I really tried. I've stayed away because of the lousy attitude of the old guy in the back but I went because my son asked me to go with him. People out front, super nice and e gaging. Older guy in the back treats anyone he doesn't personally know as though they've never picked up a firearm. There are new places opening. Lake St in Hanover and North Ave / 83 in Villa Park. Plus whoever owns the place either isn't making money or is putting all the profits in their pocket because they haven't put a dime into making the customer experience any better. My CCL had expired while I was fighting cancer, so this was my return to a sport & Hobby that I've loved for decades. Went in there a few months ago to transfer a 590A1. Completely legal within PICA as there are no restrictions to pump shotguns. Old fudd in there said I had to be LE to get one referencing the same model they had tagged as LE only despite me calling other FFL's and showing proof that they are for sale to civilians within the state. Additionally, if you are younger expect to be spoken down to The young guys in there are alright, but that one experience killed it for me. I will not be returning and will be advising others not to go And while I'm at it; their range sucks and has poor ventilation. read more

***To the owner!!*** I'm "fairly" new to shooting. I have done my intro to guns class and took my CCL training course here. The instructors and staff are AMAZING. I learned SO much so it was worth every penny! This range is a little further from my home but it's well worth the drive. Paul instructed my second half of my CCL class and advised me with picking my rental gun and helped me TREMENDOUSLY with my hand placement so my shot would improve. Some things are intangible and the staff at Article II make this place our go to range. Everyone is full of knowledge and want to share it. Against my better judgment I tried to go get a scope mounted at this place. I walk up to the counter put my stuff down first thing this arrogant kid says "what's all this" immediately regretted going there. But, I try to have a good attitude and press on. Says week and a half to mount it. I said that fine, then he says maybe more. I maybe would have left it if the kid wasn't such a pompous ..... I hate this place and I live 2 miles away. Racist staff staff and rude. My 21 year old son and I went to look at guns and he was wearing a 'military style' fashion jacket from Macy's adorned with obviously fake military insignia and Macy's patches. Well, one crazy staff member accused him of stolen valor and threatened that if wasn't on duty" he'd jump over the counter and 'kuck his @$$" . Being a veteran myself, I put him in his place. After that incident, we never went back. A new gun range (Range USA) opened up locally and the staff is so much nicer and less full of themselves. I've been to Article II a few times now. The first few times I spoke with various people who were very knowledgeable on guns. They walked me through the various shot guns and hand guns they still had. I ended up getting an HK45. Since it is my first hand gun, I had a lesson from them to show me how to break it down, put it back together and clean it. They have a great range with a ton of lanes! I've always been able to shoot no problem. Everyone there is very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. read more

Visited here on a Friday night and other than the parking lot being updated, it's about the same as the other times I've been there. The guys working there all seemed to be good and try to get you to the range quickly. They had plenty of ammo in stock, but the prices were up there. The range itself was an absolute dump. Ventilation wasn't working or at least wasn't working properly. The entire time I was there, I was inside a cloud of gun smoke. The stalls are steel, so it's very loud and echoey in there. The carriers are beat up along with the controls to send the targets down range. I left with a nose full of black soot and a headache and won't be back. People that shoot there often should get their blood checked for lead levels as there's no way it's healthy being exposed to so much smoke. read more

Ahh so exhilarating! You usually need a FOID card to carry a gun in the state of Illinois or even practice, unless you buy the special Article II Groupon meant for first timers. (You're basically firing on your instructors FOID) I was shit scared of guns before going in but the instructor and the whole staff made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. While I waited, one of the guys at the front desk also showed me multiple types of guns and even the most expensive one they had at their shop. Once inside, the instructor was super calm, informative and it almost felt as if I was with my dad and he was helping me out. Very informative! The safety briefing lasted about 20 min and then I had 20-25 min to shoot. I got to shoot about 10 rounds each of a semiautomatic pistol and a revolver. 9mm and 38 R. All during the session, the instructor kept giving me words of affirmation which was super helpful. Overall, I'd def recommend to come here and get over your fear, ironically it's very relaxing and helps you get rid of any pent up stress or energy. :) read more

