Random TP holder on the back of door? Why not just remove it and paint the door? odd

Sadly, I cant recommend the hotel. Besides the loud train that comes by often (which they cant control) the place is just not comfortable. No A/C even though it states they have A/C. (the window rattlers, hadnt been installed yet apparently). no TV's, no breakfast, stains on carpet and furniture, restaurant was closed for the season and limited dining options nearby. Overpriced for what you get. More like a 1900's HOSTEL vibe, instead of a hotel.

Dining area for us at breakfast.

The staff is genuinely welcoming and accommodating; the decor is a finely manicured cabin woodsy with very well thought out nuance: a play area for kids and family on the other side of a little wood bridge crossing a beautifully babbling brook; ACTUAL keys for doors instead of keycards; wheeled dining chairs so as not to scratch the wood floors; a little wood stove for heating in each room; wagon wheels rested against the fence lines and flowered window boxes adorning each front room window. The space is well planned and very conscious choices were made to effectively maximize the available space. There's not all that much to do in this sweet little mountain community as far as city folk are concerned - but to me - that's the appeal. If you want to breathe deep; slow down; settle in; read a book; play some cards; take a walk; chat with a friendly stranger, throw a line in the water or take a country drive - here is where it's at. Here is where you go and here is where you stay. Love this - all of it

The front desk keeps very limited hours, so be sure to arrive early enough to be able to check in. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, and check-in was very prompt. I was very surprised by and appreciative of the no-charge room upgrade when I checked in (bigger room than what I'd reserved). There are also electric vehicle chargers on-site, if you have the need. Parking is the only real drawback, that being that there are very few parking spaces in the paved lot, so most visitors' vehicles needed to park in the dirt / gravel area behind the hotel. Prices are far more reasonable than the hotel right next door.

The Retreat's massive original beams are truly something to behold. Finishes are stunning, yet have an old-world vibe, reminiscent of a European stone inn, but with high-end, classy finishes and elite appliances. We have fond memories of this space when it was formerly a quaint micro brewery; now we're staying in the converted brew works that is ideally located in the heart of Hood River. If you're not familiar with this town, you will be equally blown away by the sensational geology and twin volcanos separated by the Gorge itself. The owners are deserving of world-class design and construction awards and for this phenomenal lodge. Combined with their concierge level of service, Horsefeathers is a true gem.

The lodge sits on a 72 acre orchard, which also includes some farm lands that houses a couple of Alpaca and a bunch of sheep's. There were the three of us for 4th of July weekend and we booked the Mt. Hood room, and the River room. Both rooms are next to each other and had a patio with a picturesque view of Mount Hood. Both rooms had very comfortable beds, and all the amenities you need. Coffee, WiFi, towel, popcorn, glassware, shower amenities, and the best of all, heated floors in the bathrooms! Price per night rate comes with breakfast, and let me tell you! Breakfast was AMAZING! I actually was looking forward to breakfast every morning. It wasn't just the same skimpy toast, eggs and bacon kind of breakfast, but it was a nutritious and filling breakfast menu that changes every morning! It definitely filled me up until dinner time! Overall I recommend this place if you want a gorgeous, serene, and picturesque getaway! I felt at peace when I returned home. PS: Oscar the farm cat! Very friendly and will greet you every morning!

Sakura Ridge provided a very comfortable stay with everything that we needed to unplug and relax. There were many small details that we appreciated- a beautifully designed and very clean room, comfortable bed and sheets, heated floors, snacks and drinks in the common area (hot cocoa, tea, soda, popcorn), and guidebooks, cookbooks, and maps for guests. The breakfasts were delicious and carefully prepared by Deanna. We had fresh lamb sausage, cherry tomato and goat cheese tart, scrambled eggs with chives, and sorrel salad. The second day, we had a cream cheese omelette, ham wrapped asparagus, and fresh blueberry scone. Deanna also made a berry smoothie both mornings. John was very kind and taught my husband how to feed their lambs on the second morning. We met him at 8am and my husband got to feed 3 lambs at one time! I have to say, it was a unique and fun experience. We stayed in the Orchard Room, which was great. It was built as an addition in 2007, so it has a separate entrance and felt very private. The bathroom was well appointed with a marble walk-in shower and soaking tub. We had a private balcony overlooking the chickens and lambs on the farm, and it offered an AMAZING view of Mt. Hood. One of the best things about Sakura Ridge is that it's situated on a farm with animals (lambs and chickens) and fruits (pears, apples, peaches, plums, and berries) and vegetables. We highly recommend staying here and would love to return in the summer.
