The owner kept my $6000CAD falsely claiming I had asked her to cancel the reservation. I understand she was able to rent her house during my "cancelled stay" so she had effectively doubled up on her earnings! After a very stressful and anxious 10 week process, thankfully I was able to reclaim my money through VISA. The actions of the owner are reprehensible and causes one to question how many others she has done this to.

The host…read moreprovided clear and detailed instructions for how to access the property and left signs for reminders on site. They communicated really well from the start, when I booked the rental months in advance. And it's only a few minutes drive to town for groceries or other necessities. This specific dwelling is extremely private, simply surrounded by trees and nature. The parking space allowed for easy access to the treehouse entrance, and it was absolutely stunning inside. Plenty of seating options for lounging in the living area, as well as outdoors on the balcony. A kitchen with dishes and paper towels, we were able to put together a nice dinner on Saturday evening. There was also a firepit outside, but no cooking inside the treehouse, just a microwave. There were plenty of plush towels in the bathroom, and the bed in the loft was soft and comfy (a ladder leading to the upper level). They had an in-wall AC unit, central heating, as well as portable heaters and fans throughout, making it convenient to reach a comfortable temperature in any room. And they also offered board games such as scrabble, wine-opoly, and conversation starter card decks, which seem ideal for couples. We enjoyed TwoSome, a game where we win together or lose together. Seriously, this was a good one (though it was missing one card). Even though they don't offer wifi service here, we had no problems accessing the internet on our phones during our stay (T mobile). And it's only a 2-3 minute walk to the river, just over the train tracks, the area peaceful and gorgeous, with magnificent views, and the water a lovely temperature for swimming. I was enamored with the whole experience, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway.

I jumped through hoops to get immunizations shots, for my service dogs, and proof that they were service dogs, along with pics! I had to do all of these things before I could even look at this home!! I also had help, from WGAP, to pay rent ,for a year lease, and that was sent to Con, by email. You would think that with everything going on,with COVID, an owner would be happy to get guaranteed rent. Besides the fact, I am a good tenant! When Connie arrived she got out of the car ,with a nasty attitude, and refused to even speak to me, or say hello, until she got half way in the yard. I should of known better when I noticed, on the phone, that she had an attitude! I responded by saying, "You don't have to show me the place if you don't want to, I can look elsewhere." I was also shocked that her company was asking me for 500 dollars "each" for my service animals, and 20 dollars, per dog, for a pet fee each month. This is illegal!! Moving forward, She told me that she was taking application fees, from several people, and couldn't tell me what order I was in, or how far along others were in the application process. She also told me how people were stealing things on the property, behind the house, I was looking at. I actually began to think she was doing everything she could to convince me or dissuade me from considering this property. I then thought, "surely, I must be wrong". Why would she do that? I followed her back to her office to give her money, for a background check, and of course they all of a sudden didn't take cash and I had to get a 50 dollar money order. This was on a Thursday, on January 21. My credit was checked that day, at 11 am, and I realized that it didn't go through. I got a notice, from Experian, that I forgot to unblock my credit, and my credit couldn't be checked. I called her back and she said she would reach out to someone to see if I only had to pay for half, since they got the other two credit companies. It took her 27 hrs to get back to me, which was Friday, at 3:30, the next day. She told me the credit check would just be 25 more dollars. I was driving when she got back late and had to wait the whole weekend, until Monday, to get in touch with her. I would try to communicate with her many times in emails and my emails were IGNORED, prior to this day, and afterwards. On Monday, I called her again and she ran my credit on Monday,at 11, and crickets. Then Tuesday goes by and crickets. I called some of my references and they were told that they gave me great reviews on Tuesday and Wednesday comes around and crickets. Finally, I had enough of this. I emailed Connie at 4:30, Weds eve., and said I feel that this is not the right fit and it is causing me a lot of anxiety and that I felt uncomfortable because of the unprofessionalism from her and the people at her company. Her response was Sorry, you feel uncomfortable but, I told you we were screening several applicants. I would be happy to send your screening results. I asked for the results and if they were denied and didn't get ANYTHING from her.Crickets. This just angered me even more. Something is seriously wrong with people who act like this. I am really considering suing this company. How amazing that after endless emails and phone calls she was unavailable until I said I had enough of this garbage!!! By the way, I didn't get ANYTHING from this lady about my credit check. Nothing They totally SCREWED me over, they discriminated against me and they are UNETHICAL. I am going to speak to a lawyer and reach out to the ADA about their unlawful practice. If I have to, I will SUE them out of principal. I had zero response as to what my background said. STAY FAR AWAY from these people!!! They talk to you badly and look down on you like your trash if you have any help from the government. Apparently, It doesn't matter that I am a substitute teacher, at two different schools and the schools were shut down. I am considering suing them for discrimination and refusing to provide me with any information after taking my application money TWICE. By the way, I saw another review from an gentleman stating that Oak Street hotel and gorge rentals were the same and Oak Street hotel said they weren't and they are! This company is lying. The second time I had my credit run for gorge rentals it was processed through Oak Street hotel and is listed on my bank card as a transaction with them. If traveling in a large party (we had 6 people), this hotel had one room with 1 king and 2 queen beds, double sink outside the bathroom, 2 large flat screen TV's, microwave, fridge and small table and chairs in one entire room. Priced great too. 2. Hot free breakfast with beverage, made to order at the next door restaurant was included with our stay 3. Located near the Columbia River was a beautiful view and stroll in the morning 4. Indoor swimming pool here 5. Hotel had a text messaging system, where staff would periodically text me to see if me or my group had any needs or complaints. 6. No bed bugs, but a spider and a flying insect -wasn't enough to minus a star rating from me 7. Check-in and process was easy, quick and not a problem 8. Best location for multiple waterfalls within a reasonable, driving distance (Multnomah falls was about 20 minutes from here in the rain, Bridevail and Latourelle Falls aren't too far as well). Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again, when/if in Cascade Locks again.
