I ordered a 12 Topaz 4-inch lights from this company over two weeks ago. They offered next-day shipping for $250 and 2-day shipping for $145 -- I chose the 2-day option because I needed them fast. It's now been 16 days -- no lights, no email, no call, no update. Every time I try to reach someone, I get stuck on long holds, transferred around, or completely ignored. Half the time no one even answers. At this point, I've already filed a chargeback with my credit card company. What's disappointing is that I could've easily ordered from Amazon, but I wanted to support an actual shop -- big mistake. I live in Los Angeles, they're supposedly based in the Midwest, and I honestly can't tell if this is a bait-and-switch scam or just a completely dysfunctional company. The strangest part? Ordered online a outlet floor cover and because it was too small I wanted to return it. They said no, we can't accept return, then I contacted the manufacture (Hubbell) and they said that a return can be done in a period of one year. After contacting back Gordon they (Kaylyn O'Connell) said ok, we'll take it but with a restocking fee. Placed an online order on 3/15/22. Received an acknowledgment that the order was processed and my card charged (on 3/16/22). At that point, I saw that the ship date was set for 4/14/22. I replied on 3/17/22 (to Brad Robbins) asking for the order to be cancelled because that ship date was well beyond my reasonable expectations. After receiving no response, I again requested cancellation + acknowledgment on 3/19/22. Today is 3/22/22 and still no response, no refund, no nothing. After ordering I immediately received an email confirmation of my order and the item shipped via UPS the same day I ordered it. I received a UPS delivery notification and I received it 2 days after ordering (from Il to VA). The item arrived well-packaged and was exactly what I ordered. Then was told I could not file claim shipper had to. Gordon would not file claim or re-ship or give me my money back. Missing 7 connector on order at the end I was out over 350.00. I purchased light bulbs for my home (inexpensive bulbs that totaled about $12 for 4 bulbs) and had to pay $16 for shipping and $5 for a small freight fee (which I have no complaint with). The bulbs arrived completely shattered - I couldn't even open the box as you could just hear the small shards moving everywhere in the box. These weren't just cracked bulbs, they were completely crushed that I was afraid to open the package to get shards everywhere and cut myself. I reached out to customer service via email on a Saturday and heard back Monday morning and they stated they would credit my card for the cost of the bulbs, but the shipping they would do nothing about. I asked if I could get the order replaced being it arrived destroyed and they stated all they would do is credit the cost of the bulbs. In my opinion I feel the item should be replaced and reshipped being it arrived damaged. I'm not interested in paying $20 shipping/small freight for more $12 bulbs and hoping that they don't break in transit, knowing that if they do they company will not do anything about it. This is the first company I've encountered that will not send out a replacement order for a broken item/refusal to cover the shipping cost. The cost of the shipping isn't a huge problem, it's the point that I could continuously have this problem of the bulbs arriving broken and I just have to keep paying shipping and the company won't just re-ship them out. This is my first purchase with Gordon Electrical Supply and it did not go well. The product I purchased on Sept 12 was listed as "Availability: Usually ships next day". On Oct 22 I emailed and was informed that Gordon did not own the product, that it was being dropped shipped to me, that I would not be receiving a shipping notification, and that the "estimated" shipping date was Sept 27. On Oct 2 I requested a refund unless they could confirm that the item was in transit. I received the refund without hassle but without an apology for the inconvenience either. On the plus side, the customer service department was very responsive and the refund come through within a couple of days. Our order was placed on Nov 2 and was needed for an urgent project. We received an email confirmation. The website said it was available and ready to ship. On Nov 9 I emailed asking for a status update and tracking info. No reply. On Nov 13 I followed up again. No Reply On Nov 16 I woke up to an email stating the item was unavailable and our order was canceled due to not being compliant with T20 in CA. We understand T20 but what I don't understand is why it took 2 weeks to get this reply and why no one bothered to email a week ago when we first followed up. We could have made other arrangements or ordered something compliant Rather than just blindly cancel an order, I would suggest training your people to offer a substitute item and follow up in a timely manner. Please note that this review is specifically for their e-commerce division (online ordering), and not in-store service or pickup. I'm not sure how that is, as I live in Ohio, but hopefully it is better than most electrical supply houses in that cashiers are typically underpaid and not very knowledgeable about electrical work in general. I also must note I am grateful they have an e-commerce site, as many supply shops simply don't. But, the fact is, if they are going to run an online store, they need to do it better. Perhaps they just decided to jump into this field after having a physical location open for a time. That is my guess. However, the service I've received multiple times when ordering online is not acceptable. One time, I was given a delivery estimate, and the item ended up coming weeks later. I was never notified. However, the most recent was when I ordered three separate items. I received the initial automated email telling me they received the order. Then, the next day, I got an email from a salesperson acknowledging the order. I thought, great!, because there was one of the three items I was not sure id actually get (as I could not find it ANYWHERE else), but the acknowledgement and charge of my credit card told me to expect it. Well, I was wrong. About a week later, delivered a little later than expected, I received two of the three items. An invoice was in the box, and it listed the 3rd item as on back order. I thought, okay. Hopefully it'll be out soon (note, it was listed IN STOCK on their website). I waited. And waited. A month later, I'd had enough. I decided to reach out and find out what happened. I emailed a reply to the acknowledgment, and they told me what I already suspected: the item was actually NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. Go figure....they must have known that, as like I said I couldn't find it anywhere else online. But, due to their failures in e-commerce, they were happy to not only take my money, acknowledge my order, and even deliver a partial order with an invoice telling me the remaining items were on back order...but they made me wait a month and to REQUEST a refund for an item that no longer existed. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident, but another similar incident happened before. Gordon, thanks for what you do, but figure out a better way of running your online store. I ordered some product that I needed quickly, after a week I contacted them and they said some of it was discontinued. They were no help at all. I contacted the actual manufacturer and found out what was discontinued and what I could use to make my project work. I sent it back to the inside sales guy but here I am 3 weeks later doing the exact same thing. They have a "Gordon guarantee" but it seems to mean nothing. I called customer service today, they transferred me to sales, they transferred me to customer service, who transferred me back to sales and they did not answer. Awful experience! Ordered a Leviton switch on April 14th, with a planned delivery date of April 24th (which was a Sunday but OK, maybe it was just an estimation). Money was taken from my account right away (normal) and I received an acknowledgment for my order the next day (the 15th). Great! Then things went bad... A week later (the 21st), after not receiving any parcel nor tracking number for one, I sent an email to them. I'm still waiting for them to reply as of today... Finally, I received a notification from UPS my order was "shipped" on 5/2 (actually, the label was created on 05/02 and over two weeks after my order's date), it took a couple of days to physically get to UPS, UPS misdirected it, and I finally receiver my switch today, on 5/7. I could have ordered the same exact switch with The Home Depot and have it three days later (I order something from them at the same time and this is exactly what happened). Instead, I had to wait for over three weeks to save $15 (versus HD's price). Apparently, and based on the "repackaged" item I received, Gordon had to order the switch from somewhere else and then ship it to me, which explains why it took so long... Finally got someone on the phone and they said they would sort it out. Never heard back. Order arrived today (8/31) with only 2 out of 5 items without any notification of back order status or eta just a line saying they are scheduled for a future shipment.
