I already had a FOID card but knew I also needed to go through with a conceal carry class. I really like Waren Develle's way of teaching this class. He really interacted with the class, telling us about real life examples, teaching us what is required by law but also extra tips he has. As a result of his tips on how to become a good shooter, all of the members in my class has no misses with the exception of those who had either an ammunition or firearm malfunction. Develle also has a funny, down to earth, and easy character about him that makes it easy to connect with his students. Once we got to shoot for the first time, I know what it feels like to hold and shoot a firearm and feel much better having this experience. I found shooting to be fun and would pursue more knowledge in firearms training as well as gain more experience in shooting. I am looking to purchase my own gun in the future along with all the recommended accessories the instructor has recommended. I highly recommend taking a CCL class as the more we know about firearms the better and the safer we can keep our communities and neighborhoods. I believe in preparedness and in being responsible for our own lives and in being part of a healthy yet strong community.

The Class is completely FREE of charge, do not assume that the initial price paid will include the fee for the Concealed license, that fee is a additional $153.38 once you have finished the course and applied online. The shooting range is not in this establishment you have to go to another location for that part of the course. The instructor Mr. Devell is extremely knowledgeable in his task and he will make sure that when you leave his class you are as well. Mr. Devell can also be a bit condescending and can in my opinion use better peoples skills. Mr Devell also uses a lot of profanity during his class and does not take inconsideration the respect for Seniors. The classes never started on time and it was a lot of valuable information to cover. Is a bit unorganized as is only Mr. Devell teaching but also trying to multitask everything else so expect long wait lines for signatures and photos. The establishment is clean and the staff is very helpful. Did we learn? Yes Would I recommend someone to go? I would with a fair warning of all the things I mentioned before. We also decided to make a purchase and Ricardo Rodriguez was very helpful in answering all of questions and helping us with the online application process for the license.

They are definitely knowledgeable. The only reason they got 4/5 rather than 5 is because as I haven't bought a gun from them I can't rate on that. They also have a regular sporting shop on the main level which I have yet to visit. Upstairs they have archery supplies and safes. I don't use/buy either of those I can't give much information on that. But their shooting section is definitely top notch. *Regarding children: you rarely see them upstairs with the shooting and archery but on the main floor with the usual sporting equipment is all right. *The first floor is wheelchair accessible. I'm not sure about the second floor with the shooting, archery, and safes. But - they have to get those safes up there somehow. So, I'd call and ask.

One of the salesmen was assisting the customer with his firearm purchase. The other salesman was sitting behind the counter eating his lunch. He completely ignored me, despite me standing there with the pistol rugs in my hand and ready to pay. He never bothered to acknowledge my presence or ask if I needed help. I know that he saw me because he looked directly at me. When he finished eating he got up, threw his plastic fork in the trash and walked in the back while still never interacting with me. It was like I was completely invisible. Finally, another sales person came out from the back and asked if I was being helped. I said no, finally paid for my purchase, and left. I wonder what the store owner/manager would have to say if he reviewed the surveillance video.

I've been going to this range since the month they opened their doors, and I happily keep going back! This is the epitome of what a "clean range" should be. It has the best HEPA filters in the ranges and it never smells of powder. The employees are all so very nice and helpful, usually with a does of comedic relief. Communications were handled via email and everything went as smooth as it could. Bernadette and Jeff are some of the friendliest people that I've met in this community and I will certainly be doing business with them again in the future. One thing to note - some FFL's will start the waiting period at the time of sale as described by the Illinois State Police as it relates to gun sales and transfers. Some FFL's will start the waiting period as soon as you fill out the Form 4473. It's neither here nor there as to who is doing this correctly but at the end of the day, your FFL policies is what you end up following. North American Firearms starts the clock upon filling out the 4473 so just keep this in mind. Best bet is to make the online purchase, head over to fill out the 4473, and by the time your firearm is received by them your background check should be clear and you're good to go.

I struggled with operating some of the guns because as part of the class, a variety of guns were rapidly introduced to the class. Then each student would try to operate each of the guns; but because I have small fingers, I was not able to manage all of the guns. The way she spoke to me in front of the whole class, made a scene, was humiliating and unprofessional. I haven't returned to Maxon, would not recommend it.
