I came to Illinois Safety CPR to obtain a Basic Life Support CPR AED certification because my job…read morerequired it, and not my current American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED certification. Its location was within an acceptable driving distance from the west-side of Chicago which is why I chose it. And also its location is an area I am familiar with. ISCPR offers Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Basic Life Support, as well as American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED classes. Registering for the class was a simple process. After clicking on the class I needed, a drop down menu appeared with a thirty day span of dates to choose from. And finally, after clicking on my preferred date it took me to the registration page for that particular class. Located within a traffic circle, the easiest way to identify ISCPR is to look out for restaurants Eggsperience Breakfast & Lunch, and Circle Tavern which ISCPR sits in-between. Now as for the class. Due to coronavirus, there were things that we did not do during this course, as well as things we did such as wearing gloves while touching the dummies, and utilizing a Ambu bag instead of doing mouth to mouth. The presentation itself which majority of it was on video was easy to follow and the instructor, Michael was very insightful and welcoming throughout it. I am glad I chose to attend Illinois Safety CPR to obtain my BLS certification. I highly recommend if you are pursuing any of the CPR certifications mentioned. ~Blessings~ Thomas G

I was mostly worried about parking in this area but they do have some parking just west of the facility, across Leavitt. You enter that lot lot Harrison. Much/most/all of the street along Leavitt is 30 minute parking only which could work if you have an appointment here to donate blood, depending upon how long the appointments are. The course was good. It lasted about two and a half hours or so and began with adult CPR and choking techniques, from which the child and infant techniques are derived so you learn those modifications toward the end of the course. There were a couple people here who didn't need/want the child instruction so they were able to leave during the break. Due to the pandemic, they assign two people to a dummy instead of three as they used to, but they do partner you up if you're alone to ensure that you have someone observing to make sure you're getting the techniques correct. I was very pleased taking the BLS course and surprised by how informative his answers were whenever I asked questions. David covers all grounds and makes sure that you know the material forwards and backwards and to make sure you're paying attention he'll ask you questions prior, during, and after each part of the session. In addition he makes sure you feel comfortable asking the questions no matter how absurd or how dumb they may be. If you have taken a CPR course in the past and have forgotten everything, it is absolutely necessary that you buy the book and read through it prior to class (this makes the practice and performance as well as the written exam go much more smoothly) I highly recommend this course.
