I've stayed at this place probably around 40 times and the name keeps changing while the quality of the place goes down. If the owners gave half a crap they would hire new help. The hotel experience was a nightmare. We booked a room with two queen-size beds but were given two full-size beds, leaving limited space. Requesting a switch, the management/owner offered a room with queens for an extra $60. When we asked to cancel and switch hotels, they lied blatantly--claiming the manager needed to consult his wife (the owner) and wouldn't respond until 10am the next day, a clear delay tactic. Post-10am, the wife refused a refund, saying cancellation wasn't possible after one night's stay. This wasted half a day of our itinerary. The room was revolting--mold and a musty smell everywhere, a leaking bathroom ceiling with damp mold, and mold along all baseboards. The room wasn't cleaned properly; we found hair in the bathroom upon checking in, slow sink drainage ignored, and only two cleanings in six days. The management and owner are unethical and dishonest. This motel presents many hazards to the health, hygiene and safety of people staying there, and condones cruelty to animals on their premises. There was no one at the reception even though it was listed "open." Bizarre handwritten instructions for locating the manager made for a fruitless search. Phone calls were not answered. We waited in the car like a stakeout until we finally saw staff unlock and enter the office. There is chipped, peeling paint inside and out, exposed, rusty nails and parts of the key drop box fell off when lightly touched. The disinfectant was strong in the room we were gagging. Multiple construction workers were chain-smoking, pounding and hammering 20 feet from our door, even after dark. There were skeezeballs lurking and drinking outside as well. The staff person folding clean linens was smoking at the same time when I found her. The lampshades in our room were filthy and ripped, paint peeling and mold inside the room, a ceiling fan with exposed wiring in the bathroom, towels with poop stains and someone else's hair on the counter. The bathroom was filthy, the bedsheets were stained. In the next room we could hear a dog barking, destroying the room, ripping something apart, straining at a chain or tether--totally unattended. It looks like the owners let their family and friends live here and just let a few rooms to the public on the side. There were suspicious-looking holes in the walls and ceiling (cameras?). Manager refused our calls and would not return our money without involvement from the bank's fraud department. The "customer service" reps at the national headquarters for Rodeway Inn refused to do anything about the situation except communicate our complaint to the owner. That's it. That's their policy. No assistance whatsoever. We left after "staying" here for just under an hour. I politely, but clearly and firmly explained every detail outlined in this review in person to the staff before checking out. The response was total apathy and zero attempt to address let alone correct or compensate us for any of the issues noted. I've been in many motels over the years and none were as sketchy as this--or charged as much as they do. I can't believe the local city council allows this shambolic wreck of an eyesore to continue ripping people off in their community. This motel doesn't even remotely fit with the rest of the nice businesses and amenities that Stevenson, WA has to offer. The best thing to do would be for the health department or zoning board to revoke their license, demolish the building and start fresh with new proprietors and a different motel franchise chain. I checked the bed for bed bugs, didn't see anything like that but, i did hair (that wasn't mine) in the sheets and cigarette burns in the blanket (+stains). Our bathroom had a hole in the door & chipping paint. The toilet paper roll was sloppily placed on top of another one. Also, the front desk stunk of oily ground beef and the worker was very mean. NEGATIVE 10 - ABSOLUTLELY TERRIBLE - THE WORST place we have ever stayed! We had 4 rooms booked for 2 nights. We checked in at 7pm. One of the rooms had dirty linens and trash all over. The owner refused to clean it, but said she would refund the money for that night since they could not stay there. DUUUUHHH. Our family could not find a local room for the night and then just decided to make the trip back home 1.5 hours away. Then our family had to be inconvenienced again and leave early to get back to the venue to help with set up. ***Why could the owners not immediately refund us for the one night since it had only been 5 minutes to walk to the room and back to the office to report the disgusting mess?*** I called and emailed multiple times to the owner/manager. It smelled like cigarettes inside, it was up a bunch of undisclosed stairs, next to a stinky garbage dumpster, was filthy, had a damp towel from the previous occupant still hanging g up on the back of the bathroom door, food stuck to the love seat & smeared all over the tv screen, a shower head mounted for a little child to use, hard bed, lumpy pillows, grungy carpet in the floor, eschew lamp. For the $110 we paid, it was a dive. The AC did blow cold, the toilet flushed & the door locked. That's about all it had going for it. My advice: it would be better to sleep in your car. read more

