Sorry to say but the Lodge has seen better days and needs a TOTAL refurbishment. We arrived at night and the parking lot and path was dangerously poorly lit. Some areas were pitch dark!! The disabled parking spots are covered with slippery gravel, broken down curbs and might violate ADA standards. The rooms look "tired" and there are scrapes and scratches on woodwork and walls. Maid service does not happen UNLESS requested and that fact is not revealed until you return to an unmade room. What the $(;;$! We enjoyed the employees and the beautiful setting but won't be back until the lodge AND Parking lot are both renovated. read more

Spent three nights as a birthday present for my wife. Staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in a 2 person treehouse. Housekeeping was iffy, we had to call for bathroom tissue. The cooler on the deck (advertised as packed with ice) had one melted bag. After trying the pub and restaurant, we ate out on the other nights. I had a strip steak that was cut too thin and my medium rare came out raw. The eggs benedict were hard boiled! The location and surroundings are a treasure and the bell man was very attenetive but you gotta work on the housekeeping and meals service. read more

My husband and I went to their NYE party, stayed 2 nights and had dinner reservations. While the lodge is gorgeous, as well as a beautifully decorated NYE party, the costs for the dinner, drinks, resort fees in Winter, and parking, is outrageous. Our dinners were lunch sized portions. The butternut squash puree was a swipe of squash and the roasted potatoes were tiny and few. The dirty martini added $5 for the olive juice. $18! My dinner was less than warm. For $70 per dinner, that is unacceptable. Resort fees should be less in the winter as you would not use an outdoor hot tub in the rain nor sit around a fire pit. $16 per day for parking. That is outrageous. I would definitely recommend a day trip and buy food in the bar instead of the dining room. read more

Best customer service of my life! I called the front desk inquiring about the beautiful paint color in our room. A few minutes later Sara from the maintenance department personally delivered a printout of the Sherwin-Williams paint color, a sample jar of the paint and a chocolate hammer! Wow! After 3days, things just hot worse... there is no interest in even pretending the staff has an interest in service to anyone but themselves.... There is a serious need for communication among their staff...servers, managers and the chef don't appear to talk to one another. Structurally this is still in mind a potential 5 star, but the implementation is a joke.... Here are comments from my wife: Nightmare. Glutened. There for a work off site. I called in advance and was told they had many gf options and could avoid cross contamination. When I arrived only "fresh fruit" was designated GF. Every waiter plus manager had different version of what was and wasn't GF. My celiac marked meal at group dinner was served w potatoes that we found out the next morning were cross contaminated. Sick all weekend. Even non-gf food for others was terrible. This is a gem... The location is 5star, but maintenance, food and service are 3 star in my book. I really love coming here both in winter and summer. I usually come here for work events and the staff and amenities are wonderful. The Rooms are very cozy and definitely a lodge feel. The beds and sheets are so soft and each room comes with a robe. There are mini fridges and coffee machines in all rooms. If you want a microwave, you can request it and have it sent to your room. There's plenty to do here for the whole family! Scavenger hunts for the lodge are located in the lobby as well as bored games for rent. My favorite part of the hotel is the main lounge area that has a big view window of the gorge. Also the pool and hot tub areas are so amazing. I'll start with be positives. A beautiful location. Simply sunning. Mini-golf was a delight and the food was good. The staff we interacted with were kind and thoughtful. If it weren't for them, this would be a 1-star review. When we arrived yesterday (9/6) to celebrate our 1-year anniversary, we were disgusted to find that our bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned. In it, we found hair on a towel rack, bath mat, and in the bathtub. Shortly after, when walking to mini-golf, we let the staff know and were assured it would be cleaned up. However, when we retuned in the evening after mini-golf and dinner, the hair was still there. The staff had come to the room, which was clear from the fact that our hand towel and been rehung, but it was not cleaned. I contacted the lodge through its customer service email last night and never heard back. This morning, after receiving our bill, I responded to the email (a named staff member, not an auto-reply) to let them know and to show them time-stamped photos of the bathroom. Three hours later and we just checked out and we have yet to receive a reply. Furthermore, after taking a shower, we learned it was worse than we had thought. The moisture from the shower revealed even more hair. In short, this room cost us over $320 and needed a deep clean. From the thick coat of dust on the bathroom vent to the clear dust on the furniture, and even a cobweb at the bathroom entrance, this room was not clean. It was pretty gross. Furthermore, when we arrived, the front plate of our entry keypad was missing. The front desk assured us this did not compromise the security of the room, and that this was common. But, we didn't see another single room with a missing faceplate (and we walked past several dozen rooms). I've attached photos below, including the time-stamped versions showing the hair when we arrived and after they had supposedly cleaned it. I recently stayed here for a wedding and it was my first time in Stevenson, so I had no idea what to expect. We booked a standard king room and while the room is a bit dated and quite dark, it did what it needed to do for our 2-night stay. The bed was comfy and the water pressure in the shower was good. The property itself is massive with plenty of hiking trails, activities, golf. They have a 18-hole mini golf course, which was hella fun and a 9-hole course for regular golf. The greens are all turf so no worries of getting muddy or dirty. It costs $20 for the day to play the mini-golf and you can play as much as you want. Most of the activities you have to pay extra for, so nothing is really included except for the pool and gym. The wedding itself was put together really well. The entire team behind making it happen did a great job. And for a huge group like ours, it made hanging out easy and fun. The biggest problem is that it's quiet hours after 10PM, so we ended up partying in the parking lot to avoid any noise complaints lol We had catered food for the most part which for a wedding I thought was pretty good. We ordered pizzas from the restaurant as a late night snack, that wasn't my favorite. The staff throughout the property though, 10/10, everyone was so nice! Checkout was smooth, but I noticed they charged me for parking when I didn't have a car. (I carpooled and my friend was charged for parking). I was able to email them and they said they would remove it. But it's a reminder to always check your final bill to make sure things are all square. This is a great property for those looking for a quiet and peaceful setting and wilderness excursions. read more

