which we found to be reasonable. It wasn't until David and his associate showed up that we realized the drawback of the fixed price quote. David was quite impatient and was in such a hurry as if he is going to miss the most important flight of his life. His urgency to finish loading the truck was the most stressful part of the move. We understand he is operating as a business and cannot spend more than a certain hours on a fixed price quote, but the stress he added defeated the entire purpose of getting help from the movers. In spite of his constant bickering about how many things still needed to be packed, the truck was loaded in 2 hours, which is right about how much time it should take for a 2 bedroom. Prior to unloading, we had a lengthy debate with him about how he needs to avoid hurrying things and stop putting the belongings at risk of damage (this was after the kitchen box he was carrying gave away and a glass bottle shattered in the stairwell while unloading). After the conversation, he was accommodative and at the end of the move apologized to us, which I have to give him credit for. However, after the move we noticed that a corner of the couch had a tear over it. When we called David to ask about it, he was overly defensive about this and claimed that the damage must have been from prior the move. It is careless in the first place to damage the goods during the move, but then to put a reverse blame on the owner is just plain unprofessional. We sent David pictures of the damage that he asked for, but have not heard back from him. read more

I know these guys have great reviews, but in my experience they were awful. Do not use if you care about your stuff. First they arrived late, which was a bit annoying. I somehow had the impression that they wrap furniture in protective wrap when moving, but they offered no such thing, and also said that I didn't need the optional insurance because 'they had never damaged anything'. I lived on the 3rd floor and there's a staircase with metal railings going down to the ground floor. They weren't careful with my furniture and I had to listen to my fine hardwood furniture bouncing off the metal railings as they brought it down the staircase. Needless to say, it got dented and scratched. Once I heard the first terrible noises, I stood on my balcony overlooking were they load the truck to watch further. They were moving some large, heavy speakers and to my horror I saw them dropping them into a box - they fell 2-3 feet onto the hard bed of the truck!!!! I was nauseous at this point. To top it off, once they had loaded the truck, they then told me that they weren't going to drive directly to my destination. Instead, they had errands to run, and drove over SF for a few hours with my stuff bouncing around in the truck!! So my furniture now has battlescars from the terrible move. Ugh. We found Got2Move using Yelp and I'm pleased to say their positive reviews stack up. We had what can be described as a small move complicated only by our new apartment building's "unique" moving procedures and a small spiral staircase. Tom provided great pre-move responses by email (although at unusual times of the night!) and offered some good tips that saved some extra $. The two guys who moved us were really friendly and more importantly competent - my wife described them as "moving machines"! In the end we had no broken items, one small scratch on a piece of furniture, and two very happy customers. read more

Sometimes you just got to move. Moving is such a pain, but Got 2 Move made it pretty painless. I called Got 2 Move a week ahead of time and I was able to reserve the day and time I needed. Tom and Tak showed up at 9 AM on the dot. They moved all my boxes and furniture quickly and carefully. They wrapped up the important stuff and were considerate of my belongings and of the apartment. The entire move took less than 2 hours. At $90/hr + travel fee, that was the best money I had spent in a long while. I would recommend Got 2 Move to anyone needing a less stress move. Just had to add another 5-star review here after my disappointing experience with Pat Ryan this weekend. Moved in May 2007 and they were FAST. They were probably motivated because they were late to another appointment, but it earned them a nice fat tip. They moved all my stuff out of a 2-story walk-up in 45 minutes. (Note: it took 3 Pat Ryan movers 2 hours to move the same stuff in an elevator... what?!) So even if their rates have gone up in the past year, that's something I would pay for again! I used got2move for my last move and was super happy with their service. They were exactly on time, moved EVERYTHING in a bit less than 3 hours. This included couch, tv, stand, coffee and end table, kitchen table + 6 chairs (which they had to take apart), 2 dressers, a nightstand, my bed and headboard (which also had to be taken apart), 8 boxes, 3 suitcases, etc. You get the point. Tom and his sidekick who are from the Czech Republic were both adorable, easy to talk to you, friendly, and didn't screw up any of my stuff. It's $100/hr for 2 guys with a 2 hour minimum. This is definitely cheaper than the other companies that are rated pretty high on yelp ie pat ryan, corrib, etc. read more

Three guys helped me move earlier this Spring. The hispanic guy that came with the team was GREAT - extremely gentle with my stuff, very hard working. The long haired guy of the two Eastern European guys also worked very hard, although he did drop a guitar amp of mine right off the truck and onto the street pavement. But I appreciated the hard work. The skinny tall Eastern European guy, who seemed to be the captain of the crew, was kind of lazy, to be honest. Would mainly just tell the other two guys to do the work and not do much himself. The move would have been a lot faster if he worked as hard as the other two. He also would hoist two boxes at a time onto his back, which would mean that on the other end, he would literally just drop them from his waist level. I've had three previous, excellent experiences with Delancey, and would have gone with them had they not been booked. Next time (god forbid I move again), I am going back to Delancey! read more

