I don't understand any of the negative reviews. I'm guessing they all went on the weekend when they are very busy, and just got annoyed for having to wait while other customers were being attended to... I've been going to this range since the month they opened their doors, and I happily keep going back! This is the epitome of what a "clean range" should be. It has the best HEPA filters in the ranges and it never smells of powder. The employees are all so very nice and helpful, usually with a does of comedic relief. Shooting there is like going to a friend's home to shoot. They make all their customers feel welcomed, rather than some ranges (on Rt 30?) where everyone seems to have an attitude of being better than you and that you're inconveniencing them at their place of work. NOT HERE - YOU ARE ALWAYS MADE TO FEEL WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED AS A CUSTOMER! ALWAYS! While I've been shooting for over 50 years, I recently took a private lesson from Mark Longo to break a bad habit of (like many!) anticipating the shot and shooting low-left. WHAT AN AMAZING INSTRUCTOR! Mark was able to zero in on several bad habits I had developed over the years, and taught me how to correct them as well as practicing drills to continue to fix and internalize them at home. I was always a "decent" shot, but in only one lesson I absolutely improved. I will be joining their club as Mark Longo got me excited to shoot again, because of the progress I immediately noticed. My younger cousin wanted to increase her knowledge and exposure to firearms and requested that I take her to the range. I normally practice in private property that I currently do not access to; therefore I chose to check The Range at 355 out. The Range at 355 is easy to find and has plenty of parking. The space was clean, organized, and stocked well. The staff was very friendly to my cousin and I while introducing us to their facility and services. I look at purchasing ammo at a gun range to be similar to buying concessions at the movie theater as it may be a little over priced but that extra money goes to support the business. With that being said the ammo wasn't outrageously priced and was higher quality brand than other ranges that I have attended. The range itself was clean, in operating condition, and well ventilated. It was hot in the range but it was also an extremely hot summer day, and I didn't mind it being hot as the effects of the heat replicated stress response element to the training. I noticed other comments about the Range Safety Officer (RSO) being too intrusive; however, that was not my experience. In my opinion the RSO was attentive, present, and willing to engage if needed. That is exactly what I expect at a range that prioritizes safety. Safety is one of the most important aspects of choosing a range in my opinion and I would give The Range at 355 five stars for safety. The employees are friendly, but they are also direct in addressing safety, policy, and protocol. Before judging the range by some of the comments I recommend that you check them out and learn for yourself like I did. One of the better shooting range in the area. I just signed up for their membership. They have multiple packages. I selected Monday to Thursday, I can go any time. Have priority reservation using their website or by calling it in. With membership you get unlimited lane rental, fire arm rental for free. You only need to buy ammunition and a target. You can also bring your own gun and shoot here. If you are not looking for a membership you can rent the lane each time and pay for the rental etc.They also offer classes. This range is very well organized and have multiple lanes for target practice. Staff there is extremely courteous and helpful. I would highly recommend them. read more

Attractive shop and the range is nice. Employees are usually friendly and helpful. The downside is every time I went here they had another new rule. First it was you had to use leadcore ammo only, which makes sense since steelcore can mess up the backstop. After that it became ridiculous. I went in with a hundred rounds of steel cased 9mm Makarov wanting to practice with my carry piece and find out that they won't allow even steel cased ammo (which has no effect on anything except their brass recycler probably whines about it and gives them less for the spent brass). The last time I went they told me I couldn't use my own targets and was required to buy theirs. I said no thanks, walked out and have never been back. In the meantime, I've been shooting at Eagle with my own targets bought cheap online without any problems whatsoever. read more

Been here multiple times, finally got my ccl course done with Pat and it was fantastic. Me and my wife loved the course and instructor... definitely better than a lot of these other courses that waste your time are just straight boredom. They even give you a little gift card that I used to get an optic for my sig which is sweet. If you plan on getting a ccl course done I highly recommend Pat and this range. They also have a battle ships shooting target which is a bunch of fun when shooting with a buddy. read more