I keep trying this place hoping it'll be better. To be fair, Travis at the front desk was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were some issues. It's not ok to say "all fees included" when you book through their website, but then charge for parking and amenities once you get there without them even saying anything to you about them. Who charging for parking?! That alone is a great reason not to come back. I got a vegan burger at the restaurant yesterday and I've been sick to my stomach the last 18-24 hours. I haven't had a stomach issue like this before but it's a bummer. The waitress was nice but lacked knowledge about the menu item, and also brought the wrong food out to my friend with me. I do like some of the decor around Christmas time, but everything is beyond outdated and dirty. For the second time I couldn't use my shower in the bathroom because it was stained brown. I dunno.. I want to love it, but whoever runs this place needs to listen to these reviews like the ones I've seen and figure out how to make some huge changes. Great resort terrible food. For the price of the food the quality is far below satisfactory. The breakfast potatoes were very over cooked, which was extremely disappointing given the fact the buffet cost $20 and potatoes were one of only a few items. The gluten free bread that they served for dinner was disgusting. Low quality sandwich bread I guarantee it. I ordered a burger without cheese (due to an allergy) and they made it with cheese after waiting a super long time to eat I had to wait double the time to get my order right. The salad we ordered had a bad tomatoes. The best part was the service -- all the waiters were lovely-- but that doesn't fill the void in my stomach. The Internet connection was terrible. We tried to watch TV and it was spotty and hard to get work done on the computer as well. Really enjoyed our stay at Skamania. Great homebase for exploring Columbia river gorge area. The room was nice with an incredible view. There is a lot to do on the property pool, hot tub, golf, etc. Service all around was great. The only downside was the restaurant was overpriced for unremarkable food. 10 dollars for a latte that was definitely not worth the price. I would definitely come back to enjoy the beautiful resort. we had a fantastic stay at salamons lodge. we spent a few nights in one of the treehouses and glamped like pros. the tent was really beautiful and so was the view. our bed was comfy (and heated!) and the bathtub was such a nice amenity to have. we had a little trouble getting the fire out to light, but the staff was quick to answer via text (such a nice way to get help). we had brunch in the restaurant and talked about the salmon hash all day. the only reason i can't give it 5 stars is because of the persistent train whistle through the night. i live in downtown chicago, so im used to train noise, but this was a lot. the lodge provides a white noise machine and ear plugs, which is thoughtful, but didn't really help. maybe next time we'll do a cabin! because i'd love to come back and stay again. read more

