I am remiss to have taken months to do my review. My friend Erin has a membership with Cathedral Ridge and she booked four of us in for a barrel tasting. I'd never had Cathedral Ridge Wine before except a sip at Erin's house from a bottle she had open. We booked a weekend trip to Hood River basically just for this barrel tasting. I cannot emphasize enough how GOOD this was. Anna was our host for our barrel tasting and she was absolutely wonderful. I've had a lot of good food and wine that I've reviewed but I honestly would give this 10 stars if I could. We had SUCH an incredible experience. We learned about the wines, vintages, AVA where they were grown, history on Cathedral Ridge itself and of course we drank! The photos really don't do it justice. The barrel tasting room is cozy and welcoming. It felt luxurious in a way like Joanna Gaines had come in and styled it. We had one GF (with a severe allergy,) and one vegan so we were allowed to bring in a couple of snacks. They were so accommodating. I felt like I could have spent all day there drinking CR wine and relaxing. It was for all four of us the epitome of a perfect girls weekend. The winery is very nice, clean, I LOVED the bathroom, and the wine. Oh the wine. We all bought 3-6 bottles. It is fabulous wine. Great bold reds don't do it justice but they are bold reds with BIG flavor. I selfishly want to make this an annual girls trip because everything about it was perfect. And no wine lived up to this once we had this experience. I cannot recommend Cathedral Ridge more. And Anna was pinnacle to us having a truly wonderful experience. Thank you so much Cathedral Ridge for a wonderful day and the best part of our girls weekend.

A friend and I were visiting the area and saw great reviews for Cathedral Ridge! We made a reservation for a tasting to make sure we would get a spot, but luckily, going in the middle of the week in the morning meant we had the entire winery to ourselves The lovely woman who took care of us let us choose anywhere we wanted to sit, so we sat right by the windows looking over the vines towards the river. It was a magical spot because partway through our tasting a rainbow spread across the entire sky and stayed there! It was breathtaking! The wines themselves were very tasty. I'm a white wine drinker myself, but I could definitely appreciate how tasty the reds are here too. The tasting allows you to choose from a wide variety of options so my friend and I each chose different wines to try. The tasting is generous and a great experience. Highly recommend! On a lovely day, this would be a fantastic place to grab a bottle of wine, sit outside, and just enjoy life!

They had me at Big, Bold Reds! In a state known for Pinots, it was refreshing to find a winery that had such a great selection of bigger reds across many price points. And the view of Mt. Adams from their vineyard is spectacular! Along with stellar service, Cathedral Ridge is a great place to start your day of wine tasting. I say start because they are one of the first wineries when you take the first Hood River exit coming from Portland. We loved the Necessity Red - and agree with the name! Perfect drinking wine for a charcuterie board and so many meals. We also really enjoyed the Cabernet and Syrah. The tasting room inside is small and a bit too dark for me. The gem is the side yard where in the summer, flowers cascade over trellis and overflow from pots, with views of the vineyard and Mt. Adams to the west. It's beautiful any time of year, but April through mid November is best. On your way out, make sure to look up and catch a gorgeous view of Mt. Hood. Around every corner there is such beauty in Hood River.

Was mentioned about this place at a small park by a beautiful couple that were picking up their wine. Great recommendation. Place is cute, they have wonderful red wines, the staff is very accommodating and simply wonderful in describing the wine and allowing us to sit back and relax in their property. Fell in love with their Malbec, so crisp and delicious. Indoor seating area is very nice and spacious, and so is their outdoor seating with a lovely view of mountains and the peak of Mount Adams.

Our host Lori was by far the best host we have had at any winery we have ever been to. She was so kind and knew exactly what our pallets would be inclined to based on what we told her. Just an overall amazing experience. We left with a bottle of Syrah and Cabernet that were lovely. Can't wait to come back.

Nice and casual winery near the Portland area offering both red and white wines to your liking. Accommodating staff whom are nice to engage with. Order a charcuterie board and indulge in nice tasting local wines.

Been members here over a year. Quick knowledgeable staff can handle a crowd with ease. Wines are top notch. View is top notch. Give this one a shot. They set our bar.

We had a terrific experience at Cathedral ridge. We called the day before and made a reservation and were glad we did because it was a busy weekend afternoon. Exceptional service. Our server was fun, engaging and very knowledgable (Anna). We loved the Large Selection of wines available for the tasting. The reserves were the best. Enjoyed the Malbec, Zinfandels and Cabernet the best! Lovely setting on the patio. Generous tasting of 6 wines (4 regulars and 2 reserves) for $20 and a deduction off the tasting for each wine purchase. Our favorite of all the vineyards we visited over the weekend.

One of the best wineries that we visited in the area. The lady who helped us was so sweet and told us of all these great places to stop and eat or get fruit. We tried six wines and purchased their Pinot noir and chocolate sauce! If I was in the area I would come again!

Delicious wines in a beautiful Hood River location. Friendly staff. Loved the Reserve Reds, particularly the Cabernet Sauvignon.

