I was very surprised by and appreciative of the no-charge room upgrade when I checked in (bigger room than what I'd reserved). There are also electric vehicle chargers on-site, if you have the need. Parking is the only real drawback, that being that there are very few parking spaces in the paved lot, so most visitors' vehicles needed to park in the dirt / gravel area behind the hotel. Prices are far more reasonable than the hotel right next door.

My biggest issue had to do with the cost of the room in late October given that the view of the river was very limited by small-ish windows and trees. Overall, just not worth the $325/night rate. The hotel appears to be a prime destination for weddings, which could be fantastic if the weather cooperates. It is located just west of small Hood River, which appears to lack much in the way of fine dining, but does have a number of boutiques, a great brewpub (Pfriem), and a great coffee/breakfast place (Kickstand). For us, given all of the other waterfalls along the Gorge, I think we would have been just fine with a less expensive, less notable hotel for the night.

My partner and I both grew up in Hood River and have cherished memories at this hotel, so getting married here was incredibly special. The grounds are STUNNING--barely requiring any decor--and our guests were in awe. Nearly every member of the hotel staff went above and beyond to support us: *The bartenders were friendly, welcoming, and even got to know us the night before after our rehearsal during drinks. *The cleaning team went through linens that had already gone to laundry to help us retrieve hand-embroidered handkerchiefs that were left behind. *The front desk staff helped locate a lost item misplaced by the hotel coordinator the night before and took initiative to solve it. *The food & chef was phenomenal--our guests couldn't stop talking raving. The Bad: Our experience with the venue's on-site coordinator, Cheyanna, was the only major flaw in an otherwise perfect wedding. She regularly gave us improvised answers about policies and logistics that later turned out to be incorrect--often reversing her decisions only after we followed up or asked additional questions. It was clear she hadn't taken notes during our planning meetings, as she was unfamiliar with basic details of our timeline. She dismissed previously approved items (like candles or bar setup with sparkling water) and contradicted herself without explanation. This inconsistency caused confusion and added stress. Her demeanor also changed drastically after final payments were made--she became disengaged, appeared uninterested in coordinating the actual event, and showed little regard for us or our guests. Key issues like outdoor bathrooms not being unlocked for cocktail hour, wet chairs left for guest to arrive to after a morning drizzle, and a nonfunctional sound system during our ceremony went unaddressed. Thankfully, we had hired a personal coordinator (at the hotel's suggestion), who managed the situation and ensured the day stayed on track. Even she commented on how difficult it was to work with Cheyanna and said she would be hesitant to recommend the venue as long as she remains in the role. Final Thoughts: The Columbia Gorge Hotel is a rare and beautiful place to get married. The food, location, and most of the staff are truly exceptional, and we're so grateful to those who treated our day with such care. However, we feel it's important to share our honest experience: the issues with the on-site coordinator were serious. We also received a very unprofessional email from her after posting an initial review on another platform, which only reinforced our concerns. We wholeheartedly recommend this venue--but strongly encourage couples to bring their own coordinator. The house is lovely, and neighborhood kitties were sleeping on the porch (though the innkeepers do not feed them). Bowl of Jelly Belly jelly beans in the dining room. The house is warm, cozy, and quiet. On our bed were two little hedgehogs waiting to say hello (ceramic, fyi). PLENTY of hot water to fill the big tub, and even shower off after. Great DVD selection upstairs so you can snuggle in the super-comfy bed and watch an old favorite (Indiana Jones trilogy? Yes, please!) Breakfast was a delight - the other guests were fun and we all talked about our rooms and the critters on the beds when we arrived. Our breakfast began with juice, coffee, tea - and then we plunged right in to incredibly amazing baked pears with walnuts. YUM. We had fruit, mini quiches - everything was outstanding. The Inn is nicely located on a quiet street - and we very easily walked into town and visited shops and had a nice dinner out. The house dog will give a bark at you, then stand there and get his pets, then go on his way (my dogs could never live at a B&B - they'd crawl into people's bags and eat dirty socks - I digress). The lodge sits on a 72 acre orchard, which also includes some farm lands that houses a couple of Alpaca and a bunch of sheep's. There were the three of us for 4th of July weekend and we booked the Mt. Hood room, and the River room. Both rooms are next to each other and had a patio with a picturesque view of Mount Hood. Both rooms had very comfortable beds, and all the amenities you need. Coffee, WiFi, towel, popcorn, glassware, shower amenities, and the best of all, heated floors in the bathrooms! Price per night rate comes with breakfast, and let me tell you! Breakfast was AMAZING! I actually was looking forward to breakfast every morning. It wasn't just the same skimpy toast, eggs and bacon kind of breakfast, but it was a nutritious and filling breakfast menu that changes every morning! It definitely filled me up until dinner time! The breakfasts were delicious and carefully prepared by Deanna. We had fresh lamb sausage, cherry tomato and goat cheese tart, scrambled eggs with chives, and sorrel salad. The second day, we had a cream cheese omelette, ham wrapped asparagus, and fresh blueberry scone. Deanna also made a berry smoothie both mornings. John was very kind and taught my husband how to feed their lambs on the second morning. We met him at 8am and my husband got to feed 3 lambs at one time! I have to say, it was a unique and fun experience. We stayed in the Orchard Room, which was great. It was built as an addition in 2007, so it has a separate entrance and felt very private. The bathroom was well appointed with a marble walk-in shower and soaking tub. We had a private balcony overlooking the chickens and lambs on the farm, and it offered an AMAZING view of Mt. Hood. One of the best things about Sakura Ridge is that it's situated on a farm with animals (lambs and chickens) and fruits (pears, apples, peaches, plums, and berries) and vegetables. We highly recommend staying here and would love to return in the summer.

The bathroom was very small but nice and clean. Our room was comfortable. However, it lacked foldable rack for my bags. I don't like putting my Travel bags on the floor. After coming back from dinner, we had to use our key to enter the main lobby entrance. Keys were simple to use. There was complimentary coffee in the shared kitchen. There is no parking. Our car was parked on the street . We will definitely come back to this place in the future. :)