Love this range! Super clean, bright and professional. The best part about the range is that the lanes are generously sized and the dividers go all the way to the ceiling, unlike some other ranges, where my neighbors brass has rained down on me. I also love that you can program your target to desired depth. No guessing how far away your target is. I'm an amateur shooter and I have taken a couple lessons with their teacher, Kevin, who made sure I knew the most important safety points before I shot alone. After a few times, I bit the bullet (pun intended) and signed up for their membership. Totally worth it for my weekly practice. I've hit up other ranges in the area and I just like this one best. As a female, it's not uncommon for me to be ignored by male staff and patrons in this setting but that hasn't been the case at all here. Sad to say, it's time for an update and not for the better. Granted, with the pandemic going around, guns and ammo being scarce, I've frequented here when I could to just get some range time in. Driving here 30 minutes out of the way instead of down the street to Arcticle II was due to Range at 355's penchant for customer service and being very tentative. However the past 2 times I've gone to the range and especially today, I noticed a pattern. While I knew that for example today, the Governor's orders and with social distancing in place, they no longer allowed two people to share a lane, which meant, it wasn't "buy one get one", everyone had to pay for their own lane. I wasn't happy about it, but understood. Not to add on the fact though that they had a class there, so since they took up the 'regular' lanes, my friend and I had to pay the extra $3.00 fee for the "special lanes" - I didn't notice any difference between the two lanes, but hey, I understood we came there while I guess a class was going on. This is where my gripe started and again, it started over the past few times I've gone there. The first couple of times, they said, you need to bring cardboard, so I did - each time I did, they would either say the cardboard was too small, or the targets I brought were too small. The cardboard and targets I brought were a mix of 2 ft x 3 ft to maybe about 2 ft x 3.5 ft. I've used these at this range and other ranges for a long while, no issues. But again, the past few times at Range at 355, the RSO or the cashier at the range checkout, would tell me either one was either to small, and "had" to purchase one of their larger targets (not by much if at all) for $1 or more. Today, the RSO (never seen him before at least when I've been there), tried to argue with me that my tape wasn't strong enough and to use theirs. Wait, what?? I use regular blue painters tape and have been for years. This is doubled on with binder clipping the edges to make it extra secure. The prior RSOs at this Range have never had an issue with it, but this guy sure was having a field day with my painter's tape. Talk about petty. On top of it, my friend who is new to shooting, she understood it wasn't the best way for her to shoot by herself as she appreciated my pointers while she was shooting, but noticed herself that the same RSO kept hovering over her and shouting at her while she was trying to focus. This led for her anxiety and nervousness to set in, which led to a not so enjoyable time. Unfortunately (or fortunately) this will be our last trip at Range at 355 for quite sometime until they figure out what their rules/specs for targets and painters tape are. Laughable, but not my business - I will take mine and go back ironically to Article II because despite my prior visit years ago being not the greatest, since this pandemic, they've actually been decent. This may be a sign.. Article II doesn't give a damn about my painters tape or target setup - and they're cheaper too. 2.5-3 stars for Range 355, unfortunately. read more

I am new to being a gun owner. After having just received my CCL, I stopped here yesterday with a friend to do a little shopping and range shooting. Up until then, I had not discharged a gun indoors at a range, only outside range. we were immediately greeted and helped. I will first say that I have a pretty big personality, but that is not always reciprocated. Here, not the case. Every single one of the guys working yesterday jumped into the immediate bantering back-and-forth, which made the entire visit extremely comfortable right off the bat. I will admit, I did not stay inside the shooting range itself very long, while my friend spent a good amount of time there. The 'old guy' patiently explained to me how shooting indoors is something you need to keep doing, and practicing to get used to, and I will take that advice. But what I will say, is that all of the guys that worked there yesterday were patient, personable, extremely knowledgeable, and we were made to feel very comfortable and welcomed being there. The entire time my friend was inside the shooting range, I was waiting inside the store, observing the interactions of all the guys with everyone who came in...and it was certainly an eclectic mix of people...even an entire family there to celebrate their son's 12th birthday...and every one of the guys was patient, personable, professional, and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone! if it can be said, that one had "a blast" at a shooting range, no pun intended, we did. read more