I enjoy staying for Thanksgiving. They have a delicious Thanksgiving buffet and an indoor pool as well as an indoor and outdoor door hot tub. I like getting a room with a fireplace. There is a fun family game room, free coffee/cider/cocoa station, and lots of outdoor activities (although I've never stayed long enough to do much outside). I highly recommend the place. read more

We visited Skamania Lodge to do the Zipline Adventure and had the best time. Our guides, Stan and Jack, kept things super light and funny throughout while also ensuring all of our safety. The ziplines were so fun! You get to go on 7 that progressively get longer, some of them faster than others. They even show you some fun tricks you can do on the very last one. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone, and would love to go back. It's great for couples, friends, family, colleagues, people of any ability level as there isn't much to it but sitting in your harness and having fun! read more

The outside looks like it hasn't been refreshed in a long time and the dining room is sad sad sad. I went for a wedding, the lodge had booked 2 weddings for the same weekend! Paid $500 plus a night for a suite! Dining options were limited! Breakfast buffet was 45min and was told togo somewhere else if I could! The dining room was almost empty and it was a buffet. For your money stay at budget motel their continental food is better then any service received while at this resort. Disney prices on a low level resort! I went during the off season when prices are a bit cheaper and because of that pricing I was able to get one of the treehouse rooms. I added on the "birthday basket" for the room and it was actually a lot better than I was expecting. Pretty sure the staff threw in some s'more kits, some chocolates, and a campfire game because I don't think it was included in the birthday basket description. It felt really special that they went above and beyond for us. Because it was the slow season, we had an entire firepit to ourselves at the tree houses which was magical. We stayed up really late and didn't have to worry about being too loud because nobody else was staying in the tree houses. The room was awesome. Loved having the fireplace in the room and the water boiler so we could make some hot chocolate. The hot tub is nice and keep in mind that both the men's and women's changing rooms have a sauna in them and their own hot tubs. We dined at the restaurant. Not sure of the name but it was the pricier one. The food was good and the view was great. Sitting by the windows with a view of the gorge is something else! My wife and I mused that our server was the perfect amount of available. Was checking in that we were taken care of but didn't ever feel like he was hovering. Really top notch service by the front and back of house. The zip lining was more fun than I anticipated. I thought it'd be fun but like... As fun as a 40 year old could have with a bunch of 12 year olds fun. But we both had a blast. We didn't do other activities but look forward to doing them on a future visit. Honestly, I'm not sure why families would bring kids here for more than 1 day. I think kids might get kinda bored here but we sure as heck enjoyed relaxing and unwinding! read more

Absolutely stunning views! My friends hosted their wedding at the Skamania Lodge. We traveled from a different state so we decided to spend our weekend here. There's plenty to do: swimming in their indoor pool, golfing, nice walking trails, plus they also have a wonderful restaurant. We chose to stay in one of their rooms with a river view and a fireplace, and we loved it! Waking up to the breathtaking gorge was such a treat. The rooms are spacious and the bed is a king size. I'd say the only two complaints were: the walls, they are so thin you can hear your next door neighbor--ours was a baby crying at 6am, and the sliding bathroom doors that seem to be broken or hard to open and close. read more

We were so excited for our stay at Skamania Lodge. But alas, our hopes were dashed upon arrival. They don't clean the rooms here. Checking the bed, the coverlet was covered in pubic hair (see pictures). There was trash left in the trash cans, trash behind/under the bed and the carpet was nasty. Also, there were crusty boogers on the bedsheets. Adding a star because they DID have bedbug covers on the mattress, so at least the bedbugs were protected from the pubic hair. Additionally, they have the creepiest artwork I've ever seen throughout the halls. Place felt haunted. Thankfully, I didn't see any ghosts, just lots of pubic hair. I think I would have rather seen a ghost, though, because I really don't like other people's pubic hair. read more

We haven't been there for about 10yr. The quality of the service was slow and inaccurate. Blew more than one order. The menu was very limited both in the lounge and the restaurant. The food was decent, though I ordered Eggs Benedict and it was marginal. They were once renown for their Sunday brunch. One of the best I've ever had. Now it's just a joke. They had bacon, sausage, scambled eggs, potatoes (were soggy) oatmeal, fruit and pancakes. Hardly a culinary experience. Our room was a King and there was only one lounge chair for a double occupancy room. The TV cable service kept going blank for a minute or so. Not cool when your team is on the 5yd line and ready to score. The only redeeming quality was the view from a river side room. read more

