We want to thank Ronda and Jena for allowing us to share this beautiful venue with all of our wedding guests. Everyone had a wonderful time, despite the rain that just kept persisting. We highly recommend this venue. The owners are wonderful to work with, they offer on-site rentals to help personalize the day/night, and the view is incredible. We couldn't have imagined a better place to celebrate our marriage.

Absolutely stunning venue. Was here for a wedding and was so amazed by the view and the property itself.

The restaurant had a varied, mouthwatering menu and the service was excellent. The rooms had an old world feel to them, but were mostly refurbished and updated. What we loved most was the varied gallery of paintings on walls on each floor and the old-fashioned lever driven elevator that was run by the staff. The views and the grounds were exquisite with a waterfall cascading by a lookout. An unusual and historic landmark hotel that's definitely worth a visit.

On the one hand, the grounds are lovely, with some nice views of a waterfall cascading down to the Columbia River. The hotel has nice "bones" and the interior incorporates a lot of Art Deco touches, although we didn't agree with every design choice. There's a cool, old-fashioned hand-operated elevator that needs a staff member to operate. My biggest issue had to do with the cost of the room in late October given that the view of the river was very limited by small-ish windows and trees. Overall, just not worth the $325/night rate. The hotel appears to be a prime destination for weddings, which could be fantastic if the weather cooperates. It is located just west of small Hood River, which appears to lack much in the way of fine dining, but does have a number of boutiques, a great brewpub (Pfriem), and a great coffee/breakfast place (Kickstand). For us, given all of the other waterfalls along the Gorge, I think we would have been just fine with a less expensive, less notable hotel for the night.

The bar, adjoining restrooms and such are attached in a way that does not cheapen the natural beauty of it all. It's not a huge selection of beverages, but there's plenty enough you should be able to find at least one or two beverages you like from the beer, wine, cider, seltzer, etc. selections. Finding the Ruins is easy as well as parking. There's great signage pointing you in the right direction, and it's only one block off the main strip in downtown Hood River. The acoustics are fantastic, and it was a blast being able to be right there in front of the stage. The music was loud, but not too loud. I wasn't worried at all about not having earplugs. From what I hear, they have rotating food carts for events and shows. We were able to choose from an ice cream/gourmet ice cream-float cart, and a savory and sweet crêpe cart. We had both of course! The kid's vanilla ice cream with passionfruit soda float was delicious! 2025 #21

The owner is a perfectionist, and he has hired the best Hotel people in the town and pays them all very well. He has remodelled the entire place and seeks to run this 1950s motel like it was the best Hilton. I was pleasantly surprised, heck I was shocked, but seriously this place deserves its rating. There was a layer of dust on everything, dirt on the floor, no refills of coffee machine supplies or tissues, and I had to go to the front desk to get more toilet paper. There are cobwebs on the ceilings. When I asked the desk person in my last evening if I could check-out at 11:30 instead of 11, since I had a meeting in The Dalles that I needed to return from to get out of the room, she said she could not say yes or no, and I had to ask the morning desk clerk. The room was so small that there was no chair and desk to write at. By the way, I initially sent this review directly to the motel via their email address on their website, and got no reply. Only after a while passed, I put it on here. Breakfast was very good.