I paid $70 for one night so I knew I wasn't getting much. The room smelled crazy and the floor was dirty. I went into the bathroom to see that there was still shit in the toilet, with no toilet paper! The bed was alright but I did not go under the covers at all. I just slept on the bed as is, lucky I had my own blanket. AC worked but it also smelled and the curtains would not close all the way so I had to tie it together. The phone was caked in cigarette smoke residue. The bedsheets on both beds had blood stains on them. When we went to the front desk to get new sheets, they asked why and weren't apologetic at all. Unfortunately this is the only place to stay in Stevenson Washington. It wasn't my choice to stay here. I provide personal care services. So, my client had some friends down here who she hadn't seen in years. And wanted to visit with them. Because she probably won't get the chance again. She asked for the handicap room which we got. But its all the way at the end. It was hard for her to walk the distance. I ended up pushing her on her walker. The room basically is clean. Some stains on bedding and i found long black hairs in my bed about 10 of them. I did ask about changing rooms and explained to them the reason why. She was denied. Not sure about if there was a breakfast. My advice is if you need a handicap room. Just ask for the closest room available to the parking lot on ground floor. read more

My mom and I stayed here because the price was affordable. I wanted to go shad fishing at the Bonneville Dam and Cascade Locks. The location and view are great but the facility needs more TLC. The room had no hair dryer, only one small garbage can, dead bugs, dirty phone receiver holder, empty Kleenex box, carpet needs cleaning, dirty coffee maker and tv was not working. Wobbly stairs and questionable balcony structural integrity. No continental breakfast. Will not go back here. read more

I wanted so badly to like this place. Despite the low ratings, I had hoped that they were inaccurate. Unfortunately, it was actually worse. My experience started well. The gentleman who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. But, beyond that, the room was just plain awful. It was a typical motel room, and it was clean. I even appreciated the mini-fridge, microwave oven, and coffee maker. I liked the small dresser, the four small tables, and the TV with HDMI. Very convenient. But, the bed was so uncomfortable that I hurt my back. The clips on the clothes hangers did not work. There were exposed electrical wires. The toilet paper was the lowest quality that I had ever experienced. The Wi-Fi was horrific. I had brought my PS4 to have some fun, but the poor Wi-Fi signal prevented that. If I could give zero stars I would. Do not stay here! I am pretty easy going and have stayed at less than four star motels but this was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. The women at the office was unfriendly and unhelpful. The room was filthy: sheets had stains and hair as though they had not been washed, fixtures were broken, bed hard as a rock, pillows cut up foam, toilet had mildew around the rim and garbage was in the tub. We tried to cancel our second night but no one would answer the office bell. We were overcharged for two nights--one of which we did not use. read more

Wow. There are dead bugs everywhere inside the room. Live ones too. The door isn't fully sealed, you can see outside when it's fully closed and locked. The bathroom door doesn't close, and if it did, the door knob is broken, so you'd get stuck inside. The pillows are the smallest I've seen in a hotel, they don't fit the bed, and there's only two. The bathroom door has dirty hand prints on it. There is a washer and dryer; the washer didn't clean anything, it was just a waste of $1.50. For over $100 a night, I at least expect there to not be bugs in the room and the door to fully seal. As the night went on, the live bugs from the outside came into the room through the crack in the door, and two very large spiders came out of hiding to eat said live bugs. When I asked for a new room, the owner argued with me that bugs happen here, and I should shut the door properly. I didn't open the door to let them in, they came in through the door. Eventually we were given a new room after arguing with the woman at the desk, insisting e get a new room or a refund. Since this is the only hotel in town we had to pick it. It really isn't much, but it was a place to sleep. The place is dated & could use work, new beds would make this place worth the money, as well as updated rooms. All in all the customer service is great they are really nice. This place wouldn't be a hotel that I would want to stay in every time I came to the area though. I need to feel comfortable & relaxed. This place could be a really cute hotel if they would invest in updating rooms and furniture! It would make customers want to return. Though the place is dated and the beds where awful it is clean & easy to get to the town. So really if you're just looking to rest your head with no fancy frills this place will do just fine. read more