Early Morning Stress Reliver With The Bestie. This has been one of my top adventures to do for awhile. So, I decide to bring along the bestie to have a little Sunday Adventure. The minute I walked in I was greeted and the guy behind the counter was ready to assist me. I was waiting on my bestie so I just browse around the shop. I can't say it had a nice decor because its not meant to be pretty or dainty. Its a gun shooting range. But they do carry some very reasonable price pieces for your protection My bestie arrived and we were introduced to our instructor Andy. Andy took us both in a private room to go over rules and regulations for a fire arm weapon. He went over how each guns were to be used. He started off with a semi automatic and a revolver. Andy was very professional and went thru each instructions very carefully with us. After the 30 minute verbal classroom instructions. We were headed over to get our eyes googles and headphones for our protection. Before we headed in the range to shoot. Andy was by our side the whole time to make sure we were safe and follow his instructions. I could go on and on with this review. Just an fyi: They have a ladies night on Monday 5pm until close for around $8.50. A better deal than Groupon. Unfortunately I have to rate this place a 2 because of the staff's complete disregard for COVID safety protocols and their open support of a seditious organization, Oathkeepers. Additionally, the facility was overcrowded and social distancing was completely ignored. So why does this matter? Well, if part of the point of the 2nd Amendment is about being able to protect yourself and others, why not be consistent? Masks, worn properly, can prevent the spread of a disease costing jobs and lives. These are the same folks who wear eye and ear pro when shooting but won't wear a simple piece of cloth properly against something that is far deadlier than the loss of hearing or possibility of hot brass coming back at you. Lastly, while the gun selection was good, the range waiting area was pretty run down. TLDR; if you are looking for a range that offers all around safety and a quality shooting experience in these trying times, Article II is not for you. read more

The people at this establishment are friendly and are interested in you having a safe and enjoyable experience no matter what your level of gun experience. They have an extensive list of guns that you can rent so there is no need to even own one. If you have a Illinois gun card you can rent any gun. There is usually a great Groupon package that includes a lesson, gun and some ammo, no gun card is required. This is a nice way to begin, if you have no experience with guns. If you have seen the walking dead, the ability to handle a weapon safely should be on your short list. Article two would be a nice place to to obtain those skills. read more

Father's Day gun ranging is an Awesome event!! Especially since the outdoor weather wasn't all that great! This place had lotsa traffic for Dad's Day with Families and Father n Son combos taking time to shoot off some steam and unload some quality range time together!! Very decent place.....not the Taj Mahal of shooting establishment's but just the bare bones of ranges....just off North Ave in the back area by Industrial locations! Again nothing fancy shmancy, just some good old fashioned range time with friendly knowledgeable staff willing to help or give advice too.... They also give Military and Law Enforcement discounts to those that deserve it and they represent the 2nd Amendment Rights very well indeed!! Lots of Patriotic gear and more throughout the store along with Great selections of New and used firearms for sale or consignment services. It's always nice to come back home to Chicagoland and get the usual stellar experience I expected...... I had such an awesome time at Article 2 Range!! My boyfriend and I got a groupon for some shooting, and they did not disappoint. We had a brief class on safety and empty the weapons. Our instructor was really awesome, made us feel super comfortable and he did an awesome job teaching us. This was my first time shooting and I did a pretty good job, so thanks Drew! In efforts to find something new to do indoors on a cold day, the groupon for an hour of shooting range experience caught my eye. I purchased the groupon after some hesitation, simply because there were clauses that once booked, the reservation could not be exchanged or refunded. To my pleasant surprise, there were quite a few options for scheduled dates on their calendar, so finding an option was easy. As our scheduled slot drew closer, the winter storm predicted over the weekend became more and more prominent. Due to my husband's work responsibilities and potential requirements for assisting in storm-related duties, the range was willing to accommodate a potential reschedule under dire circumstances. Luckily, we were able to attend, but we were truly appreciative of the gesture. We arrived several minutes before our scheduled slot and were greeted immediately. Our groupon information was taken and we were asked to wait for our instructor who had not arrived. We waited approximately 10 minutes after our scheduled time, a slot which was only an hour long. I was surprised when a gentleman approached us identifying himself as our instructor when in fact I had seen him moments before entering from an office door with coffee in his hand. He took us back to the classrooms, which when we entered smelled awful. It was such a strong smell of something rotten or vomit, completely unbearable. Our instructor took the garbage out in front of us, commenting on the terrible smell - and upon returning, directed us to another classroom, for which we were immensely thankful. He guided us through the safety portion of handling the firearm, and allowed us some time to practice with an empty firearm with his guidance until he felt comfortable with our abilities. He provided us with our eye and ear protection, and we entered the indoor range. The inside of the range was extremely loud, even with the ear protection. Each shot from other firearm groups rattled and reverberated every inch of our bodies. It took a couple of minutes to get used to. Our instructor cleared the floor of empty shells so we wouldn't slip, but the space was so small and people were going in and out of the door that I felt like no matter where I stood, I was in the way. Our instructor set up our targets and we took turns to shoot. He even allowed us to take a photograph for our experience, as my husband was a good marksman. He walked us through each step and stood near us to ensure we were following appropriate protocol. We each got approximately 3 turns, and shot a total of 50 rounds together. Overall, it was fun for us both. With the groupon, we did not need a FOID card and it was a good introductory experience. While I would have appreciated some more timeliness and preparedness from the range and instructor, everyone was nice and welcoming. read more

