Don't ever by any stihl products from them. Tom knows nothing about chainsaws. The manager Cory will lie to you also. Spent $800 on a gas pole saw. Which he put together wrong. Then he didn't give me the owners manual. If you order a bar or chain he will order the wrong stuff. Don't waste your time with this guy doing warranty work. Buyer beware! read more

went to my local ace hardware this morning to buy paint brushes rollers etc. and some tomato plants .been there 23 years .got to the register with my check already mostly made out for them. they rang every thing up bagged it all. and then told me they don't take checks, I have two checking accounts one of them just blocks away from their store. I'm tired of being lumped in with a few bad actors that bounced a check on them not every one walks around today with hundreds of dollars on them. I could have used my credit card but said no. I'm going to go to Menards or Lowe's from now on and ace hardware in manteno Illinois will ot be seeing me or my money anytime soon. read more

I've been in this store so many times within the past few years that I've jokingly thought about asking for a name tag. I will never have this degree of allegiance to another hardware store because I genuinely feel welcomed by family when I'm here. They will go to great lengths getting you what you need or at the very least guiding you along the correct path to finding it.. even Greg, I love giving him a hard time! I will never forget the cheerful greeting from the girls at the counter while either walking through the door or calling to see if they have something. Pam, Lisa, Wayne, Kara, Tori, Vicky, Shawn, and everyone else who's names I might not remember who have helped me and made me laugh, thank you. Paulette, you've saved my rear a few times and I've never left Ace disappointed. I am not a big review person but I feel the need to today. I went to this Ace to get a Traeger grill today and I live in Tinley Park (less tax than Crook county). The only grill left in the one I wanted was the floor model so I took it but stuff was missing that I did not realize until I got back home. I called right away and they were more than helpful with getting me what was missing but also gave me some pellets for the grill for my troubles. The staff are the best part of this place....Great to have in town. Owner is often there and all staff are really helpful. The staff actually know their stuff here and surprise the heck outa me sometimes. They have just about everything here and are really great at finding an obscure doo-dad to fix something. Prices are slightly higher than a home warehouse on some things, but they also have great bargain bins of tools and stuff so it balances out. They do a really great job with fixing screens...really a bargain for work I just find irritating to complete. read more

I have a claw foot tub; it took me a long time and pretty penny to find the perfect faucet fixture. My friend tried to tighten the hot handle wrong and broke the interior bolt. I could not find a match. Decided to head to Ace as customer service is top notch and staff have an abundance of knowledge. An old timer named Jim loved my challenge. Turns out the interior bolt had 2 different sizes on the ends, making it HARD!!!!! Jim spent the time it took to mastermind a fix. He took one size bolt, found an extension end, removed the rubber from the exterior and tried to put it in the other end of the handle. Well the gadget was just a tad too large so he then drilled the opening a tad and presto with a few taps of the hammer my handle was restored!!!! I'm so grateful. All I paid was .59 for the bolt and .85 for the extender and a small labor fee. Unbelievable, but true. Thank You ACE!!!! read more