I've been a long time customer at this range. I've shot there many times. I've purchased ammo and accessories. I've also taken classes. The facility is clean and nice and I've never had any problems before. The day before Thanksgiving, I went there with my brother who is an Army master sergeant and combat veteran. We each had our sons with us. We wanted to rent two lanes. We arrived early. The first employee to enter the parking lot came over and told us we were in the "employee parking" area. There was no sign designating the area as employee parking. Okay. So, I moved the car and the gentleman parked his vehicle where we had been. We watched as other employees showed up. They parked in random areas. It's clear this dude just didn't like that a customer parked in his special space. Well, I should say "spaces" because he parked using two spaces. LMFAO. Once the doors opened for business, we were first in line. We were told that my brother's 18 year old son would need to have a FOID to shoot. But a 17 year old would not need a FOID. This is due to their "insurance". We were not there to buy any ammo or guns. I mentioned that I've been to this range many times with friends and family over 18 and we were never asked to produce a FOID for every person shooting. Only a person renting a lane was required to have a FOID. We only wanted two lanes. Yes, the friends I've brought there were Illinois residents. The staff told me "You shouldn't have done that". What do you mean? There's no law. This is apparently a company policy. I'm not responsible for enforcing the policy. You are. Furthermore, one friend I brought to the range in the past actually went upstairs to do a FOID application when we completed our time on the range. This was the worst experience I've had at this range and I probably won't go back. It's not like there's nowhere else to go (off the top of my head, there are at least 3 other ranges I can go to that are approximately the same distance from my home). These non-sensical policies are driving people away for no reason. There are already enough stupid laws and restrictions in this state. We don't need gun shops and ranges that make up their own restrictions out of thin air on top of that. Well, we left and went to Article II in Lombard. The facility isn't as nice, but it gets the job done. I'm not planning to live there. I just want to shoot. The staff was super nice and helpful. We got on two lanes right away and had a great time. Yes, they allowed us to have three shooters per lane. We talked with the range supervisor about our experience at 355 and they couldn't understand it. It made no sense to them. Maybe 355 should look into getting insurance from whomever is insuring Article II. read more

I have been shooting all of my life and this is one of the nicest indoor ranges I've ever been to. Great equipment. I don't know about anyone else, but I am glad they have common sense rules to keep you safe. I have never found any of their regulations to be unreasonable. In my experience you won't find friendlier people at any other shop. Unlike some places where the people behind the counter act as if they are doing you a favor when speaking to you, here they treat you as if they are happy you are there and respect you as a potential customer. I don't know why, but that's an attitude most gun shops struggle with and yet it's such a simple, yet powerful way to develop a strong customer base. The Range at 355 seems to understand this. I have also taken classes there and found it a very positive experience. We are lucky to have them in the area. read more

I just took the 16 hour CCL class with Kevin this weekend. 9 to 5 is a long time to sit and listen to information that the state wants you to know, but Kevin made it enjoyable with his real world stories and attention to his students. The range is clean, bright and well ventilated. RSOs were hovering, but would rather have that, than someone causing an accident. I've seen better RSOs, and much much worse. Maybe not the right place for novices, without any experience. read more

Had an incredible experience with one of the instructors, Larry at this range! Took a class with Larry, who has an extensive background with Illinois State Police and SWAT. Not only was the class informative, but his personality and teaching style was by far the best part of the class that allowed all students to participate and stay engaged. His advice and opinions are even more valuable because they come from years of experience and tactical scenarios he walked us through have all been pressure tested. All of the other staff on the floor were also great; very approachable and helpful with any questions I had. Firearm sold to me by an online dealer was deemed illegal by the clerk at the range. They insisted I still pay the $50 transfer fee even though the firearm could not be transferred to me, blaming the seller for selling it, and me for not contacting them ahead of time to inspect the order (which likely involve the exact same steps they took to "inspect" it this time) read more

