My parents took this class last year and had been nudging me to sign up. I kept putting it off because sitting in a classroom for 8 hours over a weekend sounded like a nightmare. But wow, was I wrong. Joe and Terry made the time fly. The class was engaging, informative, filled with real-life examples that tied directly into their experience, all while tying in their great senses of humor. It was clear this wasn't just a dull PowerPoint read-along like I feared I'd get elsewhere. Their team is equally amazing: super personable and helpful, both in the classroom and out on the range. I didn't catch everyone's names, but every single staff member made the environment feel comfortable and judgment-free, which I really appreciated. I can only imagine how much that meant to the people shooting for the first time. If you're on the fence about taking this class don't be. It was an insightful, empowering weekend and I'm so glad I finally did it. Thank you again, Joe and Terry!

I was actually one of his original students, and it's been great to see how consistently professional and dedicated he has remained over the years. He is extremely knowledgeable and does an excellent job explaining not just the legal requirements, but also the practical, real-life situations that responsible concealed carry holders may face. His instruction is clear, informative, and grounded in real-world experience, which makes the classes both engaging and very valuable. If you're looking for a concealed carry instructor who truly understands the responsibility of carrying and takes the time to prepare his students properly, he is an outstanding choice. I'll certainly continue using his services for my renewals in the years ahead.

I decided it's time to learn gun handling properly. Marty was recommended by a good friend of mine. He was very personable and thorough. Using various videos and hands-on techniques, I learned State and Federal laws, carrying, transporting, and storage related to gun ownership as well as handling a weapon. A live-fire qualification at a range is required to earn the Concealed Carry Firearm Training Certificate. In addition to concealed and carry course, Marty also offers CCL renewal classes. Locations vary as he tries to accommodate a group of people at the same time. Anyone interested in firearm training, I highly recommend Marty!

- Awesome class!!! - Very professional instructors!…read more- Top notch training by current & former law enforcement officers and military veterans! I signed up for their 16 Hour Basic Pistol - Illinois Concealed Carry Course with a friend, not knowing what to exactly expect from the class. Upon arrival my first day of class, I could tell right away that our instructors were professional shooters, had been teaching for a long time, and that I was in for an education. Our class was made up of all kinds of people: beginners, experienced shooters, military veterans, and regular people like my buddy and I. Not having much of a shooting background (except for shooting BB guns when I was a kid), I appreciated the first day of class; going over handgun safety, how to select a handgun for purchase, loading / unloading, and handgun cleaning & maintenance. The 2nd day, we learned all about Concealed Carry in Illinois; the laws, the do & don'ts of CCW, how to draw my pistol, how to conceal one, holster selection, police interactions, and what to do if I unfortunately find myself having to use my handgun in self-defense. Not being the greatest shot on the range starting out, the instructors took their time, working one-on-one with me to correct the bad habits I had (jerking the trigger, and shooting with only one eye open). Once I followed their instructions, I shot a perfect score on my qualification! I cannot say enough about these guys and girls! I highly recommend the class!!! CJ

With the current market for firearms in this country, it was hard to even get a call back from gun shops that also performed FFL transfers, presumably because they were so busy with sales right now. Very glad to have found Suburban Arms Transfer. Marissa is very responsive and prompt, and setting up an appointment for the transfer is online and very easy. Fees are very reasonable as well. Although they also do consignment sales of firearms, their specialty is FFL transfers, so you can rest assured your request is not going to fall into a pile like it might at a gun shop who doesn't have time to bother with your $25 transfer when they are trying to sell $700 guns. They are in the northwest suburbs, and it's a safe and nice area. Bit of a hike from the city, but worth the convenience to know that the process was going to be very streamlined.

My wife is a novice with firearms and I have some experience with them but she has always wanted to take the Concealed Carry class. Very nice people and explained everything we asked. I was more drawn to their FFL services personally!! I found a nice rifle out of Texas and sent a few emails regarding their procedures and not only were they answered but responded to within the hour! Their website is laid out nicely and easy to navigate with concise procedures and information. I made the purchase and paid for it. SA was already notified and they texted/emailed as soon as they were in possession of the rifle. Made an appointment (next business day) and went to their location, filled out paperwork, inspected the rifle (which was secured in a very nice safe) and I was done! Maybe 30 minutes because they were VERY streamlined! My wife wanted to take the Concealed Carry class through SA so we signed up and was SO pleasantly surprised! The class was for Oct 16/17th (16 hours) and we completed the course Day 1 feeling really good! Actually all I can say is WOW!!!! My wife whom is a novice was so engaged and made to feel extremely comfortable throughout the entire process! Day 2 was classroom and then range time. In the classroom Sean explained everything and even broke down the laws in laymen terms as well as everyday scenarios so everyone understood it! Range day- Sean and Pat were phenomenal! Extremely safe and very fun! They kept everyone engaged and mixed things up nicely to limit any down time! If anyone is even remotely thinking about taking a concealed carry class I can not emphasize enough how good Suburban Arms is! They also take good care of Veterans!!!! Cant wait for the next level of training they offer! If you are on the fence regarding their services just jump off and jump in because you will not be disappointed by the level of professionalism!
