Unfortunately the cafe gets one star, the eggs and avocado I got last time was downright offensive. As in, this meal should not have been served/ left the kitchen. The avocado was rock hard, brown and unable to be mushed with a fork and $4, the eggs were greasy and burned brown. Oh no, this was disastrous, I returned the avocado as it was inedible and ate two bites of the burned eggs... over $12, really disappointing.

To my surprise and under astonishment I found Hood River Hostel and was able to make a reservation with less than 24 hours notice! The proprietors Lorena and Tim are friendly, accommodating, outgoing but most importantly they are people pleasers. I was greeted warmly on the phone and in person. They serve breakfast from 7 AM to 9:30 AM Monday through Friday and 8 AM to 10 AM Saturday and Sunday. This is the only meal they serve in the cafeteria however Lorena had the coffee brewing at 6:30 AM. The men's dorm is clean and quiet with a lockableprivate bath room attached. On the rare occasion that it's occupied a short stroll past the lobby and you will find two more restrooms that are unisex, one equipped with a shower. This is a pet free and smoking free facility so please note there is no smoking in The facility or on the grounds. Quiet time is posted so guess can be assured of their undisturbed sleep. The bed was very comfortable the and the linens smelled fresh and clean. This is a new business that they started this summer so they are still working out a few kinks. Be patient with them as they went way out of their way to make me feel comfortable, happy and welcome. What an incredible fine in the Columbia River Gorge for only $54 per night for the shared dormitory. A single private room is $69 during peak season.

This place is bananas. I spent two weeks here and here's what happened:…read more This is a converted grade school where the owners just moved out the school stuff and threw beds into the rooms. All the other school stuff is still there, and the rooms don't have any of the basics (like closets) that you'd expect. I watched the woman who owns the hostel chase and scream at a female guest (who had only asked her a question) to the point where the guest locked herself in her room while the owner continued to scream and pound on her door. If you read the other reviews you will see similar behavior. This place only has one shower for the entire hostel. That's one shower for about 30 people. They claim to have security but the front door was never locked, I only saw staff there four or five times during the whole two weeks, and while each room has a key to lock the door any key works in any door. Because it's so cheap the locals like to come here to rent a room and get drunk. Really enjoyed the guys in the room next to me drinking all night and barfing until noon the next day. And despite the photos this place is not clean at all. There is a washing machine but it's got quite a bit of black mold in it. You can see photos in other reviews. Avoid this hostel at all costs.

I've taken all the Mazamas climbing classes and now I help with many of them. BUT, FEAR NOT, you don't have to be a Mazama to stay here, not at all (and you might even enjoy the experience MORE if you don't know anything about mountaineering). Think of this as your hostel on the mountain! You can get a bunk here for pretty cheap, probably cheaper than anywhere else in the area. The only catch is that you'll have to hike about 5 minutes to get to the lodge and you have to bring your own bedding. If that sounds too stressful for you, I'm not sure what you're doing on Mt Hood...I hear there are some nice beaches in Florida. There is a huge drying room downstairs, the main room has a rustic fire place, and the top level has all the bunks. You can see the summit of Mt Hood from the rear deck, you can walk to "down town" government camp if you want to experience some rousing night life, historical photos and objects adore the walls, what more could you want? The staff here works hard and is incredibly friendly. You can get a hot dinner or breakfasts and dine with the staff and the other guests; you can even get a sack lunch if you plan to be up on the mountain all day.

The area this hotel is in is a bit sketchy but that's no fault of the hotel, just be aware when walking around especially at night.

They robbed me of one night and then sent the cops down to evict me because I had showed my ID but I had my ID stolen at the local plaid. I had provided a local ID via alternative means, including my power bill from Orlando... And a screenshot of a previous ID with the same license number and verified identification. Portland is not like Washington and does not require a scan for every single check-in. They misrepresented themselves and absolutely put me out on the street when I needed housing. This is why they are getting one star from me. I very rarely log into this account, but I am a very important person, and I am also very influential through alts on social media. This is not a reflection on the person who booked the reservation. It is a reflection on the management of the society and I do not retract a single thing.

They have everything you may need - soap in the shower (bring towels), free water, free social events (cider and wine tastings, city tours, live music), a cafe with food and drinks, and several buildings with rooms. I really appreciated that my 4-bed, all-female room only had me and one other person in it throughout my 4-night stay. I appreciated they don't try to cram the rooms full. I really liked that the bathrooms are private. Each floor has 4 private bathrooms, each with a shower. Each bad has its own bed lamp, charging station, and personal fan. There aren't any bed curtains, though. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great and only a 10-20 minute walk into the city. Street parking is available for less than $5 a day. Would choose to come back and stay here again!

We enjoyed multiple hikes, swimming in the pristine Columbia River, cooking our meals in the fully equipped commercial kitchen, laughing by the outdoor fireplace in the beautiful courtyard, visiting the Wildlife Refuge and wine tasting. I love the scavenger hunts and the stamps force you to do things you might not normally do on your own accord. - The full pitch and putt course is a relaxing and a fun way to spend a few hours. It was only $25 per person and took us 3 hours. - I signed up for the Makers Tour and highly recommend it! Lots of tastings and great historical facts along the way. - The soaking pools at night were perfect to relax muscles right before bed plus no kids after 8pm. - This hotel doesn't revolve around children. The movies that were showing were rated R and most of the pubs and pool hall are 21+. Kids are welcome - but I've never seen that many kids around which I like, personally. - It's very Dog Friendly!! - The live music is incredible. I've been here for big concerts on the lawn plus mini concerts down the winery hall. They were all amazing. - It can get noisy between 7-11pm especially in weekends! The building is old - not sure about insulation and things! Bring some earplugs, a positive attitude and maybe enjoy an extra drink! Or go during the week for a quieter experience. - The food is a bit pricey but if you are doing the passport it makes a little more sense. Some of my favorites are the Cajun Tots, Portland Dip, any Burger, and the Bagel and Lox Breakfast is Incredible!!!

The Highlights * ​The Saltwater Outdoor Pool: This was the absolute highlight of our stay. The water is kept at a perfect 38°C (100°F), making it incredibly relaxing. I highly recommend visiting after 8:00 PM when the pool becomes an 21+ area. * Thoughtful Details: The robes provided were high quality and very comfortable. Pro-tip: Be sure to bring flip-flops for the walk to and from the pool area. * Art & Dining: The murals throughout the hotel are fascinating to look at. We also had great experiences at the on-site bars and the Black Rabbit Restaurant, where both the food and the service were excellent. The Room & Stay Quality ​We specifically booked a room with a private bathroom and shower. However, most rooms at this location utilize communal facilities. Unfortunately, our room was located very close to the shared bathrooms and lavatories. Due to a complete lack of etiquette from other guests using those facilities, it was extremely noisy throughout the night. Because of the poor sleep quality and the noise levels, we likely won't be staying here again. It's a beautiful property, but the layout and noise issues made it difficult to fully enjoy our birthday celebration.