Gorgeous glamping setup but OMG the trains are no joke. We got zero sleep. They are blasting their horns about every hour and it sounds like they are immediately outside your room. The website does recommend ear plugs, but that is not enough. And then you miss out of hearing nature / natural White noise. $800/night is insane considering the trains are right there. Prior to our arrival I paid $186 deposit on a 2 queen bedroom with a beautiful view and very comfortable beds. When my adult daughter and I arrived I was told they needed to swipe my Visa card for $300 but the funds would not be removed from my account. My daughter and I shared a room and enjoyed fabulous dining and service in the restaurant and bar throughout our stay. Our first evening we swam in the large pool and soaked in the hot tubs. Children are not allowed in the hot tub after 6:00 PM but this is not monitored and the hot tubs are full of children. While I was swimming in the pool an unsupervised child jumped in the pool. The child didn't know how to swim and was drowning. The father eventually saw the child in distress and jumped in the pool fully clothed and drug the child out. Another unsupervised kid jumped in the pool and narrowly missed my daughter swimming laps. The following day my daughter and I headed to the spa for a treatment. I was wearing sock slippers. The attendant asked me if I wanted waterproof sandals. I told her that I did. She held the sandals, asked me to follow her through a sopping wet floor in the gym. I asked her for the sandals but she continued to hold them and led me to a carpeted waiting room where she finally handed them to me. I wrung out my socks and put on the sandals. The following day, after a second treatment at the spa, I asked another attendant to please not bill my visa but to add it to my motel bill because I was checking out soon. She didn't listen and ran my visa. We asked for a late checkout at noon. Around 10:45 AM the woman cleaning our room stood outside the door and whistled for ten minutes straight. I guess she didn't get the message we had a late checkout. When it was time to checkout, I discovered the $300 Skamania Lodge had said was just a hold for my visa was actually run as was the spa charge. This caused my account to be overdrawn and finance charges added. At the time I am writing this review, it has been five days since Skamania Lodge removed $300 from my account. I called Skamania today and the front desk attendant informed me it may take as long as ten days to have my money refunded to my account. The way the Lodge can improve is to alert people at the time of check-in that your bank will remove the deposit from your account and it will take several days for the money to be returned. Train the staff to monitor the pool and the hot tubs before a life is lost. Enforce the rule that there are no children allowed in the hot tub after 6 PM and no diving is allowed in the pool. The pool is barely four feet deep. Improve the communications at Waterleaf Spa and train staff on protocol. For the cleaning staff, keep communications open between the staff and the front desk. Also, ask the staff to spare the whistling and save it for their own showers. read more

The WiFi is terrible and wasn't working at all for part of our stay. That's a huge issue if you also don't have good cell coverage on the property as well (T-Mobile one bar). The staff was kind but the room smelled musky. The views are beautiful and there's plenty of parking but we probably won't stay there again. read more

My review is for the wedding venue ONLY as a guest. I did not stay at the lodge for hotel. Absolutely gorgeous views! The wedding was set up very nicely. Ceremony was outside at the amphitheater. Reception was at the pavilion. It was a cold rainy week in Stevenson but the hotel was able to try to make the guests warm and comfortable. The ceremony was quick and easy. White chairs were set up perfectly. Fire pits and overhead heaters in the pavilion. We had dinner served in pavilion. The welcome party prior to wedding was nice. It was held in the conference room area in a downstairs spot. Lots of room to meet and greet. Small side room for games and little kids to play. read more

Beautiful place with a beautiful view. Friendly staff and a very relaxing hot tub outside. Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and the sliding door for the bathroom was very noisy. Our bathroom faucet fixtures were not installed properly and we're hard to turn and we're very noisy. Walls are paper thin so our next door neighbor was very easy to hear. Thank God they didn't stay up all night. Unless we got the short stick, the pictures of the river view rooms are false advertisement and the river is not that close to the lodge. They offer you water bottles in the room... for $7.00. It truly is a beautiful place with awesome trails and activities. I just don't think I would pay the extra for a river view room in the future. read more