I used Got 2 Move in 2007 for my home move, and had such a positive experience that I called them up again when I had to move my organization from one office to another in September 2010. I wasn't disappointed! As before, they were completely professional, carefully wrapped furniture in protective plastic they provided, and were quick. I really appreciated how they called the day before to confirm the move and then showed up promptly as agreed. They were upfront about the costs and came in under estimate --- we agreed on using 3 movers which was more money per hour than 2 movers, but I think it paid off because of the stairs at both locations. Got 2 Move takes much of the stress out of moving --- would definitely recommend them. They're real pro's! The only word of caution is that they only take check or cash, no credit cards, but this was clear from the beginning so I was prepared. read more

All we needed was a couch hoisted and David quoted us half of what the competition did. The hoist day came and it seemed like the couch was heavier and needed more muscle. Without even hesitating David came out for no additional charge and helped us hoist it up. We got the couch settled and everything taken care of. I hired Got2Move for a long-distance move at the end of November (San Francisco to Los Angeles). Throughout the reservation process, David was responsive and accommodating. David and Felipe were very fast and efficient in loading our studio apartment. David drove the truck down himself and had someone else help unload in our new place. He gave me the best price with the best delivery window -- same day. The price was all-inclusive, no hidden fees, and I was grateful not to have to purchase my own blankets and other infrequently used packing materials. Finally, David kept me updated by phone when the miserable LA traffic proved to cause a nearly three hour delay. I really appreciated that, as my dad was receiving the delivery. Read on for those who care about the soft skills: If I could give a separate rating for service, I would. When I arrived in LA a day later, I found a quarter-sized hole in the side of a cabinet and a missing shelving piece on the inside. When I alerted David to this, he said Ikea furniture is not the best quality and it could happen during a long-distance move. Ikea furniture is not high quality = absolutely true. But a hole in furniture is a hole in furniture. As a matter of great customer service, I wish that he had told me that this happened, with his apologies. It's like when someone cuts you off on the freeway, but then waves to say sorry? (Not the best comparison, I know!) It's kind of like that. Better if they hadn't cut you off. But at least for me, that little wave makes a difference. read more

I had to find movers at the last minute. I called them Thursday, they moved me Friday afternoon! Extremely fast - I only had one bedroom of furniture (although heavy bulky items) to move across town and they did it in 90min! While more expensive than renting your own truck its well worth it not to have to do all the lifting and rope your friends into the whole debacle. I always manage to ding my own items when I move myself, they wrapped everything very nicely. Well worth it! Will use again! read more

Don't move often but was very pleasantly surprised. Load - 1pm scheduled time, but they did call at 12:45 informing they were running 15 min. late. No big deal but notice was appreciated. Move - Very efficient. No slouching for these two guys (Tom and Tuck). Quickly and efficiently packed away. With the cost, I didn't expect too much care, but the wrapping and blankets helped protect all. Had all the gear necessary (tape, blankets, carts, boxes, etc.) and experience. Off-Load - Again, no breaks and very diligently moved all items to where I asked. In general very decent price for good service. read more

These guys rocked my world! I called around and got several quotes. Theirs seemed the most reasonable (lowest hourly rate by a tad, and he estimated 2-4 hours, where others had said 3-5...). We decided just two guys were necessary to move us from a top floor apartment in north beach to another about a mile away. First place had an elevator, the second one didn't. From the time they arrived (a little late, but we got a call to let us know that in advance), it was nothing but hustle. Our belongings were all carefully wrapped and then whisked out of the apartment and into the truck, where they were aranged like puzzle pieces, perfectly stacked so nothing shifted during the drive. Everything arrived unharmed, and the entire move took 2 hours, 20 minutes. We were all moved in by 11:30 a.m., and had the rest of the day to unpack. Tom and George just moved me and my girlfriend out of my place in Pac Heights across town to Russian Hill. Nothing but good things to say; they arrived on time (8:30 AM), were very efficient, fast, and friendly to boot. We had done a lot of pre-moving the week before, so we were just having them do our major furniture (bed, couches, dressers, etc). They have a two hour minimum at $80 (for two movers) plus the $35 transportation charge to cover their transportation plus gas etc. They finished in 2 hours on the nose, so we gave them a nice tip and this great recommendation of course. This is the 4th moving company I've used in SF, and I can definitely say that I've found the one! Have you ever wondered why many moving companies send 3 guys and one guy spends the whole time in the truck, organizing your belongings? Not with Got2Move. I had 2 guys who worked so hard they were dripping with sweat at the end -- but they moved my things in less time, with more stuff than Corrib Movers did with 3 guys the last time. I would say that if you are extremely particular about your belongings, they might not be for you. They don't wrap every piece of furniture so I got a few dings, but they took good care of the items I pointed out as most valuable. Tak and Felipe were my 2 guys and you can't get any better! Great service. There are other moving companies in the Bay Area that also provide excellent service as well. However, what elevates Got2Move above the other companies is their dedication. They are dedicated to providing value. I never had any inkling that they were giving less than 100 percent. Most important, they're also dedicated to getting the job done. There were some obstacles to my move that had to do with construction projects and street closures. But they were able to figure it out to my dismay. Moving is already so painful and stressful, but with Tom and his moving partner, moving is a breeze. They were a bit late coming to our place, but called us several times and updated us letting us know where they were. Tom and his moving partner are super fast and very courteous and professional. They had to move our things up three flights of stairs and they did it effortlessly. I have had horrible movers in the past, but these guys moved so smoothly that I have almost..almost forgot about my past moves. I love these guys!! Have used them twice in the past 6 months. They work hard and never overcharge me. Latest move last weekend was 2 bedroom unit worth of stuff, 4.5 hours to get it done with a 3 man team. Hauled everything out of my storage unit and up 2 flights of stairs to a top floor condo. All-in, these guys are definitely cheaper than the other top rated teams on Yelp that I've used before on other occasions. When you call to schedule, they sound a little gruff on the phone but these guys are really quite nice in person. And they've always been able to schedule me on relatively short notice (1-2 weeks). I've done my share of calling around and a lot of other teams aren't available short notice. I hope not to have to move again for a couple years. But if I do, these are the guys I'm calling first. They really take the stress out of moving. I gave them each a huge tip at the end because they really do the job right! read more

