The room was very clean, the bed extremely comfortable with lots of pillows, and the views - the VIEWS - oh my goodness - just stay there! Not only are the views extraordinary, but the grounds themselves are meticulously kept with gorgeous plants, trees, and colorful, blooming flowers. The staff was wonderful, too! The lodge is the perfect place for your visit to Hood River. It is located right on the edge of the Colombian gorge. The view from our room was awesome. It is well kept and spotlessly clean. The old oak trees make you feel like a cabin deep in the forest our room 53 over looked beautifully manicured grounds.The lobby is open 24 seven and serves coffee around the clock as well as other hot drinks. We are relocating to Texas to be with the grandchildren and this was a perfect place for our last night in the Northwest, at least for a while. Reflecting the values and beauty of Oregon, the room is a all wood with a live plant. The view of the river, quiet setting, fantastic shower, what more could you ask for? Although some of the aspects of the room were a bit "long in the tooth" everything was clean and all the expected amenities were present. The view was gorgeous and the grounds meet and manicured. Although there is plenty of highway noise outside, the room itself was quiet. Considering if you stay closer to town you can get both highway and freight train noise I would opt for this location anytime. Four and a half stars! read more

I was somewhat nervous when we drove into the lodge. Normally, I stay at Air BNB. I was more than pleasantly surprised when we walked through the lodge grounds and room. It's absolutely stunning. I thought that this would be an amazing place to get married and sure enough, they have events here too. The third floor, corner unit was perfect. Microwave, mini fridge, TV, desk and dining table. Iron and ironing board plus a hair blow dryer. Cozy King bed all though was a bit too soft for my back, but the sleep was really great. We couldn't hear a thing but the white noise of the AC. They did have extra blankets. The hot water for the shower took quite some time to warm up fully, but it worked just fine. The bathroom was spotless and they had more than enough towels. In the little binder, you could read about the motel and property love story, seeing all the upgrades they've done over the years. I love that little touch of history. It makes the place even more special. I would love to return when I'm in Hood River again. read more

The view from the backyard of this motel was amazing! High above the Columbus River - you could see forever. The wind surfers below made it look so easy and free soaring above the water with the wind in their sails. The room was compact but comfortable with a high top table in the back window so you could look out onto the terraced gardens while enjoying a glass of Oregon wine. read more

This hotel was built in 2 phases, the original buildings were a 1 story motor hotel circa early 1960s. The lowest room you should book is a partial view, lest you be facing a freeway frontage road with road noise. Later, (visually the 1990s), several 2 story structures were built, some with stunning views. The "classic buildings" are old and a bit worn, and could use some updating. But all rooms are clean and serviceable and a good value. No restaurant, coffee only. read more

Beautiful property by the Columbia River with amazing views. We got a room with the river view and balcony on the first floor and had an amazing stay. Although furniture is a bit outdated, we loved the vibe and bed was very comfortable. Towels and sheets all appeared pretty new. Very clean property with everything you need in the room including fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Appreciated the daily housekeeping. Outstanding. First you are not going to get room service here. You are not going to have a heated pool with a spa. You are going to get rooms that are super clean, very comfortable beds and furnishings and generous parking. You are going to get folks at the front desk that are so helpful and really want to make sure your stay is all you want it to be. And you are going to be able to enjoy the incredible view of the Columbia River and gorge. And watch the bald eagles and hawks and other wildlife from your window or deck. This place exceeded my expectations. From the check in process, to the room condition, to the amenities available even at my base room rate, everything about my stay was splendid. I truly wish that I spent more than one night here. Perhaps it's a sign for me to visit Hood River during apple picking season next year so that I can have an excuse to stay here again. I got the cheaper room on the front of the property. The mattress was very uncomfortable, the blankets and towels felt like cardboard and the room was overall of a Motel 6 quality. I understand they offer better quality rooms, but this sucked. read more

Great cozy place. I am out here working for a month and my work put me up at the Westcliff, I feel totally at home. I have one of the cottages with full size kitchen, 2 bathrooms (jet jacuzzi tub in the master) and a living room with a fireplace. So homey feeling with all of the amenities of home. The customer service is top notch. Very family friendly run business. I would definitely keep this place in mind to come for a weekend or vacation with my family. The cottages are very spacious and the master room/bathroom is large as well. Great for a family! Update: Week 2 I was placed in a different cottage/cabin. It had a weird smell, there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher with food on them still and some body hair (I won't mention the type) in the bottom of the jacuzzi jet tub. I was also very itchy in this particular unit. I did bring it to the attention of management and I have faith the issue with housekeeping will be resolved. For week 3 I was back in the original cabin/cottage I started out in and it was great! No issues, smelled clean and again, felt like I was at home. read more

We came here on our Oregon road trip and it was not one of the better hotels we stayed in. The rooms were clean and all that was fine, but the hotel charges you for every little thing, including shampoo and conditioner. This is quite unlike most hotels and it left a poor taste in our mouths. Hood River is a very nice town and we would choose a different hotel the next time we're here. read more