Dining Room a Little Off Their Game. I've been coming to Skamania lodge for the past three years. I love the atmosphere, definitely the view, the friendly staff, and up until recently, I have enjoyed dining here. I recently brought my family here to enjoy the ambience and have a great lunch at the Cascade Dining Room, which I have eaten at many times over the past years. One of my favorite things there up until recently has been the fish and chips. But this time, the fish was both soggy and a little greasy. I noticed that they served the fish on a garnish of some type of greens. But having been a cook myself, when you put a hot crispy item on greens, the greens start to sweat, making the item soggy. I told our waitress, who informed her manager, who kindly took my meal off our bill, but I had also asked her to let the chef know, my feedback, which I don't think they ultimately ended up doing. I think they've changed chefs, as my friends chowder was also not very flavorful, or up to standards, as well as the burger, which is usually very good, was just OK this time. I hope they improve upon their menu items, as I enjoy coming here for the great view and atmosphere. read more

Okay, let's talk about Skamania Lodge. As a dog-loving couple, we were excited to stay at this supposedly pet-friendly hotel. And while the location is fantastic, with plenty of dog-friendly activities nearby, the lodge itself left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. First off, the "dog-friendly" amenities were pretty lackluster. Sure, you can eat in the lobby with your furry friend, but be prepared to order from a limited menu and receive your food in takeout containers. Not exactly the kind of dining experience we were hoping for on our weekend getaway (there is no room service, either). There is a snack stand near the golf shop called "Backyard Grill" that is advertised on the website as being dog friendly but it was closed. Upon seeing it closer, I would not consider this a real dining option for vacationers who are seeking a true "dog-friendly" restaurant as it's more of a snack stand and not a restaurant. The room itself was nothing to write home about either. The TV and entertainment system were straight out of the 90s, and don't even get me started on the bathroom. A multi-dispenser for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash? Come on, Skamania, you can do better than that. And if you're a light sleeper, good luck - the soundproofing is practically non-existent. Our poor dogs were on high alert every time someone so much as wheeled a luggage cart down the hallway. Pro tip: If you're checking in with dogs, you'll be allocated a "dog room" that will not have a view and is in a noisy wing of the building. Luckily, we brought a mini speaker with us and discovered that playing white noise throughout the night did the trick to drown out the sounds of kids/people shuffling in the halls and barking dogs. Trust me, it's a lifesaver! But it wasn't all bad. The spa was a real highlight, and I highly recommend treating yourself to a massage. The lodge grounds are also stunning and perfect for a scenic dog walk. And if you're a golfer, you'll enjoy the challenging course - just watch out for those pesky water hazards! One thing to keep in mind: if you're looking for a romantic, adult-oriented getaway, Skamania might not be the best choice. The lodge seems to cater more to families, with kid-friendly activities like pool parties and Easter egg hunts. As a couple without kids (or "dinks," as we like to call ourselves), we found ourselves craving a more grown-up, relaxing atmosphere. Another downside? The restaurants at Skamania aren't dog-friendly, so we found ourselves venturing out for most of our meals. While there are plenty of great options in the area, it would've been nice to have more choices at the lodge itself. At the end of the day, Skamania Lodge is a decent option if you're looking for a dog-friendly hotel in a beautiful location. Just don't expect too much in terms of amenities or a sophisticated, adult-oriented vibe. We might not rush back to stay at the lodge itself, but we'll definitely be returning to explore more of this gorgeous area with our four-legged friends in tow. read more

Just returned from a corporate meeting here and I'm struggling with the love/hate experience. Pros: -the outside grounds and views- the outdoor patio, fire pit, Adirondack chairs are picturesque - activities galore- golf, zip lining, axe throwing, adventuring, fitness/spa - renovated guest rooms, all with beautiful views Cons - my room was not ready until 8pm. That is a long time to wait for a room . - the biggest reason for this rating was the uncleanliness - discovered I had a used towel hanging on my towel bar and there was hair in my shower drain. When I told the front desk about the towel and asked for a fresh set, they said " I'll let housekeeping know." No apology, no ownership. I ended up having to chase down housekeeping after 5 hours and grab my own set of towels. - this is clearly one of those surface clean places. Looks clean if you don't look closely. As I was eating breakfast, they took two "unused" waters from my table and moved them to another table. Weird. Overall , this place was inconsistent. The lack of cleanliness spoiled it for me. For a destination resort, I was surprised to experience the gross towel situation and disappointing customer service issues. No need to rush here. read more

We had an amazing dinner there recently! All of the food was delicious. The service was great. We had a wonderful evening!

