Not impressed with Gordon Electric's customer support. Ordered a rather expensive Intermatic electrical enclosure, took almost a week to receive. Upon opening the box we found out that tthe manufacturer forgot to include both mounting brackets. Numerous calls with follow-up emails were made over the next several days. Finally received an email from Gordon Electric a couple of days later with a short note that said the parts were to be sent directly from the manufacturer. No tracking number, no shipping address nothing. Today is August 22nd, still no parts. Original order was place August 3rd. Normal business's would have provided an RMA number and shipped a new unit in the meantime. Unfortunately, I cannot endorse companies that espouse to be internet efficient but can't resolve simple ordering issues. read more

Terrible customer service. We ordered a shipment on 11/7/19 and were told it would ship out the following day, in plenty of time, for our 11/18 install. (They managed to bill us and get the money from our bank by the 8th!) It was not shipped until 11/13, FIVE days after promised, and we will not get our shipment in time to please our customer. We called the office and "Greg" could not have cared less, and told us to send an email to customer service, which we did, requesting that they try to expedite with the shipper, for an early Monday delivery, and to please let us know what the outcome was, as we needed to update our customer in a timely manner. We called 3 hours later for an update, and after 3 other people answered the line, we were finally transferred back to Greg. Greg didn't seem to have any idea what we was calling about, as he had "had a whole lot of phone calls today". After reminding him of the details, he said "someone was probably working on it and they would get back to me". This was 9 minutes until they closed. We asked him how we would contact them after hours, if no one got back to us. He said he didn't know. When we asked him to check, he put us on hold and never came back to the line. We tried calling again 3 minutes before closing, and they had already turned on their answering machine. Not even a hint of an apology at any point in time. If our product arrives in time, I will come back and change this, but at this point it seems highly unlikely. UPDATE: Monday at 9:30 am (11:30 their time)-We still haven't had any return phone calls or updates from the company. read more

I was looking for clip-on shades and couldn't find any that were for standard and not chandelier bulbs. I was able to find them at Gordon Electric Supply. They fit perfectly and look great. Ordering online was easy and they were shipped in a reasonable amount of time. I'll be getting more clip-on shades from then in the near future. read more

I ordered fan grease filters for above my stove. When they arrived 1 was damaged. I took a picture of it and forwarded it in an email to them. They sent me replacements right away and they arrived in perfect shape. I will definitely look to them for any future purchases I need. read more

Gordon has everything I need but getting it is too difficult! Some order taker at the Kankakee store named ***** took my order (later I had to cancel due to the order taker's poor performance). Not certain I have ever had a customer experience quite like it. Seems that his brand of performance, customer service, promptness, courtesy, manners and professionalism would be more than any company could stand. I thought I was dealing with a government agent until I realized none of them are like that and most are much, much better. Does he wish to sabotage Gordon Electric? On the other hand, the lady who cancelled the order was both professional and decent to work with. I am sorry that her employment and success is tied to his. It was a pleasant experience dealing with the Sales department on my order. However, I ordered a Reflector assembly & Grille. The shipment arrived with the bulb assembly and Grille but no reflector. I called and was told that I ship what I ordered and without the reflector part number, I couldn't be helped. The point was, I ordered the reflector but did not receive one of the pieces. I finished the project by adapting the old light assembly to my old reflector. So, nice people, not so good at Customer Service. read more