Feels like you're walking into a flea market. Sure, it's outdated and the boards between the lanes feel like there's no barrier between you and the shooter next to you, but why are the prices so high? Lane rental is $20 for 90 min. Not bad if you plan to stay for 90 mins but how about a cheaper option? You can get an hour at Gat Guns for under $14. Let's talk ammo. They only sell 9mm in 50 round boxes. One box of Sellier and Bellot is $15. The same box at Gat Guns is $10. Customer service was average. For a range to be so out dated and still have such high prices. Just doesn't make sense. Only way I'd go back is with my own ammo. read more

This was my first time ever at a gun range. My sister and I did the beginner Groupon class with instructor, Bob. I specifically wanted to do a class because I had no prior knowledge on gun usage. He was a great teacher and guided us through the whole process. I learned a lot and will continue to use what I learned from Bob. I definitely recommend the Groupon class for beginners. I've come here multiple times to both purchase ammo (2x) and use the range facilities (2x). Each one of those times I had generally poor experiences. Just from walking in the building, it is possible you will feel unwelcome. Nobody greets you and the employees look unhappy. The day I came last week, I walked into an nearly empty showroom with around 4 employees behind the counter. I waited around the employees for about five minutes, and nobody even asked me if I needed help with anything? Mind you, this was at a time where there were no other customers in the showroom. At any other business, the employee will at least ask "Can I help you?". The first time, I went to use the range and was talked to like I was an idiot by the older man at the range counter. At that point I was a inexperienced gun owner and was asking a few questions about the procedures to use the range. His response had attitude and was as if I was annoying him with my questions and I walked out of the building being made to feel like I was stupid. Also regarding the range, it looks very poor. It looks like a bunch of pieces of plywood nailed together (which is what is is). I've come here knowing I would get poor service, with the idea that their slightly lower prices (range time) would make it worth it. The prices aren't even much cheaper than competitors ($5-$10 difference?) However, I will not be visiting Article II Range and store anymore. If it wasn't for the underlying enormous demand for firearms in the past few years, I don't think they would stay in business. On a last note, I am aware that there are some good friendly employees in this store. The bad employees, however, (which seems to be most of them, at least most of the older employees) overshadow any of the nice employees and I find it difficult to want to come back to a place of business where I don't feel welcome. read more

I came here for the first time with my Conceal Carry License class for range qualifying. They have a really nice range. So far it's the nicest one I have been to in the Chicagoland area. They have a fairly well organized oversized showroom which is great if you are interested in purchasing a firearm. The range is capable of using high powered rifles (I don't know how specific) this is great since the other ranges I have been to Do Not have the capability to allow customers to shoot those rifles. The staff was straight to the point. I can see how some could see that as "Not Friendly". The thing I kept in mind is that they are more concerned about everyone's safety than how joyful the experience might be.