My partner and I recieved a well-funded gift card for Skamania Lodge as a gift for a recent special ocassion. We had never been to Skamania Lodge before or heard of it. Initially, we were really excited after looking at the website which makes the food, ammenities, and location look great. To make the most of our gift card, we stayed for 3 nights in one of the basic rooms within the lodge rather than their more desireable rooms (treehouse, glamping, suite). The room itself felt like a very basic hotel room. It seemed clean excluding the shower which had some mold in it. The building is outdated but the lodging was not our main priority. We were hoping to make the most out the ammenities and location for our vacation. The proximity to the gorge is great and there is a nice view on the property. We did the walks on the property and they were suprinsingly enjoyable! There are ponds with birds and a bit of forest. This hotel is great if you want to hike in the gorge during your stay or go to local wineries and breweries. The location is desirable but there is not much to do on the property itself when you are two adults who don't golf with no kids. We both got massages and facials at the spa which were lovely despite the dissapointing location and setup of the spa. The outside entrance is next to the childrens' playground and the spa is connected to the hotel pool, both of which are quite loud. Audible noise from both and in the hallway during sessions made the experience less peaceful. The spa staff was friendly and welcoming though. We ate at the restaurants within the hotel at basically every meal and were dissapointed each time. The $15 house salad that was basically just a bowl of lettuce and blue cheese, all the food is overly wet or soggy and appalingly overpriced. The only time I had leftovers was when I ordered the kid's chicken strips. I was extremely dissatisfied with the food here. As a queer couple, we felt uncomfortable the entire stay, with weird looks from fellow guests and staff. We definitely did not feel welcome to be ourselves which also impacted our stay here. The only time my partner and I felt welcome and safe to be ourselves is when we left the property to go to a local winery. The winery is called AniChe Cellars and we LOVED it. If you are a queer couple at Skamania Lodge, go here! Overall, I will never be returning or recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

We stay here yearly, and this was the worst ever. Price for parking now $15 a day, amenities fee raised for coffee in the lobby cost $37 a day. Hot tub area very small room for 10 people and the same people hog it all day and drink alcohol. Our room had moldy old coffee pod in there still. We paid $11 for a beer that was nonalcoholic. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything Dogs everywhere and even barking and fighting in the lobby. It was just way too crowded; the staff was overwhelmed I felt sorry for them actually. We normally put our bikes in their bike storage, but they don't allow that either anymore, it just makes me sad what they have to do to stay open. They said they would waive my parking fee, which was unexpected, but they did not. I love the area, the golf course is fun but the place is going downhill. sad. read more

If an expensive, thin-walled resort full of screaming children in a beautiful setting is what you're looking for, this is the place for you. It's easy/fast to get to from the Portland/Vancouver metro area, the food at Rock Creek Grill was good (albeit slow), the service providers in the spa were great, it make a great jumping off point for more adventures (like a visit to the Cascade Locks, hiking trails, or the towns of Stevenson, Carson, White Salmon, Bingen, or even Hood River on the OR side), but the real location are the views. It's beautiful up there. Some of the rooms have incredible views of the river, but even if you're not in one of this there are still plenty of spots to take it all in. Unfortunately it's also overpriced, long in the tooth, and rampant with children. The spa? It's next to the pool so that massage comes with an all-you-can-eat side of shrieks (the front desk staff at the spa needs some help too, but that's for another time). The restaurant? Watch out for flying frisbees and soccer balls from the playfield, and dogs that have never been socialized. Those rooms with the nice views? Pray your next door neighbor doesn't want their TV above a quiet whisper... you'll hear /everything/. It's fine. It's be better if parents who don't want to manage their children went to Great Wolf Lodge instead. 'Expensive' is subjective, but we didn't see the value. We might come back for a burger or pizza, but probably won't stay again. read more
