Visited this winery during our recent visit to Hood River. We entered in around 4:20pm and they close at 5pm. The staff was not happy about us walking in at that hour clearly. Anyways we ordered the tasting really quick and even the staff behind the wine bar was not too keen on helping us out in making some good choices. For the tasting, you get to pick which wines you want so I ordered these vines- Pear Vine, puerto montana, barbera, riesling, rose & cab sauv. Honestly i loved their puerto montana but wasnt a fan of the rest. The views from this winery are phenomenal. My friend got a full pour of their pear wine and trust me the full pour was just a little more than a single tasting glass. My friend did ask them if this was their full pour and they said yes. Great place to spend some time with friends with amazing views of Mt.Hood but I personally have had better wine and friendlier service in the area. read more

Beautiful views, great whites but so-so reds. But what really irked me was they did a bait and switch on the wine-tasting fee. When we arrive one service staff person explained that tasting were $20/person and would be offset if we were to buy a bottle. There were two of us and she explained that if we bought two bottles then both tasting would be free. When we decided to buy two bottles and checked out a different person (likely a manager or owner or son of the owner) refused and explained only one tasting would be waived. This was one of 5 wineries we visited that weekend and all the others waived a tasting fee for each bottle purchased. So I found it petty on their part to ding us with this bait and switch! read more

The indoor tasting room is bright with high ceilings, a fireplace on one end and several different seating and gathering spaces. If it's windy or cold, you will most likely have to wait for a table if you want to sot inside. They don't have wait service here; you line up to order and pay at the bar then bring your tasting tray or bottle to your table. The outside area wraps around the venue on two sides with views of Mt. Hood. If it's a warm day, this is where I prefer to sit, especially if Mt. Hood is wearing her winter snow sweater! There are various seating options with Adirondack chairs and tables on both sides of patio. Dogs are welcome outside. On a recent fall day, we did the red wine tasting inside. The flight started with a 2019 Pinot followed by a 2018 Merlot, a 2018 Zin, a 2017 Summit red (which was a blend) then ended with a 2018 Syrah. The last two were my favorites as they were bigger, bolder and jammy. Great with pizza, red meat or just drinking with a charcuterie plate. When friends come to visit I select a winery with beautiful view of Mt. Hood and a winery with views of Mt. Adams. Hood River Vineyards obviously is the Mt. Hood view! Since wine is so personal, this allows them to try a flight while enjoying picturesque views and ambiance, and then they can decide if there are bottles they want to purchase. It took me a while to gather my thoughts and decide how I wanted to word my review of this place. Reading other Yelp reviews in see that there are some "interesting" characters posting here.... and that was my take on the typical patron there: interesting. And I mean interesting in a somewhat pejorative way. That is to say, not exactly my kind of people and I'm sure it's mutual. I'm not a wine person and, in fact, I rarely drink alcohol anymore. But I have to agree, tongue in cheek, with the Coors light reviewer. I probably would have been happier with a pint of Colorado kool-aid too. No minus stars for that though since this is a winery and not a saloon! I only stopped because the young lady I was traveling with wanted to experience the place. Showed up on my Harley, wearing leathers and my US Military veteran patches. Walking into the place it felt like I had just landed on Mars. Suffice it to say that I was quite the curiosity. So much for the yuppies and their "inclusion". The grounds were absolutely amazing. Great view of Hood. This place is probably stunningly gorgeous around the harvest season when colors change. The fare was ok. She said it was great so I will defer to her on that. The staff seemed hard working, attentive, friendly and accommodating. I have no sense for what prices are at wineries but I didn't need to take out a loan to entertain my friend so the experience seemed reasonably priced to me. I do have to wonder about people who just show up hoping to get a free buzz. This is, after all, a for-profit business, right? You can buy a couple of bottles to take with you or you can pay a fee to sip away for "free". I'm guessing $15 barely covers their overhead cost to serve and clean up after you. read more

This was one of our first stops ! We did a wine tasting. I was a bit surprised when the first thing we were asked when we walked in was if we were tasting. Fair question, but how about a hello first or a friendly greeting? So I felt like that was a bit rude for an introduction to this place. THe venue was beautiful. Big picture windows overlooking the vines and flowers. Beautiful artwork on the wall. You got 5 tastings for the price and so we just split one. The wines weren't the best but we bought one bottle. We've been spoiled by the wineries that we are part of, so overall we weren't too impressed but for the venue and views it was an enjoyable stop! read more

We had some places to visit and I wanted to go to a winery that had the amazing view of Mt. Good in the background. I did some research and all that I could find is a place where you had to pay a lot of money to do wine tasting and sit outside to enjoy the view. Another location had two winery locations and you had to sign up for the premium wine tasting to have the view. Not this location. $15 for 5 wine tastings of your choice white or red. When you arrive, you check in and start a tab. I got the White Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Zinfandel, Summit and Pinot Noir. You mark it down and they fill your glasses up. We came outside found a picnic table and we all sat on one side of the table to capture the amazing view of the mountain with our wine glasses. Everyone enjoyed the wine. My two favorite were the White Pinot Noir and Summit which was a blend of 4 wines. Each wine complimented each other. Everyone was so nice. When I purchased a glass of wine, I went inside and told the lady who I was and received great and prompt service. I was very impressed with this place. I know their is many wineries around but I'm so sold that when I get home, I'm signing up for the wine club. I got to have that white Pinot noir at home. I read the history of this place. To think it started 20 years ago and where they are today is incredible. Best wine stop in Oregon. read more

