Second time here, nice little restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Comfortable lobby with gas fireplace when cold. Friendly staff

STAY AWAY! My family and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in April 2025. We were excited to bring our family golden retriever along with us on this trip. (The hotel prides themselves as being very dog friendly.) However, we left the hotel completely covered with either bedbug bites or flea bites. Not only that, we booked a suite with two beds and we were given a room with one bed. We were told the one we booked was not available, so my family of 4 had to sleep together in one bed. The stay was a nightmare. We reached out to the hotel manager, James, to describe our situation and show him the pictures of our bites. We were not compensated at all. We love Hood River but we will never be back to this disgusting hotel.

    Amount charged

Was ok, interest place but tire alarm went off several times in the middle of the night said was a wiring issue. Manager was actually really rude about it when I asked to be reimbursed one of the nights I stayed, was kind off weird how rude she was. Owner saw the string of emails though and offered a few nights stay free of charge.

Avoid at all Costs!!!! We checked into the "naked winery" suite last weekend and were absolutely disgusted with the lack Of cleanliness and care of our room. Pictures will Show you multiple spots on the wall where boogers were smeared, long black hair all over the floors and rub, pubic hair on towels, sheets and the toilet lid! In a time where sanitizing and cleanliness is of upmost importance for the health and safety of mankind, this hotel has proved that they do not care and just want to cut corners to make a few bucks. I reached out to the front desk and showed her in person how filthy our room was and told her it needed to be sanitized before we returned for bed at 10 pm. We arrived back at our room and nothing had been touched. I then reached out to management who didn't seem to care much except discount my room. Highly disturbing that this was allowed. There are several other hotels we would Recommend in hood river. The best western is great! So is the west cliff. Honestly the la Quinta we stayed at last time even better! Avoid this hotel unless you are in the mood to catch Covid and take some time off work.

Amazing staff, the decor is so authentic and welcoming. Our room was cozy and warm, the landline phones in the rooms are authentic vintage ones. The free apples everywhere are a great touch!

Loved this quaint, old fashioned hotel! Pros: Ideal location downtown Beautiful lobby Quality beverages & snacks available Red & white wine for purchase conveniently located in room Ear plugs included Walking distance to coffee & restaurants Cons: creepy animal heads on the wall River view just okay--you also get a view of the back of a pizza parlor & a parking lot Bathroom is tiny That being said, we would stay here again! Loved it & the service was fantastic!

Despite not really needing a car to explore during our stay, there is ample, well-lit parking available. We always felt safe. Every staff member we encountered - from front desk to housekeeping to breakfast staff-was friendly and helpful. We were greeted with smiles from everyone. It is obvious that this property prides itself on customer service. They were very accommodating to my request for a late check-out because my son's windsurfing lesson was delayed due to wind conditions. We appreciated their flexibility and understanding very much. Our room and the entire property were immaculately clean. The hallways were wide and well-lit. Our bathroom and sleeping area were spotless and bright. The bathroom was well-stocked with towels and toiletries. The beds, pillows, and linens were super comfortable. The breakfast area was also neat and clean. There is an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a gym, water bottle filling station, and small market. The daily free breakfast had a wide, varied selection, and the food was delicious - somehow so much more so than the usual free hotel breakfast. The afternoon's warm cookies were plentiful. One afternoon, there was even a beautiful bowl of fresh cherries offered. The hotel itself was quiet, but the traffic on the nearby highway was loud at night. However, the hotel supplies free earplugs and white noise making fans to help you sleep. The staff seems to think of everything to make their guests feel at home! The attention to detail is to be commended. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn and Suites Hood River. I look forward to returning in the future!

I was very surprised by and appreciative of the no-charge room upgrade when I checked in (bigger room than what I'd reserved). There are also electric vehicle chargers on-site, if you have the need. Parking is the only real drawback, that being that there are very few parking spaces in the paved lot, so most visitors' vehicles needed to park in the dirt / gravel area behind the hotel. On the one hand, the grounds are lovely, with some nice views of a waterfall cascading down to the Columbia River. The hotel has nice "bones" and the interior incorporates a lot of Art Deco touches, although we didn't agree with every design choice. There's a cool, old-fashioned hand-operated elevator that needs a staff member to operate. My biggest issue had to do with the cost of the room in late October given that the view of the river was very limited by small-ish windows and trees. Overall, just not worth the $325/night rate. The hotel appears to be a prime destination for weddings, which could be fantastic if the weather cooperates. It is located just west of small Hood River, which appears to lack much in the way of fine dining, but does have a number of boutiques, a great brewpub (Pfriem), and a great coffee/breakfast place (Kickstand). For us, given all of the other waterfalls along the Gorge, I think we would have been just fine with a less expensive, less notable hotel for the night.

The breakfasts were delicious and carefully prepared by Deanna. We had fresh lamb sausage, cherry tomato and goat cheese tart, scrambled eggs with chives, and sorrel salad. The second day, we had a cream cheese omelette, ham wrapped asparagus, and fresh blueberry scone. Deanna also made a berry smoothie both mornings. John was very kind and taught my husband how to feed their lambs on the second morning. We met him at 8am and my husband got to feed 3 lambs at one time! I have to say, it was a unique and fun experience. We stayed in the Orchard Room, which was great. It was built as an addition in 2007, so it has a separate entrance and felt very private. The bathroom was well appointed with a marble walk-in shower and soaking tub. We had a private balcony overlooking the chickens and lambs on the farm, and it offered an AMAZING view of Mt. Hood. One of the best things about Sakura Ridge is that it's situated on a farm with animals (lambs and chickens) and fruits (pears, apples, peaches, plums, and berries) and vegetables. We highly recommend staying here and would love to return in the summer.