Yesterday my fiancé and son visited this place. No more than 20 mins in there and they were told that they can't shoot. My son has been shooting with my fiancé many times at other shooting ranges with no problem. My fiancé has firearm ID & state iD . They said my son needed to show 2 ID for him because he's 16 years old. Which is not understandable he's only 16 other places have to sign a waiver. Then the lady came toward them with attitude and so rude. All she said was No the kid has to be 21 to hold a firearm. She walked away and came back with the guy. The guy walked with her toward my son and fiancé, his hand on his hip where he has his gun. That is a threatening juster/body language to my son and my fiancé so they left. I can't even express how disgusted I am as a "First Time" Customer at this establishment! After what l've experienced here I am absolutely disturbed & furious. I'm only taking the time to create this review to stand up for the many legal Blacks & Hispanics that have experienced discrimination with "Range at 355." To be ignored upon entering a non-busy place of business patiently waiting for service from 1 of 3+ employees & to feel an absolute clear vibe that I'm not welcome or wanted there is unacceptable. Keep in mind that I am a young African American that has experienced/witnessed 26 years of racism & know it when I see it whether the profiling was straight forward, discreet or dumbed down to ensure no consequences. I realize many companies use their policies/rules to justify their prejudice acts just so they can treat us however they want. I was provoked, threatened & gas lit. When I opened up about it, I was then told to leave because "Now you're making up lies" There was not & still isn't any reason for me to lie on this matter. All I wanted was to take my girl to the closet range possible & have a good time. Instead I was profiled, disrespected, gas lit & told I won't get my money back afterwards. Furthermore, It's very upsetting for me to have seen the many bad reviews on this company in regards to discrimination at "Range at 355." Absolutely pitiful! P.s was disrespected, threatened & handled poorly by Lonny (Safety Manager) over me simply not realizing I didn't have eye protection on after my restroom run. Also I was given an email to reach out to Steve instead of the HR or Corporate Numbers I requested. I recently took the 16-hour Concealed Carry class from Pat and I can't say enough good things about it. The two nights shooting were superb because Pat gave every class member individual attention as to our grip, aim, etc. The two classroom nights were also excellent; his years of experience in law enforcement and teaching law enforcement have made him a real expert in the law as well as shooting technique. I have taken two classes here, handguns 100 and 200. Both instructors were great, very personable and helpful. As someone that has never fired a gun prior to attending the classes, the first visit to a gun range and store can be a bit intimidating. The staff was very friendly and told us that they truly appreciated our taking classes and hope to see us again. I am just starting the journey of gun ownership and it is going to take some time. The HOTEST Range around!! Quite literally. The range is not air conditioned and in fact, they source the 'fresh air' right from the roof - so the temperature in there is usually even more hot and muggy than August in the midwest. Save your trip and stop at a SBP instead. read more

This place is very clean and organized. We enjoy going here frequently, the sales team is truly friendly and respectful while the range is super clean. Make you feel like you can go on with your day after visiting. The only negative is: They only have two ranges so there is no separation from large calibers and regular calibers. So when someone shoots a large slug shotgun it can be obnoxious. read more

I assumed since I spent over $1,200 on a gun they would throw in a free range pass to try it out. Guy said nope, I don't make the rules. Wow!! Most firearm retailers are alike in many respects, what differentiates one from another is the staff. In my experience when visiting a gun shop or range the staff is either indifferent or so uptight that they make you feel unwelcome. The staff at The Range on 355 is outstanding! They are very helpful and greet you with a smile and a make you feel welcome. They are very professional and have a genuine concern for safety. I'm not an expert on firearms so being treated with respect rather than scorn is greatly appreciated. Those of us who have an entry level understanding of firearms are often subjected to subtle scorn when we go to the range. The staff there clearly have a high level of understanding about firearms but don't lord it over those of us who are not experts. I hope that the management appreciates what a rare commodity such staff members are. read more