Staff was incredibly rude. They accused me of not paying my tab when I had literally just walked in the door and was buying a bottle as a gift. My friends and I had a reservation for 3pm and they started pushing us out the door at 340, I'm aware that they close at 5. They were trying to pack our stuff up, came to the table several times to tell us they close at 5 and last call was 430, and were just incredibly pushy in general. It's a shame because the wine was decent and the view was lovely but the staff completely ruined my friend's birthday and left us all feeling gross when we left. We bought several bottles of wine so it's not like we were wasting their time or taking up space. I wouldn't waste my time here when there are many other lovely vineyards with friendly staff in the area. read more

The 2 stars is only because I really liked the wine. Don't show up to this winery within a 3 hour window of 5pm. The employees treat you like you have no concept of a closing time, remind you constantly that they close and when last call is, even an hour and a half before it was happening. While the views were great, the whole experience that we drove an hour to have was kind of ruined. read more

Let me start off by saying that I do not like giving out low-star reviews because I understand what businesses have to go through, but in this case, I think people should really know. If this review was based solely on service, it would have been one star. The only reason I'm giving it two is because the property was amazing. It had a gorgeous tasting room and an even more gorgeous patio that I can only imagine it being amazing during the spring/summer months. Last week, I wrote a blog post about the three wineries we visited during a recent trip to the Hood River area and one of the wineries we visited was Mt. Hood. In my blog, I indicated that when we went to get our wine tasting, we were greeted by a fairly rude lady that kind of hampered our overall experience. I didn't mention it to be mean, but I wanted to tell the truth so people know what to expect. It also seems that from other Yelp reviews, people had similar experiences with the same lady. Today, the lady in question must have found my blog post. She decided to confront me about my opinion on Facebook saying that my blog post was "insulting and in poor taste." I was shocked! I have no personal feelings against her, but was taken aback that she had to personally attack me instead of reflecting on herself. Again, the property was amazing and you should go there to experience it, but I just wanted to warn everyone of the potential "service" that you might encounter once you get there. read more

We came here in the afternoon. The place is nice and they had some cool outdoor seating. We originally sat inside by the fireplace that was not on. Wow. It would have been so nice if they had it going. The team pouring the wine were very friendly. They shared some great information about their wine. The pours/tastes were on the weak side. That would be my negative about the winery. As far as the wine goes, it was good. Not great. We focused out 5 tastes on the reds. We eventually migrated outside and sat n some chairs that had a view of Mt Hood. There were several bachelorette parties going through and they were having fun. Parking was easy and plenty of it in the back. If you take the Mt Hood railroad train and option for the wine section, they serve or taste wine from here. It also passes behind. Top notch service, amazing wine, and with beautiful views!!!! We had a great experience! We loved the wine and the atmosphere except for a very rude patron (who I see left a nasty review). She was loudly and publicly lecturing one of the owners. Our party was shocked at how this woman was behaving towards the owner. Her rude comments and nasty behavior disturbed many of the other visitors. Infact her demonstration was topic of conversation amongst many strangers after her party left. However, we were pleased at how the owner handled the situation. Not only did she show empathy for the woman's frustrations, but she gave them complimentary tastings and bottles of wine as an apology. read more

The view of mount Hood from the huge picture window in their tasting room, was the perfect backdrop to a relaxing afternoon sipping some delicious wine. We walked in, were informed of their wine tasting fee, and walked out! US $15 US per person, which is waived with a purchase of TWO bottles of wine. So for my wife and I, it would still cost US $15 after buying two bottles of wine? I don't think so.... We've visited numerous other wineries (Okanagan, Willamette Valley, etc.) and have NEVER seen such exorbitant tasting fees. Many wineries in the Okanagan charge no tasting fee at all. But we noticed expensive tasting fees at Hood River wineries generally. We really enjoyed our first visit to Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge area and had plenty of great experiences. We had a visit at this winery as part of the rail cycle tour. The rail cycle was great fun and the employees were informative and professional. Also The Fruit Company tour was pleasant and have some of the best apples I have ever had. As for the winery - The grounds and facilities are beautiful. There customer service was unfortunately unfriendly and not accommodating. As we entered the winery a woman asked in a gruff voice if we were there to do a tasting and if we were with the cycle tour. Not even a "Hello or Welcome greeting". As it turns out we were informed that we would not be able to do a tasting because of the cycle tour turnaround. We were offered to buy a glass. Interesting note there were only 4 other visitors in the winery - so not sure how it is was that we wouldn't be offered a tasting of 4 wines in a 30 minute window. At any rate we sipped on our glass of wine while this same woman walked around barking orders at the employees and making the view folks inside feel uncomfortable. At the end of this whole experience we walked away and will not make our way back for another visit. I recommend they hire a greeter that will welcome visitors and make them feel at ease to be able to enjoy the wines and view. read more

They offered a good selection of reds and whites! The tasting fee is waived if you purchase $50 worth of wine...which is about two bottles. Bottles ranged from $18-$38. The patio area with the lounge chairs was a great place to sit, sip wine and take in the views of Mount Hood and the vineyard. Definitely make it a spot on your next wine tour! read more

Overpriced tasting with small pours and no customer service. We paid $30 for 2 tastings and left a gratuity prior to receiving our tasting. The bartender poured our tasting and left it on a bar tray on the bar and said "There ya go". We carried it to our table with the info and the staff played with their phones in the distance. No one stopped over, offered any information, or even some water. Been to many tastings and this was by far one of the worst experiences. It's to bad because the wine was very enjoyable. read more

Again another small family winery, this one being near the Columbia Gorge along the peaceful and verdant country roads of Hood River Valley.