There are 45 stairs leading up to our new house. I knew that moving time would be stressful and challenging, and didn't want to mess around with incompetent movers. (But also wanted to get the best deal possible.) Yelp did it again by connecting me to Got 2 Move, a moving company which provides both quality service and excellent rates ($90/hr for 2 men + $45 flat transport fee). Tom and his fellow mover were not only prompt and careful (while still being efficient), but also remained cheerful after several trips up the stairs. I planned a move from Napa to Burlingame the first week of August (David you know who this is), The requirements for my move were different from what the moving company normally does which led to a bit of a misunderstanding and here is where the customer service really shines through...David came to Burlingame in person to hash out the details with my building management to make sure the move went smoothly, which was then followed by the most efficient and hardcore couple of movers I have ever seen. My 2 bedroom was in the truck in a little over an hour and the guys beat me to my apartment where they proceeded to finish the move in even less time than they took to get the stuff in the truck. If you want your move to be done right, go with Got2Move! Prior to hiring them to pack/move me, I contacted several moving companies for pricing. Got2Move was the only company to actually send someone to my home to actually review the place to determine needs and a not-to-exceed cost. Although their bid was higher than others, I was impressed by their professionalism on the phone (Alex) and the demeanor of the gentleman who came to our home (Marty). Their "can-do" attitude, and assurance that they would do a good job, was comforting. So, on the day of the move, of course it rained, hard at times, and in the middle of the current pandemic crisis. They arrived wearing gloves and masks, and proceeded to pack and move me. Furniture was wrapped in blankets and plastic to protect from the rain, and glassware and breakables carefully wrapped in paper, boxed, and treated like rare valuables. It was amazing to watch those young men work; they obviously knew what they were doing, treated our property with care and respect, and hustled. The rain didn't even phase them! They pretty much packed/loaded our property within a 1,500 square foot home in about 4-hours, and unloaded in a little over 2-1/2 hours! Amazing! And all the while, in our new home, asking where things needed to be placed, or if something needed to be moved, etc. They even reinstalled our bed and tables, and went out of their way to protect the floors. All in all, although their bid was higher than others, the final price was more than competitive and well below the not-to-exceed price. To say I'm satisfied with their professionalism, ethics, attitude, and WORK would be an understatement. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again! Got2Move is a good choice. We used them this March and found that they were very professional and quick. They packed up their truck quickly and didn't waste time. I like how they broke down a large external closet we have and rebuild it at the new unit without it being damaged. We have a lot of stuff for a 2b/1ba apartment but they accommodated us easily. I read the previous reviews here and was encouraged. Very good reviews. However, that stopped when I went to their website and sent an email for a quote several nights ago. Unlike the other vendors I sent quote request to, I never got a reply. Maybe I'm too small a job as I'm only going a mile and have 2 bedrooms. I also found the website disappointing as the top navigational links point to the index page. As example, if you click Rates or About us, they all point to the home page (http://www.got2move.net/index.html). How do I find the rates then? I mentioned this in my email to them so I hope they correct this. My feeling is if you can't take care of your own property (website) how good will you be with my stuff. Update: I got an inbox item from the new owner, David H, apologizing about the lost email. I've bumped up the review as he obviously does read the reviews here and act on them, which is important to me. He also indicated that they are working to resolve the website issues. read more