I'm not a white wine or Pinot girl, and Jayne told me that the owner, Robb, has a "big and bold" philosophy with his wine.

Hood, Mt. Adams, and the idyllic Hood River. Normally a DIY traveler, I can say with complete confidence that the decision to book with MountNbarreL is worth it, whether you are a resident or visitor escaping into the sun-soaked beauty of Hood River wine country. My husband and I took the Original Oak Grove (OG) Tour. Ali, the owner, greeted us with mango kombucha and bottled water and set us up with comfortable, well-tuned cruisers. The bikes are outfitted with deep handlebar baskets to hold any vintage gems you find in the historical Oak Grove Store and clever wine bottle baskets on the back. The route is carefully chosen to be accessible for all levels of cyclists, and if you decide you must have a case of that amazing Viento Riesling, fear not - MountNbarreL's shuttle can pick up purchases on the way so you don't have to take everything with you. The details took this day to the next level. Ali and Sydney bookend the group while cycling so you can enjoy the scenery and views safely. We were pampered with treats throughout, like a charcuterie plate to go with our Italian-style wine tasting at Marchesi and lunch and snacks from Farm Stand in the Gorge (a local cafe and artisanal grocer) while picking blueberries and enjoying a private tour of Phelp's Creek vineyards. What struck me most is that Ali really partners with local wineries and businesses and is an integral part of the Hood River community. This really shows in her deep knowledge of the local wineries, and the warm reception and hand-selected tastings at each stop. I can't imagine a better way to experience Hood River!

The 35 mile loop in Hood River Valley is peppered with farms and vineyards, many with farm stands or tasting rooms so you can sample and purchase the heavenly fruits, jams, pies, wines, hard cider, flowers and treats along the way. For me the ride is as exhilarating as the farm stands. Around every corner you catch glimpses of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams, depending on the direction you're heading, snow capped and standing tall and proud against a bright blue sky with rolling hills and vineyards in the foreground. As you head up 35, Mt. Hood becomes so large it spans the entire windshield of your car. Pull over on the side shoulder for some magnificent snapshots. During spring the hills are white and pink from the fruit tree blossoms creating incredible landscape images that are instagram worthy! The Cider Festival in April is worth the trip, pick up the map and visit the various cider houses for flights or pints. In the summer, visiting the lavender farms is a must! Rows and rows, acres and acres, of purple waves making for a wonderful backdrop. Blueberries, Marionberries, strawberries and cherries can be picked at many farms. Late summer, the sunflower farms are just stunning. Fall brings the Harvest festival with barrels of every varietal of apples and pears imaginable, and all things made from them! Of course there are pumpkins, gourds and corn as well. Most vineyards and stands have picnic tables outside so you can purchase and enjoy a meal and drinks right in the gardens and vineyards, perfect right now during Covid-19 times. Allows you to get out and enjoy the beauty of nature, safely. As you leave downtown Hood River you will see a sign for Panoramic Point. Turn and make this your first stop. The gates are currently closed so you can't drive your car up the hill, but it's worth parking and walking up the hill for the aptly named panoramic vista you will encounter. Next, visit the Gorge Whitehouse, my favorite and a must stop. The big White House with black shutters is located on a magnificent piece of property. The hills in muted shades of green and gold with fields of flowers and apple & pear orchards in the foreground is so stunning it almost looks like a painting. Get a pint of their pear-lemon cider and some snacks from the food truck and sit at a picnic table and just relax, enjoy, take it all in. Make sure to buy fresh picked cherries to take home! And a growler of the cider because you can only buy it there. You will thank me. A little further down the road is a Packer Orchards for fresh berry pies, cookies, jams, syrups and ice cream. Stop at Draper Girls Cider for delicious small batch ciders. In Parkdale, Solera Brewery has one of the best views of Mt. Hood from the picnic tables out back. Get an adult beverage and enjoy their pulled pork bowl, which is basically pulled pork nachos, and enough for two. There is always something spectacular to do and see along the Hood River Fruit Loop. It's a place I visit several times a year and never tire of it. Each season brings new vistas and bounty. The drive out there is just as gorgeous making it a pleasurable day trip or weekend. Go. Eat. Drink. Photograph. Enjoy.

Fast forward, we planned a stop at Loop De Loop after hiking Multnomah and Wahkeena Falls. It was one of the best surprises of the whole trip to Oregon. I expected Loop De Loop to be a small, modest vineyard and instead I discovered an absolutely stunning vineyard nestled in the picturesque hills of the Columbia Valley. I opted for the full tasting and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the breadth and diversity of the wine offerings. And the wine is made organically!!! We actually enjoyed the wine and experience at Loop De Loop more than any vineyard we visited in Williamette Valley. We also tried the cheese plate and tinned fish, which were delicious. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating. I love the decor and art throughout the building. Service was really good. I dont recall the name of the young woman with red hair helping us out, but she was fantastic. This place gets pretty busy so I recommend reservations. Definitely check it out! Even if you're in Portland, it's worth the quick trek into Washington.