I have left a little of me there , no really my tears are in the carpet because I never wanted to leave . Emotional wreck , but this place has taken the cake on beauty . We had been upgraded to the president suite because of construction, which we heard none of . You can see it not hear it and that in its own was a plus . The room was partial lit up so that when you walk in , you don't fall on your face rushing to escape the cold (it's February) Man my bride and I were in awe the room was so beautiful and the view , LAWRD!! We are so sad we had to leave but the stay was most definitely the best . Do not fall for these bad reviews complaining about the key situation , seriously it's not a big deal unless you cry about the smallest things . My oh my what a wonderful place. This old school motel/hotel has been around for decades and I have stayed there in its many iterations. It was with delight after perhaps a decade of not making my way to the gorge that we, intending to stay for only two nights, stayed for four. Westcliff is perfect. It's reasonably to inexpensively priced and the view, the take-it-easy, can't be beat. Were it $300+ a night it wouldn't be perfect, but it's half that and less with wonderful, professional hosts and a well-groomed property, clean rooms and the view absolutely exceed expectations. There are eagles hovering on the winds at this place. Nature, the wind, the water, the Columbia Gorge, is right there. And for a super old school experience check out the formal brunch at the next door more palatial Inn. Dine (don't eat) there, and then stroll back to your view-full room at Westcliff. read more

This place is great to stay for the night or two! And if you stay two nights you apparently get a $50 restaurant voucher for the area. So that makes it a really good deal, and the prices are good. I would recommend getting a unit with the river view. Ours didn't had that, was a handicap room with courtyard view but the room was great! I would most certainly stay here next time we're in the area, and would highly recommend them! read more

On our way to Hood River I left it up to my guy to find us a room. I was a little disappointed when we got here, and here is why. It was a little more outdated, and at first I thought seedy. We got to our room, and it was actually clean, but it was one of the super tiny rooms. So that would be another complaint I would have. In other pics the rooms are bigger. We had a river front room, that was beautiful. Most of the room was updated, except the curtains, and the shower floor. It had some weird chipped looking paint that was peeling up. The bed was comfortable, and they had a nice tall table, with comfortable chairs for the table. They have a microwave, and refrigerator which I find important. I hate going places, and they don't have a refrigerator. The microwave I could care less about. The outside they have the grounds kept really nice. Such as the grass, and blooming flowers. It is a park like setting, with picnic tables around, and great view points to overlook the Gorge. The day we showed up I was so exhausted, and it was almost 100 degrees outside, I almost had to force myself to take in the beautiful scenery. I am glad I did, because we didn't stay for longer than one night. We also took in the sites from the Hotel next door. Very beautiful site seeing from both places. If we stay again I might ask for a larger room. They are dog friendly here. If anyone needs to know, and they have doggie receptacles stations all over so you can clean up after Fido. read more

Great place with old mid century charm. Most importantly, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Secondly the views and beautiful outdoor entertaining areas make it more than your average highway hotel stay. We chose to have all our meals here instead of restaurants because of the wonderful outdoor spaces. Cons: unfriendly front desk women, which is always frustrating. and no poop-designated areas for dogs. They use the same main lawn where the kids play. That's gross, regardless of the waste bags they provide. Would recommend and will stay again. read more

We recently spent 3 nights at Westcliff and could not be much happier with our choice of accommodations. Located only a short distance offer I-84 and one exit from downtown. River view rooms were sold out when I went to book, but we were happy with our courtyard room that overlooked the well maintained grounds. I noticed a few people availing themselves of the BBQ's for their evening meal. Our king, nonsmoking room was clean, spacious and included a small private patio. We spent time one evening at dusk just sitting on a strategically located bench overlooking the river. read more

We have stayed at Westcliff since before it was named this. The grounds are well taken care of, with beautiful greenery and seasonal flowers. Excellent view of the river from our regular room. The building seems to be old school so super sound proof. Rooms were very clean (thank you Marisol) and bed large and comfortable. First time staying with our dog and I couldn't even tell it was a dog room because of how clean it was. Has fridge and microwave. Front desk was hosted by Rosemary who greeted me every morning with a happy attitude and friendly chat. Coffee warm at the lobby which was nice as well. I feel like this is a hidden gem. The employees make it seem like a big family and they treat each other kindly and with respect, which makes the atmosphere feel very welcoming. My kids even like the minimal playground which combined with the well-kept grounds, seemed like a huge playing area to explore. Sufficient parking and close to the entrance to HR, so location was nice. Will return annually. Love it here! read more

I was so surprised by our room. We were doing a road trip on the cheap, and I picked the Westcliff Lodge simply for the low price and expected a dive. Our king room was enormous! The balcony looked out into a beautiful area with trees and was a lovely way to wind down. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, I loved that they gave us a map with all of the local places to get food and none of those places were chain restaurants. We will absolutely stay here again next time we go through! read more

We stayed here over the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was spotless and very clean and it was obvious that the staff and owners care about this property. The shower is amazing w/ a huge rainfall shower head. Beds were comfy and the linens smelled really clean. Private balcony w/ an amazing view. Room was spotlessly clean. At check in, we were given a $50 gift certificate for a variety of restaurants. $50! I mean how amazing is that. We ate at Full Sail that very night and it was amazing. My only suggestion is the carpet powder that is used when the rooms are cleaned. The smell is very strong and overpowering. We opened the front door and the deck door and it aired out pretty good, unfortunately it still gave me a pretty bad headache. We had our service dog w/ us so maybe we were put in a "dog room" so that is what the smell was about? Not sure. My only complaint is the flooring. You cannot walk on it barefoot, it feels dirty and will make your feet dirty. It's just time to be replaced, I'm sure the owners will in time. We would recommend this place! read more