Wow. Even with the bad reviews I thought I try to order from Gordon Electric Supply. Ordered online, received order confirmation. On web site said would ship out in 24-48 hours. Waited several days and after not hearing anything called in to see if order had shipped yet. Customer Service looked order up and told me it was "Canceled" by "Rob" and a full refund was issued. Sure would be nice if they let the customers know this. Never received any notice of order cancellation Seems this has happened before by reading through other reviews. I needed an electric sub panel mail circuit breaker for my photovoltaic array mains interconnect. Amazon is usually my goto source. They had one at a higher price and a 4-week lead time. Gordon Electric had the correct part on hand, and shipped it at a reasonable cost in a very timely manner. Amazon failed big time on this order and I was happy that Gordon Electric Supply showed they had the breaker and had it at a lower cost with no 4-week lead time that Amazon had. I should have looked at the BBB site before I ordered from them. Customer Service is anything but that. They have a product misrepresented on their site and have no concern for making it right. Placed my order 19 May. Even though it was in stock the receipt (after I paid -- no notice before completing my order) indicated it would ship 28 May. That date came and went with no email, no package, nothing. So I emailed on 31 May asking what was going on and saying I though the service was poor. Placed my order on a Monday and received a confirmation email shortly afterwards. A few hours later I then received an order update.. the order had shipped. I waited a few days, then logged into their website and my order showed indeed that it had shipped on the Monday.. but no tracking information was available. I waited until the following Monday (a whole week since the order had supposedly shipped) and called to ask if they had tracking information. I was told they couldn't find the order but they took note of the order number and assured me they would get me an answer later that morning. At 4:30pm I called as i had not heard back and I needed to schedule my team around the delivery of the items I had ordered. Customer service was quite dismissive and made it abundantly clear that they were working on this but it was at a "different warehouse" and it wasn't that simple but they would get back to me "first thing" the next day. Around 4pm that next day (shocking that no-one had reached out as promised) I called and again customer service was quite clear that they were inconvenienced by having to deal with this. This time however they were able find my order and see the tracking info but wouldn't share it when directly asked. They would only tell me the order was to be delivered the next day. The order did arrive the next day and it was indeed coming from a different warehouse.. direct shipped from the manufacturer down the road from us. It had been shipped the the day before and not a 8 days ago as shown on the Gordon Electric website. I'm secure enough to think this doesn't diminish the size of their company but Gordon Electric sure wanted me to think they have multiple warehouses all over the place and that was that they couldn't keep up with it should somehow reassure me that they weee on top of this. The next day I got a shipping confirmation email saying the order would be delivered yesterday. This was such a special situation but had they been honest and followed up as promised then it would have just been a minor annoyance. At this point unless I want confused dismissive customer service and orders that show up way later than promised from a company that would rather I think they mismanage multiple warehouses than that they forgot to put an order in with a manufacturer then I think I'll go anywhere else in future! I ordered a part online from Gordon on July 2nd. It initially said the item would be delivered on July 10th. On the 14th-15th no delivery. I called. Not shipped yet. On July 30th the absolute wrong item was delivered. Not sure why a Instamatic timer looks like a meter pan but that is what I got. Customer service was nice but my customer is still waiting. Bought a range hood off a classified ad and unfortunately, a part was missing. Gordon Electric not only had the part for half the price on Sears, but they offered to ship UPS so I would receive it the next day since I was also in IL. A little bit of pass the call in the beginning, but once I got to the right person, it was quick and easy to get the part necessary for the hood range to work properly. read more

Gordon Electric Supply came up on a parts search for my electrical project. They were helpful on the phone to find a couple parts, verify details on another, and all items were listed as in stock on the website. I placed the order which stated it ships in 5-7 days usually. I expected delays with Covid. However, after 2 weeks I had no order and no email updated. I called and was told two of the 3 parts I ordered were in transit. The following week, still no order, and no update. I called again and was told one item was backorder and would not be in for another month. The sales rep apologized that the information given was wrong. Some of the items I ordered are available at the local Home Depot and some at the CED Electrical Supply. I asked them to ship what they had and refund the items they did not have. This order was started has been pending for almost a month. It will be a month before I get a partial order. Awful customer service. They accused of us of being a fraudulent account, and even after we gave them all documents they asked for, they still treated us terribly. They then proceeded to charge our credit card for the order. We have had to e-mail them four times, to get a response as to when the order will ship. When they do respond, they tell us the charge declined, after they sent us a receipt showing it went through. Looking at our credit card statement we were able to verify the charge did not decline, and it in fact did go through. This company is very unprofessional. Never again. read more

Ordered some outlets. Beware, what came was different that the picture of the item. Their excuse was, well we have a statement that says pictures may be different. This statement is used for slight cosmetic differences, not for totally different products. Their pic was of something they don't even carry anymore but it had the same SKU as the item I needed. The lady that answered the phone basically said they don't have time, it was 5 minutes after they opened, She wanted to know if I wanted them to call back later and leave a voicemail. If they don't have time for a customer, then I have no time to waste waiting for them to call back. It was a good company, but that was years ago with the original owners. Now, it's "New and Improved", by new people that think they know how to do it better. On to the next call, there has to be someone that will want to do business. Slow boat shipping would get product to me in 2 days. 2nd day called them for status and tracking number. No call back, 3rd day called again to get status and tracking number, given tracking number and told " looking into status". Checked UPS tracking#, no info. Called their shipping/status rep. Product not shipped yet, they did not have in stock, shipping from mfg. days later. So, if you have a real need, do not rely on Gordon for accurate or truthful information.