The motel is very dated and in need of renovation. The room I was in was cleaner than the exterior of the motel. The motel needs pressure washed, rotten railing needs replaced, the railing and the doors need repainted. The exterior trash cans need to be placed elsewhere as the over-flowing cans of beer bottles do not present a pleasant picture. While my room was reasonably clean, it needs updated with new carpet, and repainted. There appeared to be long term guests at the motel who were happy to sit on the stairs and smoke cigarettes. TV doesn't work, nobody answers the phone at the front desk and barely come after awhile when you go down to the office for help, bedspread filthy, no dishes or pans in little kitchenette, phone in room does nothing, lamps beside bed are not wired in at all. Very subpar place. read more

I agree with the above poster, the people are sooo nice. The man who checked me in was pleasant and upgraded me from a double to a queen, and when the key didn't work fixed the lock quickly. This is a motel a it claims, not a hotel, but no better place to get a good nights sleep and be able to enjoy the gorge during the day. The waterfront is a three minute drive and views are spectacular. I even got a view of the river in my room! I'd definitely stay here again rather than paying at the very least double at any of the surrounding lodges. It is very clean, everything works, spacious light room and can't complain for the price, location, and service. Stayed again a few weeks later and they were good to me. Keep it up. read more

We booked a night here because we were attending a wedding nearby and all the nicer (affordable) hotels were booked. Still, we thought, how bad can it be for $99? We only needed to shower and sleep there and we didn't have much choice. Plusses: big room, friendly owner, a/c, fridge, microwave, king size bed, and location. However, we couldn't use any of the electrics as the power was out. When the power came back on we noticed: BLACK MOLD around the shower - eek! That, and the super thin, scratchy towels (only two), holes in the wall (?), the drawers in the dresser were falling off/broken so we couldn't use it, a broken sink plug, lots of cobwebs plus a really uncomfortable bed made me feel icky. This place is falling apart, dirty and not worth $99. Thank goodness we were only there for one night! read more

Yes I have experienced better, MUCH BETTER! The room was there when we needed one in a hurry, but.............party next door kept us up pretty much most of the night, carpet needs to be replaced. I have worked as a motel maid before and believe me there could be lots of improvement on the motel service as well. Definitely could use a MAJOR upgrade. And the price WOW gotta catch those wind surfers. read more

I stayed at the Rodeway Inn on August 2nd, 2019 and found the property through AAA.com. AAA rated this property two stars. This motel was way worse than the two stars AAA gave it and worse than the one star I am giving it here. I chose this motel as it was the only one in town that had a room available. The room was disgusting. The walls had "something" smeared on them and/or marked - very much in need of a cleaning and paint job. The decor was terribly in need of updating - we removed the bedspreads immediately. My flip flop literally stuck to the bathroom floor and the bathroom door didn't close all the way and then became stuck. When I went to check out in the morning, I found the lobby was locked up tight - didn't open until 9:00 I think. I just dropped the key in the box and we left by 6:30 am. We would NEVER stay at this motel again - we decided sleeping in the car would have been a much better option. read more

