The highlight of the 2 day CCL class for me was range qualification. It was relaxed, yet structured and everyone was at ease and safe. As is most things in life, the more you put in...the more you'll get out of the overall experience. Although instructor Don could have droned on and on doing ALL the reading, he wisely chose all the class members to read aloud. This was helpful to the entire class and especially the shy students who would've just sat back letting their classmates carry the class. My experience was quite satisfying and highly productive. He was also so scattered that he didn't bring our certifications with him to the range so I had to make a second trip to the office to pick it up. Horrible experience and I don't feel any more knowledgeable than before I dropped a couple hundred bucks on this jerk.

This is better because the instructor is patient with the student while imparting concepts and objectives, such as handgun safety and maintenance. The instructor is knowledgeable as he answered all questions (some were in unrelated topics, like personal defense against knife attack), and, shared some stories and personal experiences to highlight a lesson. In addition, he made me aware of some relatively cheaper shopping venues for many cleaning supplies, holsters, and ammunition. The decor is old and that makes for a counter-intuitive experience - you are getting a high knowledge base, but should disregard the setting, and focus on the teacher-student relationship.

Joe was exceptional in his ability to explain, with patience, but also provide quality feedback both good and constructive. He welcomed questions and gave some tips on where to get supplies. Additionally I had not shot a lot and was nervous at the beginning of the lesson but by the end of it, heck, I felt like cool hand Luke. Well, I still need practice hitting the red part of the target, but I felt much more comfortable and confident thanks to Joe's teaching.