The bed was lumpy and there was a large stain on the bed spread. The door had to be slammed to close it and the door handle was falling off. The manager came in and said that the smell wasn't urine, it was paint. He told me that this was the best room he had and that there was nothing wrong with it. He refused to give me a refund! GROSS!, I can't even give this motel one star! Checked in Sat 4/28/18 The toilet was clearly not clean. The pillow cases were used and the phone was also sticky. Walls had patches of paint and were dirty. Carpet was also nasty. When we asked for our money back they said they could not refund it due to hotel policy. We paid in cash and 5 minutes later they can't open the drawer to give our money back?? WTF. Do not stay at this P.O.S. motel. Extremely filthy and will not give a refund when the rooms are clearly not clean. They had the nerve to offer us their Jacuzzi suite! Like I wan't a disease from that! Motel, not hotel, was reasonably priced for this time of year. The room was small and looked like it was hastily made up. There were two unopened 16 ounce Rainier beers left in the fridge and the bed spread was crumpled. The moldings were broken along the base in the door way to the bathroom and entry. Some coarse black hairs were along the wall in the bathroom. The neighbor to us was smoking some serious weed in their room and the smoke was wafting into deckway by our entry. This despite the $200 warning about smoking in the room. The night clerk was young and tattoo adorned. He was pleasant and accommodating, but made it clear there were no more rooms. If it wasn't the last room in the place, we would have switched rooms. There isn't much in Stevenson for lodging besides Skamania lodge, which is very nice and priced accordingly. The room was in disrepair and dirty. There was excrement in the toilet and the bathroom smelled like urine. The bathtub had pubic hair in it. My wife and I didn't even end up staying there because of the condition. We stayed at the best western across the river which was at least clean. Yelled really loud and a woman came out who didn't speak English who tried to tell us she can't get ahold of the guy who is suppose to check us in. Screw this place I have no idea if after driving all day I will ever be able to check in. Came back at 630 and fiannly got in. No explanation or apology from staff. NO breakfast as stated on website. This place was just plain dirty. Cobwebs in our room, dirty sink, stained sheets (I don't even want to know), and a grimy bathroom. I have stayed in 2 star hotels before that were much cleaner than this one. For the price it at least earned a second star but we left feeling iffy on the bedbug situation. Chose this place for the location (was attending a wedding in the area) and the price, but when we came home late at night on the second day, our room key wouldn't open the door and nobody was in the office/responding to the ringing doorbell. It was ridiculous and we had to call the front desk phone multiple times to finally get someone to let us into our room. It's safe to say we will splurge next time for a nicer place. read more

This is by far the most disgusting motel I've stayed in. We were there for a family wedding. The carpet was stained all over as well as the bathtub & toilet. The walls were filthy. Some of the other family members said there was mold around the bathtub in their room. The management was horrible & not customer service oriented at all. She accused us of stealing towels. There were not enough towels in the rooms so many of us asked for more towels. I don't believe anyone would want to steal them. They were so thin you could hardly dry yourself. Other recent reviews are not far off. Shower curtain mildewy, thin scratchy towels, and not enough toilet paper. There were questionable stains on the bedspread so it stayed on the floor. Harsh industrial overhead lighting. One dresser drawer worked, the others were stuck shut. If you appreciate trains going by 2-3 times per hour where the tracks are 100 yards away, or a host that knocks on your door two minutes after checkout time to remind you when checkout time is, this is the place for you. This place needs to keep getting negative reviews until they shell out the money to fix things up. Though during peak tourist season they'll likely be able to continue to operate as-is. I would give this hotel I 0 if possible. Place is a total dump. Stayed two nights. No maid service provided. tV was a 14", so small that you could not lay in bed and watch. Bed was hard as a rock, pillows were flat. Bathroom fan squeezed when used. So either take a shower in the dark or listen to the noice. Employees cars in parking lot were on jack stands. If this is a choice hotel, then I will never stay in a choice hotel again. This place makes Motel 6 look like a five star resort. No matter how bad you need a place to stay drive the 30 miles away.
